I’ll ignore the fluff and get straight to brass tacks; I have three headsets to compare; the new Logitech G432 (which is an upgrade to the long running G430), the Sennheiser HD25 (a classic pair of audiophile headphones; cheaper than many more recent audiophile headphones, but in my opinion still one of the best for audio), and of course the Kraken. The Kraken is better than the Logitech. The Logitech is a one trick pony that relies on its emulation box of tricks (via its USB connection port). Take the emulation box away and plug straight into audio-out and the G432 is just not that good; it sounds hollow and cheap. The Kraken and G432 are more evenly matched if you use the G432 via its USB port, but then you still have the plasticky Logitech bodywork that looks distinctly old fashioned (its pretty much unchanged since the G430; a 2013 model!). Out of the two I’d pick the Kraken overall.Taken on its own as a gaming headphone, the Kraken does well. There’s simply nothing bad about it. It feels sturdy because it is metal. It is very comfortable, and the sound is perfect for gaming (and movies). It tends towards bass without sounding too muddy, and the stereo separation is good. It rarely goes into distortion at high volume. I used it for a good long session with a modern game that supports modern gaming audio standards (Metro Exodus) and have no qualms with the performance. You also get good noise cancelling via the ear cups; they physically muffle the outside world (bit of an understatement; the ear pads are actually an inch thick!), and you don’t have to turn the volume up much to completely cut out external noise. The ear cups are equally massive (4 inches across, and stand 2.5 inches out from your head on either side – proper aviation headphones!). These are chunky headphones, but also surprisingly light and comfortable. Oh; an additional bonus if you wear glasses (or a head tracking frame); the cups are soft and designed not to press on your glasses so you won’t get sore ears. There's no LEDs or any such fluff, but if you pick the green headphones you don't need flashing lights. The green is very bright and eye-catching. Think neon green marker pen!For listening to music, the Kraken does great given they are gaming headphones. A bit weak in the mids and tends towards bass but that’s to be expected because so do most gaming headphones.Tested against the HD25 and listening to the Battlefield 1 soundtrack (specifically the Flight of the Pigeon), the HD25’s absolutely kill the Kraken in the mids and highs (and equals it in bass) but again, that’s okay because the HD25’s kill most gaming headphones for music.Listening to bass heavy music (Born Slippy by Underworld), I cant tell the two headphones apart, so for things like dance and rap, the Kraken may be a good choice. The Kraken may tend towards bass, but it isn’t as muddy as lesser gaming headphones in the mids and highs. Perfect for listening to music if you are studying because you get decent sound and very good noise cancelling.Overall, the Kraken is actually not bad for listening to music, especially as you don’t need software drivers to make it sound good (as per the Logitech); you can just plug it into a standard audio jack and you are good to go. Plus the HD25’s are not at all good for multiplayer gaming (they don’t have the wide sound-stage that competitive gaming requires, and of course don’t have a mic), so even if you own a pair of audiophile cans, you still need something like the Kraken if you are serious about your gaming.Downsides?None really. The only issue you might see is being fooled into thinking they are open cup headphones because of the grills on the sides. They are not; the grills are just for show! You probably wouldn't wear them out either, as they make you look like a cosmonaut... unless of course you're in Baikonur where the look is bang on trend. So overall, the Kraken is a very good set of gaming headphones, having a very wide sound-stage, decent power in the bass area because of its large drivers, and because it doesn’t require any software, is actually a decent set of general headphones. They are also very comfortable to wear.I actually can’t find much to fault them as a pair of gaming headphones (there wasn't actually much to say about using them as gaming headphones because they worked so well!); all the bases are covered, with no unexpected weaknesses.

These Razer Kraken Ultimate headphones have been designed from the ground up for serious gamers. For the best possible sound quality - including support for THX Spatial Audio - these are USB only. There’s no aux adapter and no wireless functionality. Whilst some home consoles support USB audio, these headphones are clearly geared towards PC gamers that can use the Razer Synapse software (PC only) to customise the setup of the headphones. THX Spatial Audio is also only supported for PC gamers, so although you can use the headset with both PS4 and Nintendo Switch, it’s fair to say they’re at their best on PC.The microphone retracts almost completely into the left ear cup and can be simply pulled out on a flexi boom arm.A squeeze of the mic tip mutes it. On the back of the headset there’s a simple volume control and another button to turn THX Spatial Audio app settings on and off. The ear cups are huge and very comfy, even if I’m wearing my specs. They fit right over the ear and the cushions are gel-infused to keep them feeling cool. I find them comfy even after a couple of hours of gaming. The braided cable is 2 meters long -which I found plenty long enough - and has a handy little cable management tie attached. On PS4 I had to make sure that the console was powered on before I connected the headphones - if they’re plugged in before you turn the console on they’re not detected. They are then detected as “Razer Kraken Ultimate” under Audio input (microphone) and Output (audio). On PS4 you’re getting high quality stereo audio and not THX Spatial Audio, but they still sound great. The only disappointment is that the volume cannot be adjusted very high - the volume control on the headphone did not function, and whilst upping the master volume on the PS4 certainly helps, you can’t make them as loud as I would like. Mic quality was great. I had to turn down the Mic sensitivity in the Playstation settings because everyone said I was too loud.On Nintendo Switch, things were surprisingly really great - I wasn’t even 100% sure they’d work. Obviously you can only use the headphones when the console is docked, and again you’re not getting THX Spatial, but you can really crank them up (the volume control on the back of the headset actually works) and they sounded fabulous. Playing Platinum Games (I’m a huge fan) new magnum opus Astral Chain on Switch was the first time I heard these headphones really perform and they knocked me out, they really did add to the experience. I quickly found myself switching out carts to hear how different games sounded.Using the headphones on my HP Omen laptop was the first time I got to use the Razer Synapse software. It’s easy to use and offers some pretty deep personalisation options - from a ten stage graphic equaliser with presets to mic sensitivity, volume and side tone. You also get to play around with the THX Spatial Audio. Being able to customise the effect in a clean demo environment really does showcase how well it can work. There’s a chopper sound effect that moves around the sound stage and you do get a real sense of it moving from in front to behind as well as the traditional side to side of stereo. In game I found it slightly more difficult to tell what was going on. Doom for example sounded absolutely immense, but I had no real increased perception of where I was likely to be attacked from next. I will admit that my PC collection consists largely of indie games, Steam sales and Humble Bundles so I’m not necessarily playing the very latest AAA titles - I don’t know if that has any bearing.Overall these are fantastic sounding, super comfortable headphones with a great mic. Whilst I have yet to play a game that has truly sold me on the virtues of the THX Spatial Audio system, these are still superb sounding headphones that get a lot of things right.

QUICK SUMMARYA great pair of USB wired gamers headphones with excellent sound, great on-head comfort, and incredible lighting effects for standout interactive sessions. Both the ears and the headphone cups have colour morphing abilities, and the light show is highly customisable. Hugely fun and completely nuts, these headphones will definitely get you noticed online! They’re good for cosplay too, by the way.PLUS POINTS* Unique visuals that let you stand out form the online crowd* Noise cancelling microphone works well, giving you a clean audio feed* Microphone fully retracts when not in use* Lighting effects can be made interactive with sound or online feed.* A claimed 16.8 million coloursavailable for your customisable lighting effects* Good sound quality with plenty of power and punch from large drivers.* Excellent audio spatial separation gives an immersive 3D soundscape* Cosplay mode - store your lighting effect of choice and use it on the go (power bank required)* Also available in green if pink is too much for you.MINUS POINTS* Significant price hike from the standard Krakens without ears or lighting* Not wireless* The Chroma lighting is controlled by Synapse 3 which is only available on a Windows PC.* For full 7.1 surround sound you need a Windows 10 64 Bit pc.A MORE DETAILED REVIEWI began by feeling a little dismissive about these headphones, but I’ve been completely won over. They’re just bonkers, and that’s what I love about them. The world can be dull enough as it is, so who needs another bla pair of boring grey headphones when you can look fabulous with ears and lights, and weirdness happening on your head?!I was surprised by how light these headphones are, and that, together with the gel ear cushions makes them surprisingly comfortable for long term use. It’s possible to forget you’re wearing them, and that adds to the immersive experience when you’re gaming. Speaking of which, the 3D soundscape these produce is really convincing, with accurate directionality that helps you avoid those surprise ambushes! It’s things like that which give you the edge over your competitors. The reactive lighting is a lot of fun, and really lets you stand out from the crowd. Using the Synapse 3 software you need to download the Steamer Companion app, which allows full control of stream reactive lighting. This is a lot of fun of course, but if you earn money through online activity it could really boost your earnings too, encouraging subscribers to be more interactive with your content. The lighting effects can alternatively be controlled by you if you prefer, and Synapse 3 gives you an unlimited combination of colours and lighting patterns that will keep you entertained for hours. I like the ability to pick your effects according to mood, and it quickly becomes an extension of your personal expression.COSPLAY MODEIf you want to enjoy your lighting effects on the fly it’s easy. Here’s what to do:1. Plug your Razer Kraken Kitty Edition into your PC.2. Choose a preset lighting effect using Razer Synapse.3. Unplug your headset from the USB port.4. Press and hold the THX Spatial Audio button.5. Plug your headset into a portable charger.6. Release the THX Spatial Audio button.CONCLUSIONI like these headphones a lot! They’re mad of course, and brilliant because of it. The Chroma lighting adds to the price tag, but creates a real wow factor that adds a huge amount to the user experience. And that makes them great value for money in my opinion. So, they’re bags of fun, and I’m sure would be a real hit as a gift for the gamer who enjoys pink. Or green, come to think of it, because that’s available too. Recommended.

When I look for gaming headsets to buy, I always consider the sound quality (obviously), comfort, noise cancellation quality, the bass (for footsteps) and the mic quality, so this review will be mainly based on those things.Sound QualityThe sound quality is phenomenal, all reviews say “for this affordable price, the sound quality is great”, but I don’t think that is fair, I believe the sound quality is great for 3 times the price of these headphones. Everything is crisp and clear. In addition to this, something I did not expect, these headphones are great for movie watch and music as well! The bass shakes the headphones but doesn’t overshadow the trebles and the highs. The 7.1 surround system software that you can download (with the activation code provided with the purchase) works like a charm and is perfect for fps and campaign gaming.ComfortThese headphones are ultra light and have such a compact build, they feel super comfortable on your head and ears. They have a tight fit but with all the padding, you can barely feel the headphones. These are perfect for long hours of gaming, so obviously ideal for these times with everyone being in lockdown and gaming for 12+ hours a day! Also the mic is easy to move around and very flexible which is always a good feature to have.Noise CancellationObviously there isn’t active noise cancellation technology on these headphones but if Razer said there is, they would’ve gotten away with it! You can barely hear things around you, I have a (extremely) loud mechanical keyboard and I cannot hear it at all which is just great. Makes me so immersed in the gameplay and focus on nothing but that.BassI think everyone can figure out the theme of this review by now! Everything is amazing! That goes for the bass as well. As I mentioned, the bass can be strong enough to shake the headphones but doesn’t overshadow all the other sound fx. In gaming, especially for fps games like CSGO and COD, these headphones will be extremely useful as the footsteps are loud and clear and with the amazing surround system, you’ll never have to guess which way the enemy is coming from.Mic QualitySpeechless! Which is kind of an ironic thing to say for this part of the review. Like I said, I have a very very very loud mechanical keyboard and as you can imagine, all my friends are always complaining, so I would have to put my mic input level to the point where they can barely hear me. With the Kraken X, the mic picks up nothing but myvoice, and it is so sharp and clear and all myfriends noticed it straight away. I tested it out on discord and couldn’t believe how good my voice sounds!Bonus! These headphones look so cool, with a matte black finish and lit green Razer logos on the sides.VerdictWould definitely without a shadow of a doubt recommend these to anyone who is looking for headphones, cheap or expensive! I addition to this, the warranty is amazing and the Razer customer support is fast and reliable.Great experience all around!O Mostafa

-just received the package-the packaging was decent but overall meh. sadly the headphones don't come with a pouch-microphone and speaker test on laptopspeakers ridiculously decent, not the best but far above average, comparing to the Powerbeats Pro sounds relatively the same, 'apart from when the beat drops' as expected. the microphone is not Walmart gaming headphone level but not the best, maybe after fiddling with it my opinion would change. but for now the microphone did not sound as fulfilling as the inbuilt microphone on my Mac.-had to wait for the console to update so that sucked, literally the worst timing.(really triggering).-still waiting for the console updatejust as stated all you need to do is plug into the controller to be connected to the console (xbox 1x).the speakers sound incredible for music, and It means a lot coming from someone that plays with a full sound system normally.noticed the headphones are quite heavy, you can really feel the weight on your neck, but it is manageable. After longer gameplays I would re-review the whole thing.aiit 100% lets go.-Console test (overall)F1 2019The cars sound flat compare to the sound system, an incredible decrease in sound depth *lap times are about a second of :( , maybe i'm rusty or maybe the difference in tone. not sure if its the headphones in particular or all headphones. so take with a pinch of salt. actually to change it to something relatively close to the sound system I went to audio settings, then advanced audio settings then changed radio output device to main output device. it sort of tricks the system, sounds way better and vibrant. Yeah, way better although you become more afraid of locking up.Forza horizon 4 and motorspot 7 (never noticed the game had ads your forced to watch) btw if you want the lego pack contact me.Sounds decent enough, not outstanding but really good.the cars actually sound better than the surround sound, those crackles and downshifts (especially the holy trinity and their modern counterparts). definitely your moneys worth or this game.FIFA, GTA, ACECOMBAT, FORTNITE & COD franchisessounds ok, would go more in-depth after 2 weeks of offline and online play, but right now its just meh.-Overall reviewI got mine, the Razer Kraken for Console for about 52.25 pounds and it was totally worth itpros consSounds good both with music and games a lot of plastic (I personally don't mind)Works on xbox without any setup quite heavytotally worth the price of purchase design is quite cumbersome (just pointing out, IDM)Build seems sturdywould I recommend, 100% on the X or this if price difference is below 10 pounds.I hope this helps, add me on xbox (traplordafro21), or reply to this review for further questions.most likely I wasted my time with this, but if there's anyone that appreciates this you are most definitely welcome.Would be Re-reviewing after 2-4 weeks of ownership.

I've been using this Razer headset for a few weeks now, both for general use and for its intended purpose as a gaming headset. It's a sizeable bit of kit, built solidly with big round metal ear cups, but thankfully doesn't weigh as much as you might think. The cups themselves are quite tight, which appears to be by design to help attain the excellent level of noise isolation. The ear pads are comfortable though, and whilst they thankfully don't itch after longer use, the inside of the cups can get fairly warm. The cable comes in two parts, with a shorter four-pole cable from the headset, and a longer extension cable that also splits the single connector into separate headphone and mic plugs. The shorter cable contains the volume control (not electronic control, but a resistive dial) and mic mute switch. Its length means that it could be used while walking connected to a phone, which works well for calls. My big gripe with this headset is actually the material that the cable is covered in. It's a coarse fabric material, and when it scrapes on anything (even your clothing) you can really hear it in the headset. When you're playing games or doing anything else noisy you won't notice it, but I found it difficult to watch a movie unless I moved the cable to an awkward angle or stayed very still.Below the left ear emerges the microphone, which is the flexible kind that retracts almost fully into the headset when not in use. A slight downside of this flexible design was that at some point I noticed the mic had rotated 90º and I was sounding quiet. Also note that despite there being holes on both sides, only one side is the actual mic; the other is an air vent. Now for the sound. The Razer produces BIG sound, and needs a bit of oomph to do so from the device it's connected to. It's extremely bass-heavy, though that bass is rich and detailed. For gaming, it's exactly what I needed: it allows me to clearly hear the clunk of heavy footsteps nearby, the whoosh of incoming weaponry, and the groans of enemies.Listening to music is not a pleasant experience if you've come from headphones designed for that, but the Razer doesn't seem to be; it's a gaming headset, and the sound is chunky enough to compete in a noisy environment. I wonder if the good noise isolation and heavy sound might be useful to a DJ using them in the noise of a club. With the sound profile caveat above, the Razer is a powerful contender in the gaming headset world. Its main letdown of a scrapy cable seems like a weird oversight, but one that isn't likely to bother someone mid-game. It loses a single star for these issues but that doesn't mar an otherwise strong performance.

I bought these because I was in the market for something good for my games on PC. I was drawn between these and another pair but decided to go with these. They're noise canceling and the microphone works well, but you may need to change some of the settings through the PC for it to suit you better. For the first 3-ish months, you could feel the cooling pads really set in on your ears, it was great. But now they don't really have that much cooling left in them, I can hardly feel it anymore. Not sure if that's just me or the fact I have used them every week. The headset is comfortable though and is adjustable for head sizes. The microphone is stored in the left side of the headset and can be pulled out.I didn't quite like how there wasn't a foam windshield or anything as such to cover it, but I ended up buying a pack anyway, so that's sorted. It has inline volume control and microphone mute with a 3.5mm L-shaped jack. I'm finding that the volume control wheel is a little sensitive, therefore when you do slightly catch it when moving or change position in your seat, your sound will boost to high or will completely mute. Not terrible, but it can be annoying. As I bought the Tournament Edition, I got the THX Spatial Sound Controls, where you can plug in your headset and then plug the THX Spatial Sound Controls by USB into the computer. This has some features that are good to have on hand, such as volume up/down, microphone mute (lights up with a red ring when muted), a 'THX Spatial Audio' button that lights up green when turned on, bass controls and priority between game and chat audio. It has a sticky back so that you can place it anywhere and it will never move. I have it on the leg of my desk and it looks great. When you plug this in, you get Razer's Synapse, which is their version of customisation and full control over the headset and Spatial Audio. It's useful and good software, easy to use, and recommended. The sound from these is amazing, and the microphone holds up pretty well too. I use the onboard sound card. I have also tested these on PS4 and found that they do the exact same job. However, because PS4 doesn't support 7.1 surround sound etc, you can use it to its full capability.Up until recently, the microphone started to sound 'robotic' as my friends would call it. I do think this may be because of my sound card not being up to standard and not due to the headset, which was my initial thought.I've since tested the headset on my laptop, both with and without the THX Spatial Sound Controls, and found it working perfectly, so I'll need to install a new sound card on my PC.

The overall build quality of these Razer Kraken Gaming Headset is excellent and they feel solid without being that heavy but they are, like other gaming headsets, a bit oversized. The ear pads are thick and comfortable and the gel inside does make them cooler than others. There's a hidden recess inside the pads to ease the pressure on your spec's if you wear them and it does help a bit. The headband is chunky but stays comfortable for extended periods. The sound quality for games is really good while being disappointing for music, overall it's a quality sound but it's got too much mid-range and lacks really deep bass. There's excellent detail and that gives a wide and accurate stereo stage, great for games because you can hear where the bullets are coming from and get out of the way. The lack of deep bass makes music sound a bit flat and un-dynamic but it's an advantage for noisy games which might otherwise rattle your teeth with every explosion or gunshot. The sound quality of the inbuilt microphone is good but a bit quiet and you might need to tweak the setting on your device so everyone can hear you. The mic retracts into the earpiece when not in use and you can disable with a button on the inline remote control. That remote control also has a volume control for the headphones which feels a bit basic, in my experience these things are prone to developing crackling and cut-outs after time so hopefully Razer have used a decent mechanism inside. There's a shortish cable permanently attached to the headphones which ends with a combination plug for both headphones and microphone. It's long enough to use with a laptop on the desk in front of you but if you use a larger desktop you might need an extension. You actually get a 2 metre long extension cable in the box and that ends with a pair of jackplugs, one for headphones and one for the mic, so that might work for you. Slightly annoyingly there's no clear indication of which plug is which, only a difference in colour of the isolator rings on each. Overall they're a solidly made and well-designed pair of gaming headphones but if you want to use them for music as well as games you can find a more exciting and fuller sound without spending any more.

Took a little set up, the razor drivers are a little annoying, they require online activation to use the 7.1 features and didn't work at all without them, even with proper drivers. For some reason the servers were acting up, but once I had messed around with them for a while and reinstalled the program and tweaked some windows settings, they work absolutely perfectly and the quality is pretty good. They can go as low as about 30 hz, which for a £50 headset, I wasn't actually expecting, so that's a happy surprise. The sound quality is pretty ace, its not exactly enough to be uncomfortable on max volume, which is good, but I know some people like to have the option to destroy their eardrums. The bass isn't shaky at all, even at high volumes, to be honest I am actually surprised with how good these are. During gaming, the 7.1 features work perfectly (in fps games) but that's to be expected as they're a gaming headset! The microphone is a little annoying, but it is very adjustable and you can pretty much hide it from your eyesight when you're watching movies or listening to music and it stays in place (unlike some cheaper ones that revert back to straight).Microphone quality is pretty amazing to be honest, the volume isn't the highest, you'd be better off getting a standalone mic if that's what you're going for (streaming or whatever) but if you're playing with your buddies or doing general calls, the quality is amazingly clear and there is no feedback or anything.I live in quite an urban area and there are constant sirens and cars, shouting and just general noise pollution, but the moment I put these on (even without playing any sound) I was impressed at how well they block sound. They fit very snugly on my ears and I'm told my ears aren't the smallest. When playing games or listening to music or watching anything, I forget that I live in a busy area, so they're pretty ace. (Unless you're listening for the door, then you're -------.)All in all I would recommend these definitely if you're on a tight-ish budget, or even if you aren't but just don't overly care about the BEST of everything.

4 stars because I've not tested the mic or software. Arguably, the most important things are the speakers anyway!Righto, so out of the box you get the impression that this is a budget product. Sure, the box is nice and all, but inside it is pretty bog standard which is fine. A lot of companies like to dazzle the purchaser with swish packaging that's just going to end up in a whale's stomach anyway so it's nice to see you're not being treated like a nitwit who goes after things because they're swanky looking.I upgraded from a Corsair Void Pro (yes, I consider moving from a £70 product to a £30 product as an upgrade - you'll see why) and was expecting the Razer X to be not as good due to the price.Turns out I was wrong! The USB conector is pretty no-frills (some people like odd-looking connectors, but then some people like drinking petrol so there's no accounting for taste) and the cable is a tough, fibrous plastic. This is important as softer plastics can tear after a few years (the Corsair Void Pro had some very serious cable tearing going on for some reason).Control features are the same as the Void Pro (a headset twice the price, remember?) only not as swish. Button and dial feels cheap, but don't rattle around in their mounts to at least you know they're not going anywhere. The fit is good. Very good, in fact. The headphones fit comfortably over my huge ears, and the headset itself clamps softly over my melon head and doesn't move during rapid head movements or prolonged use. As it's a cheaper product, the headset itself isn't top-heavy and weighs lightly without feeling like the bridge will snap in a couple of months. Speakers are surrounded by some sort of faux leather and provide a rich, heavy sound which is pretty much what most gamers want when listening to grown adults scream like petulant brats during CoD matches. Music is reproduced with charming fidelity that doesn't blot out finer, higher notes with bass.Worth twice the price, really. If you want to replace your headphones with something cheaper without skimping on quality then you can't go wrong here.

Date purchased: May 2020RIP Headphones: September 2020Razer support: UselessI bought these headphones when I purchased my new rig because I redid everything. I wanted a slightly more expensive set but as I spent around 2k on my gaming build, I had to be sensible. I wish I'd spent a little extra at the time and gotten better quality but hindsight is 20/20.For the record, they worked great and I never had an issue with sound quality or voice quality on the mic. The problem is that after about 4 months the sides started to wear through and then snapped completely (as shown in the picture).Because I have limited funds and it's not easy to find the money to replace things, I'm very careful with my stuff.I have a headset stand so these headphones would come off my head and go on their stand until it was time to wear them again. I was not rough with them, I used them as headsets are designed to be used. My previous set lasted over 3 years until there was a fault with the mic itself.I contacted Razer customer support and filed a claim because they should last longer than 4 months. I head back from "Kent" and the gist of his reply was:"Now, going back to your concern. I forwarded the case to our warranty team but failed to proceed with warranty claims as after careful inspection and investigation they deemed the damage as a customer induced."I did NOT cause this. And actually if you look online you'll find more people who've had the exact same issue in the exact same place on these headphones. When they snap, they snap in the exact same place on the headband. That's not a coincidence, that's a design fault. Razer MUST be aware of this and yet they continue to sell this faulty product without addressing the issue all the while blaming their users and denying claims. It's bad faith. It's bad customer support and it's frustrating as hell.So as the title says - DO NOT BUY these headphones. Spend a bit more or go to a better company but I will never buy a Razer product again, they've completely lost my trust.

Some may wonder whether these headphones really are that good. I’m gonna tell you a story. Call of Duty Warzone. It’s the last circle and I’m alone, my teammates dead. As they speak words of encouragement to me, I think GOD THATS GOOD SOUND QUALITY. Situated in Riverside, I sit on the top floor of a house...waiting. I close my eyes, my ears are my weapon of choice and they tell me everything. I hear footsteps below me running up the stairs to my right. I open my eyes and send a RPG rocket at him. Dead. And I think again, GOD THATS GOOD SOUND QUALITY. Separating my team’s voices from the action is too easy. I don’t even have to try, and again I think GOD THATS GOOD SOUND QUALITY. The gas is moving in again.4 Players left. A team of three, and me. This is it I tell myself. I hear a door open across the road and the soft sound of footsteps running up the stairs to the top floor of the building. I train my RPG on the window. Two come into sight. Dead. As the German voices cry through the headset “NEIN” I yell, “take that you krauts”. And again I think, GOD THATS GOOD SOUND QUALITY. Final man. 1v1. Mano e Mano. RPG is my game, but the sound quality of these headphones is my game. As I stare out the window at the two dead bodies, I hear the delicate sound of a door peaking open below me. This is it.I jump out of the window, spring round the side of the house, hear him reloading, smash through the door, my MP5 in hand, I scream F*** OFF GRASSHOPPER, and he’s dead. Simple victory. And for the final time that evening I think GOD THATS GOOD SOUND QUALITY. Another win for the books, another win for the boys, another win for England against three pathetic Germans. I blast Pirates of the Caribbean through the headset and my friends say to me “God thats good sound quality”. I smile. This is my life now. Pure sound quality at all times, wins, ALL THE TIME.

I bought this headset primarily for gaming both on the PC as well as on PS4 and I have not been disappointed whatsoever, this is after buying the Razer Blackshark V2 X which I unfortunately found to be a bit of a tight fit however the Razer Kraken Ultimate I find to be far more comfortable to wear for prolonged periods of time. The build quality is fantastic being reasonably weighty due to the aluminium and steel construction this gives it a reasonable heft to each headphone however not enough to make it noticeable during wear and use. The audio quality is incredibly solid that is with both the output as well as the input, my friends immediately commented that I sounded incredibly clear through the mic and was very well heard. The THX audio support is a very welcome feature and I found that to function very well on games such as Metro Exodus and Hades, the former of which supports THX directly leading to very immersive surround sound. The headset also has some very useful quality of life features such as the cooling gel in the headphone pads which did indeed keep my head and ears quite cool, the microphone is also retractable which allows you to very easily tuck it out of the way when you'd rather have it outside of your vision but even when it is fully extended it doesn't really encroach on your vision that much. Another very handy feature is the easily mutable mic, I found all I had to do to mute it was simply give it a slight squeeze and then the LED on the end of the mic would light up which made it easy to remember that I had myself muted so I wasn't talking to nothing because I forgot I had my mic muted which used to be a common occurrence.Overall a fantastic headset which I honestly can't recommend enough as I have found everything to be fantastic, from the build quality to the audio quality I am not disappointed in any way.

This is a review of the Razer Kraken 2019 headset, which is the 2nd to latest addition of the Kraken lineup, and was a refresh of the previous Kraken models. This headset features Dolby Atmos 7.1 Surround Sound, which is useful when playing battle royale games like PUBG, Fortnite or general first-person shooter games, because by this you can tell where enemies are, as their footsteps can be heard around different directions from you. This feature can also be used for watching movies or listening to music in 8D audio. The headset is easy to set up and plugs into your 3.5mm audio jack, and requires minimal setup. The headset also comes with a spare audio splitter in case your PC has 2 audio sockets, one for mic and output audio. My Kraken 2019 headset came in a satin black finish which looked very modern and stylish, and fitted into any setup. The headset itself was quite heavy and felt good quality, the headset also features soft ear cups suitable for long gaming sessions. The clarity is good and their is barely any noticeable audio distortion. The bass is also high quality and feels really good. The only downside I've found so far is that these headphones are not yet supported by Razer Synapse 3, which is Razer's latest app for managing your peripherals, so if you want to adjust the audio settings for this headset using a suitable GUI, you'll have to downgrade to Razer Synapse 2.Lastly, the price is a little high (Coming in at £80) when placed against other suitable headsets for gaming such as the HyperX Clouds which also feature 7.1 Surround Sound. But in short, this headset is perfect for gamers both on PC and console as they're plug and play and support anything with a 3.5mm jack.

What came in the box:The headset with a connecting cable, it has a functional mute button and a volume control dial on the cable. Alongside the headset, came another cable used for connecting the headset to a PC, the mic and audio cables. Finally, I received some documentation, some stickers and a code for the 7.1 surround sound software - more on this later.General aesthetic:I received my order yesterday, they look great inside the box, extremely well presented. It feels nice, each part is well crafted, pulling the headphones down to fit over the head feels great, nice tactile feel. The microphone is seated inside the headset,if you need to you can pull it and it comes out to about two inches over your mouth so plenty of space.Audio quality:I decided to try them out on the PS4 to see what audio quality was like, it is great. The cooling pads in the headset really make it a lot more comfortable especially when you're in it for the long run.Noise cancellation:I have my music about 80% and there is some bleed, but this is to be expected with over-the-ear headphones, once I have my headset on, there's probably no bleed at all.Other:The only thing that prevented me from giving this 5/5 was the fact that the 7.1 surround sound seems to be handled by a proprietary software that you need a unique code for. If I had bought this second hand I may not have been able to take advantage of this feature. Even still I don't think it is true 7.1 surround sound, I think it is simulated from the software, so bear this in mind before purchasing a used set.Final verdict:Still worth buying, was cheap and just needed something to wear that is comfortable.
