The first thing to remember is that these headphones are coming in at a budget price. They are sturdily made for the money and reminded me a lot of the Sony MDR-ZX310 in terms of build quality and materials. That's a complement rather than a put down at this price point. I tried them out for gaming, VoiP calls, listening to music and listening to audio books. In gaming they worked well whilst playing an iPhone game (Temple Run 2) and Metal Gear Solid 5. The main thing that I found is that the headphones were very light and didn't sound too bright. They provide relatively good sound isolation. It won't be a complete surprise to hear that they were weren't great for music. They had good sound placement and didn't sound too enclosed but there is a definite bass bias to the sound. The rotary dial on the back of the left headphone came in very handy, dialling the volume down made the bass bias more noticeable. I listened to Jovonn featuring Gina Revae - Be Grateful. The Orb - Adventures beyond the Underworld and Vangelis Opera Sauvage - because they are good at showing off the different aspects of the headphone. I listened to the Cocaine and Rhinestones podcast. It is fine for voice, breath intakes seemed slightly more pronounced than normal. I listened John Le Carre Our Kind of Traitor audio book and got a similar experience to the podcast. On VoIP calls the microphone was just as good as the cord that came with my Bose QC-25 headphones. The sound isn't ideal if you're an audiophile but at the money you aren't going to find anything else that competes. I would prefer if the pads were velour as the pleather can get a bit sweaty over time. It would be amazing if they folded. But given that these cost less than £30 you would be hard pressed to find better

In a world of increasingly cheap headsets for gaming I always found that Turtle Beach were reassuringly expensive. The sets I have had cost a fair penny, but they delivered on so many levels. My first stereo set, Dolby, wireless. All of them great headsets that lasted years. The 'Turtle Beach Recon 70X Gaming Headset' is not quite aiming for that high end market, but instead delivers the great Turtle Beach quality at a more affordable level.Compared to others in the range, '70X' does wear its affordability on its sleeve; they are a little simpler and not quite as good looking. However, compared to the market they are aimed at they look very nice. The headset is comfy and the phones do not bleed much sound. The quality of the audio is also pretty impressive and to most gamers they will provide the level of base, and game/voice mix they will want.A neat feature is the flippable mic that you can push and down depending whether you want to mute or talk. This works well, but the quality of the voice chat is not quite as good as some other phones. At this level it is ok, but I have certainly been told a couple of times that I sound a little far away. The set is has a wire that is no longer the norm at the higher end of headsets, but is not really a burden as the wire is long enough for most gamers. As a moderately priced set this is certainly some of the best I have tried, especially compared to some of the lesser known brands. For a casual gamer or one likely to break their set, this is a good choice. Frequent gamers who can control themselves may want to think about treating themselves to a delicious option from Turtle Beach's higher echelons.

This headset is reasonably priced especially from a respected brand in the gaming accessories world such as Turtle Beach. It is marketed in a fairly confusing way by stating on the box and in some parts of the marketing spiel as being ‘Designed for Nintendo Switch but also works with [...] etc.’ (paraphrasing), but on the bullet-points of the Amazon product page it states that it’s ‘Designed for PS4 Pro and PS4 but also works with [...] etc.’. In a nutshell, it uses a 3.5mm connection so you’ll get the standard fair devices working with it.It’s not a premium headset, so you’re not going to get any metal construction, high-end cushioning or breathable materials, and the audio performance whilst perfectly adequate for a lot of gamers it’s not going to sway any audiophiles or gaming purists who would be seeking a broader and more powerful range of audio response and frequency. The sound quality is fairly solid and not too shrill. There is some bass but it’s not particularly punchy or wholesome.Overall, they are comfortable to have on, with good padding in the right places. They sound perfectly reasonable although for longer stints of gaming they do get a bit warm and sweaty. If you want to use them more multi-purposefully and listen to a lot of music, you might not get the rounded and full audio performance that you’d want, but then these are a budget-orientated headset so they were never going to be suited to that.

This is a seriously budget headset from Turtle Beach but despite the price tag, it's well made with good, basic features. I've used it with Xbox One and it has worked without any problems. The headband and ear cushions are reasonably well cushioned, although after a couple of hours the comfort level drops significantly. To be fair to the Recon 70P this is pretty common with gaming headsets and the design is good enough that if your session is only an hour or two they are absolutely fine. Beyond that, if you take a break they feel better after taking them off your head for a while. The headset connects using a standard 3.5mm jack and this therefore offers a lot of compatibility. The built-in microphone works very well and will mute itself once flipped up, which also works as advertising. It's a handy feature although I confess I have struggled (probably unfairly) to trust it and I'm still wedded to my mute button.Sound quality is good, there's no question that I've heard better quality audio through more expensive headsets, but for the money here the Recon 70P does a fantastic job and hasn't let me down in any of the games I've played. Sound is clear and with reasonable direction. More bass would be nice.If you need a new headset and want a trusted brand without breaking the bank, for £24.99 the Recon 70P is definitely worth a look (or listen). There is even a choice of colours. I thoroughly recommend these.

You can get some Chinese brand gaming headphones for a little cheaper with a few more additional features (dazzle lights, on-cable volume control), but if you're willing to sacrifice the frills for a little better sound quality, then the Turtle Beach Recon 70X headphones that won't break the bank like some of the high-end models. These are lightweight and comfortable, the cups covering the ear have a soft leather-like cushion. They have a left-right rotation to ensure a good fit. There's a thin cushion on the headband. There's no pressure or tightness wearing these. The height is adjustable, but a little stiff. You have to be careful if you are adjusting the headphones while wearing them,as there is a volume control on the back of the left earphone, and it's easy to hit it accidentally. Remember this if you put them on an wonder why the volume might be low. Other than that, these are basic gaming headphones that deliver bright clear sound that distributes nicely with a great surround effect. The bass is a little low for me, but it's better than being muddy and indistinct. The cable is soft rubber coated and the connection is the standard 3.5mm jack that you would use to connect headphones to a PC, laptop, phone or mobile device, so it's compatible with X-Box One and Nintendo Switch.

This fully adjustable Turtle Beach Recon 70P Gaming Headset for the PC, PS4 Xbox One and Nintendo Switch is very good looking and particularly comfortable, it is designed in blue and black and has plenty of padding on the ear cups and head band. We have purchased Turtle Beach Gaming Headsets in the past for the Xbox and have been really pleased with them. These ones are equally as good. They sit comfortably over the ears blocking outside noise extremely effectively. Used for online gaming they are just about perfect, with its noise cancelling microphone it is almost completely lag free and vocals sound like vocals should, you can actually tell who you are speaking to by voice alone! The microphone is well made and pretty sturdy and a feature that I really like is the ability to remove yourself from an in game chat immediately simply by flipping up the mic. When playing first person shooter games (like call of duty and modern warfare) the lag free environment makes it easy to hear people creeping up on you ... a real bonus. The in game sound effects sound superb.Used for audio (music and the like) the quality of sound is like nothing you've heard before (in this price range), base sounds just as base should. To sum up ... worth every penny.

Once upon a time this used to be one of the best brands for PC audio products, a proper old skool set of gaming cans not unlike a seventies chopper pilot. I quite like the look, the build quality is decent not the absolute best but what do you expect for around £30. Compatible with Xbox, PS4, Nintendo, PC, mobile a 3.5mm jack cable is provided to allow connectivity these are cabled only not wireless or bluetooth. An over ear design which for me is a much more comfortable design especially when it comes to prolonged gaming / listening. Mic is situated on the left side can be swivelled down in use and flipped up to mute. Charging is via USB so no expensive sets of batteries using the provided USB charging cable.Whats the sound like?Well pretty good, the soft synthetic leather earmuffs provide good noise isolation from the outside world. Bass is pretty punchy, trebles and midtones are clear and sharp, overall you can't complain about the gaming sound experience. These aren't on par with a much more expensive Logitech gaming headphones I reviewed a little while back, but for the price bracket if your budget is stretched these are a very good inexpensive option.

This is the 3rd pair of Turtle Beach phones I have, and the first that are not powered.Turtle Beach was a revelation to me when I came across them, I didn't know headphones could sound like this.As said, this is the first pair I have had that are not powered. Just plug them in to the 3.5mm jack socket.I've only given 4 stars for one reason. I didn't like the exposed wires either side of the headband. To me that's asking for trouble. All it would take is to get them snagged, pulled, snapped, and that tiny wire would kill these. I really don't know why they wanted to leave it exposed like that, and such a tiny wire too.So, that's the only complaint. The rest is good news. For £30 these are pretty amazing for sound and comfort.not as comfortable as some of the others I have, which seem to have more padding for the top of the head, but the cups are about the same. The same wonderfully comfortable memory foam. The wire has a nice rubberized coating. The mic tucks away out of sight.Sound wise, these are impressive, especially considering they don't have the powered bass.I'm not sure how you could go wrong with these.

I bought these for when I am recording my YouTube gaming channel videos via my Samsung S8 and playing on the PS4.Regards to the microphone. I found my recordings to be much clearer and crisper than they were with my previous headset. I'm not the loudest speaker and the microphone has no problems picking me up. It is also great when gaming on my PS4.The sound in the earphones is also fantastic. When platjng Fortnite I could hear everything far more clearly than my other headphones. For anyone having issues connecting to the PS4. It's not.plug and play. You have to go into settings and devices to set it up.But yes...very pleased with my purchase. My recordings are far better than they were before.Update:I'm now coming to the end of April and they're still working brilliantly. They are well made, with great sound. I use them a lot, because of recording for my channel. I think they're amazing quality, given the price. I even have them tagged in my video descriptions and recommend them to anyone looking for a good headset that want break the bank.

Firstly, this headset is not quite as garish as the image suggests. They are comprised mostly of black plastic with some lurid green detailing. Whilst the plastic doesn't strike me as being of the highest quality, they are solidly constructed and are comfortable to wear. There is a 3.5 mm cable which you can plug directly into your device including your Xbox One controller, and you'll find a volume control dial. The pads are more on ear than over ear but they are soft enough not to cause discomfort and I didn't find my ears sweating despite even after two hours of solid use. The microphone flicks into place easily and picks up sound well. The sound is quite impressive, with good separation of music, sound effects and voice. Bass is a little heavy but for gaming that works to their favour, but they also handled TV and movie streaming surprisingly well, although I experienced two very brief instances where sound dropped out altogether whilst watch a UHD film. Overall though, these are quite impressive and seemed reliable in most circumstances.

At the current price of £30, this headset is amazing value compared to other models of Turtle Beach gaming headphones. The mic is moveable and very sensitive, making in-game chat easy (though it would have been even better if it was longer and/or detachable). The speaker quality is very clear when used on an Xbox One or Nintendo Switch. The volume control on the headset is a useful addition. The build quality is great – the set feels reassuringly sturdy. The headband has a wide range of adjustment, making the headset suitable for all sizes from adults down to small children. The set I received for review was black and red, which matches a red Nintendo Switch very well. The only minor downside,as compared with a slightly more expensive Xbox Turtle Beach headset, was that the headphone band is a slightly strange shape, lopsided towards the front of the head; when using the headset on the go, it feels as if it might come off. For this sort of value, however, for this sort of value it’s a minor quibble one can forgive.

Turtle Beach are a well known brand in the gaming industry and this pair, while at the budget end of the spectrum, does not disappoint. This is a black and bright green pair of over-ear headphones with an adjustable headband and a microphone which can be folded away, on the left. The earpieces are generously padded with faux-leather which provide a comfortable experience after long hours of use. I did not get excessively hot ears from these.I tested these on World of Warcraft on my PC laptop, by simply connecting the 3.5mm connector and using them straight away. The upper notes are crystal clear, midtones are rich and bass is resonant. They are also quite good at noise-cancelling as I play with the TV on in the room, and could not hear it.There is a handy microphone which can be pulled down for use or pushed back up out of the way when not in use. I tried this out while gaming and the sound quality is also good and does not pick up background noise.Overall a good pair of budget headphones for gaming.

Surprisingly good shape ear pads for my ear, I was surprised that they fit this well at this price range however they are quite small for me which is good for blocking out background noise but after a long wearing time give me headaches. The microphone is okay at best, its shorter than I would have liked as I feel it doesn't cover my mouth as well as I'd hope however the bonus here is that it doesn't get in my view while gaming at all and I can drink without worrying about hitting it. The design it quite nice, with a red cable and cushions and a mostly black exterior.Sound quality is pretty good in my opinion, not amazing but doesn't have annoying problems with cheaper speakers like sounding tinny and vibrating when it gets loud.It comes satisfactorily packaged, so hopefully it won't damaged.Overall, this is a solid headset - comfortable for casual gaming, good sound quality and an okay mic. I would recommend picking this up for a smaller console like a Nintendo switch or a handheld device.

We have a couple of pairs of Turtle beaches in our household and I would always recommend them. These are really comfy, great at blocking outside noise, which is great if your kids don’t like being told when to come off the Xbox as they can pretend they can’t hear you... this pair plugs straight into the headphone jack on the controller, so are very easy to set up, and for this reason can be used across consoles and just as a pair of good headphones for your phone or tablet as well. I quite often use them for watching movies on my laptop as the sound is great. The mic folds up so it can’t be moved out of the way when not in use. The other pairs that we have have the adjustable sound/mic settings which this set doesn’t have,my son has complained that at times he can’t quite hear as well, so if you’re using this as a gaming headset as opposed to just headphones it might be an issue for you. Otherwise it’s a really great basic gaming headset.

I have a few different gaming headsets, from an Amazon Basics up to Turtle Beach's Elite Atlas Pro. This sits somewhere in the middle - it has decent cushioning and rotation on the ear pieces but not a lot of padding on the top cross piece, the connection is a 3.5mm jack only and it is permanently wired. The sound quality is pretty good - differentiation between left and right sounds works well and there's plenty of oomph if you need to go louder. The microphone also mutes when you flip it back which is a nice touch. The headset is marketed to the Switch and specifically to playing Battle Royale-style games - I can't personally see anything that makes it unique for either the console or the type of game (apart from the matching colour scheme)so if you have an Xbox, PS4 or even a PC, it will still be fine.In summary - a mid-price headset providing a good level of quality. It's not the greatest in the world but fine for what it does.
