According to most reviews, Brabantia can openers are very highly recommended. However, they are also quite expensive, and so in the past I have tended to use cheaper models that look identical.I mean let's face it - who in their right mind would pay £12 for a can opener when you can buy an identical-looking one by a different manufacturer for less than £7?However, the only problem with those cheaper can openers is that they tend to be, erm, cheap. My previous can openers gripped the can too tightly, required a lot more effort to turn, and wore out a lot more quickly, with the cutting wheel eventually becoming loose.I've had no such trouble with this Brabantia can opener.

My can opener is a good one, but the rest of the family found that it needed too much pressure to use it properly, so I needed one that required less muscle. I tried this one by reading the reviews and found them to be accurate.Once the handles are pressed together, which is not difficult, the cutting is just a matter of turning the handle, without having to keep gripping the handles tightly together. This suits the smaller hands of some family members. The blade is an effective cutter so the handle turns easily. It also has the advantage of feeling solidly made though not too heavy. I can imagine this outlasting the cheap openers I have owned in the past and the whole family are happy with

This is my third Brabantia can opener. (Am I sad?!) The last one was a different type which I bought for space saving reasons for my camper van, and I didn't like it anywhere near as much as the bog standard version I used in my kitchen at home!. So the fancy single arm one has been relegated to 'a spare' and HURRAH this one does exactly what it says - it opens cans easily and without fuss. Thank goodness I no longer dread fighting with cans in my camper van!

I've had a number of can openers that seem OK when first bought but simply don't last. I've waited a few months to write this review because the real test for a can opener is how long it lasts. I use this daily to open tins of tuna for my cats and it's first class. You don't seem to be putting it under any strain when opening tins and I think that's the key issue. It just glides effortlessly. Highly recommended.

This has been the best can opener we've ever had, purchased in the hope it would be at least half decent but it exceeded our expectations by a mile! I've tried more expensive can openers in the past and have always been disappointed by the quality and ability to do the jobs they're designed for, not with this little beauty from Brabantia though!!

I bought this in 2014 and it has absolutely never let me down and still going strong. Its so good that I now am tempted to buy a backup. Maybe I'll watch out for it during black Friday. As you can see in the pictures, it has no rust and no sign of misuse, so if you look after it well, there's no reason why it will leave you with any regrets.

Great tin opener. Good for opening tins. Takes the lid off by cutting round the inside of the rim. This is better than slicing it off just below the rim, because there is less risk of cutting myself on the edges, and moreover the lid can be used to squeeze down on the contents, for example to drain the juices out from tinned tuna.

The usual excellent Brabantia quality and sensibly, the metal parts are all made of stainless steel (I can never understand why many manufacturers make metal products for kitchens and bathrooms that don't employ stainless steel as it just rusts within a very short space of time).

Item arrived promptly and well packaged. Very nice looking piece of kit and does what it's supposed to - opens tins easily, smoothly and no fuss. Obviously there cheaper tin openers out there but if this one lasts as long as some other reviewers have said I'll be happy.

So much better than the cheaper options. Our last Brabantia tin opener lasted so long, we decided to retire it due to old age.Out with the old and in with the new.If I knew how happy the wife would be with this, I might have been able to have a cheaper Christmas!

Good, solid performance from this product, it turns easily with no spillage from the can. I am an advocate of Brabantia products which are good quality, never rust and last a lifetime - unless you are careless enough to leave it in a holiday apartment!

Excellent can opener. Easy to grip and comfortable to use. Opens cans easily with little effort. Washes well, with no rusting of cogs so far. Best hand held can opener I've ever had - why did I buy all of those others! Well worth the money.

Shouldn't really get excited about a can opener I suppose but this is so much better than my last one which broke. Effortless operation even for those of us with weaker hands. Well designed and robust, it should last many years.

When they arrived. There was no brand marking and I thought they were fake .... I don’t care !! ... they are great! - lighterweight but sturdy abs they work!! And work well.They look good too - would def recommend

Brabantia always make the best quality products and while expensive you will won't have to invest in another for 15 years. By which time you might have gone through several cheaper and very inferior can openers.
