I primarily purchased this Kenwood Electric Can Opener for it's proven ability to open cans ! The built-in bottle opener and knife sharpener attachments didn't influence my decision at all. Both of the latter items do the job and I've found these useful from time-to-time. I'd owned a Kenwood electric can opener model, which preceded this particular model, which gave years of trouble-free service. When the time came to replace it (mainly because it was starting to look a bit tatty), this CO600 model was the first choice.Operating the can opener is simplicity. Hold the can level and rest the top rim of the can onto the drive gear. Now, press the operating lever down which holds the cutting blade. The motor will start up and force the blade into the top edge of the can and then proceed to grip and cut round the rest of the can top. Once this process has started, let go of the can and operating lever and move both hands away. When the cutting blade completely cuts through the top surface of the can, the 'lid' detaches and is attracted to, and held in contact with a circular magnet mounted adjacent to the cutting blade.... nice idea to stop the lid dropping back into the contents of the can ! The motor automatically stops and the can is still held firmly in place by the cutting blade. Take hold of the can with one hand and lift the operating lever with the other hand, which will then release the can.For safety, I always place the razor-sharp can lid back inside the can (after rinsing both the can and lid) and then I squash the top of the can to prevent the lid from coming back out. Then it's ready to be recycled in a form less-likely to cause injuries !Supplementary information...* The base of the can opener allows for stowage of the mains cable.* The operating lever / cutter detaches from the main body of the can opener for easy cleaning.* Works with small diameter to the largest diameter cans without any problems. In 2011 I bought a cheap 'Value Range' can opener as a gift. After two years and very light usage, this can opener won't grip the cans anymore, so lesson learned ... It pays in the long term, to spend a little more for a quality brand-name like this Kenwood Model .

The Kenwood CO600 is a very good machine for opening domestic sized cans. But! There is a technique ("knack") to get it to work! If you don't position the can correctly, the machine just will NOT cut the lid off. It "can" be frustrating - so much so that my we were thinking of sending it back for a refund. The instructions on how to use the machine are clear enough, but they miss out on one vital bit of info - the can must be positioned correctly. Once you do this, the machine removes can lids with ease - and is successful every time. I've attached some photos to show the correct positioning of a can. You have to position (push)the can as far forward as you "can" so that when you push the handle down the cutting blade only "just" catches the inside of the can's rim. Also, it's useful to hold the can at a slight tilt so that the can's side pushes against the serrated grip wheel. As I said, it's a little bit tricky to get the technique just right, but it's well worth persevering with as once you've got it, every can willopen super easy. I have no hesitation in recommending the KenwoodCO600. I have NOT be paid, or given any inducements to write this review. P.Edwards (Mr). North Wales.

This is our second Kenwood can opener...all being well this one will do us proud like the other one did (7 years service)..It was used every day for this time with all sorts of shapes and size tins...It was actually still working but was starting to hiccup a few times so best replace it before it went completely leaving us with no can opener at all...I can't use the manual can opener we have due to my athritic wrist....This one is a bit taller then our old one,measuring..9.5 inches tall, but this is to accomodate the bottle opener feature and knife sharpener at the rear (not that I will be using this feature)..but it's there if I ever need them...so I can't comment on the funtionality of these items..but I'm sure they will suffice for the jobs they were intended. All in all,a great can opener...well made and a great price...Cheers

Bought almost a month ago and wish I'd done so earlier. Faultless performance and easy to use even with artritis. It's heavy enough to be stable even with heavy tins of dogfood. Not recommended for use with tab opening cans it works when the ring pull breaks, but obviously not for fizzy drinks! Ideal if like me you have difficulty with manual openers. An additional plus is that non ring pull versions of foods like baked beans or tomatoes are often much cheaper so you recoup the cost in time.

I replaced my previous electric can opener (Morphy Richards) with this one, reading the reviews, it seemed like a good product. I trusted the brand name and bought it, very prompt delivery, good instructions and the product was very efficient, opening various cans with ease. It does take a little practice to get the can in the right position for the product to seize the lip of the can and open it but other than that, it has a lovely smooth opening action, no effort at all. Recommended.

Honestly I wish I'd have bought this sooner! Me and my boyfriend are tired of opening tins/cans with a normal tin/can opener. I commonly get hand cramps that makes it hard for me to do that, so after months of debating we bought this beauty and we're not looking back. Instructions are easy to follow, its simple and not messy to use. On the plus side it's also got the knife part and the bottle opener bit. So overall we feel it's an amazing buy! :)

Due to manual dexterity problems I ordered this as I am no longer able to use a manual can opener. (have tried the battery type ones, but they conk out after a few months). This works fine, it is still a bit fiddly for me to get the tin into position, but once I have managed that, the opener does all the hard work. The magnet retains the lid, so be careful when removing it, although there have not been any sharp/ragged edges so far.

I have had one of these for years, and replaced purely as I had a new kitchen and wanted a new one, but the old one worked perfectly well, so I knew what I was buying. Much easier than a conventional can opener, perfect for those with arthritis, carpel tunnel syndrome or the elderly who can't grip like they used to. Easy to use, and even strange shape cans (sardine cans) don't pose a problem. HIghly recommend and a good price.

This can opener is great it even sharpens my knife which has been blunt for years. I was a bit weary about it opening a tin of corned beef as that tin is practically square but I tried it and this tin opener made short work of it. That is part of the reason I bought the tin opener because corn beef tins can be dangerous as I cut my fingers before I got this tin opener.

Absolutely brilliant piece of kit for the kitchen. I have arthritis in my hands which makes it difficult for simple kitchen chores such as opening tin cans and sharpening knifes. This gadget does it all and the bonus is it pops the lids off my beer bottles. Easy to clean and sits neatly in the corner of my kitchen work surface.

I love Fray Bentos Pies and have had nothing but trouble opening them, with this it cuts them like butter, and I didn't think it was going to work. I do have one small issue, the thin plastic push down handle to get it to start needs to be made better! I can see this breaking first ..... hopefully not for some time!

Purchased this make on the strength of good reviews, as have tried other makes in the past only to be disappointed. Now the arthritis in my hands makes it difficult for me to open cans I decided to have another try at a electric can opener, Am extremely pleased with this make and would recommend, a good buy.

This is a replacement for an identical model bought many years ago, The gearing started slipping on the old one and a replacement blade fitment did not cure this. After recently cutting my hand badly on a tin I decided it was time to buy a new can opener and this is by far the best model I have ever owned.

Wow, what a great gadget. So easy to use. Easy for open small bottles. The knives are sharp as well. Just remember to hold the tin while using the tin opener. Silly me didn't by accident. Well worth the money and when registering it. Got 10 per cent of when I get a kenwood item that bonus.

I should have bought this can opener years ago. I (and my adult son) have both struggled with ordinary openers as we both have tremors in our hands. I can't believe the difference this opener has made. It seems to be good quality so I hope it lasts a long time. The price is great too.
