We've had great fun with these themed base plates. Mixes well with the 'little builder4+' sets eg police and fire station, and my Lego town. Finally, somewhere to put the traffic signs and traffic lights from the city 'mini figure' set. And the post van now gets driven down the road, as opposed to being lost in the carpet. I do find the price of base plates quite steep - but they are useful for building a mini-town on and role play. You get 2 squares (base plates)per pack. The road base plates are the same size as the green and blue studded plates - purchased as separate items - about 30 studs wide. There are no studs on the actual road bit - (presumably the mail would get bumped around to much on studs),although there are some studs around the edges and on the pavement to stand miniguys. If you want 'just' a big grey plate full of studs to build on - Id go for the extra large grey plate (different grey and scale to these road pieces). I can see the usefulness of these, in helping kids to recognise the layout of a street and talking about what signs mean and how to cross roads, in different situations. Amazon are doing a good deal on these - selling below the rrp £10.49.

Can't believe there are reviews on this product......OK, here's mine thenSo...Em... Yeah.. When I first open it, yep ! It's a cross road, match the cover, that's a good start....And is it grey and white? Wait, let me just check....... It's grey and white , excellent!Next, I'm going to take a square & spirit level just to make sure all edges are at 90 degrees and the side is straight... Spot on(>.o)So far so goodThe (sort of ) instruction book was quite useful, without it , I wouldn't know what to with it.Spaces for City product fit very well , unless you put that fire boat on itYou can try it for a runway ,but it just looks really oddAnd the studs, if you don't plan to use too much road then there's more than enough thereI mean...Which Lego city doesn't have a lot of object / building at the side of the road anywayHum... But good quality , good product thats all that matters

Bought 4 sets of these towards making a small Lego town. I was previously in a dilemma as to whether to buy some more vintage tiles, but eventually decided on these as it is a struggle to fit the newer lego city vehicles on the older type tiles from the late '70's( I still have my own ), without catching on buildings or knocking over pedestrians! . We will have to compromise on the building space, so I guess it means we will have to be more creative with the layout, and what really counts is playability for my children. Not a bad price for these tiles, currently £7.50, and easily obtainable on amazon. The colour is a good match with the dark grey tiles that come with the police/fire sets.I don't have a problem with the shade as it is a realistic tarmac colour. This review also appears on Lego 7281: Curve and T-Junction.

It has to be said these are a great addition to any LEGO collection but blimey, they aren't cheap. Each plate measure 25 x 25 cm so constructing a simple square circuit with 1 metre outer edges takes 12 plates. Now if your paying RRP that's going to cost about £60! It makes just about any other lego set look a bargain. Just a few things. Personally I'd prefer the T junction to not have a pedestrian crossing on it. The crossroads from set 7280 has one on each side, so if they are pieced together it looks a bit weird. a simple Stop and Give Way marking would have been better. The new wider road may give less studs than previous incarnations, however the roads can now just about accommodate a Duplo vehicle. In fact they have so many other uses and any 1:40 scale die cast car looks superb on these roads.

Straight road plates. We ordered a few of them and combine with the curved road parts. The street layout is then used either by our daughter for her Friends city’s, or by our son to combine with his Lego City set up, train tracks or Ninjago. So its actually quite versatile.Personally I would have preferred two straight roads in each set rather than the crossing. Hence the 4 star rating. As always with Lego the quality is great and the plates are very durable.

Although a good number of boards are needed to create a decent layout for a town, they give a great chance for hours of fun and can also be used as small base boards or just a layout for ordinary cars. It's a pity that curves and straights are not sold separately as packs of same type boards. You generally need to buy in multiples of 2 packs. Just regretting the fact that I didn't hold on to my son's collection now my grandson is into Lego!

The road pieces add so much extra play value to any child who collects and builds the Lego city playsets. My five year old grandson soon had police cars zooming round the road and fire engines off rescuing cats from trees! They also help to teach the basics of road safety whilst the child is having fun. Expensive but worth it. My only complaint is the packaging - I bought four sets to make a circuit and it looked rather a pathetic present!

These are the usual high Lego standard that we expect.Reasonable price but like many other reviews it is a shame you cannot buy the straight road on its own. I would buy 2 or 3 of these if they did so a street scene or high street could be built.Regardless my 8 year old loves them!!

It's a great item, however for the price I wish Lego would add more colours or features such as drains. Also the roads on these new baseplates are slightly larger than the old ones so you don't get as many studs for building as you used to. However still the great same Lego quality.

Although these are very expensive, the do the job well. I am hoping that the sturdy flexible make up of these will mean that they will last for many years and two grandsons worh of play and therefore be worth the money. I believe they will be. Delivery prompt and well packed.

Great item from Lego, well packaged and just what it is. I bought 4 packs so it made a circuit with two cut throughs on the zebra crossings. My grandson has had hours of fun building cars and racing them round. Also space around the edge to put small buildings or pit stops.

My 6yr old loves this and now has a road going through his Lego city. My only comment is that you don't get much for your money as you really need more than one section of it. Overall though it looks good if your child loves to build and add to Lego city.

Although a good number of boards are needed to create a decent layout for a town, they can be used to create own design buildings. I've never known a board to be damaged in normal use. Amazon's sources were well priced comparing to our local toyshop too.

Actual product is great - as it's lego. But only giving it 4 stars because do they have to be so expensive!? They must cost a fraction to make. I get that Lego is a company and not a charity but I think the price of Lego roads is a little ridiculous.
