Have used these now for a couple of hours only so cant speak for long term quality however i just came from owning the logitech g933 to these and these are an immediate improvement.First of all they work as they should out of the box unlike the g933, the issue with the logitech's was the software provided limited the volume way too much and there was no solution except not to use the software and then there was major crackling issues. So needless to say i requested refund and purchased these. Now these are much better, volume fully adjustable as you would expect no software limitations, if you want it loud you can. Also no issues with crackling or poor connections. My understanding of the 5.8ghz frequency range of the astro a50 is that its a more reliable connection however its over a shorter distance, frankly if thats an issue you should stop playing games while sat in the garden looking at the sky. Ive walked around my home and never lost audio so good enough for me, cant comment on if you lose voice ive yet to test.As for the sound quality, theres a lot of reviews written claiming the bass is very heavy but id say its only on par with the g933, in fact its not as heavy as i expected because the g933 really made the headphones rumble even at that reduced volume, these astro's seem pretty spot on. Besides the bass everything else comes through loud and clear no distortion, only ones have the highs sounded a bit sibilant ( too sharp or shrill ) but that was a split second and could have been game audio issue ( r6 siege ). Overall the audio is really good for gaming. Using the dolby surround was slightly better than the g933 also offering better directionality to the sound, i really could pinpoint where people are coming from or where the action is taking place. Again this is helped by a game that has very good quality audio. I picked up a lot of little details with these, more so again than the g933, if you find yourself taking a headset off wondering if a small sound is in the room or in the headset thats a good sign of quality directional audio.I like the quality of the headset and base station overall, i prefer the g933 mic simoly because it tucks away into the headset and the astro doesnt however i can locate the mic much much easier with the astro so its more practical in that regard. Everything has a quality feel, the earcups have a nice soft touch and buttons are easy to locate, my ears get ever so slightly more sweaty with the astro compared to g933. The base station is heavier and more solid than you would expect and it gives you plenty of detail about battery life and if your using dolby surround. The g933 has a lot more flexibility in what you can use, such as any console, any device... It will work. The astro is a bit more locked off in that regard, but it works with what i need it to which is my pc and ps4 and its seemless with the flick of a switch which is nice.Overall it has to be a 5 star from me. I have listened to some stunning headphones in my time ranging from true audiophile ( shure se535, westone 4 ) in ears to cheap and tacky over ears and these astro a50's do an admirable job at the intended task which is gaming. Im more than happy so far and will alter the review should i have any issues in future.

I've been a PC gamer and headphone wearer since my kids were born (over 15 years ago) so I'm no stranger to using both wired and wireless headsets. In my World of Warcraft days I got through 4 or 5 headsets by trapping the USB cable between the seat and arm of my office chair, only to pull the headphones off my head (along with my glasses, breaking both) ripping the cable out of the bottom of the headphones.Having migrated to wireless Sennheiser headphones many years ago and not managing to break them as of writing this review I havent had the need to buy a new set for a long time, until along comes Christmas and a comment from my wife that the headphones she uses on the PS4 make her feel like shes underwater.Sure enough when I give them a go I feel like im suddenly very hard of hearing, so a quick google later I locate the Astro A50 3rd gen Wireless Gaming Headset. The A50's were a new replacement for a previous 2nd generation units which were well regarded in the gaming community and (according to the reviews I read) the A50's had improved on the gen 2 experience.I bought these specifically for use on a PS4, but they are also usable on PC as well by moving a configuration switch on the base unit. If you own an XBox rather than a PS4 then there is an edition of the A50's that works with XBox and PC. If you own both an XBox and PS4 then I hope you have deep pockets because that config switch is an either/or. I can only assume that there are either major hardware/software differences between the XBox and PS4 sound comms, or Astro are betting on folks owning both and buying twice (I'll bet on the latter). These are not cheap headphones at around £150 but the sound they deliver is incredible. Connection to the PS4 is both via a USB cable (for power to the base unit that the headphones charge on when at rest) and via an optical link into the back of the PS4 for audio transmission. The mic has a rather nice mute feature that disables it when in the up position (away from your mouth) and enables it when you bring it down. It might sounds like a bit of a pain to move the mic to mute it, but it feels natural as a headset user to flick it out of the way to talk to someone else in the room.On one side of the headphones you have a sound balance control that lets you adjust headset voice sound vs game sound to ensure that you can hear enough of your own voice and others in game but also the all important environmental sounds around you. Having this as a hardware control allows for quick re-balancing of sounds without playing with a software mixer or game settings. On the other side of the headphones you have an analogue volume control wheel (which I prefer over up/down buttons) as it allows for fine grained adjustment as well as quick ramping up/down of overall volume. Also present is a dolby 7.1 selector switch, and power switch for the units. If you are in the market for a set of new wireless headphones and have the requisite funds to appropriate some of these puppies, then just do it. The gratification of hearing someone's footsteps around the corner in CS:GO and wasting them will be worth the price tag (also watching movies, listening to music, and generally all other non-violent audible acts)

2019 July edit: DO NOT BUY! NEW BETTER VERSION OF THIS HEADSET TO BE RELEASED IN AUGUST!-Detailed Review! (Hopefully)-Presentation: They look amazing! I literally love just looking at them! Especially when they sit on the base station!-Red Light: Opt-In is where you need to plug them into, it will cause the opt-out to release an annoying red light which I fixed simply by plugging in the pin that came in with the headset. (You can find images with it plugged in and not plugged in)-I asked Astro Gaming about surround sound, here is some information for you: "5.1 is delivered via the optical cable from the PS4. The Base Station then resamples and upscales this to 7.1 using Dolby processing".-YOU HAVE TO: Charge them 100% battery before your first use.Took me about 4 hours to charge them for the first time. There are 4 white bars with each bar being 25% battery. To see the exact percentage, plug them into your pc and open/download Astro Command Software. (Battery Life is amazing, although they are new so that may change) - (played about 3-4 hours without losing a single white bar (25% each) which is amazing)-Red lightning means: In PS4 mode, White lightning icon means: PC mode.-Microphone opinion: Friends told me that I sound terrible... BUT I played with the Astro Command Centre mic setting and now they really like how I sound.-Game vs chat balance buttons are kind of confusing for me, still working them out. They are useful though. (After using A50 for some time, this feature is my favourite).-Overall the sound quality is actually very similar to A10 which are only about £55. But the surround sound, better audio, wireless, ect... is actually worth the price with the A50s.-I recommend them only if you don't mind spending that much money, if you are OK with stereo then I 100% recommend the Astro A10, but if you want something amazing then the A50 are the way to go!-Hope I mentioned everything that I wanted to, if I can edit the review; I might add bonus information later on, as I spend more time with them.-Edit: If you leave them on the base station for the night, next day you will have low battery. So after charging: leave them on a table or something; use the base station only for charging.

I can't recommend this headset enough.I actually bought this headset from Amazon and after a few months I sold it and started trying other headsets.(For the record I've probably owned around 50 headsets since my addiction started in 2010)So I sold the Astro A50s and bought Sennheiser Game Ones, AKG K702, HyperX Clouds, among others, buying and selling on. After trying all of those headsets and quite honestly finding the Game Ones probably the nicest sound I've found in a headset, I ended up back to buying these A50s a second time. Here's why; These things are so bloody convenient, it's ridiculous. I never realised until the were gone just how good the base unit is. You pick them up to start your gaming session, and while gaming there is no crackling or wireless interference, no drop out and it just works flawlessly. The sound is incredibly good, especially in surround mode for FPS gaming, and the fit and feel is perfect for most heads. These are so good, 3 of my mates have been to my house and immediately gone home and purchased them too.True, there may be better sound in other headsets, but sometimes it ease of use that prevails.I got these from LimeProGaming for £149.99 Refurbished. And they have been awesome.Another good feature is that you can buy a second base station if you are like me and have a PC or Xbox One in another room, and you simply drop the headset into the base station and it syncs the audio from that base.Pros;- Excellent clear audio.- Extremely comfortable for long periods.- Not too heavy.- 15+ hours of battery.- Convenient base station for storing and charging while not gaming.Cons;- Needs a PC to tweak audio profiles. (Out of the box the profiles are good though)- Can't use on mobile devices.- Sidetone (mic monitor) creates a little buzzing sound now and again. Turn off the Sidetone and no buzzing. Think this is an issue with the mic sensitivity. When game sound is playing, it's pretty inaudible though. I like to hear my voice back so I know I'm not shouting.

Can't fault the audio quality, and insanely comfy for a long period of time (even with glasses on), feels well built. The battery has an impressive life span and charges pretty quickly. it doesn't feel heavy and I like that the mic folds away. I have heard you can get replacement attachment pieces (for decoration or to recolour parts of it) but I haven't looked into that to confirm. While the range of the wireless is pretty large, it falls just shy of the range that the logitech G930 can reach (by about 1 meter). The ear pieces are great for blocking out other noises which I feel boosts the quality, (however many people are struggling to get hold of me more now when I wear them haha),I have tested these in a LAN event and they do a good job (The A40 varient too) at removing all backround noise on both the earpieces and the mic.Only have 3 real complaints, The mic is not up to par with the price. I have been told I am very quiet compared to my previous (Logitech G930). However the mic does redeem itself that I can type really loudly on my keyboard and it won't even pick it up (but picks my voice up no problem). The 2nd complaint is the charging dock can be quite fiddly to force it to charge to the point where I need to hold it down on the stand to make the connectors switch to charging mode. The 3rd complaint is the wire which comes with it to charge from is tiny, and there is only 1, to get a replacement from Astro costs £20 because the end of the wire is actually 0.1mm longer than your standard micro usb cable meaning most that you buy will not fit or allow you to charge the headset. So you can either have the dock station powered (where the antenna is), or the headset charging, not both unless you can get another suitable cable. (Luckily I was able to get my G930 wire to adapt to it so I can charge it in use while its low).Regardless of those 3 cons, I am still impressed by this headset.

This would have been a 5 star review if the noise cancelling ear cushions were included, and at the price of these they should be. The synthetic leather cups do a nice job of blocking out sound in a noisy environment. They're quick and easy to swap as they're held in place by magnets. Plus a quick change of profile using the mode switch on the headset. Ideal for when the missus is watching TV or swapping back to the standard ones when you need to hear what the kids are up to. My only other complaint is the range at which these work; I barely get three metres from them and that's just through a pane of glass. I might take them to the office and see how they work in an open space. They sit quite nicely in their charging base and on the head.I like the ability to run sound through the optical and USB connections as this makes balancing game and voice a doddle due to the voice/game switch on the right ear cup. The sound quality is good too, better than my Sennheiser PC350s. I've had no issues with Dolby Digital Surround as some have mentioned, this may be due to the way I've got them running through my Sound Blaster Z. And any issues with bass are easily corrected (at least on a PC) using the Graphical Equaliser in the Astro software.

After trying countless different PC headsets, I was beginning to fear I’d never find the perfect pair. Gaming sets are notorious for sounding bad when it comes to music, but I wanted some that were equally at home when outputting tunes and playing games. Plus, they had to be wireless and needed to fit my Frankenstein’s monster-sized head.I initially bought an Arctis 7 but sent it back for being pretty crap, uncomfortable, and slightly broken. I then decided to spend a bit extra cash and get the Astros A50s. My only regret is that I never bought these sooner. The sound quality is breath-taking in both games and music, the comfort unparalleled, and the robust design is perfect. They sit on my head without me even feeling them – these babies are actually comfier than my Hyper X clouds. The charging station looks and works brilliantly, giving a nice long charge. And the mic produces a crisp, clear sound. The only problem some people may have with the headset is that it does let some sound out, but if that’s an issue then just get the mod kit.£250 is a lot of money, but when you find something so perfect that’ll last for years, it’s worth it.

After years of using Turtle Beach headsets, the last being the Ear Force Tango, I decided to try out Astro, namely this one. And I have to say, I am not disappointed!Well built and easy to set up, the headset is aesthetically beautiful, especially when sitting atop the base station. I have only used the presets and they seem excellent without the need to tinker with the software. Played Fallout 4 and the Special Edition Skyrim and the sounds were just brilliant! The bass was especially good, much better than the Ear Force Tango. There was also minimal interference. Watched the first Transformers movie on my PS4 just to test the sound and the explosions blew my mind! What was especially great was when the Transformers transformed and made that chee choo chee choo sound! Never thought that would sound so cool but these A50s made it so!I also bought the mod kit from US Amazon and while pretty expensive, the ear cups are actually much more comfortable so that's a must! This new A50 is worth the money both for gaming and also watching movies.

I have been using this headset for a few months now and I like it a lot. It's an over-the-ear design and the padding are soft, It's comfortable to wear and even after all-night raiding there's no discomfort in using it. At full charge the battery last long enough for all-day gaming. The quick adjustment you can make to the volume ratio of game volume and TS/Discord voice volume is really handy. There are two things which are a bit annoying - as some other reviewers noted, the docking station can be a bit of a fiddle. You need to push it in at the right angle to make sure that the contacts on headset is properly connected to the cradle and sometimes you need to redo it a few times to make it work.Secondly, this thing seems to have a much shorter wireless range when compared to some other wireless devices (e.g. Bose QC35), so if you wander off you start to lose signal pretty fast. You'd expect better from a headset at this price, but on the whole, I'd say this is a good piece of kit.

These are the first astro headset I've owned after playing afew games on the astros with my friends they complimented how my voice sounds clear it's nice to know they notice this, accurate description apart from when you flip the mic up to mute it doesn't completely mute background noises or my voice for that matter if only I speak abit louder it'll catch it. so why would I recommend these? it's really simple to set up also my ears don't get bugged with loud static, decent battery life and very comfortable to wear for long gaming hours. The mic well.. That's all been said up there I can't think of any reasons to dislike the mic it's crisp clear I've even recorded my voice on PlayStation voice message and happy with the results,Game Audio is perfect and headset volume can go up really loud but bad side is sometimes when my friends talk sometimes their words would cut in and out at random times so at moment I am trying to fix this problem.

A very good headset for both audio and competitive gameplay alike. What stopped me from delving into the Astro brand is that I was worried about their production quality - and therefore I stuck to headphones more suited for audio, but I found various issues with competitive play in FPS games - which were little quirks like too much treble, or headphones which were too heavy and affected your gaming session about 3 hours in.After using the Astros for a few days, it's clear that these were designed with both audio and gaming in mind, and they live up to both fronts, providing immersive surround sound and clear music quality. The price tag is high, but you pay for a top pair of headphones, which have the added benefit of being wireless. Regarding this, wireless delay is almost unnoticeable, and it may even be more preferable in competitive gaming, if the weight or the dragging of wires affect you.5/5.

5 Stars, audio is perfect for all media.I love how the headphones can connect to the ASTRO Command centre via PC/MAC, you can fine tune how you want the headphones to sound. A lot better than the turtle beach pro elite 2. I can hear people running before i can see them especially in COD BO4. Very simple to set up- plug two cables in sorted!I know the price tag is steep, this is my second pair, fantastic quality. I will never buy any other brand again. The MOD kit is also another fantastic option to consider.Pros:Great headphones for gaming.Listen to the enemy running and hunt them downLong battery lifeEasy to use and chargeVery nice base station with battery indicator and USB portGreat withDolby AtmosLong rangeQuality mic with you can fine tune to suit your play style.Cons:No Bluetooth (can't connect to mobile phone)Price is a little steep.Very hard to find a pair.

So Astro are the 'leaders' in gaming headsets for console, very close to Turtle Beach ill give them that much. But as far as game sound and clarity go i feel as though there is nothing groundbreaking there... My old headset ( Stereo wireless 2.0 headset with 7.1 surround sound from sony (50-70£ dependant) Was probably just as good, and while in the game chat people have told me that my other headset was louder and clearer? But as far as Comfort goes... OMG these are soooo nice, soo good like its mad! Over ear memory foam XD. And for music they are spot on, I listen to Deep house and electronic music ( most people will say its just bass and noise though ) and they sound fab,so unless its the game its self throttling the sound i'm not sure... I've only had it a day or so, so i'm still getting used to them, but i certainly do love them regardless, super fresh and comfy 9/10

Being somewhat of a heavy gamer I have no issue with paying a premium price for such an accessory. However, with that premium price comes an expectation of quality and assurance. After a glowing recommendation from a good friend of mine i purchased it without hesitation. It looks sleek and sophisticated, it fits well despite my need for glasses and the sounds quality is quite superb. Further to this, it offers a wide range of custom settings which allow for a customised experience. However, bare in mind to get the most out of it you will need a PC or Laptop in order to apply updates and customise the headsets sound settings.A great piece of kit that i would purchase again.A 16 hour battery life is perfect for nearly everyone.

Very good on PC and PS4. Worked straight out of box on PS4 after charging. Used for about a month on PS4 and all good. Tried on PC after that, and found a slight hiss. After updating the firmware from 18** to 24**, via the PC app, hiss gone. Then I had 6hrs of fun on Discord playing PUBG. Note: Astro recommend doing the firmware update before using.Charging is only available using the base unit, and can be a little messy. Putting the headset back on the dock is fiddly as headset may be slightly stretched from wearing. Patients.Requires connection to PS4 with optical and one usb. Both cables supplied. I have not tried a usb hub. PC connection requires only usb.Excellent sound and chat.Good distinction between both at volume.
