Ok, so I was skeptical of this at first, but decided to give it a try as it was a "warehouse deal". It was more expensive by a couple dollars than the traditional can opener but since those ones seem to break easily, I figured no harm done. It arrived quickly, within the window. Of course, at that point, we had no can needing opening to give it a try, so yes, the next day I actually specifically made lunch based around needing to open a can! Well, once I figured out how it works (took all of 5 seconds for my brain to function), I was amazed at how easy it was and how well it worked. This thing is compact but efficient. Took the top off completely with no jagged edges or juice spilling out of the can.Magnet held the lid until I used the button to release it. I really love this thing, and I love the design of it. One thing is, I wouldn't put this in your drawer if you have kids like mine who are always playing with kitchen stuff as the blades are exposed underneath but just like a regular can opener so you just have to be cautious. Really smooth and easy to use. I do not have any mobility issues, so I am not sure how it would work for someone with joint or hand pain or anything, but for me it is great. I hope it lasts. Much easier than the traditional ones with the thing you have to turn. This feels more ergonomic.

Having gone through three traditional can openers in the last 18 months. (Mostly the teeth that grip the edge of the canteen to wear out!) and being reluctant to buy an electric one to add to my already cluttered worktop. Plus most cans come with a ring pull, I bought this. I like Joseph and Joseph stuff and thought I would try this. You have to give it a couple of goes. You have to position it on the can and turn the dial to get the blades to engage. And it doesn't feel like it is cutting through because as you turn it. Seems to be just rolling ole"a knife through butter" but it works. However the ltop comes off and you press the button to release. To the point I recommended it to a friend whose mum has arthritis in her fingers and who struggles to use a conventuals one. Also it doesn't sit in the drawer and jam it like convential ones whose arms always open up and catch on the work too! (A quick prayer to Anoia the Goddss of Kitchen Srawers usually frees it!)

I’ve had a couple of Joseph Joseph bathroom products and was impressed by the design and build quality. We needed a new tin opener and had tried a few electric ones. Those always seem to work fine for a short while but are difficult to clean and start slipping and malfunctioning after quite a short time period. The cheap old school manual ones are usually pretty rubbish so as we had previous good experience with Joseph Joseph thought we’d try this. I can confirm that although it’s very compact this tin opener is nevertheless easy to use and doesn’t take very much turning effort. The build quality seems good and although we’ve not had it for very long I have a feeling it will be quite durable. It doesn’t seem to get too dirty thus far probably because it’s not too over engineered. Overall it’s a thumbs up from me.

I have to admit to being a fan of Joseph Joseph products - having had surgery on my hand for arthritis I now find I cannot use a conventional tin opener which is why I purchased one of these. It takes one hand to operate clips easily onto tins and all you do is turn the handle till the lid Is removed and then press the button to release the lid. There are no sharp edges as it cuts from underneath the rim of the lid rather than inside the rim.I would recommend this product - particularly if like me you have difficulty gripping as you do with a conventional tin opener. This is almost a perfect product but if there is one thing I would improve on it’s the height of the turning handle would benefitfrom being a little taller.

I have gone through many different can openers in my time and have never really found one I like until now. It is small and compact and sits well in my kitchen drawer and is very easy to spot. It sits nicely on top of any can (I have yet to find one it struggles with) and once you start to twist the top it clamps the tin and starts turning it. Once you have gone all the way round the tin you simply push the button on the side and the lid will pop off. I usually rinse the lid under the tap then release it straight into the bin. It has even opened damaged tins with ease. I have also bought one for my mum now as she has trouble with her hands and needed something easy and reliable.

I can’t remember if I bought this direct or from amazing but it was in the sale. So it was worth the money. I couldn’t justify the listed price now. BUT, if price doesn’t matter. I have found this easier to use than any other. No bent fingers in the scissor position or holding two parts together like the magician style, it’s less impactful on hands, no more bits that aren’t quite open that you have to go over. (I also can’t stand electric openers). To release the lid you do have to push quite hard but for me this seems to be why it opens in one go.Sturdy, simple. Kind of makes you wonder why this design isn’t standard.

I love the can do but it can take a little getting used to. Basically, hold it by the two thumb grips on either side, and place it on the edge of the can nearest to you, with the button facing away. Turn the top dial (the first turn can be a bit stiff but you'll get the hang of it), then just keep turning until the can lid lifts away. If the button doesn't drop the removed can lid immediately, give the dial another half turn and press the button again - the can lid drops away safely without hurting anybody. It's awesome, and it fits beautifully in the drawer.

Ha ha I thought I was looking at battery tin openers when I bought this so spent a few minutes trying to figure out how to put batteries in it when it arrived. It seems to work ok so far. Bit expensive for a manual opener and it still leaves a sharp edge on the tin. It is compact and it does grip the lid as advertised. The design means you get no leverage to help so turning the handle requires some effort which might not suit everyone. I’m happy to keep it now although it cost about the same as a battery one I tried (which failed to, um, open any cans).

Wow, I wrote a review when I received my can opener, saying it was good but wasn't sure how long it would last, well I've had it for a few months now and it's as good as ever, opens every type of tin, including those frey bentos flat round ones, it's comfortable to use and is for left or right handers, would definitely recommend and will be buying more from this range, I would say tho, give it a couple of days to get used to handling it, it's strange at first but it gets better, I won't go back to a standard can opener after using this ....enjoy x

This is a fabulous tin opener. It’s really practical. I am left handed and tin openers have always been a problem and this is not at all. I have had it some time and it’s still as good as new. It’s small and so easy to use. It’s also brilliant if you have problems griping things. This is the best thing I have used and I must say that goes forever product I have by Joseph Joseph and I have got many of them. Love it. thank you.

The best can opener I have ever used.Keeping in mind how many crap can openers there are...This one is great although a bit tricky to get started, but once is on your in business. Seems well made and functions well. given 4 stars as the can opener cuts below the rolled edge of the can, leaving a sharp exposed edge. This is a function of the handy lid holding feature. Sharp lid or sharp can.You can't have it all people!

Just got one of these - works a treat !The main benefit is that its so small, and all you do is turn the handle and it automatically does everything else !My wife is happy as it works left hand or right handed.I dont know why the 1st reviewer had problems ?? - but from experience JosephJoseph are extremely good at standing by their products and if you see their twitter feed, replace any product that is not 100%

I was skeptical of this because I’d only ever used traditional old-school-style can openers. But I love most of Joseph Joseph’s products, and I needed something compact for camping so I thought I’d give this a try. It’s very easy to use once you understand how to use it. Cuts great. And holds the lid until you click the button. I’m tempted to buy another for my home kitchen.

This is the best tin opener I have ever had. It is a really quirky design, is so easy to use and compact for storing. The only minor negative is ensuring it is dry use, it is very compact and therefore you can’t really tell if you have dried it off properly . It has worked excellently for at least three months now which is longer than most tin openers I have purchased .

Nice compact little can opener. Works flawlessly - have to admit I bought it in a hurry thinking it was a battery powered one, but - it's so nice it doesn't matter.Simply put it on the top of the tin, as you turn the green knob it grips the can and turns it. The lid comes off with the opener - press the green button on the side to release.Definitely recommended.
