This was the long awaited toy for the kids and they spent over 6 hours building it. It is so interesting that the kids want to knock it down and build it all over again just for the fun. It’s great to see the Friends series continuing to branch out into more adventurous sets and scenarios, none more so that this marine rescue boat. My daughter has been playing with Lego Friends for a few years now, and the earlier sets seemed to focus more on shopping, which didn’t have quite the same playability or appeal as her other Lego sets. It seems that this has been taken on board, and we’re now seeing a more dynamic and exciting approach for Friends. Needless to say this is a more than welcome move from Lego. This particular set forms the flagship (no pun intended) for the theme, with smaller separate sets available that include a lighthouse and submarine. As such,it’s a very impressive set in terms of size and complexity. The build is moderate-to-tricky as per the Friends series, with quite a lot of intricacy that would frustrate builders much younger than the recommended 7+, but instructions are typically clear and concise. At just over 900 pieces it’s on the large side and isn’t a quick one. The boat of course forms the bulk of the build, with the supporting island and coral reef acting as accessories. Once built, the boat is an excellent large-scale toy with endless play potential. There’s a working winch, and plenty going on below deck, including sleeping quarters and office. The island, reef and dinghy help encourage any number of storylines, and the (pink) narwhal has become a favourite with both my eldest daughter (age six) and my youngest (age four).All-in-all this is a really impressive set that is guaranteed to be popular with kids who are familiar with the Friends series.

I have created lots of Lego sets during my sons lifetime and I haven't had many I have have not enjoyed. My younger daughter is also a Lego fan and we had just as much fun building this set than I did building my sons Lego city/Star Wars/Marvel/Hobbit etc. This ship is truly amazing though, 908 bricks will get this built for you. The boat is supposed to be a rescue ship, but this is far more than a rescue ship. As I type this review on my laptop I am watching my daughter, having a deck side party on her new Friends boat. This was after sending out imaginary invites to her Lego Friends. What i like best about this ship is the under the upper tier, gives you access to the ships control area,or science lab as my daughter corrected me along with a cute sleeping deck. There are 2 sun loungers on the front lower deck too.The rear deck you has a range of items to play with. There is a diving set, with an underwater coral to investigate with an underwater camera to help collect specimens to take back to the science lap for my budding marine biologist. The deck crane allows you to lower to diver into the water. There is also a launch pad for mini boat.As always with Lego, the instructions are explicit and easy to follow, my 7 year old daughter built large parts of this ship on her own. We finished building this ship 2 nights ago, and she has played with it none stop for 2 straight days. When a child has this much fun with a toy that pushes her young mind to explore new ideas, you know you are onto a winner. This Lego set wont disappoint.!

We have many Lego Friends sets in our house, my 6 year old daughter loves them. I love all the detail and the hours of play they encourage. This set is the most impressive I have seen so far, the detail is fantastic. It took us around 4 hours to build (with me and my husband doing most of it). You can also use the Lego Life app on your smartphone or tablet, which helps children build the sets but we felt our daughter was too young to do this, but a great feature for an older child.Once built there were so many great elements for my daughter to play with. She loved that the boat has a bedroom with beds for the three girls (Olivia, Mia and Andrea in diving outfits) along with a toilet, lab and kitchen. The top of the boat just sits on top so it is easy to remove so you can play with the lower level. This level also includes a pool where the narwhal can be treated, a dock/release for the speed boat and a crane and stretcher to bring the narwhal on board. The top level includes a look out point where two of the girls can relax and have a drink and a cockpit where another girl can drive the boat. Many toys now have elements that change in water and this is always a hit with my daughter so she enjoyed dipping the map in water to see where the treasure is hidden. There is also a small "underwater" coral scene where the treasure chest is, along with a bit of boat wreckage where you can pretend to rescue the narwhal from and use the crane to lift it up. This set will encourage hours of imaginative play.

A large kit (over 16" long) from Legos Friends range, these kits with heart motifs and a large splash of pink are aimed more at girls, even the figures lose their famous Lego look in favour of something more human looking, which makes watching someone play with both types of figures together quite endearing. This does not mean they are not fun and detailed builds expect to spend some quality time if your helping your kids with this one, it took us almost 3 hours of building. The boat is quite a complex construction and it is easy to miscount and stick blocks one or two spaces out of position. Once built the top of the boat is easily removable to allow access and there are plenty of accessories (some of which are quite small)to play with and adorn the figures like cameras, hair bows, life jackets, flippers and medical instruments to help cure the creature they rescue. So a good time spent building and lots of play value afterwards, so long as your kids don't get traumatised by having to pull peoples heads off to fit life jackets! At time of review there was no price available but I don't expect this to be cheap but so long as it isn't a ridiculous amount for the build quality and play value I think it's a winner.PS it is NOT designed to float in water and it's the first Lego set I've seen with a toilet!

In total I'd recommend putting aside a full day to assemble this Lego boat and island. We did it in stages across several days (we did the island first, then gradually putting the boat together), but I estimate that it was about eight hours in total. This was with a soon-to-be nine-year-old and adult helper. The set says it is suitable for ages seven and up, but it definitely depends on how much patience the child has. The attention to detail in this set is great, right down to the smallest things like assembling the sink and installing a miniature tap. So you need to have a certain amount of patience to follow the instructions and find all the right pieces.Fortunately, the pieces are divided up into numbered bags for each stage, and there is a full book of instructions which clearly show which pieces go where. Once fully assembled, the boat is quite large (about 40 cm long) so you'll need a good space to display/store it!We really enjoyed the thoughtfulness that has clearly gone into creating the kit. There's even a little fabric treasure map that you run under water to show up the pattern. And the unicorn whale (?!) was a big hit! With 908 pieces to put together, it's a great rainy day or school holidays project.

This was a present for my 6 year old Lego mad daughter. As usual with Lego it is a truly brilliant set and we are yet again impressed with the quality and the play value.I really enjoy the fact that Lego is fun during both the build stage and the post build play stage. This set took my daughter 2 days on and off to build (maybe 5 to 6 hours in total), she didn't get bored and methodically followed the well written instructions. Once built she added it to her ever growing collection which is currently dominating the playroom floor. She has had a huge amount of fun taking her lego sets off on boat adventures, her Ninjago figures were even involved in foiling an attack on the boat. The attention to detail with these sets is impressive,I like the conservation and animal rescue slant to this set and it has further fed my daughters desire to know more about the sea, its inhabitants and the impact of plastics etc on the sea (slightly ironic given that Lego is made from plastic....at least it is unlikely to ever end up on Landfill given the fact that we still have heavily played with sets from my husbands youth!)

This is one of the large Lego sets and makes a great gift for children of 7 years upwards.I think most parents and grand-parents with youngsters around will know their way round modern boxes of Lego. This one makes a large rescue cruiser boat and has absolutely loads of accessories such as three mini doll figures, a narwhal, diving set, underwater coral, an island complete with palm tree, sun loungers, and masses of other little bits that fit either the characters or boat – life-jackets etc.A certain level of Lego skill will be needed to actually build the rescue cruiser so it might be an idea to supervise younger children to ward off frustration tantrums, but older (10+) should be fine. The detail on, around and within the boat is amazing – radar, beds, toilet etc. There's hours of fun to be had and variations of construction – ours always go off piste with Lego – and great for imagination and role play.

I absolutely adore this. What a set!It reminds me of the Pirate Ship lego my brother had when we were younger - it's like the modernised, maybe girls version. It's completely in keeping with the Lego Friends sets, all the same colours, same bricks, same characters - so if you've got a few already, this slots in as a fantastic addition. It's one of the bigger sets, and takes a fair while to build - a good, intensive project one, done solo is fun or if it's for someone smaller, an adult can help.I'm just in love with it. It's a pink lego speedboat. The parts that come too - the palm trees, the little rock, the lifeboat - the imaginative play with it is great.I love the pastel coloured bricks that are coming with the Lego Friends sets too.

This boat is a real triumph. It's sleek curvy design and colour scheme are peak Friends, and the level of detail and playability is excellent. Like the best Friends sets, it acts as a kind of doll's house that my daughter loves using as a backdrop for the stories and adventures the characters embark upon. The crane, rescue dinghy and laboratory add a great science-based aspect which I'm grateful for, and the fact tiny things like a CCTV camera, prow-mounted telescope and fish-tank have been included speaks volumes for how the Friends sets prioritise maximising the amount of things to play with. A must buy.

Well, this is absolutely fantastic. This was given to a seven-year-old who spent absolutely hours building and rebuilding of righty of different things with this. Figures that come with this are excellent, And as usual the quality of this is outstanding. We have several Lego sets now and it’s really great fun to intermingle all of them.As an educational toy this is top-notch.The child that used this has ADHD but it kept him in chaunted for hours building, taking down and rebuilding all over again. This is an excellent set. Highly recommended

As someone who was a young girl during the age of Clikits, I always longed for a set like this, and now I have it as an adult! I was impressed by all the little details. It's a proper play set in its own right, and comes with lots of extras for the smaller parts. I absolutely love the color scheme and the built in storage for "play" pieces such as the medical supplies, flippers, and diving mask. As someone who was a fan of the bigger, 00's polly pockets (and the older ones too!), this feels very reminiscent, but modern and just a tad smaller.

Again Amazon - great price on Lego! However, as seems to be standard across Lego friends set, they are a bit simple given the age category and also a bit lacking in volume/size. This should have been a £79 kit and in my opinion it doesnt feel like quite enough for the price tag.My 8YO (with no concept of cost) really enjoyed the build and the finished product however many sub £50 technic sets present a more challenging and satisfying experience, and playability of the finished model, and therefore better overall value

1.8.2019

The end result of this Lego kit is a rather splendid boat, but it took HOURS of perseverance from three kids (2x 12yo, 1x 7yo) - around 3 hours per day for at least three days. The pieces were difficult to clip together and required some adult intervention - just a little stiff and frustrating for little hands. Once built they were a little exasperated with the boat but once we put it in the paddling pool their interest was reignited. Overall, a super Lego set for summer holiday entertainment.
