In short, if you have a VR and looking for a great platform game than this does not disappoint. In more detail this game wasn’t on my radar before seeing the Mario 64 comparison and from that I thought that I’d purchase it but in no way did I think this comment would ever be correct. After completing this game to platinum trophy I can tell you that the comments regarding Mario 64 is that of the feeling you first had when playing Mario 64 and this game does just that.I could honestly mistake AstroBot for a Nintendo platform and this is the highest praise I could give a game like this. The VR works perfectly without any feelings of nausea, you are placed just behind the Bot you control and have full 3D vision of him while you move him around the level.Controls work and change depending on where he is, it will change from him going behind, above or below you but it will work well. What it won’t do is work the same if you look away from him but I get that. The level designs work well having you the player following the bot as he moves forward (you can’t travel backwards). There are 8 bots to find in each level and 1 chameleon which when found will unlock a challenge level. The game will have moments where you the player will get involved by bashing things with your head, dodging slime blasted at you by an enemy or just heading a football back at an enemy. The bot itself is cute, when you look at him he will give you a little wave, if you leave him he will put on a VR headset himself and when in water he can even stick to your screen. The level designs are fantastic, the underwater being my favourite, especially sections where your head is just above water where you can duck to move yourself underwater. You can see your controller if you look down and even see the button pushes and thumb stick movements. You sometimes will also gain abilities like a water gun, a hookshot and spinning blades which will help you along your journey, each taking advantage of the controllers touch pad.The challenge mode has fun small levels which will place you against the clock or taking certain amount of damage or gaining a high score. Most are easy enough but there are some that prove a real challenge. The boss battles are epic, each boss being gigantic however none provide as much of a challenge until the final boss. I did enjoy each boss battle however but the shark was defiantly my favourite. As you collect coins in the levels they can be spent buying items for your home pod which you can use to have a little sandpit area to navigate around. If you have a VR you really need this game. The world does well making you feel immersed and even though it’s pretty short I would love to see another of its kind.

Astro Bot is THE defacto PSVR game to show off to your friends and family that lets them see what VR in a cutesy platformer can do without inducing any motion sickness at all. It’s a simple premise of save the bots from the levels you encounter, but what makes this game a standout is the innovative use of the controller and the PSVR headset itself to create an involving and much fun world to be a part of.It has you standing up (if sitting down) so you can see behind obstacles and see if any enemies or bots to save are lurking out of what normal vision a game like this would allow you, you also ‘look’ at where you want to aim when Astro has a ball to throw, and then there is the sections which has you dodging enemies fire whilst you’re controlling your bot - nothing too heavy, just a dodge of the head left or right. The only one I’ve come across that is a little jarring is when you do get hit by a spitting enemy and it sticks to your virtual visor you have to shake it off, physically moving your head, which at times results in you slightly displacing your headset resulting in a require pause to readjust to your eyes again, but other than that it’s fun!The levels are not overly taxing, but neither are they far from easy, a decent level of challenge can be had trying to find all the hidden parts of each level oh and the geckos - one on each level, these unlock timed challenge section which in themselves are quite fun. These also showcase some of the ways to play the game in a more fun way. All good fun! Most definitely a must have game, Japan Studio really know how to utilise VR in a fun way without actually making us sick ok the process. The music in the game is fun and bubbly and actually had me dancing in my seat, and the bots comical antics, especially their dancing (just watch them floss!) is laugh out loud. The game is suitable for all ages, I’m 44 and thoroughly felt like I was 8-9 years of age playing in a world in which I’d created as a child. Superb!Spend the money, you won’t regret it. Top class game. So much fun!

There are no words to explain how bloody cute this game is. The music will have your head bopping, little Astro will have you giggling your head off and smiling. Every time he runs past you he will look up and wave at you lol. His little cape is rediculously cute and his little sounds will remind you how tiny he is against such big worlds and monsters. It is a good idea to look all around you and behind you to find secrets. This is a full 360 game where Astro will be very far away from you at times and you might have to stand up to keep an eye on him. Sometimes he will be walking right over your head and you have to lean right back to keep an eye on him and make sure he doesnt fall off. When you finish a level all the robots you rescued join together to have a dance off its hilarious. This will be a game changer, literally, and will set the standard for VR. The VR games that came out 1st were just warming us up. Now the games are getting much sharper and clearer. I have no doubt that this will be a new series like Mario etc but far better. If you are not sure if you like platform games just read some of the reviews and that will clear it all up for you. This is the game everyone is blabbing on about now and there is a reason for it. Its the one game that will set the standard now for the next while. God knows what VR will be like when the ps5 comes out but all I know is VR games are getting really good.Another thing I know is that Astro will be melting hearts all over the place, he is a little cutie with his little waggly run and tiny cape flapping out the back of him. When he is scared he makes this noise that makes you want to pick him up and put him in your pocket.

Its a 6 to 8 hour varied campaign with another hour of challenges and chance to go back and find collectables. The graphics are crisp and show that the many other developers of psvr don't have an excuse when it comes to visuals and can no longer blame the hardware. The gameplay is amazing and you can see a controller in game which gets mods like grapple hooks and water canons. When I saw this at first I felt astrobot didn't have the character to make this a great game but I was so so wrong. You can even head butt things in game to get past them. Its just so perfect for vr and it fully justifies its existence as a vr only game by forcing you to look in all directions and sometimes actually look around posts and pillars to see astrobot himself. For a first gen vr game this is baffling.I hope other developers take note as many of the psvr games are too short and blurry but this game leaves most of them barring resident evil 7, blood and truth, and rush of blood in its wake.10/10

This game is a fresh breeze of simple, fun and cleverness.Being in control of Astro on a quest to rescue his fellow bots is a lot of fun. It's the same kind of platform fun as Mario, but being in VR the feeling of being in the adventure is so clever. Not only do you see the monsters close up and seems massive in front of you, but also the way the camera moves is refreshing - the camera does not simply follow Astro around - because you yourself are in the game, it is taken from your point of view. So sometimes you will lose sight of Astro, he might be round a corner or somewhere below you.You may have to guide Astro into a tunnel and he virtually disappears out of sight.Overall a very fun gamewith lots of colour and a feeling of escape that puts a smile on the face.I wish it was longer to keep the fun going.

this is the first platform type vr game i have played, and i held off playing this as i thought a 3d platfomer was wasted on vr...how wrong was i! this is the best platformer i have played since mario galaxy 2, and gave me many 'wow' moments, where the game just felt original and fresh. i personally get vr motion sickness very easily, for those who suffer motion sickness in vr i will say the first level made me feel a little sick, however i think this was just getting used to the camera chasing the little guy and once i had got used to that it just clicked, it felt right and i was able to play about 10 levels before wanting a break. this is a must have vr game for me now, up there with superhot, job sim and i expect you to die as a showcase of what vr can do

Really fun game. So reminiscent of mario/sonic and the like. Has a really great feel to it and is very immersive. The levels have just the right pace and increase in difficulty and there is so much to see and do that I have to say it’s the first game that feels FULL. Like, bonus levels and hidden content....not to mention the grabber machine from the demo.Every other game I’ve played in vr has felt a bit short (rick and morty, doom) or has lost the novelty fairly quickly (fruit ninja, dick Wilde) or has just been an all out port (Skyrim)This however is a full and complete game with an immersive story line, characters and world that is suitable in style and gameplay for all ages and something I would recommend adding to any vr games collection.

Astrobot Rescue Mission is a fantastic 3D platform game massively enhanced by VR. The basic game is a simple 3D platformer where you control a small robot called Astrobot. I like 3D platformers anyhow, but this one is incredibly good and the VR aspect plants you straight into the platform with Astrobot which is really awesome. The developers have added some nice touches to the game such as you can see an "updated" version of your PS4 controller with extra features such as grappling hooks and a catapult. Also you can headbutt things to access hidden areas and help Astrobot on his quest. This is an amazing immersive experience and was my favourite VR game in 2018.

Amazing. This is probably the most modern and forward thinking game there has ever been! Its like super Mario 64 in VRIts amazing! Its just great I cant speak highly enough about it. i was smiling, i was sad, i was waving at these robots, i was dodging enemies with my head, I had to stand up to get better views of things, I had to turn around to get to the other side of maps... I was literally in the game.I was pretty much ready to sell my Headset so so glad I didn’t because this game is the one us VR owners have been waiting forI could go as far as saying a must have game... it’s a shame I found this game by the luck! Get the word out there!

The pictures shown do not do this game justice. It is absolutely amazing and is the best VR game ever ! imagine your most loved console platform game - then imagine yourself right inside the game. that is what its like - it is so amazing. you look around and you see the scenes in the game everywhere you look. interaction is very cool, astro bot and the little bots are so cute, and the interaction with them and your conroller is awesome. I cannot give this enough stars. I really hope they make more of these. totally immersive , fun, cute amazing scenery and challenging. Total fun to play. I wish they would make VR tv's - they would be so amazing.

A friend purchased this and it came recommended. So I purchased on Tuesday and came from amazon quickly. The game is like what others said very much like a vr mario 64. The graphics can be a bit hot and miss on psvr but this game looks great and A’s are the animations. The game never fails to impress and surprise you. The little touches are amazing. Buy this and it may be the best game you have played in years. In vr you get the feeling of scale and feels great. I have to say the trailers don’t do this justice you have to play it yourself. Also one last thing. This game allows you to look behind you in psvr. Other games say out of play area.

I'm a jaded 40 year old gamer who has seen it all, at least that was until I played this. Put simply, it'll put a smile on the grumpiest of faces from beginning to end. The immersion is incredible, particularly the larger open environments, the gameplay, mechanics, etc are every bit as good as Nintendo's finest and a special mention has to go to the soundtrack. If little Astrobot doesn't have you smiling the track listing will. Its so upbeat, catchy and just downright perfectly suited to the game. I adore everything about this game, it genuinely is worth the price of a headset even if you aren't to buy another vr title again. 11/10.

Wow. With a certain plumber lacking his platforming charm recently this is a welcome addition. For its first full game and on VR this lol astro bot really leaves u wanting more. The fame is short and simple with a slight replay value. There isn't much reward or sense of achievement with the game being rather simple but the ideas are superb. The VR experience is fab. I really hope they build on this and make the next installment more challenging using the same ideas and fresh ideas. There is plenty that can be done with what is there though. It feels more like a taster of what's to come!! Kids love it too.

Absolutely the best game on PSVR. No other VR game immerses you in the action quite like Astro Bot.Completed the final world & boss today. Had the game for 18 months but I havent had time to play on the PS much. Got 2 weeks off work and broke it out. My word do the days go fast! Its not a complicated game and the controls are easy. Just what I need at the age of 36. So many games are too complicated to learn for me these days. Espescially when you dont have time to play them long enough to get good at them.
