Growing up in the late 1970's, early 1980's, my imagination was captured every time I glimpsed the old school LEGO space mini figures and sets. Regrettably, I was limited to seeing them on the shelf, or fleeting moments at friend's houses, as our family was unable to afford LEGO then. This set does a wonderful job of capturing some of that old ascetic, updated for a modern age.Pros: The space modules. I love, love, love the way that the modules can be combined. I think there's a possibility that a lot of the space sets can be interconnected. My son and I had a blast pretending to dock the mini shuttle with the space station.I also adore the fact that most of this set uses old school parts. As I was building it, I knew right away that my kids and I can sit down and expand on this set with parts we already have. While I'm not sure how this can be displayed, I think it's awesome that it can double for a Lunar or Mars base, and will go great with those sets. I also want to address how awesome the figures are. The spacesuits look really cool, and the mini robot helper was a great touch! We even got an extra robot head, so we'll be building an extra little dude or dudette to assist the astronauts. I'm looking forward picking up some more Space sets soon!

My space mad granddaughter was thrilled to bits with this set. It is called the Moonbase and, according to the cover, it was “inspired by NASA’S lunar gateway” whatever that is. It is difficult to find anything new to say about Lego as it is what it is - just about the best toy ever invented and likely to continue to do so.The sets are increasingly more sophisticated and complicated but I have to say that when I look at the instruction booklet my heart sinks but my grandchildren seem to be ok with it and my daughter, now pushing 40, will happily spend hours putting them together with her children. This has four packs of pieces and the usual excellent instruction book.Parental help was needed at one stage when construction got a little bit complicated but, on the whole, my six year old was able to finish this on her own. What is so good about Lego is the level of concentration that is needed in construction and how involved children can get in creating the model. When it was finished she was thrilled and delighted with it. So was I.This is a correction to my original review which mistakenly thought the figures illustrated on the front of the box were not in the set. They were. Just difficult to spot in all the pieces. A great set

Lego keep coming up with new ideas and sometimes they really hit the mark. This set is very playable and is very stimulating for children of all ages - a winner. Our grandson thought it must be Christmas or something as his face was a picture when we handed over the box. Like most youngsters he is into space things and once he realised what he had, his excitement could not be reined in. Indeed, in his words, "Wow, wow, WOW".Although not difficult to build he did get a bit frustrated at times, but in the end he was/is one happy boy.So that's how it is with most Lego isn't it? It certainly is with this set. A huge well done to the ideas person who came up with this set. Although it has to be put together,it is simple so long as you follow all the instructions (as with all Lego) and the inclusion of the "Light Brick" (with batteries included - well done Lego) this City Mars Exploration set is a thing of beauty that will be loved and played with by many.OH yes, I forgot to say. This is a good sized set that even smaller hands will find OK to handle.

Please see uploaded photos. This Lego space station and shuttle set is great. It's quite a simple and quick build for Lego. Following the numbered packets and separate booklets for the shuttle and each pod is very well thought out as always. There are a few stickers but nothing crazily awkward to apply. The one light up brick (battery included, just pull out the tab to use) and pod is very simple but effective at lighting the lunar rock samples type research pod. The way each pod assembles and slots on the central section with an airlock pod that the shuttle fits works really well. Great attention to detail. Our seven and four year olds enjoyed helping loads. Highly recommended!

My eight year old grandson's eyes lit up with delight when he saw this. He promptly set to work, and about fours later had completed all parts on his own. He declared it very good (and later when relating it to his mother it was "awesome"). He certainly set to the task in a very methodical way, following the instructions with ease. He added afterwards that this was the first big Lego project he had completed without help.To add to my grandson's verdict i would say it is good value even though not cheap, and watching him build it, making and overcoming one or two mistakes, and sticking with it to the end shows that there must be a good educational value here too.

Everybody loves Lego right? The iconic brand doesn't appear to be running out ofenergy and ideas anytime soon. Long may this great Danish export live and prosper! This Mars Expedition Series Space Station has three removable modules, each equippedwith the necessary tools and creature comforts (pizza oven included) to make life amongstthe stars more comfortable. Three minifigures and a robot make plenty of room for excitingimaginative play. A detachable space shuttle facilitates a close connection with Mother Earth.Such a great toy for kids (and grown ups!). Lego has stood the many tests of time - and space!Super!

With the 50th anniversary of the Moon Landing having just passed, this Lego set is very timely, and my six-year-old nephew enjoyed putting it together. It contains 412 bricks, and includes four figures - two astronauts and two crewmembers - plus a robot. The space station includes: kitchen module, living module, lab module with light brick, central airlock compartment, detachable satellite and detachable shuttle with opening cockpit and storage space. As with all Lego sets, the details are exceptional, the instructions are high quality, and the toy itself is fun as well as educational. Very highly recommended.

I've been a space fan almost as long as I've been a LEGO fan. So I've been waiting a long time for a LEGO space station, and this set doesn't disappoint. It's packed with fun goodies and lots of playability. The modules are easy to rearrange but form sturdy connections for safe "swooshing".The price seems a little high, which may be because of the several large pieces it contains. And if it feels a little small, it's only because it has so much potential for expansion, just like the real space station. I'm thinking about getting a second set!

This Lego space station (inspired by Nasa's Lunar Gateway apparently, not the ISS) is such a great idea. It consists of 4 modules that bolt together, astronauts, solar panels and a small spacecraft. It's a fairly simple set to put together and top quality as you always from Lego. It's pretty simple to put together, but claims it's 6+ whereas I feel it's more 8+. My only quibble is that for £45 it's a little bit on the basic side. £35 feels like it would be a more reasonable price. But otherwise a great set. The kids love it.

The kids love a bit of space but when they are in the shop they always go for Star Wars or whatever Lego is on TV. I got this as a surprise and they loved it and it was played with loads. It is an intricate set with lots of details and very realistic. Its a decent sized box and although the eventual model is not huge it is nice to have as a display model.I appreciate what Lego have done here. It was a fun build for the kids and is all about science rather than fantasy and that's a good thing.

A welcome distraction after the first two weeks of UK lockdown. Ordered easily, however it wasn’t clear on the website what the opening times for Sainsbury based Argos stores. May now be amended but if not, please make it clearer.Easy for my son to build and he enjoyed doing so. Much larger then I was expecting with loads of detail. Only gripe is the price; I’m aware the retail price is somewhat dictated to Sainsbury’s by Lego themselves but maybe £5 cheaper would have been better.

A great Lego option. Nice to have something different to the usual Harry Potter/Star Ward etc. Great to see “real world” imagination at work. My 7 year old completed without help over a couple of days at Christmas and loved it. Especially the detachable mini shuttle. Great Lego toy.As a side note why is lego rated by easy to assemble? If we wanted easy we’d stick with Duplo! Consider the rating how much fun it was to build rather than ease!

Kid liked the different modules in this set and thought it was really cool how they all joined together to make one station. They particularly liked the satellite and the little space ship and found it easy to build on their own. I got it for £36 but I have seen it for sale at £50+ and I definitely do not think its worth that. Although it has good play value it is too easy a build to make it worth that amount of money.

This Lego City kit is a play set for children 6 and up. It consists of a small shuttle-style space ship, a small space station that can be put together in several different ways, and a number of lego figures. As always with Lego it’s a well thought out toy and will be a welcome addition to somebody’s collection. As suggested by the age guidance it is straightforward to put together. Not for older children.

The images showed parts were missing (even though the description did not mention this) but I combined the station with another so i could use my own parts. however, i was not aware of a single missing brick that prroved vital to stability of the model and had to order an extra of bricklink. in future i would appreciate being made more clearly aware of something like that but otherwise it was fine.
