After the mixed bag of 2005s Fire Tender, this 2007 set is a huge improvement. Matching that earlier set's play value with a sleeker design and greater detailing. It's a quick build with a good amount of bricks for your money and some interesting twists on some familiar build patterns. In particular, the seating eschews the traditional Lego seat in favour of a simple flat panel and recess so the figure can sit in without the helmet causing problems. There's also a small innovation on the storage points for the radio and torch. These are nice little changes that show some real thought was put into the model. Things are brightened up with a light bar and detailed grill, complete with additional blue lights.Opening doors are forsaken for an easily removed roof to get the minifigure in and out. I'm also particularly fond of the tailgate which is a nice piece of engineering. Decals as usual add the finishing touches. Only the wide axles look a little odd, causing the wheels to protrude quite substantially. The trailer is also packed full of detail and play features. This is a smart reworking of the clunky trailer seen on the larger Fire Tender. It contains a hose reel, tailgate and storage boxes, plus attachments for the breathing apparatus and fire extinguisher. A nice tampographed tile with some dials and switches printed on it add the finishing touches. The final piece de resistance is the cutting equipment/ floodlight array, which can be stored on the back of the truck, or on the trailer (although it is more secure on the former). It's a great little addition and adds extra value to the set.For it's a size and play value, this is an excellent purchase. That it crams in features normally associated with the larger fire engines, but at a smaller price point but without compromising the design means it's an essential buy from the City range. Top marks!

Bought this recently from LegoLand Windsor, my son picked this item out hiself as he loves the idea of the 'fire boat' and the 'crane' on the fire truck. With the set you get - The Fire Truck, Fire Boat, 3 Mini Figures, a Quad 'Fire' Bike and other mini things, Life Vestsx2, Binoculars, Fire Helmetsx2, Bike Helmetx1, Mini Yellow Fire Extinguisher. A good little set all in all. Overall the concept/idea for the item is really good, design ok.My son thinks it's really good and loves playing with it along with all his other lego set's, he particularly enjoys the little fire boat with the moveable water hose on the front and the crane that hooks on to the boat to remove it from the truck in to the water. The crane does come detached if you don't hold it whilst you are moving it, if you hold it down though it's fine and stays put, but other than that the item itself especially the boat and the truck are really sturdy to play with, the minifigures are really simple to get in to the boat on to their seats and the fairly easy to get in to the cab of the truck. The only thing to mention is that the wheels are fixed on the truck, i.e you can go backwards and fowards really easily but it doesn't turn as it's all one unit - with the other Trucks and Lorries we have in Lego they have a seperate Cab and Trailer so will turn but this one won't turn as earily as those - just thought i'd mention as my son asked me why it wouldn't turn round corners ;o)A good set - would go well with other Fire sets from the Lego City range.

For a starter I would like to say that I got this set a while back and now I'm not into LEGO city .But I willlet this affect the overall rating of the set.It has got a nice bit of playability with the boat - it can actually float!(at the time I got this it was very exciting)the flap on the side is nice but it has one fatal flaw:if you open it when a minifigur is in front of it the it will knock your poor firefighter(or civilian though the set does not come with any)over! And for the age at which this set is aimed at (3-4 year olds)that could be quite upsetting(to help grown ups know what this feels like ,think of your favourite charactar in CSI being killed off !horrible is'nt it?)Anyway theladder on the top can be rotated and elevated to get to even the highest window in the aflame house that a lego creator should have made by now.To sum up I think this set is really nice but here, ladies and gentlemen, are the pros and...CONS!.PRO cool hatches.CON hatch can knock a figure over.PRO two awesome minifigures.CON trailer will crashe into building with those sharp turns.PRO boat which is water tight for sailing on real water and NOT the plastic oneWell that seem to be everything .I hope you find this review useful and goodbye!

This was given to my son as a 5th birthday present. It is part of the popular Lego City theme. As a five-year-old, my son's ability and patience to build is not that of an older child. However, he likes sorting pieces and finding pieces to help, but ultimately it is me and his dad who do the construction. The set comes in four distinct parts, smallest to largest they are: the fire rescue vehicle, the fire engine, the fire station, the living/admin quarters. There's also lots of great little accessories included, like a safety net, shovel and broom, a cat with a tree to get stuck up, and lots of ladders. Each part can be built individually, their pieces already separately bagged and clearly numbered in the box. This is a great feature, as not only do you not have to build it all in one go, but if you have an excitable child wanting to play, you can build the smaller parts first so they have something to play with while you get on with the larger parts. The set has provided hours of role playing fun for my son and daughter, together. They talk about fire safety as part of their play, which can only be a good thing. I am very impressed with the set and will certainly add other large Lego City playsets in the future.

My son received this as a birthday present so unsure if it came from Amazon or not.The kit consists of 2 vehicles and 3 buildings that clip together. This kit is excellent (as all lego is) as it is part of the Lego City range which is always better value fro money. The vehicles are well designed and robust enough for creative play after they have been built. The buildings are a little more fiddly and a tad more fragile but can still be played with. My boy has lots of Lego city kits and lots of mini figures so this integrates well with a lot of the other lego too.My son is 6 and built this by himself with a little supervision and assistance from me so it took most of a day to build it all and then he played with it for hours afterwards. It's still built to day and is still played with often. It's a little pricey at full price but, in my opinion, still good value for money - if you find it for less than the RRP, then it's a bargain. It's a must for a Lego fan along with the police set (which my son has his eye on for Christmas this year).

Purchased this as a birthday present for our 3 yr old who loves it (phew!). He managed to help to build, surprisingly, quite a bit as the model is fairly simple - needed Dad's help with larger fire engine turn table and 'up and over' doors on fire station. Some nice touches of detail and humour from Lego: flat screen tv screen shows city hall burning down; coffee machine for boss's desk on ground floor just two examples.Couple of very minor negatives... Engine bays, especially for turn table engine, could have been longer as engine sticks out the back by a couple of cms. 'Up and over' bay doors are the fragile bits - how long they will last the attentions of 3 and 6 yr old remains to beseen...

Ordered for a friends child so am assuming she would have let me know if there were any problems with this item. Usual high standard from Lego products even if they always seem a bit small for their price. Having bought lots (and lots and lots and lots and lots) of Lego over the past 7-8 years i am sure this is as good as any other of the products they supply. The "City" collection always goes down well with the younger boys aged 5-9 box states up to 12 but i think is a bit young for this age and my 12 year old son would expect something more complex to build. I am sure the 6 year old this was bought for is having great fun building up his city collection :) Overall excellent buy.

my 3 year old recently received this as a present. Obviously he is younger than the recommended age so Mum has to build it for him (never a problem as she loves lego!), but he is able to play with it on his own without problems. The build seems very durable for someone his age and we particularly like the clip on tow bar to join the trailer to the vehicle which stays togetehr much better than a hook and eye type. Other great features are all the accessories, the two fold down tailgates and the metal decals in the back of the vehicle. The other reviewer is right, the wheel base does look slightly odd, but only to me, not my son! Incredible value and a great set.

Overall another great Lego product. With instructions clear enough for my 6 year old son to build it with almost no help. Only critisism is that when you try to float it in the bath, (well he is only 6) it's top heavy and immediately capsizes. The American version comes with a neat little battery operated motor pack which clips onto the bottom of the boat keeping it the right way up and powering it in water. Why don't we get this part over here? So overall a great model, but try to source the one with the motor.

I bought this toy for my 5 years old daughter. With a bit of help, she managed to put the toy together. It gave her lots of pleasure and satisfaction. In that respect, this toy is brilliant: it's a nice project for children to do and it gives them satisfaction and pride for doing it and helps them develop dexterity, observational and analytical skills...However, I found the toy, once built, was not very sturdy. Whilst playing, the pieces come off. My daughter has to do rebuild it continuously, not great.

My 5 year old grandson and i have had a lot of shared enjoyment with the lego fire station. As well as following the instructions with me or his dad, he has also been able to use the contents to invent his own projects such as making little cars, houses etc. This shows one of the strong points of Lego ; it's versatility and flexibility. It is a fairly expensive toy but you do get your money's worth with the different uses you can put it to. Excellent.

I bought this fire truck a few months ago for my five year old son based on the wonderful reviews it has already received on Amazon. We bought it to go with the bigger Lego City Fire Station set he got for Christmas, and its been a very handy addition. He's enjoyed building the Fire truck and trailer, and played with it too. He likes the finer details of the tools it comes with. From a mom's point of view, it seems to have been a happy success.

This LEGO kit was a birthday gift for a nine-year old grandson. He has received and built many such LEGO kits in recent years and finds them challenging and enjoyable to build. Grown-ups find them to be rather expensive but very good quality. He rates this one as very 'cool'. Good for games on the floor but don't yet know whether its claim to float in the bath is valid.

Bought as a gift for a 6 year old who is Lego mad. He appeared to cope fairly well with the small parts and simple instructions though some parts needed an older person to help interpret what was needed. The colour of the parts can differ slightly to that shown in the instructions which can be a little confusing but easily overcome.Good buy

Just bought and made this for my 4 year old boy. He is obsessed with emergency and rescue vehicles. Took about 20 minutes to make. My boy loves the the details, the little compartment that open and close. All the little Lego tools and the clip on bit to carry them arrived the next day for free, I am very impressed and happy.
