Fantastic tin opener! My last very loyal tin opener died on my whilst opening a tin of beans one Wednesday morning for my ritual beans on toast, I was literally a third of the way around the tin and the tin opener would just not complete any more no matter what I did or what angle I tried it had died and was a complete shock to me as up until that day it was the most loyal tin opener you could have wanted, never failed, always there when you needed it and never said no to opening a tin! But on this Wednesday morning I was then left with my tin of beans wondering how to rescue those beans to be able to have my beans on toast for my breakfast fuel to be able to survive the day!Luckily with the help of a knife and some structural work I got the beans out and had my breakfast but then my search began for a replacement tin opener, I didn't want to spend a fortune that would have felt unloyal to my old one but at the same time I wanted a quality one that would last to replace it with something worthy of its quality and this one seems to have fitted that bill at first looks and I have to say now having owned it for couple months myself I think my old tin opener would be very proud and happy to have such a great replacement, this tin opener makes easy work of opening any tin and hasn't struggled to open anything as yet, it has also never failed or refused to open any! I would highly recommend this and please with the he choice I made, thank you!

When properly made this style of can opener is superb, very smooth and nearly effortless in operation. They open a wide variety of cans without any trouble and the Brabantia ones seem to be made to last.I bought my first Brabantia can opener of roughly this design years ago and it lasted more than ten years. It wasn't a big deal at the time, it was easier to use than any previous can opener I had used but I very soon took it for granted. When it finally gave up and wore out — it never did break it just eventually started to become harder and harder to use — I bought a can opener that looked very similar and it worked almost as well when new.The replacement wasn't a Brabantia but I couldn't find one at the time and I didn't think much about it anyway, not being too fussed over things like can openers. The other brand may have worked as well when new but it broke after a couple of years and I had to get another one quickly. I couldn't find a Brabantia one but I didn't worry. The new one wore out in weeks. The replacement for that wouldn't open cans at all. With all that in mind I came to Amazon, keen to get the Brabantia one rather than any other brand. I will come back and edit this if it doesn't last a reasonable time, but after my previous experience I expect it to last very well. I just used it today and it is as smooth and effortless as I remembered. If it lasts anywhere near as long as the last one I bought then it is a bargain.

Welcome. I trust you are looking for a non thethal entry device to open those troublesome tins of peach slices and such. Look no futher as this is the Queen of tin openers. On looks it's like a sublte, crouching peacock, totally unassuming in design and shape, but let her free and this little beauty shines through amonst the otherwise dull tin openers out there on the market.Wether it be a tin of peas, kidney beans, custard or my personal favorite beans & sauage this shiny, plastic handled rotary piece of magnificence tackles each metalic transport recepticle like a flighty stallion over a farm yard gate. There is literally no stopping it.Ages young and old will rejoice at the ease of use, tight handled grip and geared cutting speed at which this beauty cuts through tins with the grip and bite of a great white shark. No more sleepless nights through fear of discarding another half opened tin of "Tiddles" favorite moggy supper, no more worrying over dashing to the shops to pick up a carton of custard and no more disturbing the old woman next door with tired eyes and sore hands asking forgiveness and begging for another favour. This is where all those fears end. This is where your new life starts, your new life as the King of the Kitchen with the Queen of Openers standing by your side, hand in hand ready to take on the world!

I suppose I should - but I don't usually bother writing reviews on things I order. The only exception I ever make - is if something turns out to be "junk". But with this can opener - I just had to. Our household has had a Brabantia can opener for 20 years and it has been taken for granted year after year - this is a shame because it's constant service has been truly exceptional - never failed and always engineering perfection. Then, about six months ago, it failed ... I truthfully could not complain - it had been outstanding. I couldn't get another Brabantia in local shops - so had to spend a small fortune trying out other makes - they were all junk .... all expensive junk.Bought another Brabantia (which is EXACTLY the same as my last faithful friend) .... and I'm now happy - in fact, delighted. Might seem strange loading all this praise on a "can opener" .... but it's frustrating madness trying to replace an icon like a Brabantia - with other useless and expensive junk. Buy it ... don't even hesitate - there is certainly nothing else that comes anywhere near as efficiently perfect as - the genuine Brabantia.

Title says it all. For so long I’ve been hearing about the wonders of a Fray Bentos pie but so far all I have to show for it is a graveyard of broken tin openers. I was hesitant to buy a slightly more expensive one because what if it just broke like all the others? Am I just not destined to ever eat a Fray Bentos pie? After spending far too much time searching online I decided to go for it and order this one and I’m glad I did - it works!! It wasn’t the easiest task, it was still quite stiff and there was a moment I wasn’t sure it was going to happen, but I had faith and it pulled through. The lid is off! The pie is in the oven! It looks absolutely disgusting. But the point is if anyone else is in the position I was in a few days ago and not sure which tin opener to buy, this is the one! Happy(?) Fray Bentos eating!

Yes its made in China, but to a high quality standard. I had an old unknown make for several years, which gave up and bought a cheap Tesco one for about £2/3 , it didn't last a couple of months and struggled to open tins. I didn't think there was much difference in tin openers till I bought the Tesco one, so after checking reviews thought I'd go for a quality brand and pay 3x more money, as in most cases you do get what you pay for. This Braban. Tin opener is a quality item, looks good and opens the tin smooth and easy and I also think that the lids are not as sharp as my other tin opener left them.To add to this you get a 5 Year Brabantia guarantee, you definitely can't go wrong with that.I'm confident it should last, If it fails I'm contacting Brabantia and getting a new one, so worth the extra money.

I bought this Brabantia can opener after having gone through a couple of cheap cans. I wanted to use it mainly for large ghee cans. I've had many battles with can openers trying to get the ghee cans opened and it always took along time, lots of effort and always left bent, sharp and jagged edges. This can opener however was brilliant! It was recommended to me by my sister and I'm very pleased with it! Its very smooth to use, requiring minimal effort and always leaves a smooth edge, no dangerous sharp can edges! It worked very well for the large ghee tins and I'm very happy.I also like the design of the can opener, its looks nice and feels very strong and sturdy, the main mechanism part made from metal,I'm sure it'll hold up well for along time. Its very decently priced, worth every penny!Recommended!

This can opener that glides effortlessly through tin, so eeasily it is scary! We first purchased ours in 2015, it is 2019 and it is STILL going strong. It cost me £7.49 back then and has paid for itself many times over! I have wasted money on other cheap can openers but they all broke. you know the score. Comfortable, ease of use, dishwasher safe and remains sharp.Buy one, it will be the only can opener you buy in the next four years, and that's a relief yeah? You can sleep easy knowing that you are not going to be halfway through a tin of beans and it will give up the ghost! That is some weight off anybody's mind, right?Update purchased in 2015, it but the dust March 2021. Not bad going that, well recommended.

I'm getting on a bit, so the grumpy syndrome often kicks in with having to replace trusty old tools and utensils... Go on, start me off on those faffy new spud peelers...(!) Actually, don't... So when my dear old thirty year old can opener went to that great Kitchen in the sky, I thought, " Here we go..." But Brabantia has come up trumps with this little gem. Straight on the can and opened in 5 seconds. Fabulous. The review asks about Durability, which is a bit daft, 'cos I've only just bought it! Having said that, it looks to me to be a bit solid, so I am hopeful it will last as long as my other one. Which will take me until I am a hundred and eleventy eleven. Recommended.

I had a Brabantia can opener for I would guess twenty years before it eventually started to wear out and for some crazy reason, probably a senior moment, I replaced it with a more attractive, more expensive alternative brand. It took about six weeks before the new opener exited the kitchen via the window never to be seen again.I now have a new Brabantia, it doesn't rust after a few washes it doesn't jerk the can spraying juice everywhere, it doesn't leave sharp edges, it doesn't need to be sworn at or hurled about the kitchen. It opens cans, all cans, even corned beef square cans and giant trade cans, without effort or fuss. It is just the best can opener available.

I have used this model for 15 years or so, does not break or slip like the cheap models. So five stars for the product!I just recently decided to by another one through Amazon. I chose a company which looked reputable - or I thought so. The seller had a logo which looks like ToysRUs, except that they are called "Toys And Us". They sent me a fake copy which does not even look like the real thing or say "Brabantia" anywhere. There are no holes in the handles etc. and it says "Apollo Kitchenware" on the sticker. So I got a cheap chinese copy worth 99p instead of the real thing. So if you are wondering why the price is so cheap at Amazon, there is your answer!

I tried many different can openers even including one of those silly ones that cuts into the can from the side. I do not understand why it's so difficult to make a can opener that opens cans easily and efficiently. Finally decided to give one of these a go and was delighted to find it actually did the job properly. Not terribly expensive either although its a bit more than some others I'm happy to pay a little extra for something that works. Tested it out over a few months even specially buying a fray bentos pie just to see how it coped (no problem). Don't know about durability but it seems sturdy enough that I'm not worried. Would recommend anytime.

it all started in 1983 with a Brabantia can opener which i am saddened to say only lasted 25 years before the handle section snapped so at the time I could not source another and replaced it with a cheap Tesco which was less than useless but we persevered until we could source another Brabantia ...only to discover that this too is now made in China so whilst we paid good money for it only time will tell if it is going to last like the European made....at present the quality of the plastic appears better and the mechanism seems solid enough and it does indeed open cans with ease lets wait and see how long for

Searched everywhere to replace my previous Brabantia opener of the same design (which had given years of faithful service) but unable to find this model in normal shops. Spotted it on Amazon. Decided to initiate with ultimate test - Fray Bentos S/K pie tin. (Yes I know) It passed with flying colours so very happy to give 5 well deserved stars. Hope to get as many years service from this one too and just in case they vanish altogether I bought 2:-)Noticed one or two people have stated no name stamped on but mine both have Brabantia stamped on handle same as my old one.Fully recommend
