I have an analogue jack headset which can be a pain regarding noise quality so, deciding to purchase a digital one with superior quality and enhanced performance, I searched in shops and department stores in my town and felt disappointed that this product seemed to be out of stock quite a bit and I urgently needed to get this product within 24 hours for a new job, speaking to members of the public so, I decided to purchase one from Amazon. Not only was it in stock, the enormous amount of positive reviews impressed me even further as to how good this product is. It was promised to arrive via express delivery by the following day by about 1pm (I ordered it about 5pm the previous day).It arrived at 10am the next day and was packaged very well, was easy to set up (just plug the usb connector into the computer and away you go). All in all it's very impressive and fast and efficient service! It feels very comfortable on the head (in the short-term for about 2 hours) and, due to the nice soft thick padding to rest on the ears (depends on the size of each person's head though lol) it can be adjusted via sliding sections on the top of the head but I find if the headset is worn for several hours (more than 2) your ears hurt a little even though it's gentle pressure from the padded ear sections, so if you only plan on wearing it for an hour or two then it's ok.As a music-lover, I thought 'Hmmm, let's listen to some songs to test how good the sound quality really is' and was pleased to hear crystal-clear sound. The volume can be adjusted to a higher or lower setting via a function on the headset lead which was easy to use, also, there is a button to click to reduce noise problems (crackling, hissing etc) to enhance the quality of sound when using the microphone feature. If you have Windows 8 as the operating system on your computer, and have any problems with getting the headset to work (it can work or not, depending on the computer), go to Microsoft's official site, download a compatibility file, and it will work fine on Windows 7 and on other operating systems. Brilliant I thought!I recommend this product to others as it's pretty good and not too expensive either as I've seen it priced a lot higher elsewhere.Oh and if you fancy a quiet day and need some peace (noisy kids, neighbours, workmen digging up the road outside your house etc etc), it'll save you buying earplugs too if you just slip on your headset and relax. ;-) Bliss.

Well, what can I say, on first glances, I thought this headset looked quite cheap and flimsy. How mistaken I was, this headset was bought as an all rounder, as I am a big music listener as well as a gamer, the sound on these is great for the price, warm mid-tones and a deep bass, certainly great for really absorbing you into a game environment, as well as providing great music listening capabilities, everything comes through in great clarity, this is also perhaps thanks to the USB connectivity instead of the conventional sound jacks, it certainly improves sound and microphone clarity. As I use skype alot to talk to friends and was previously using a webcam with built in mic, friends notices a huge difference when using the microphone on this, it certainly cancels out pretty much all background noise, with an exception to high pitched noise.I would also like to comment on the comfort of these headphones, although they are bulky and seem quite heavy, I can wear them for hours on end without needing to take them off, although they are a bit tight at first, they loosen up and become more comfortable after a few uses.If you are looking for cheaper alternative to a gaming headset for console (e.g. turtlebeach), I was pleasantly surprised to find that these are also compatible with ps3, giving alot better clarity of speech when playing multiplayer games with multi-player speech such as Call of Duty. The in-line mute and volume control is quite frankly a godsend, it takes away so much need to fumble about with setting on the pc to adjust sound, or it's a quick way to mute if you need to.The wire is quite long and so is handy if you want to move around a room quickly without having to tke the headset off, it's also very sturdy and seems like it could take alot of wear. This headset is also great as it dosen't require software, although it does come with a disk, windows 7 will automatically find the mic and install it for you, without need for the CD, this is the same for console use.Overall, I would highly recomend this product, unless your looking for something really high end, this is a great all rounder for people who use chat aswell as like to listen to music and even perhaps game, hope this helped. :D

These headphones are almost, but not quite, perfect. As much as I disapprove of Microsoft's business practices, they have a long history of making (or rebranding) good quality hardware, and this is no exception.First the good parts. The headphones are sturdy, reasonably comfortable, and the headband is stiff but not too bulky. The little wires connecting the headphone cans are tucked away in the hinges, removing one common failure point. The boom microphone rotates smoothly instead of in discrete "clicks", which is both handier and quieter for the person at the far end of a call. The USB cable is generously long and thicker than that of your average USB peripheral. This does make the cable a bit "stiffer" and "heavier" than usual, but it gives the impression that it'll last for a while. The microphone quality is as good as it gets for headsets: clear and crisp, with (as you would expect) not a hint of mains interference and a low noise floor. It's never going to be usable as a studio mic, but then again, that's not the aim.The device worked out of the box under Linux (64-bit Ubuntu 11.10); even the little "up" and "down" volume buttons on the control panel mid-wire worked. No drivers needed, nothing, just open the audio preferences and select the device as the input and output device. The USB id, for anyone interested, is 045e:070f.Now the bad part: the headphones overemphasise the bass. I know that this is a bit of a "selling point" for some, but it does mean that whereas VOIP is OK, listening to music is something of a hit and miss affair. Certain tracks become almost unbearable because of this, especially music that has a crisp bass line to start with (for example, "Radio Ga-Ga"), and even my old cheapo Trust headset has flatter bass response than these.(I know what the music "should" sound like because I'm using a pair of £300 studio-grade Sennheisers driven by a studio-grade USB-enabled Behringer audio interface as reference). So in short, unless you're going to be using these to listen to music for hours and hours, they're a lot of headset for an incredibly low price.

"But why would it be for Xbox anyway?" I hear you ask. Well, I read a review that claimed this headset worked on their PS3. So naturally, I thought even Microsoft wouldn't be silly enough to let their own technology work on a competing console and then not support it on their own system. WRONG. So to confirm, this headset *does not* work with Xbox 360 at all, in case you were hoping for a cheap alternative to the Turtle Beach X1 (like me). Oh well!I would say that the sound quality is just slightly above average (though a lot better than what I would expect for £15), and just a little tinny/muffled at times. You get used to it though. It's very important to make sure they're snug on your ears by adjusting the headband appropriately (I found this a little tricky, but then I have a rather large head) - that fixes the majority of sound problems. You can also set it to DVD quality mode (48000hz) under the sound devices properties to improve things slightly. It's comfortable, and has reasonably good sound cancellation (not perfect, but that's annoying for home use anyway as you can't hear anyone). The sound blocking is a bit better than most other PC/Xbox headsets I've tried though. And yes, it really does do everything through one USB port (I never realised this was possible) which is spiffy enough in itself, as it's literally plug and play (no jacks!). Vista and Windows 7 recognise it almost instantly and install the drivers automatically (provided you're online), no need for the included CD. One thing these phones seriously lack is a "tone" functionality (bass/treble balancing) which is a bit annoying as sometimes the bass/treble doesn't sound quite right on them.I would say overall, compared to my previous headset at 3x the price, the sound is slightly less good. Note I say SLIGHTLY. For a third the price. I can't really argue with that.

mic clarity 5/5This mic is one .. is the best mic i have ever used, no background noice, or anything. just pristine.Sound 4/5:Absolutely amazing sound for the price, and great bass, very unexpected, i only gave 4/5 for sound as there are likely to be much better headsets out there, but fir this price, this is amazing.Comfort 2/5:This headset is great and fine for the first two hours or so, but for long time gaming as what i use it for, you ears can start to ache, as the ear cups dont cover your ears, they rest on them, Although, this is only a worry when you take the headset off, When on there not uncomfortable, but when you take it off, after a days gaming, it will hurt your ears.Build Quality 3/5:I have had two of these now, first one broke due to the wirering within the headset due to uncareful use. (so thats my fault). So i ended up using it only for the mic until i got a new one, where i found out that the wireing within the 'mute box' became a bit loose, so i had to stick this box to he table to stop from crackling on when i moved the wires. This has also happened to my friends microphone.BUT this is on both cases after 2 YEARS of use. so dont worry.me and 4 of my freinds bought this mic. and only me and one of those freinds has had a problem, and this is all after two years.also, the usb cable is very sturdy.Convience 2/5:I have had no problem with this, as i always keep my mic plugged in. But i have read that some people have. if you only put your microphone in when you are going to use a game/skype etc. you will need to plug it in before you open the application, or the application will not reconise it.Like i said i have had no problem with this as i always keep it plugged in, and when i do have this problem, i just restart the application. no worries.basicly... AMAZING MIC... ESPECIALLY for the price.

Let's be honest - no headset in the £30-40 mark is going to be audiophile quality, and these certainly are not. Neither can you expect more than passive noise cancellation for your ears. That said, the LX-3000's audio quality isn't an insult to music, its acoustic noise cancellation is pretty good...but it's in the microphone that this product shines. Your speech is crystal clear for your beloved listeners. External noise is rejected pretty-much completely. I can have someone mowing the verges outside my house and the mower doesn't disturb others on the call. You can very clearly hear others on the call too - which is what this product is for, after all.Comfort is not too bad. We're not talking Bose QuietComfort QC30 here, and you shouldn't expect it, given that those cost nearly ten times as much. However, I can wear the LX-3000 set all day without significant issues, and that's pretty good for a headset of its price range. The interface is USB. A lump in the cable provides volume up, down and mute buttons, which all work well with Windows. I've not tried them with Linux or MacOS. It's very much plug and play: no drivers needed. In two years of use, I've had no technical issues with them - with one exception. A few months ago, I had to buy another set after the (plastic) post broke that connects the headband to the yoke holding the earcup. Given that I'd been using them typically eight hours a day for nearly two years, I suppose that's acceptable wear and tear - yet again, given the price. It should tell its own tale that I went out and bought a pair of my own - the previous one belonged to my client - to replace it.Stocks seem to be running low in the UK, so get 'em while they're hot!

Used to lighter headsets such as those from GN and Plantronics specifically designed for prolonged phone use, this set seems a bit heavy, but provides better sound for music and does a better job at isolating from surrounding background noise. The cable is long enough, the volume control a bit bulky but more usable than other miniature ones where buttons are hard to find, and the microphone a much better and sturdier design than others I have tried. After two years being thrown in a backpack, going places, connecting to multiple computers, it is still working great.Going into more philosophical grounds, should headsets make you feel like your head is too big? The first few months using the LX-3000,I would end up with a headache. It would take just 20-30 minutes to get there. Definitely too tight! This threw me into a head circumference crisis. Is my head too big? Is that why I was always so clumsy in sports, having an abnormally high centre of gravity? The LX-3000 got me into an unplanned quest for head circumference facts. Encouraged by the suspicion that any big head carries a big brain, I completed the research on the matter in about 5 minutes, gathering overwhelming evidence supporting the fact that my head circumference falls squarely in the 50 percentile for my height. My head is normal! Sports clumsiness must have another explanation! Armed with a hot air gun, I adjusted the top plastic piece to the right angle for my head. According to my research, the LX-3000 probably fits many individuals perfectly. But if you are male, over 180cm tall and don't fancy hot air gun adjustments, headaches, or head circumference crises, perhaps you may want to avoid this one.

I use skype audio for skype-to-skype and for skype-to-landlines for teaching purposes. Recently I have been using a cheap mic and some of my students were complaining about poor reception of my voice due either to background noise or the fact that my voice was faint. The mic on this headset is very good - the sound received by the recipient of your call is very clear with no background noise. A number of my student's commented on the excellent sound without being prompted or being aware that I was using a different headset to the previous week - they noted it instantly. As I have tinnitus, I need a reasonably high volume and I was disappointed to note that the sound volume from the headphoneswhen I first used them on my Windows 7 laptop appeared only medium on max volume (lower than the cheap ones I had been using). I suppose I could reconfigure the settings in Skype to increase the volume when using this with my windows 7 machine. I didn't bother doing this however, because I was intending to use it in future with my new machine (running windows 10) , and strangely, when I connected it to my windows 10 laptop, if seemed to configure correctly with a much higher max speaker volume, without me changing any settings on skype (other than selecting the correct mic and speaker device using the drop down menu, on 'audio settings'). The max volume was automatically very good indeed on the windows 10 toshiba. I can not comment on durability as I have only had it a week, but it looks and feels adequate. In summary, a good device, especially the quality of the sound received at the other end of the call. A good price-quality ratio.

I was a bit sceptical of these when I first saw them and was recommended them but I'm not glad I did purchase them in the end. They are a significant improvement over my old Sennheiser HD201's! Works fine on Windows 7 (without the software installed)I bought these for Skype, listening to music to avoid disturbing the house-mate and also the odd gaming session- turns our they're far better at the gaming and music than Skype! How and why? Because the design firmly shuts out extra noises from your environment, it does mean your voice seems stupid whilst talking on Skype (or when talking when gaming).Sound quality is great - I've actually taken to listening to music on these instead of my speakers (which aren't exactly great anyhow).Possibly a bit bass-y at times but that could be the MP3's more than my music.Microphone works well with Dragon Naturally Speaking, Skype and Mumble (not tested on anything else). Quality is good - no complaints about audio from anyone I've spoken to.As to regards the USB nature of having to restart programs, I found this not to be the case IF you make a few changes in Windows - after plugging in, goto the Sound section in Control Panel - you then see a list of attached devices - if you set the headphones and mic to default device, the PC will automatically switch from speakers to headphones as soon as you plug in and unplug.Overall, an excellent product and one that I hope to be using for a good while yet.

my mic recently wore out, frayed cables, and while fixing it (butt splice) I pulled off the earphone wires, now instead of soldering them back on I decided it would be quicker to buy new 1's (need to borrow an iron from work).when I started browsing this pair came up and Amazon helpfully informed me I bought these on mar 6 2010 very nearly 3.5 years and I'm replacing them now.I use them mostly for co-op games, the USB is a massive bonus allowing your sound card to do more things, I like to play game sounds thru my speakers and comms over the headset, 1 ear only half covered. they are a good size for me,the sound quality has never troubled me and I am softly spoken but rarely do my friends have to turn up my gain on their end so I have to give a good score there.I do find the in line controls annoying sometimes, I always use PTT so the mute button is unnecessary and occasionally gets inadvertently operated, tho easy to tell with the 'mute' LED and the Skype button if inadvertently operated can open Skype causing alt-tabbing but i managed to disable it.so close to 3.5 years and hundreds of hours use later (by small children too)..... maybe 1k+ hours, there's no telling really. they have only just died, the padding started peeling about 6 months ago. real value for money, 4.5 stars due to the minor annoyance but I can't give 4.5 so rounded up to 5.that being said I haven't bought them yet they are in a shortlist of 2 with

Contents: Headset with small manual in clamshell packaging.Installation: Simply plug headset into any USB port and it will quickly be recognised without any further need for software installation. Literally plug-and-play.Sound quality: Brilliant for a headset in this price range, bass is very strong and individual notes are clear/crisp - perfect for listening to music or playing games.Fit: The ear pads themselves are padded so they fit snugly around your ears (but not too tightly), great noise-cancellation too so you can immerse yourself in whatever you're listening to.Microphone: Attached with mouldable wiring to shape to your face. Great at voice recognition and captures your voice clearly, and thanks to the in-line volume control it is easy to use with skype/voice chat, being able mute your mic and lower/up the audio volume with the click of the respective button.Verdict: I've been using this product for about 3 years and save for some minor wear on the ear paddings it is still going strong like the first day I used them. Literally plug them in and wait a few seconds for your Desktop to identify them and they're ready to use. Comfortable ear pads, adjustable headband & microphone for different head sizes. Audio quality is superb and microphone picks up my voice clearly.I can't recommend the product enough, I've tried several headsets and nothing compares to these in this price range!

I bought these to replace a headset where the cable had worn and split.....I wanted a usb headset with volume control and wouldn't hurt my ears. Not having a lot of money and with a lot of the cheaper ones looking very flimsy, I came across this one. It appeared it tick all the boxes, although I didn't want to use the lifechat button. It was very easy to install to my pc and netbook. As my netbook has no CD/DVD drive, I went to the Microsoft website and downloaded the correct driver from there - no problem. This headset is very well made with excellent padded earpieces which sit very well, although it was a little tight on the ears for the first few days of wearing. I often wear them for hours, for skyping, listening to music and streamed tv programmes. The sound quality is so much clearer and bolder than my last headset - everything sounds very true - although the bass could do with being very slightly lower. My husband does complain though that I can't always hear him, but he hears nothing from my headset which is good. When I chat to people on Skype, I have been told my voice is very clear. The cable is a good length to be able to move away from the computer when needed. The only fault I have found, which is very minor, is the volume control can be slightly hesitant sometimes, but the mute for the microphone is fine.

It's a perfectly good set of headphones for the price...and they have come down in price a bit since I bought them in 2015. Not the greatest headphones ever made, but certainly not the worst either. On the plus side, the sound quality is fine, they are relatively lightweight and comfy to wear. The downsides - The humungously over-sized volume/mute control, which hangs down not quite far enough so it always seems to tug on one ear. A clip on the reverse might have been a useful feature. You may also find your ears get a bit sweaty after a couple of hours encased in those airtight headphone cups. Another gripe was the volume control buttons. They never seems to get loud enough.Instead of going all the way up to 11, they only seem to manage a 7. Ticking the 'volume boost' tickbox in Windows sound settings fixes that issue however. While I'm happy I got good use out of this headset for what I paid, I haven't rushed out to buy another. I have instead recently bought the Mpow USB Headset to replace these ones, at a similar price. While it's always sad to say goodbye to a headset that has lasted me so long, I must say I'm very happy with my new Mpow headset. I would even go as far as to say the Mpow headset is superior to this one, even if the volume/mute control is even bigger on that headset than it is on this one.

extremely high quality headsetUp until now I have been buying poor quality very cheap headsets for only 2-3 pounds each, however these would break over time, genereally weren't very comfortable and didn't sound very goodI was a little apprehensive about buying this due to the price difference, however I have no regrets. The sound quality seems to match that of much more expensive headsets, so much so that when I first played some music through the headset, I thought it wasn't working and the sound was coming out of my PC because it sounded so clear and surrounding (it was coming out of the headset BTW)My friends say the mic sounds great on Skype/Teamspeak etc. and the mute function is very useful, however it is quite easy to accidentally turn it on, leading to a little frustration at my friends not replying until I realized. Luckily there is an LED to tell you when mute is enabled so I haven't had any further problems.Anyone looking for either a PC gaming/Skype/conference call headset should definitely take a good look at this excellent headset which is extremely high quality, and very competitively priced for such a good product 9I assume it is only £20 due to the vast quantity sold - (microsoft product)

Have tried a number of PC Headsets with Mics over the years and many, although adequate, have been poor quality in both build and output, lasting only about a year at most even though I am very careful with them...A friend recommended getting a Microsoft headset as he had found them better quality all round, so I bit the bullet and chose these, which were under £20 which was really my price sealing point...I am not a fan of the larger ear dome style, however these are pretty comfortable and although they have a bit of weight they are not too heavy that they feel cumbersome... Sound quality is excellent, in both ears and through mic - everyone has commented on how clear my voice is on mic now, which is saying something lolObviously I cannot comment on longevity, but these are a more solid construction, the cable is sturdy, and was generally plug and play although I use a broadcast software that required a little tweaking, but nothing too difficult.Prior to buying these I did a lot of research and comparisons online, and for this price I am not sure you could do much better even compared to higher priced like-for-like headsets... I would highly recommend these on what I have experienced so far!
