There is so much negativity, fanboyism and downright ridiculous comments about this game that I feel inclined to pitch my views.Like most, the moment I saw the original reveal trailer I could not contain myself. Despite the constant stream of negative news regarding season passes/lack of content/the beta etc, I found myself eagerly anticipating release date. Battlefront is probably the first game of the next generation era that I could not wait for and had to buy on day one. Did it live up to expectations? Damn right it did.My initial reaction to playing my first Multiplayer match was one of disbelief at the graphical and audio quality of the game. Everything in the game looks and sounds EXACTLY as it does in the films /visual guides. The graphical quality of this game is up there with DriveClub and Alien Isolation for me. Aesthetics are one thing, what about the gameplay? I love it! Finally, a shooter that is just simple and easy to pick and up play. I personally rank Bad Company 2 and Call of Duty 4/5 as the best shooters ever partially due to their simplicity. One attachment per gun, 3 perks etc. Everybody is on the same playing field, if you're playing bad it's because you're playing bad not that someone has some overpowered gun/attachment/perk combination. Anyway, back to Battlefront. The simplicity of you choose a gun, choose 3 star cards (combination of grenades and abilities) and a trait (when you get to the high levels) removes so much of the complexity that Call of Duty or Battlefield offer, something I personally have been crying out for.The game modes vary in terms of quality. Walker Assault is what Battlefront was made for. The rebels, with their makeshift turrets vs the might of the Empire's AT-STs and AT-ATs. The AT-ATs move on-rails to a certain point and the rebels have to call in Y-Wings to disable their shields by activating 2 uplinks stations, (similar to Battlefield's Rush mode). It is the perfect balance of attackers vs defenders gameplay that brings all the elements of Star Battlefront (Vehicles, Heroes etc) together. Other enjoyable modes are Supremacy (Killzone's Capture and Connect), Drop Zone (CoD's Headquarters), Droid Run (Domination) and Fighter Squadron (Air Superiority). Some of the other modes suffer because of their own unique problems that reduce the fun element of the gameplay. Cargo (just turns into who can camp better), Hero Vs Villains (Little co-ordination between Heroes and Infantry), Hero Hunt (I can do 99% damage to the hero but the person who inflicts the final bullet plays as the hero, pointless), Blast (it's just Team-Deathmatch).An FPS succeeds on its map quality. Battlefront's map design barring the odd poor spawn zone is pretty good. The problem is, you just wish there were more (More on the season pass in a bit). As others and I have highlighted, the best game mode, Walker Assault only has 4 maps. Yes 4. While each one is well designed, unique and extremely enjoyable, you just wish there were more. The Battle of Jakku free expansion is only adding 1 more, but you just wish DICE would have focused more on this mode than padding out the other modes. In addition to the multiplayer you get 8 missions which are basically you + offline bots vs offline bots which are quite and fun and remind me of Battlefront 1 and 2 on a smaller scale. Once they have been 5 star'd, I can't imagine you'd play them again though. Survival mode is similar to the missions but it can also be played Co-op online or splitscreen and sees you fighting 15 waves of enemies with increasing difficulty. The big question is; does the content justify a £40 price tag? Personally I think yes. The quality of the multiplayer alone justifies the £40 for me, yes it is lacking maps but the disc hasn't left my PS4 since launch which is testament to Battlefront's quality. There are problems with this game, let’s start with the ridiculous Season Pass malarkey that is plaguing the industry. I simply cannot justify or defend spending £40 on the Season Pass for Battlefront or any other game. The fact that the season pass is likely to have more content than the base game is typical EA, and I ask everyone reading this not to support this business model any longer, it is destroying the gaming industry. Additional problems are the weak modes, awful voice-overs and the occasional glitch. In summary:+ The best graphics and audio in a Star Wars game ever+ Extremely enjoyable gameplay+ So many nostalgic touches and a sense of immersion in the Star Wars universe+ Simple friend join system+ Each vehicle is unique and easy to get to grips with+ Most importantly, FUN to play!- £40 Season Pass, do not fund this business model any longer- Hero voice-overs are appalling- Some modes are weak- Not enough maps for the best modes- Some game-balancing issues (Walker Assault on Endor, Hero Hunt)8/10.

Given the amount of bitter negativity aimed at this game, I was almost hoping I didn't get it as a Christmas present. It's always awkward receiving a present you don't like. But you know what, I absolutely love this game!I am utterly astounded not just by the level of abuse but the completely over the top, and in some cases false statements made about it. I am and so glad the 1 star reviewers don't review games for a living. To rate a game as such it needs to utterly stink in every way. It doesn't and those ratings are unjust and unfair. No, it's not to Battlefield standards in many ways, but is it a beautiful looking, fast paced, action packed, fun filled blast? Yes it is!And it's all set in some of the most iconic locations in Star Wars! Some of the bitterness is aimed at no single player campaign. Firstly, who said there was going to be one, secondly there are single player challenges, training missions and battles to complete, thirdly I have played lots of other FPS' that have either no single player or a very weak one that's just an afterthought. This game has always been geared around online multiplayer. And?!?! Running or flying around Star Wars locations with hoards of other online players taking part in massive battles is so great.People have criticised the accuracy or hit detection of weapons, and the fact you can seem to empty all your ammo into someone before they casually turn around and kill you with one shot. This is annoying, however it's something I've moaned about with every FPS I've ever owned. There always seem to be players with super powers. They may be a better player, with better weapons, get a headshot, be plain lucky or they may have a "perk" active which grants a health boost or greater weapon accuracy or power. As always in these types of game, sometimes your on fire killing everything that moves, sometimes you can't hit fish in a barrel!Compared to Battlefield there's very limited weaponry and no customisation that I know of which is a shame, but there are plenty of weapons to choose from and additional powerful weapons that can be used once, then again after a "cool down" of a short time. It does mean you don't spend hours tinkering around with weapons trying to get it set up right, only to find it's not really the gun you wanted anyway. I suppose they may also want the guns to be true to the movies. The big main Heros and Villains like Luke, Darth, Han and Fett are playable characters. Depending on the game mode you choose you can get a chance to be one of them, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. I believe some have complained that Luke for example has no long range attack. Well he can use the force at range, deflect enemy fire back at them and jump ridiculously high out of trouble. Darth has similar powers and can throw his lightsabre at enemies. These characters are very strong and can seem unfairly so, but on the flipside they are a major target for everyone. One person everyone wants to take out is the main Hero or Villain on the opposing team. They're not indescribable. One thing I am very disappointed by is the way there is additional paid-for content immediately available. It's like they intentionally held back some of the game to double their money, however at this moment I certainly don't feel the game is tiny. Especially with the addition of the gorgeous Jakku level as a free download, and with lots of online game modes to choose from, there feels like there's lots to do. There's big rumours of more free content to come. I'm hoping the season pass will reduce in price. Again this kind of behaviour is not unheard of and many developers do it. They did it with Destiny big time.As always it's all a matter of taste and some people will always like, and others will dislike the exact same thing, but although it has some shortcomings I think this is such a good game and one I look really forward to playing.

First off, lets discuss the apparent reviews that mark down a product incorrectly for the lack of a campaign. The game never advertises itself as anything other than what it is. An easy to pick up and play online multiplayer experience and I stress the online! For those of you who require a single player campaign mode, go elsewhere. Don't buy the game and then falsely review the product based on your stupidity for failing to read the box. What the game offers is a compromise between the often over elaborate levelled and unlockable call of duty and battlefield. Where you can spend hours trying to filter through the unnecessarily long options screens only to find a load out that inevitably gets you killed just as quick.Instead, what battlefront focuses on is the raw gameplay of being able to quickly access the main content...the game. You don't have to endlessly search for cosmetic differences are plough through weapon stats. You can just pick up any weapon and have a blast! The perk system it uses is also very clear and simple to use, all unlocked via in game currency awarded for your achievement on the battlefront. For those that do require unlockable items, the game has several tiered character skins and increased upgrades to perks. The gameplay is slick and accurate to the Star Wars universe, remember this shouldn't be compared to COD. It isn't modern warfare. It's boasters in another universe! The map design is fantastic and the opportunities for all types of gameplay are offered, from fast direct gun battles to sneaking around to exploit a weakness. The game modes are also well thought out and offer a variety of modes. Supremacy and walker assault are the big two 20v20 full assault in this game. However, a big shout has to go to the smaller modes, especially heroes Vs villains and Cargo. On top of this, the game also offers a fantastic two player, or dare I say it, single player option which allows you to team up and stave of wave after wave of incoming imperial troops, think the acclaimed zombie mode from Black ops, which is very addictive. Finally, the game is topped off with an addictive challenge mode where you get to complete scenarios from various missions from the Star Wars franchise, speeder bike through Endor, X-Wing fighter through the trenches of Tattooine.Moving on to the gameplay, this is by far and away the most technically advanced game in terms of graphics of this new generation. I honestly have been somewhat disappointed with the current gen of graphics (fallout 4 included) but I promise you this game will give that big tv a workout! The Endor Forrest alone is worth the price of admission. The musical score is also perfect and the sound effects in general are of the highest quality. The only slight negative are the main characters (heroes and villains) voice acting, which as try as they have, nothing substitutes for getting the real actors to do their bit. I guess Harrison and co, we're just too busy!Overall, if you can read and don't expect to pick up this game for a single player campaign you won't be disappointed. It isn't perfect, but then very little is. The maps are varied but aren't as many as expected. A free map from the new movie is coming on the 1st of December, but as is the norm started by the other first person shooters, the content is locked behind future DLC. Yes this can be annoying but, it is the reality of gaming and unfortunately will continue. Reference Destiny, Batman and of course Call of Duty. If you're looking for a gorgeous alternative to those games with quick and easy options that get you in to the action, look no further. And come on... It is Star Wars after all!

Star Wars: Battlefront is, if I am honest, an entirely new experience for me in the genre of Star Wars games, the last Star Wars game I played was The Force Unleashed (that I loved) and while I was entirely aware how different these two games would be I was not prepared to enjoy playing Battlefront as much as I do.Battlefront is, an online game. The player can partake in game modes such as survival solo, but the true experience is one that the player will find with other people. This in turn means that there is no campaign, which means there is no story beyond what the player can sift through the cutscenes at the beginning of a game. While this may seem like an enormous drawback the multiplayer is so diverse and exciting that it is easy to forgive the lack storytelling or solo-ability in the game.Battlefront online multiplayer possesses a diverse amount of activities and game modes to take part in, such as fighter squadron where the player will fight as either the Rebel Alliance or the Galactic Empire for control of the skies. There is also a ranking up system and a currency that will allow the player to purchase additional weapons, character skins and perks. An additional side of multiplayer is the ability to play 2 Player splitscreen on several game modes, however the lack of splitscreen options in both the limitation of only 2 Player and not 4 Player splitscreen, and in the small amount of game modes available to split-screen players can be frustrating in its lack of gameplay diversity.Gameplay in Battlefront is extremely enjoyable, not only because of the fantastic sound effects of blaster fire, or hearing the original John Williams score from the films, but because it doesn't feel like just another First-Person Shooter. Instead of ammunition the player receives a cooldown on weapons (if they become overheated) and grenades, which is an interesting change of pace, and requires more forethought from the player. The Hero pickups in Battlefront are arguably one of the most enjoyable aspects, whereby the player can take on the role of one of six heroes (Three for each side) or two Hero ships. Heroes are incredibly powerful, but are limited by the fact that they lack health regeneration so they can eventually be taken down. Heroes can also do battle with one another, each having different abilities that make them all unique but also equal enough so that no Hero can be called 'superior' to another. This can be frustrating for some players who adore realism, if they were to witness Emperor Palpatine being spanked by Princess Leia.Graphically Battlefront is very aesthetically appealing, whether it is seeing red blaster lasers flying across a blue sky or an Imperial AT-ST exploding in a satisfying burst of fire or perhaps just adoring the beautiful scenery of Hoth, Sullust, Endor or Tatooine. Both character and Fighter movements stay incredibly loyal to the film franchise and are rendered perfectly by the developers which makes the player feel like they are truly immersed in the Star Wars universe.Overall Battlefront is a great game, one that I genuinely enjoy playing, the sound and visuals are astounding and the gameplay is highly enjoyable whether on land or in the air, lightsaber or blaster. However there are drawbacks, I cannot help but feel that the splitscreen multiplayer has been largely ignored in favour of online multiplayer, whereas it would have been interesting to have seen splitscreen available in online matches.

I bought this game last Friday and have been picking it up regularly to play whenever I can!I played the original Star Wars Battlefront on PC and Battlefront II on the Playstation 2 and I am a massive fan of both games and the Star Wars mythos.I picked up the game from a point of cynicism as well as a desire to play a slightly more simple game. After all, I've spent the last few years of my life playing over-sized and content riddled RPG's and I quite fancied something that I could just pick-up and play when I get back from work etc.I was aware of the industry controversy surrounding the game before I bought it, e.g. no single player campaign, only four planets etc.but frankly this had little affect on my decision to buy it. I wanted simple and I got it.The single player aspect of the game is admittedly rather simple and swift. There are 5 relatively useful tutorial maps, 4 single player maps and 4 survival maps. The survival maps are my favourite aspect of the single player by far. The maps are extensive and interesting and great fun to play with friends etc. The regular single player maps are relatively boring, small and there's only one game mode where you essentially collect tokens from defeated enemies. First to 100 wins. Boring. You can spice it up by playing as a hero but honestly that doesn't make much difference.Personally, the strength of the single player mode is that you can play split-screen with friends. An increasing number of games are ridding themselves of this feature which has irritated me quite a lot. I've always enjoyed playing games with mates over weekends and it just isn't the same over online co-op for me. Hard to drink with a friend while playing if your not in the same room. The real strength of this game is in the multiplayer, which I'm sure many people expected. I am a multi-player cynic and very rarely enjoy anything which is hammed up as a multiplayer focused game. However I kind of bit the bullet with this one and decided I'd give it a good go.There are several game types such as Droid Run, Drop Pod, Heroes vs. Villains and Walker Assault. All of them are relatively fun and provide an insight into a different aspect of the game play. Drop Pod is pretty fast paced for example and Heroes vs. Villains sees teams of three heroes from both factions (as well as a few standard troopers) fighting it off in a team deathmatch. Bloody good fun and probably one of the most accessible game styles. I killed both Luke, Han and Leia as Emperor Palpatine in one round on my first ever try.The best game mode that I've experienced as yet is the Walker Assault. It's definitely the mode which has managed to best capture the essence of the films and what made Battlefront a great gaming experience all those years ago. It pits the Empire vs the Rebels on large sprawling maps, the former protecting the ponderous advance of their AT-ATs with the latter attempting to activate satellite systems which will result in devastating bombing runs by Y-Wing Bombers.Great fun, easy to pick up and highly addictive. I've not had time to digest the overall impression of the game yet but I bought it for good fun gaming and I got it out of it. Don't expect something that's going to blow your mind.

As you would imagine from an EA and Dice collaboration, this closely mimics the latest Battlefield game, and is very much geared toward online multiplayer action rather than any substantial single player mode or campaign. It is, however, a lot more arcadey than Battlefield; you're not playing as a certain class with specialised weapons and tools (though you can unlock different blasters and special devices), and central to the game is the running around and picking up of power-ups that are dotted around the map. It's fast, furious, and pretty disorganised, and apart from "partner" mode which allows you to start by a buddy's side, there is no particular encouragement or support for working tactically,or even collaborating as part of a team for that matter. Everyone on your team are all doing their own thing for the same side, so to speak. On the plus side, the aesthetics of the game are fantastic, with decent maps based on various locations from the Star Wars universe, brilliant authentic sound effects (the familiar sound of blasters, Tie Fighters, X-Wings, lightsabers and so on), and the unique powerful background score from John Williams. For a die hard Star Wars fan, it feels like you are right there doing what you've dreamt of for the past 40 years or so.There are some slightly varied game types such as Walker Assault (BF fans will recognise the "Rush" origins, while Star Wars fans will simply love the atmosphere as two AT-ATs try to reach their end zone target), and Blast (TDM), Cargo (CTF), and Droid Run (mobile base capture) game modes, as well as some others.Adding an extra Star Wars ingredient is the ability to play as a Hero - Luke, Hans, or Leia for the Rebels, and Vader, Palpatine, and Boba Fett for the Empire side. There are some game modes well suited to this (such as Hero Hunt where one team of troops is pitted against a single hero), though in the bigger game modes they might be felt to be something of an unnecessary distraction as they run round the map, making short work of any ordinary soldiers who can't get out of their way!Overall I like the game, it's good fun and looks and feels brilliant with the whole Star Wars package - but I do feel it's somewhat lacking in the underlying gameplay, and it would have been brilliant if you could play the role of hero or fly the Millenium Falcon with more of an objective (perhaps through a single player campaign) than simply being a temporary overpowered player in a MP battle. In summary, as long as you like Multiplayer FPS games:If you liked Battlefield but are not into Star Wars, this probably isn't for you.If you liked Star Wars but not particularly Battlefield, you will almost definitely love this game.If you liked Battlefield and are also into Star Wars, you'll probably feel this is arcadey, but in the end it's made up for because, well, it's Star Wars. And they have AT-ATs, Tie fighters, X-Wings, and the Millenium Falcon. What Star Wars fan can resist that?

I have always enjoyed FPS's with COD dominating my gaming time until the last 3 years when i moved over to Battlefield 4. I am a slightly above average player with K/D of 2 on Battlefront.I played the Beta and was impressed by the graphics and the ftwo maps they let us play. However, i like things simple and TDM is my fav game mode. Battlefront call it Blast. I downloaded the 10hr free session from EA access (highly recommend this if you like BF, Titanfall, any sports sim and the amazing Dragon Age). I played for 5hrs today.........and i totally loved it.\I bought Halo 5 last week and the graphics on Battlefield are substantially better. They are fantastic and show off the power of the next gen console.I found myself looking at the detail and admiring the skyscape as an arriel battle unfolds above me. It is not just that the graphics are good, it is how immersive the environments are. Whatever planet i am on, it feels like i am there, living out my Star Wars fantasy.Coupled with the great graphics is the sound effects, leading to an immersive experience. It dragged me into the star wars saga. The sound track is good, but lets be honest it has always been good. The biggest suprise for me was the map layout. I dont like the way modern FPS maps have gone, they are to complicated and difficult to apply a decent strategy to. I beleive that the game developers are trying to ensure that bad players will still get kills, by making it difficult for skillful players to dominate portions of the maps. Battlefront has beautifully simple maps designs that allows everyone to have fun but if you want to stamp your dominance on a game you have a fair chance. A fair and fun map design, well done. This game is made by Dice, so obviously it is a competent shooter. A little easier than BF4 and Hardline. The Lasers are accurate and varied enough to feel interesting. It does not have the same depth as other FPS games because you can not customise your weapon. However, this has not affected my experience as they are plenty of weapons and the card systems adds the customisation. This allows you to equip some specials, like grenades or a one shot rifle. This is not like Destiny, which gives you overpowered specials that guarantees kills. You still need to use these specials effective which adds to the tactical side of this game. It feels great when you nail a long range pulse rifle head shot.I only had one game where i experienced some lag, even then it pailed into insignificance compared to the lag built into Advanced Warefare.I had so much fun blasting my way through the rebel alliance and stopping the storm troopers in the tracks. To add to this there are many game modes incorporating various classic vehicles from the franchise. This game is £55 on xbox live, £50 if you have EA access. Amazon are offering a good deal. If you like shooters and Star Wars I am sure you will love this game.

This game looks and sounds amazing. The maps are all brilliantly designed and look so detailed and authentic – the first time you play the maps, you can’t help but marvel at how good it all looks, it’s like stepping into the movie. Yes, there are only five planets (four original + the Battle of Jakku free DLC), which gives around 15 maps of different sizes that are assigned to different game modes, and perhaps that won’t be enough for some, but for me it works fine, at least for now. I keep playing larger modes with big maps, which are enormous, beautifully realised, and huge fun to play on/above. The vehicles and blasters are all digital clones of the real props, and make the same iconic noises, and together with the score of original music the whole game has a feel that very much identifies it as Star Wars. Getting a hero pickup and choosing your preferred hero/villain to play with is a thrill; walking across the battleground as Darth Vader, throwing your lightsabre as a boomerang, deflecting weapons fire or using a force choke is strangely satisfying and wonderfully overpowered, though you can still be defeated easily if you’re not careful. As for gameplay, I don’t entirely understand the amount of criticism this game gets for not having a campaign – it is clearly marketed as being an online multiplayer game, and that should of course be something you are aware of before splashing the cash on it. Nevertheless, the matches across the different modes are all very enjoyable and, especially on the bigger modes like Supremacy or Walker Assault, the explosions and blaster fire streaking across the screen, with X-Wings and TIE fighters battling it out overhead and (and sometimes crashing down around you), gives an amazing sense of immersion into a Star Wars battle. The game modes also put a focus on teamwork and achieving objectives, and give you more to do than simply aim to climb the scoreboard. My only issue is the four pieces of upcoming paid DLC, also bundled in a Season Pass which costs the same as the game itself – if you choose to buy the pass, you’ll be essentially paying double to get content that really should just have come with the game. If you buy the 4 packs separately, you’ll no doubt end up paying even more overall. I personally don’t agree with paid DLC of any kind when you’ve already had to fork out for the game. More free content has been promised, so that’s always a plus. That’s not to say the game needs the DLC to be playable – in my eyes, it doesn’t. Maybe the game currently doesn’t have the depth to keep hardcore gamers playing it all day, but for a few hours here and then for your average gamer it works very well and is a joy to play.

I personally think this game is underscored on these review pages.Yes, that's correct...it doesn't have a single player campaign, but single player campaigns are not mandatory! But what it is is a completely immersive experience of EPIC huge multplayer battles with authentic Star Wars visuals (actually the graphics are incredible) and authentic Star Wars sounds. However It is a valid argument that the product is overpriced for what it is. But if you can afford it and if you enjoy the Star Wars universe then I could not recommend this game enough. There are only a select few maps to play on, but these maps are huge and detailed and incredibly fun to play. And thats the word that sums up this gamemore than anything.."FUN"In my opinion they have the balance just right between fun and depth; there are leveling up options available through you choice of "star cards" which act as timed gadget to help you in your mission to defeat the opposition. There are plenty of choices here, from personal shields to long range rifles to thermal detonators! Level up these individual cards reduces the cool down times of them. For each kill you make, each game you complete, each objective you succeed with you will be rewarded with points. With these points you can purchase new star cards, "Trait Cards" which give you a small set of skills that rank up in game (and reset in game when killed), modded armour and a selection of blasters and pistols. There are various game modes to try out, more so than many other multiplayer games I have played recently. Many are saying a lot of these game modes are just fillers to bulk out the product. I must disagree, I have played all the game modes a fair bit and they all have their own feel and deserve different tactical approaches to the others, they are all different enough to warrant their existence. As a huge Star Wars fan myself I think DICE has done an exceptional job of catching the essence of the Original Trilogy; the excitement of battling the Empire on the Moon of Endor whilst gigantic AT-ATs head towards their goals is exhilarating...and all of a sudden you're warned that "Bobba Fett is in your sector" only to see this jet packed bounty hunter appear from out of nowhere to reek havoc at the command of the Empire. This product loses a star in my opinion because it could do with more maps to play with.Whilst it does not have a dedicated Single Player campaign, it does have single player (and co-op) missions that are short and enjoyable whether you are playing alone or with a friend. But these are just missions with objectives, there is no narrative.

It is clear that Star Wars Battlefront has polarised opinion much like Dark Souls/Bloodborne, it appears to be the new Marmite because you either love or hate it judging by the comments.Having seen a review on IGN, website I trust and whose opinion I value, it was awarded 8/10 and being 'fully aware prior to release that there would not be any campaign mode' I have been torn over buying this game or not having seen the emerging polarised reviews here on Amazon.I am very happy that I made the choice to make up my own mind!Star Wars Battlefront is simply an amazing breathtaking foray into the well known universe and there is lots to see and do,I cannot see why other reviewers are saying there is limited content? My jaw dropped when I played 20 vs 20 Walker Assault for the first time, it is absolute bedlam on the map, the visuals are stunning, sounds effect likewise and playing it is so enjoyable.'Battle' and 'Dropzone/Capture the droid'' modes are quick paced and addictive too!I feel like the negative reviewers must be playing a different game to me! Believe me when I have been gaming since 1980's and seen my fair share of poor games and this is not one of them!I would rather have no campaign mode and avoid cliche ridden 'Call Of Duty' style romp or another Destiny and instead purely focus on the online multiplayer, there is a good variety of modes on different maps with free DLC due out next week and I have willingly signed up for the season pass however I appreciate that many reviewers would like more content on day one.So I have paid £80 in total for the game including season pass which I will be playing for the next 12 months, which means it costs just over £1.50 per week which is a bargain considering the number of hours I will sink into this game and cheaper than a night out!I could not stand Destiny, this is not anything like Destiny. In addition to online multiplayer there are numerous missions which are challenging and fun to play with lots of replay value in order to unlock achievements to obtain new gear etc.XP is earned which unlocks perks (Star Wars cards, weapons and customisation of character) which will keep you coming back but this is no grind fest! Why not 5 stars? Slightly annoying at times when on Endor character gets stuck on terrain.Feel the force and decide for yourself.P.S. I have now spent 51hrs online in total and still enjoying EVERY moment!

This is going to be unpopular given the current “reviews” but I don’t care, this game is excellent and in no way deserves to have an average rating of 2.5.First of all no it doesn’t have a single player campaign and guess what I’m alright with that because you know why? I can read and understood from the beginning that this was a multiplayer focused game, dur!Secondly; yes there is dlc, shock horror! It’s 2015 and whether you like it or not dlc is a thing and happens with most games, not saying its right or wrong (that’s a whole other conversation) but its an option if you happen to like the game its not like Darth Vader is using a Jedi mind trick on you and forcing you to buy it so calm down.As for the game itself, the graphics and audio are frankly stunning and this is what next gen should look like.As for content there are 4 planets offering multiple locations tailored for the different game modes. So for example from what I’ve played so far tight corridor fighting in ice caves on Hoth during team deathmatch but then huge outdoors areas with dogfights and vehicles on Hoth whilst playing walker assault, and that is replicated across the 4 planets, so despite what some reviews say there are lots of locations to fight in, don’t be misled thinking 4 planets = 4 locations as there are lots more. There are 9 different game modes to choose from, from straight forward team deathmatch and capture the flag to the more epic scale 20v20 player Supremacy and Walker Assault modes. Also giving a shout out to heroes v villains which is so much fun playing as Luke, Han, Vader etc. There is single player content in the game by the way of survival missions which you can do co-op as well and whilst they don’t constitute a campaign they seem good fun and I’ve enjoyed the few I’ve played with my brother so far.All in all if you go into this game with the expectation of a superb recreation of star wars that is lots of fun to play (which is what its all about after all) and don’t mind not having a huge single player campaign (go to Fallout 4 if you want that) then I’m sure you will enjoy this game immensely.May the force be with you.

¬¬¬I recently rebought this game having lost my original copy. I stopped playing it when Battlefront 2 (BF2) came out as I, like many others, was expecting BF2 to be similar to the 2015 (BF) edition but far better. I was so excited, how could they possibly improve on such a great game? Including a Campaign mode of course but what else?So I pre-ordered BF2 and it arrived and, following a very very long update, I was able to play it. After an hour or two of playing I came away from my Xbox feeling flat. I wanted to like it so bad but it just wasn’t as fun as its predecessor. I also didn’t think much of the campaign mode. It was too easy and for whatever reason I didn’t feel invested in any of the character’s storylines.Wouldn’t it be better to just follow the story of Luke or Han? I mean wouldn’t that be an amazing game, like the movie tie-ins they used to make but with a serious budget. I’d much rather play out Luke or Darth Vader’s actual character arc than Iden’s, which I just found boring and uninteresting. She can’t possibly have any kind of profound influence on the top level Star Wars storyline as she doesn’t feature in any of the movies. I also found myself spending all my time chasing battle points to get a hero, which is stressful and saps the enjoyment out of the game. In BF you are able to just enjoy the battle and play for the objectives. And if you so happen to stumble across a hero pickup then great! The problems with both games have been well documented, so I won’t regurgitate tried and tested opinions. But returning to BF has been a revelation. It’s so much fun online and I was thrilled to find that there are still plenty of players still playing this game. I dove straight into a game of Cargo and was chuffed to bits to be lining up alongside 5 other Stormtroopers to take on the 6 rebel soldiers. So for those of you who were wondering, Star Wars Battlefront (2015) is still very much alive and kicking. Come back to it, it’s still the best online Star Wars experience out there…

Aside from the graphics I was unimpressed by the Beta, but being an old school Star Wars nerd in the grip of Star Wars fever I bought it anyway...and I'm glad I did. This game has been given an unfair kicking. It is more than just perfect graphics & sound. Yes the majority of the game is online multiplayer and requires you to either be skilful enough to compete, or at least be patient enough to play the game and get good at it (like the good old days). However, there are some single player elements that help you get good at the online multiplayer parts. These are split into Training Missions, Battles and Survival Missions. First of all, the training missions are good fun, especially the Speeder Bikes! They are quite easy but offer some challenge in getting all 3 stars for beating time limits and other targets. Best of all you learn how to properly pilot and control the X-wing, Snow Sppeder, AT-ST, etc. In the Beta I'd get into one of these vehicles and last about 20 seconds. However, now I know what they're capable of and I've had my training, I can take out an A-Wing with the AT-ST and down an AT-AT with the snow speeder. Therefore, when I get these vehicles during online play I am able to use them effectively and have a lot more fun. The single player Battles are kind of like the online ones but against AI enemies. The advantage here is being able to practice your aiming skills, learn the pros and cons of each and every blaster etc (yes it DOES make a difference) and you can play as the Heroes for the whole battle if you choose! Luke, Han, Leia, Vader, Emperor & Boba Fett. Practice in single player does make a difference when jumping into the online modes, of which there are several. Droid run, Walker Assault, etc.Don't be put off by the beta or overly harsh review wanting it to be a single player campaign game (that game is sure to follow), or moaning that its not exactly the same as Battlefield or Call of Duty. There is a LOT of fun to be had here for the Star Wars loving gamer.

This game is by no means perfect there's a lot wrong with it, however I'm writing this review based on how much fun I'm having which is a hell of a lot.I didn't get this game at first because I heard so many bad things about it, I received it as a Christmas present so I have it a go, and I'm glad I did, it's the first time I've had so much fun on multiplayer in a game since halo reach in 2010. The game is just fun to play, yes it might be 'casual' as everyone seems to label it but does that matter? I play games for fun not to get stressed out over.As it stands the game has 10 game modes and about 16 maps that's not too shabby, everyone seems to moan about the lack of content but it has more than the extremely disappointing halo 5,which has literally 6 or 7 online game modes. All the game modes in this game are pretty fun too, highlight are walker assault, fighter squadron and heroes vs villains for me, but I do play all of them and they are fun.The game has some balancing issues but nothing too horrendous or game breaking and I'm sure they'll be patched, like the DL44 pistil being too powerful and tie fighters being much weaker than X wings which usually means revels will win fighter squadron. For people on the fence about this game because they've heard it's bad just go for it and decide for yourself, it's currently the most fun I'm having on a game I've spent around 30 hours in it since Christmas. Lots of the people saying its bad probably haven't played the game and are just listening to others and deciding that's their opinion too. Give it a go it's worth it.PS I agree the season pass is overpriced and a bit of a joke that's the onlyDownfall, however if you have lots of fun with the game and play it often it's probably worth buying, I might do at some point when I know what's in it, if you don't enjoy it loads or just play it occasionally no ones making you get it, just play the vanilla game.Hope this review helps some of you!

I have already written a review of this game, but I felt I needed to write another one. I am a lifelong fan who was very skeptical about the game and movie. I was right about the movie, which had no feel of being Star Wars, was a complete rehash of a New Hope and it's ability to destroy everything we know about the force was astounding. Yet people have rated it highly while it is incredibly poor, and the game is not short of life changing.Battlefront 2 is my favourite game ever and in preparation for this game I took out my Xbox Crystal and played it for two weeks in the run up. It's a game I play regularly and I can honestly say I found it beginning to become tiresome at some points. The new version does not have a campaign and it is understandable why people would prefer the originals. But to write off this game is madness. The graphics are absolutely incredible and the amount of detail they have put in amazes me every time I turn on my Xbox. The ability to choose weapons makes you find a truly comfortable way to play for every individual, as well as making apperance customizable. Similarly the game modes are supremely better than in Battlefront 2, as I LOVE every single one. In BF2 I only played conquest as the other modes were boring. Even hunt. Moreover the sound effects have stayed so true to the movies and I feel like I'm actually in the Star Wars universe. The music is good as well. Being a huge fan of the prequels the only thing I can criticize about this game is the fact there is no music from the prequels or Clones. However a clone expansion pack is rumoured and I would happily pay £100 for it simply to see what planet's like Corusant and Felucia would be like. For those that claim you die in "5 seconds" there is only one solution. You are crap at the game sodon't rate a truly superb game on your inability to play it.
