Do you have an adult dog that is suffering from Joint problems? If you do then this is probably the food your pet should be eating. It is not a Veterinary Prescription only food, you can buy it as and when you want. If your dog is receiving medication for Joint problems, you may feel happier checking with your Vet, but I can see no reason why this food cannot be given alongside any prescribed meds. "Amber", my rescue dog, has Bilateral Elbow Arthritis and Spondylosis for which she is prescribed Rimadyl which is a non steroidal anti inflammatory pain relieving tablet. I still think that any other help I can give her, to prevent her body having to cope with drug medication, is all to the good.So as well as giving her the Joint Chews, she is having Eukanuba Sensitive Joints. This brilliant dry, crunchy food is specifically tailored for Adult dogs of 1 year old and over and is suitable for all breeds.Eukanuba is a complete food so you will not need to add anything. Chicken and Turkey are the main ingredients, all of which are gentle on the stomach and easy to digest. In addition there is Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulphate to help support healthy joints. L-Carnitine is included for healthy weight which helps to minimise joint stress. Other essential nutrients and minerals are mixed in for a balanced diet. Being a crunchy food it is also good for your dog's teeth. Not only will this food help with sensitive joints, it also helps to build strong, natural defences, a healthy skin and coat, lean muscles, strong bones and aids dental health. On the back of the food sack, there are clear instructions of what quantities of food to feed your dog on a daily basis. This is calculated using the weight of your pet. Obviously the recommended quantity can be split into more than 1 meal. 3 meals are good, spaced out through the day. Playing, walking and eating are what dogs look forward to, so if the food is divided up into 3 meals there is more pleasure for your best friend. This dried kibble is great for using in activity toys, thus slowing down the intake of the food and the tendency of some dogs to wolf it down. Dispensing food in an activity toys also helps to get the dog to use its brain and keep your pet occupied for longer.I have included some photos so you can see the size of the kibble pieces.Don't be put off buying a sack of the food, just because it is large. It is the most economical way to buy it and as the sack is a very strong plastic with a zip top and stands up without flopping over, it is ok for storing. She has not been on this food for long, however I can confirm she loves the taste and she does not seem to find it so difficut to arise after resting. I hope to provide a further update to her progress further down the line.Interestingly, the Royal Army Veterinary Corps awarded the contract to Eukanuba to supply the dog food for the various categories of Army Working Dogs.UPDATE - Well "Amber" my arthritic Greyhound x Alsatian has certainly not got any worse and her vet prescribed meds are still the minimum dose which is minimal. Moreover she seems plays for a lot longer with "Maisy" our younger energetic dog when they are out in the park.

Eukanuba Sensitive Joints Dry Food 12.5 kgWe live I Cornwall and have quite a few dogs and have a few with dietary problems so this was an ideal chance to try Eukanuba's joint diet.I have a rescue Jack Russell who is now 12 and beginning to suffer with stiff joints and reduced joint movement. She also gets very itchy during the late summer months so we have tried this food in combination with Eukanuba's sensitive skin food.We have had her checked out at our vets and it appears this is natural degeneration and nothing to do with a disease starting up. The Vet suggested some diet changes and also a shorter but more often exercise routine. Our Vet recommended the Eukanuba range as it was designed with dogs with these problems in mind.Week one,Our little Jack normally eats anything but she was very suspicious of this food from day one. Lots of sniffing licking and not much eating. Instead of picking the food up after an hour we left it down and I think initially hunger and being a little piggy drove her to eat it. After a few days she liked it an cleared her dish every time. During this week we did not notice any difference in her stiffness and joint mobility.Wee k two,She is now hooked and feeding her this and the sensitive range is no problem. The ingredients are beginning to work and we have noticed slight signs of better joint mobility and attempts to go up on her back legs, something she has not done for a few years. She is also fast off the spot when the doorbell rings and is running rather than walking to see who it is.Week three,Her overall contentment with life is much better and she is obviously moving much better. With the new exercise routine she has also lost a bit of weight which must be helping. When we get home she now runs to greet us and goes up on her back legs, something that until a few weeks ago she had stopped doing because it was obviously uncomfortable for her.Overall.Yes it is expensive but on the other hand there is no waste or mess with this food. Our little Jack Russell has now got used to it and wolfs it down and with a change in exercise routine has benefited from this food. Her joints are much more supple and the progress of time has been put back at least 18 months. She seems a much happier dog too and really enjoys going out and has started to pull on the lead to make me walk her faster. I am convinced this food helps a dogs joints and will now use it for several of my older dogs. It's great to see them bouncy and full of energy again.

Well so far this has had a paws up as it has been wolfed down however to be honest he will pretty much eat anything! Jake is a staffie and is sensitive in a few different ways such as skin and joints and so we have decided to test a few different types of the Eukanuba out on him to see if they make any difference, however the review period is 30 days and I think that this may be too early a timescale to advise of any noticeable differences and possibly we may need to consider if second bags are also required. We are using the dry food as a mixer to the wet food too as having always fed both we think it preferable to stick to this rather than doing a total switch to dry food,so this possibly won't work out to be a brand we stick to (but obviously dependent on the results once known) as it does appear that this would be very costly to keep up when comparing to the normal brand of Winalot. What I can say is that the bag is very very big and I hadn't realised that 12.5kg was quite that much, so I am pleasantly surprised and also wondering where on earth to store it! The bag advises that it should last around 56 days but this is obviously dependent on your dogs weight and how much you are feeding per day and this guideline is based on your dog being around the 20kg weight range and obviously just on one dog so if you have two or more then this bag will last less than the 56 days estimate. The big bonus is that the bag is resealable with a zip lock at the top and so very pleased with not having to decant to a separate container all of the time and the food being able to stay fresh. The main ingredients in the food appear to be dried chicken and turkey, maize, wheat, barley along with dried beet pulp. I can't confirm so soon if there have been any positive effect on his joints and as previously stated think that this may take longer than one bag but we shall wait and see if this makes any difference to Jake's joints and the science part on the bag and the description certainly leads me to believe that it will.

I cannot lie. I am now an official Eukanuba convert. I never thought I would see the day that I would switch my dog onto such a high priced product, but having fed her on Eukanuba for four months now I can only rave at the difference it has made. She is almost ten years old, and has been plagued with digestive issues since a puppy. Now that she is aging I had started to notice that she is not quite as bouncy as she once was. She had started to proceed to caution when contemplating jumping up on things like the sofa. I wouldn't say that we had hit full arthritis yet, but things were feeling more sensitive for big movements.Since switching her across to Eukanuba I have genuinely seen a massive improvement in her health. Her digestion has been so much better, and she seems to be back to her normal agile self. She seems very happy with the taste of her Eukanuba, and she is fed two different sorts across the span of the day.The sensitive joints dry dog food, like all Eukanuba dry food, contains DentaDefense HMP which helps to remove plaque and stop it taking hold again. It also contains extra Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulphate, which is supposed to help support healthy joints. With an added amount of calcium, to aid bone strength, it really does seem to be a very good choice for older dogs.I can't deny it, I am now a convert to Eukanuba. Frustratingly, I have developed a bit of a smug self-satisfaction in the fact that I am providing my gorgeous dog with the best dog food ever. I am sure she can cope with that attitude, however!Overall, I highly recommend Eukanuba for your dog.

My twelve years young Springer Spaniel has recently tried Eukanuba dry food for mature and elderly dogs and I was well impressed with it, so I now decided to to try him with this one for sensitive joints. It includes an array of wonderful additives such as Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulphate to promote healthy joints, L-Carnutine which I haven't heard of but apparently helps reduce body fat to minimise joint stress, Prebiotics for strong natural defences giving the immune system good bacteria, high quality protein from chicken, lamb, fish and eggs, is also rich in antioxidants and a whole host of other good things for the well being of dogs that are knocking on in years. After using these dog foods for a few weeks now, I am seeing an incredible difference in my dog, the quality of his coat is much improved, shinier and I swear he doesn't seem to drop as many hairs as usual. He certainly has a trimmer waistline as he was getting quite barrel shaped with his enormous appetite, this brand of food as surely helped him lose fat without any lessening of his daily food ration. This product or probably any of the impressive range of dog foods they offer are well worth buying for the good health of your dog, even though they are very expensive, the longer I have used this brand I have realised that you definitely get what you pay for and I know that I was very fortunate to be able try this on the Vine Program, I now feel it is well worth continuing to give this food to my dog.

Our older dog seems to have drawn the short straw when it comes to health issues. She can't tolerate normal dog food as it upsets her tummy too much, she seems to pick up every ear infection going, she's bothered by her hip joints and she suffers from sensitive skin to name but a few. Trying to accommodate all her ailments through diet alone isn't possible but it's fair to say that her menu is usually pretty bland. I thought I'd give this a go to try and liven meal times up a little for her while still catering to her health issues and so far she's liking the change. We've started slow with this one as a complete turn around on what she is used to would probably be unwise given our past experiences but so far it's looking good. She seems to like it and it hasn't upset her sensitive tummy at all so we're all pleased with the trials so far. It's hard to say if her joints are improving, after such a short trial but it's it's not having an adverse effect so we'll stick with it a while longer.Downside to it all is that it's such a big bag it will take a while to get through and as there's no way to seal it once it's opened so we've decanted it all into a big food bin with a tight lid to keep it from going stale. Folding the top down and securing the top with clothes pegs would work too but a re-sealable bag would have been better.

Our dogs really loved this food, the texture of the kibble was designed to help their teeth, they thought it smelt pleasant and was literally wolfed down. The elder dog, an eight year old Labrador Retriever bitch, has been quietly 'aging' and seems to struggle more with stairs, the leap into the car wasn't happening (it took several goes to climb up) and she just seemed to lack enthusiam/energy. You can't really tell if she was in pain but logic says she was. We've just finished the first bag of the joint food, you can't really tell there are any omega 3's or other goodies just by looking at it, but having read the nutritional info it's an absolute power house.Did it make a difference? Yes, it did.An 'old lady' is bouncing round the house acting like a puppy again, drives my son mad wanting walks and games when she's normally a once a day girl and seems like a new dog.Would I buy it? I think if my budget allows it as a regular change from their usual food, I'd happily buy it. The bag itself is massive, great value and of sturdy construction. The zip lock top is a brilliant idea, no need to smell dog food every time I walk into the kitchen, it's easily opened and closed by my arthritic hands and keeps the food fresh, crunchy and dogylicious.Try it, I think you'll be impressed.

Eukanuba are noted as manufacturers of quality dog food, and this item did not disappoint. The consumer of this bag was a 13-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback with some arthritis, and while honestly it's difficult to say if it's made any difference to that specifically, he certainly enjoys the food very much. The kibbles are a good size for all dogs (our puppy, who is 2.7kg, can manage them just as well as the 36kg dog), and it certainly appears very palatable. The change to this food didn't create any issues with digestive upset (we did do it gradually, as directed by the bag, of course), and it isn't so high-fibre as to result in excessive, um, "output".One quibble raised by the dog's owner (she is a veterinary surgeon)was that the source of the glucosamine in the food is not given other than stating that it is a 'natural source', and she would have preferred it to be specified (glucosamine sulphate is a poorly-absorbed varient so she would have liked to be certain that it was not that type, although the description of it as 'natural' ought to preclude that). The dog is certainly happier on this food, which makes it a roaring success in our eyes regardless of whether this is just due to it being more palatable or helping with his joints, and we recommend it.

Eukanuba is a company that I've come to trust and having tried a lot of thier other products I thought that this one would be good to utilise to help an elderly dog. After all, when they get over 8 they're no spring chicken and whilst they still want to be your best friend it sometimes difficult for them to do what they want to.So trying this product out for a while, for me, gave it a real test of what it should do. Harry, wanted to jump up on the sofa and be your best friend, yet he was stiff and had a hard time managing it, even with a hummies help, so feeding him this for a few weeks allowed me to see his development.Firstly after a few days, you could see his fur improving, secondly you could see that he found it easier to get up and thirdly a couple of weeks later (a few pounds lighter) he finally managed to get up on his own. The joy on his face as he got what he wanted (tickles as well as the triumph of managing it himself) was definitely rewarding so if you have a dog of your own that has sensitive joint problems please do give this a go. You'll find it more than worth your financial outlay.

I was excited about the benefit claims of this dog food but hit the main barrier - my dog won't eat it. He has been fussy about food before and we ended up with Forthglade (wet) and Bakers Small Dog (dry) after trial and error. So my ideal solution is to have sample packs to first be able to see if the dog will eat, rather than leap in with a big pack. The container is good - decent durability and with a ziplock.I am now going to offer to my neighbour for their aging mutt and will feed back that outcome.UPDATE: while my little cross-breed terrier still will not eat it, our neighbour's collie breed loves it. It will be a while before any benefits would be obvious but at least we have found a fan.NB my dog may not have a problem with the taste - I have a theory that the size of the chunks could be the problem for little jaws.2nd UPDATE: my neighbour is really impressed. Her dog loves the food and has not had the digestion problems of old, prior to this diet. She is now a customer.

Well, Eukanuba is a well-known brand so I thought trustworthy one.Had a go at this on an older dog with some joint stiffness and definitely overweight.Of course the pretigious list of ingredients mean nothing if the dog will not touch the food but it went down well. A diet change should never be sudden so this was introduced gradually. I cannot testify to a better coat but there definitely seems to be an improvement in movement as the old boy had trouble getting up the steps outside, and likes to follow the old man around so the improvement was nice to see.As with all items like this a sustained approach is often the best so I think we'll keep this going as the benefits far outweigh the cost and if you come down to it,working out the cost per day is not that much, and let's face it the vet's specialist food would probably be about the same and this is delivered to my door. If you love your animal you do whatever it costs.

Our older cocker spaniel (9 years old) eats it all up, but then she's never been a fussy eater and we have to feed her a little less than she would LIKE to eat given that she has a slight tendency to put on weight and we have been warned by the vet not to let her get any heavier. She has no joint problems, but given that she is considered an older dog, I thought I would try this food to see if the omega oils might be good for her joints and act to prevent any deterioration. It's difficult to review a product like this given that Amazon gives us only a fairly narrow window of so many weeks to review new products, so I can't say whether it has had any beneficial effects. However,Eukanuba is a brand that is sold (along with Royal Canin) at our vet practice so at least I trust this brand to be scientifically balanced and good for dogs.Hopefully Eukanuba will do a good job for your dog too.

We got this for our 9 year old Cocker Spaniel who has recently gone through an operation to mend some ligament damage in one of her legs. She has always been a (hyper) active dog who doesn't sit still for very long, so hopefully this Sensitive Joints dry food will aid her rehabilitation. She already eats other Eukauba food so, moving her onto this has not been much of a problem. We have also been trying her with the Eukanuba Senior 9 Plus, but we will keep using the Sensitive Joints food as the primary until it is done. Amazon give a decent price for this 12.5Kg sack, and should keep the dog happy until she is healed in a few weeks, and beyond. I've yet to see any difference to her coat or otherwise, but I have faith that it is helping her impacted joint, as well as keeping the other legs and hips sturdy as they take up the additional strain.

Our chocolate lab is not the young lady she once was. She suffers from stiff joints and a bit of arthritis to boot. However this Eukanuba dry food, along with her medication, seems to be really helping her. Now I don't doubt that this food is having minimal impact on her joints as it's only a dry dog food, but still our dog likes it and is moving about much better than before. I certainly wouldn't 'just' use this food if your dog is having trouble jumping into the car or maybe just getting up out of bed. However if you use it along side a pain killer or other medication I'm sure it will further the help (please note: I'm not a vet so take what I've just said as passing advice and no more). The bag is seal-able which helps keep the smell from carrying around the room. It gets two paws up from our dog and a thoroughly licked bowl.

If choosing whether to buy this product or not based on reviews, you are somewhat at the mercy of the reviewer or in this case, their canine assistant. In this case, I was aided by a 9 year old golden retriever who seems to be showing the early signs of age. She's not quite as mobile as she was so this seems the obvious food.Eukanuba specialises in developing recipes for dogs which focus on their needs based on age, physical condition and potentially breed. Although it is early days, my assistant seems quite keen on this product. She is not too fussy generally, but this seems to have been a hit - the benefit here of the product helping sensitive joints is great as her mobility is definitely diminished.I will try and update my review over the coming months as she continues to use this product.
