These extra-large Lego sets are great fun for all the family to do together. The Police Station isn't just the three-level station, but an attached jail and garage, It's not a project that a child under 10 or so will be able to tackle on their own.The jail has quite a complex and fiddly lever mechanism that drops the whole of one wall away. This takes a little time, patience and a bit of adult guidance to work out and put together.The 'story' of the set is that the crook minifigures are using a cherry-picker vehicle to spring their pal from jail, blowing away the side of the cell to do so, The staff of the adjacent police station are out to stop them and have the resources of a helicopter which takes off from the helipad on the police station roof.The police also have a car,motorbike and even a police dog to help with the chase.As with all Lego sets these days the bricks are sensibly divided in to numbered bags for each separate part of the construction - make sure you supervise the unpacking as the bricks from one part can't always easily be distinguished from another.The first numbered bags are the vehicles - if helping a child at the younger end of the age spectrum it's a good idea to construct one of these first. The cherry-picker has a turntable that swivels and is great fun. This may stop younger ones becoming bored with the main part of the construction, which takes some time to put together.There are three levels to the police station, plus the helipad on top, two levels to the garage, plus the satellite dish, and two levels to the jail.Unlike some sets there aren't a huge number of fiddly decals to apply, although we did spend some time looking for a plastic welcome mat flat brick before realising it was a paper sticker,The construction instructions are generally very clear, as with most large Lego sets made in recent years, they are in a series of numbered booklets, 6 in all. This is useful as you don't spend ages flipping through a large set of instructions to find the relevant pages for the pieces you are working on.There is quite a bit of play value in this set, as well as the vehicles and jail with exploding wall, figures can park up vehicles in the garage, and climb in to the communications centre on the police station garage roof.The helicopter takes off and lands from the helipad on the police station roof, and there is a bit of cheeky fun with the fact that the escaping crook is on the toilet when he is sprung from jail.Be prepared to give assistance with this, unless it's given to an older child of 12 or so, as some of the parts are very small - particularly the 'exploding' wall mechanism and may prove too fiddly for very small fingers.

Any Lego set is a great toy for small and big kids (adults) and provides hours of fun building and playing. There are various different Police sets out there and I believe this to be an updated version of the Police Station and has a lot of modern characteristics and features.It's worth noting that this set comes in a rather large box, bigger than I was expecting and the overall fully constructed set is of a reasonable size too. You'll need somewhere with a bit of space when you come to build the thing and then somewhere to store it when not in use. It took a couple of hours to fully build the Police Station and I got a bit lost part way through the instructions but managed to find my way in the end and it looked exactly as it did on the box.It comes complete with 4 vehicles,a police car, police motorbike, police helicopter and an escape truck. There are also 8 included figures, 4 police officers, 3 crooks and a police dog. The whole Police Station has lots of little areas of interest, I was particularly fascinated with the roller shutter door where the police car is kept. The attention to detail is very good too, with computer screens, water coolers, beds for the prisoners and so on. The jail is designed to break away so that the crooks can escape which is a great idea, a tad fiddly to build mind you but worth it when you see it in operation.Overall a nice set and has lots of nice touches that add to the realism, several included vehicles and figures to make it a worthwhile play set. The RRP of £85 almost gave me a heart attack though, the last time I bought a Lego set this size was an airport back in the 1980's and it set me back about £30. It just goes to show how much prices have shot up over the years.

This is a very cool toy which I assembled 'with' my 5 yr old to complement his previous Lego City Police Station from Christmas before last (2015). There are so many bags to this but you get to create vehicles, Lego characters and some cool buildings which you can use to create mini scenes and photograph for prosperity :oI'd say between coffees, sleep and the rest of my life, this took 2-3 days but could be ploughed through in an afternoon with enough patience for most adults and older kids.It's expensive but not as expensive as off the high-street. You do get a lot of Lego for your money and they have gone to considerable time and effort to design this. Lego is quality and through cynical marketing of updates to existing sets,it keeps the kids interested and parents out of pocket! I would say it's better and more interactive than playing video games - which ultimately, it is - but the Lego games for tablets and consoles are awesome too.In any case, my son loves this. I think they should provide one of the large plastic bases for this (which we have anyway) as the different buildings are more easily transported this way but you could use a sheet of plywood or something.

I remember building a Lego City Police Station set very similar to this about 5 years ago when my son was obsessed with Lego, this must be an updated version. I'd really missed building Lego with my son, but now that my nephew is old enough, I get the pleasure once again.At 9 years old, this set is way too fiddly for him to have constructed on his own, but really, the fact that families can get together to assemble these sets together is a good thing not a negative.As with all Lego sets of this size, the pieces are separately bagged with an instruction leaflet/booklet for each bag which greatly reduces the risk of confusion and the illustrated step by step instructions are clear and simple tofollow.It took us a good 3 hours or so to put this together but there was a lot of playing along the way. We found the mechanism for blowing up the upper wall of the jail a bit tricky, but otherwise no problems, and there's so much play detail in this set, such as the helicopter, the cherry picker truck, police car, police bike, the garage for the police car and all the details within the station itself, this is one of those sets that will be out most weekends!!

We had a really enjoyable weekend constructing this. The "we" being my self and my 14 yr old son who thought he was too old for Lego. You are NEVER too old for Lego and this is a lovely set.We also have a previous Police Station set and this is the new version for 2017. As the old set has long since been broken up I cannot tell you what is different or if there is ANY difference. I recall the building and the police car in the previous set plus various police Lego figures and robbers. My son who was Lego mad says the robbers truck is a new addition though.The set includes a jail area which is fiddly in places...younger children will need adult input to construct this.My 14 yr old struggled but managed it.All in all there were several vehicles including police car, robbers truck, helicopter and a police bike. This set seems bigger than the one my son had previously as I don't recall the helipad.Having been built it's still in one piece here but may well end up being deconstructed over time to build spaceships etc...that's he beauty of Lego. The only limit is imagination.

this was a lot larger than i thought it would be so i suggest finding a place where you can keep it before jumping into building it.the build itself was pretty easy for a 6 year old with only help at a few of the fiddly bits needed. the instructions very clear but compared to similar lego builds i have done with my child, could be better. areas such as the garage and police cells were a little confusing.once built, very solid and the features such as the garage door and the safe work really well.lego remains overpriced, but i suppose you know this when you click this buy button.a generic complaint of all lego these days, including this set, it does seem you can really only build the design and nothing else i.e.the pieces are engineered to only make a specific structure and limits the creative flexibility compared to lego of years past.other than the price and creative limitations, it's solid, well packaged and a really good experience for your child.

I love this set, and so does my 4 year old son. My son got it last Christmas and we spent a few minutes everyday for the next few weeks to build it. As it comes with lots of small bags, we were able to build it a little by little. And the great thing is, you don't need to build the whole thing before your child starts to play with it.It is a really playable set, and my son has lots of fun chasing the robbers, throwing them in jail, and then letting the robbers escape again. An endless loop that keeps him entertained for hours!Also, it comes with loads of big bricks! I look forward to the day when I will be allowed to rebuild it into a different building!!

This is a great build with lots of fun little features, such as the mug shot area, coffee machine, tension-loaded breakaway wall, hidden compartment in the bed, etc.I'm currently building it with my 4y/o and she seems to be really enjoying both building and playing with this set (recommendation is 6, but she seems fine with it in small doses so her concentration doesn't wander, only the odd piece I have to help her with). I'm really enjoying it, too.Visually it all looks great too, the buildings look modern and the car looks very sporty, and there's quite a bit to it, so unless they're accomplished builders it should keep them busy for a while.

Bought as a birthday gift for my grandson (age 6). He absolutely loves it - we spent 2 days building, and he plays with it endlessly every opportunity he gets. It even distracted him from the PS4 (he never even asked for it!).Some components are quite complex, and you do need to follow the instructions quite carefully - at 6, my grandson definitely needed to build with help. But we saw it as a fun way to learn about attention to detail and persevering if we made a mistake.I was pleasantly surprised by just how much Lego was in the box - great value, especially when you think how many hours it’s already entertained us both!

My 10 year old has spent the last couple of days dipping in and out of this and just finished ( saved us from a rainy Sunday!). She has loved making it and says it's better than the fire station as more moving parts like mechanism to push the car out of the garage and dynamite to "blow up" the wall. It comes with plenty of people and a dog. 4 separate vehicles that she could sit down and do when she didn't have much time. All splits into nice chunks of building so she can do an hour then leave it at a nice break point. Usual Lego quality we have come to expect. She has been playing with the finished product and loves it.

This was a Christmas present for my 5 year old son. We took 4 days to build it and loved every minute of it. I especially liked the jail break wall that's one of the final pieces.I had the Lego advent calendar and bought cheap Lego figures on here so we have a set up that means the police station is playable.There were 9 bags full of every piece you need (plus extras), and 6 manuals to guide you through the build. Includes stickers for various bits but nothing that's too challenging for kids and adults alike.

This is a fabulous set, my 7 year old really enjoyed building it. It was suitably challenging but not to the extent it frustrated her.My daughters have a lot of lego and this has been a great addition, it has provided a huge amount of 'play value', numerous characters have been arrested, chased and jailed.The set has plenty of different play elements and is well designed. When built it is surprisingly sturdy.Another great product from Lego

My son loves this, he received it for his 6th birthday. He likes to build the item then keep it built and play with it rather than build, break down re-build. But that's fine, though it does take up a bit of room! There are some cool pieces like the stairs though they do come in one piece, and I love the doors which slide up to let the vehicles in/out. We got it at the reduced price of £56 and I would say its value for money at that price.

Firstly if I could award this set more than 5 stars then I would as it is absolutely fantastic and has so much packed into it. I buy a lot of Lego sets for my children and they absolutely love building and playing with Lego and to be honest I really enjoy building the more difficult sets for them to play with and find it very therapeutic. I've just spent a wet and wonderful Sunday watching my son devour this Lego set - abut 3 hours of concentrated effort allowed him to independently build and create a Lego Police Station he is super proud of and is delighting in playing with.Like all lego, you get real quality and complete fun and enjoyment.I'm thrilled, he's thrilled and th model is awesome.Fabulous stuff.
