Hoped to make a video review of this item, as this is one where actions would speak louder than words, but didn't get round to it.Packaging very hard to open - you'll need scissors to break into the hard plastic shell. Perhaps someone should invent a one touch packaging opener?Once you insert batteries and find a suitable can - it's amazing how many cans you find with ring pulls when you're trying to test a can opener - you just put the opener where the diagram shows you and, rather gingerly in my case, you press the button down for about a second. Then the opener makes a loud noise as it slices off the lid. You then have to press the button again to stop the mechanism. My wife, while generally pleased with the opener, has found several times that the opener ignored her second button press and carried merrily on round and round the can.The lid so far on suitable cans comes off cleanly, but leaves a very sharp edge. Dispose of carefully. You have to use your fingers to detach the lid from the opener.I've several times mentioned 'suitable cans'. The cans should be round, and not too thick, so soup and bean cans should be ok, but not sure it would triumph over a corned beef can, for instance. We've used it about half a dozen times so far and the batteries seem still strong. It's suggested that they could last for up to about 100 openings, so unless you're a student living on beans then you won't need to change them too often. The opener feels comfy in the hand, a bit like a smoothly chunky computer mouse, but its shape doesn't fit our kitchen drawer so not ideal for storing. Looks smart though. In summary, if your manual dexterity is lacking then it's worth considering but for others with enough hand strength to wind it, a simpler can opener would probably do fine, and at a tenth of the price.

I have used many can openers and usually the cheap ones end up wearing out quite quickly and don't make the job very easy so I decided to try this and let the cap opener do all the work itself. Its quite a small unit and sits on top of the can held on by the magnet nicely. To cut off the lid all you have to do is press the blue button on top.. Its ironic that its called "One touch" though as for some reason it seems to take about 4-5 presses to work properly (maybe I got a lemon?) however once its running it does a great job and makes opening cans quick and much easier than manual ones, when its done it turns off and stays on top of the can then when you're done just pull the lid off the magnet and dispose of it with no mess!..no digging out the top covered in sauce like cheap openers. The batteries on it last ages too, I've been using it for 8 months and I haven't changed them yet and I'm still really happy with it :)

The previous Culinare White One Touch Can Opener had given many years of service but had always been rather reluctant to stop automatically and let go of the can. Therefore, when it finally died it was an excuse to try and find something better. Various models were considered but in the end another Culinare was chosen; although the new design this time. The intention was to test it but return if the newer model had the same problems, going back to an old hand operated opener.Fortunately, once the Culinare White One Touch Automatic Can Opener was eventually freed from the plastic packing it was all good new. The battery cover was easy to open and the small magnet has a strong grip.A single press starts the opening as before but now, when the can is opened all round, a second press is required to stop the motor and then reverse the cutting blade.Well done to Culinare for improving the design.

Although it says "bean can opener" on the product description, I can say from firsthand experience that it also opens tins with other contents, which I began to suspect may be possible when I accidentally opened a tin of beans that had pork sausages in them. The can opener didn't break or give me an error message so I risked a tin of peaches, and then even carrots, and it worked! I am unsure if this invalidates the warranty, however. I have heard my dad suggest that it can also be used to open tins of soup, but I don't want to test my luck that far in one week. It's smaller than other mechanised can openers and uses two batteries rather than the usual one, but it's fast, idiot-proof,and has a pleasingly organic-looking design, though I admit that it's hard to get it to lay flat on anything when you aren't using it because of that same design. No complaints from me.

I bought this can opener nearly a year ago and it is simply the best gadget i have, so much so I buying one for my friend who struggles opening cans and loves mine, I saw some of the poor reviews which just didn't add up to me, so i thought i would add this one. The trick is to learn how to use it properly. simply place on top of the tin with the cutter blade over the edge and press the button, it locates by itself and starts to cut. when it finishes cutting around the can, (you can hear the cutting noise change) simply press the top button again and it reverses off the tin, allowing you to remove the cut top. Still haven't changed the batteries either. small and compact, stores easily in the cutlery draw.

This is a great can opener that is so useful and convenient to use for anyone, elderly people included. You just press the button and the can is opened for you, with a magnetic thing at the bottom that lift the lid off for you.You can use it for cans with a diameter above 52mm, this is specified in the description of the item so if your can is smaller than that, then obviously it is not going to work. Also specified in the description is that it may not work for cans with heavy seams, reamless cans or cans with odd shapes. This means that you cannot use this can opener as your only can opener at home.Overall,I am very happy with this can opener and highly recommend it as an extra can opener at home.

This can opener is very easy to use and involves very little physical effort. You just put it on top of the can and press the blue button. It then, rather noisily, works its way around the top of the tin. I have a stiff neck and shoulder and find a conventional tin opener quite painful to use. It would be great for someone with RSI or arthritis. It is very simple to use. However when it has finished opening the tin it doesn't stop itself and it is a bit tricky to turn off. It is also very easy to turn on and quite sharp when running - this could be a bit dangerous if a small child picked it up.Great for adults with mobility problems but not so great if you have small children about.

Con for this model is that it doesn't automatical turn off when the cycle is finished.Pros: I've had other "One-Touch" models that did turn off automatically but prefer this as when the battery stops working you can replace it with the tin still attached. The amount of time I spent ripping into tins with various cutting tools and pliers, spilling juices/sauces/oils, etc. when I had my previous version led me to buy this model. I'm happy with this one but the "One Touch" name continues to mean nothing: The previous model I had would absolutely never start without several "touches" of the button, driving me nuts, and this one has to be "touched" at least twice to turn on & off.

It's easy to start, but a bit fiddly to stop because you need to press the button whilst the motor's still running.I've never had problems removing either steel or aluminium lids but Ive not tried anything tougher than what Ive got in my cupboards. To use I just place it on the lid of the can, pull it close to the edge and press the button. Then I walk away while it does its job.Its my first electric opener and I scorned them before. It's remained clean, I don't know how, and I hope if I need to clean the cutters that it wont break.I'll certainly consider an electric one again, and would recommend this for storing in the drawer.

It opens tins and cans very well and does what it is supposed to. The unit seems very well made and it is easy to clean after use. It is fairly small too so fits neatly into the utensil drawer. Don't use cheap nasty batteries as it will not perform as it should. I did use 2 cheap ones and whilst it did open the can it took about 30 seconds and you could hear the motor labouring. So i stuck a couple of decent rechargeable batteries in and it works perfectly. Speedy service from the seller and well packaged. I think I will have to give this can opener a full 10/10 as there are no faults or "could do betters" in my humble opinion.

I bought this to replace an older model which got damaged and so far I've found this one much better to use I like the fact that if the battery runs down during use you only have to press the button and there is enough reserve power to to release the can or you can simply replace the battery in situ overall a good device which everyone should have in their kitchen another culinare device worth having is the jar opener especial if like me you are getting on in years and have problems with your hands.I would recommend these products to everyone and not just us who are getting on in life with the problems age brings along.

I bought this to replace one that gave up after about 15 years use. It is not as easy to use as the original design. It is smaller and moves around a lot on top of the can. Getting it started takes a while, locating it on the correct place on the lid is difficult. The press to start takes some getting used to. The new version is press to start then press to stop, so if you press firmly it starts but stops immediately. Getting the press pressure correct is not easy. The new design is a step backwards. Having arthritic hands this product is very helpful, once I can get it working!

takes a bit of getting used to but this is great for opening tins. I am disabled and cannot open tins with a normal tin opener so an electric one is needed. the good thing about this is the fact it just sits on the tin and will rotate. it is better than those that hold the tin off the worktop and they are so bulky they are too big for my small house. this item fits in and is light enough to lift with a hand that is failing me a lot of the time and, a hand that would not even be able to pick it up on a bad day.

This product is awesome. Specially for those who have problems opening tins manually. Easy to use, very intuitive. Just remember it doesn't shut off immediately when you push the button, it first reels the round blade in. It takes a couple of seconds to do that. On the video was my second time ever using this and I accidentally pushed the button twice at the end. The only thing I wish this had is a case or lid for the blade part, don't wanna put it in the drawer to clink against knives and stuff to dull it.
