Well so far this has had a paws up as it has been wolfed down however to be honest he will pretty much eat anything! Jake is a staffie and is sensitive in a few different ways such as skin and joints and so we have decided to test a few different types of the Eukanuba out on him to see if they make any difference, however the review period is 30 days and I think that this may be too early a timescale to advise of any noticeable differences and possibly we may need to consider if second bags are also required. We are using the dry food as a mixer to the wet food too as having always fed both we think it preferable to stick to this rather than doing a total switch to dry food,so this possibly won't work out to be a brand we stick to (but obviously dependent on the results once known) as it does appear that this would be very costly to keep up when comparing to the normal brand of Winalot. What I can say is that the bag is very very big and I hadn't realised that 12kg was quite that much, so I am pleasantly surprised and also wondering where on earth to store it! The bag advises that it should last around 55 days but this is obviously dependent on your dogs weight and how much you are feeding per day and this guideline is based on your dog being around the 20kg weight range and obviously just on one dog so if you have two or more then this bag will obviously last less than the 55 days estimate. The big bonus is that the bag is resealable with a zip lock at the top and so very pleased with not having to decant to a separate container all of the time and the food being able to stay fresh. The main ingredients in the food appear to be maize and fish meal along with dried beet pulp and I am assuming the fish meal is what will help with your dogs coat and skin as fish is oily and I assume the natural oils from the fish meal is the 'secret ingredient'. So we shall wait and see if this makes any difference to Jake's skin and coat but the science part on the bag and the description certainly leads me to believe that it will.

Therefor a specially formulated diet can help. The Science: Clinically proven ingredients in 6 key performance areas, clinically proven antioxidant to help promote strong natural defences, optimal ratio of Omega-6 and 3 fatty acids for a healthy, glossy coat, made from animal based proteins to promote muscle growth, prebiotics and beet-pulp to aid digestive health, contains calcium for healthy bones, clinically proven to reduce plaque within 28 days. The Ingredients: Maize, fish meal (21%), animal fat, dried whole egg, dried beet pulp (3.3%), hydrolised fish proteins, brewer's dried yeast, fructooligosaccharides (0.52%), dicalcium phosphate, sodium chloride, potassium chloride, sodium hexametaphosphate, calcium carbonate. The analytical constituents: 23% protein, 13% fat, 2.22% Omega-6 fatty acids, 0.68% Omega-3 fatty acids, 8% moisture, 6.4% crude ash, 2.2% crude fibres, 0.95% calcium, 0.8% phosphorus. The vet said her skin problems are caused by her diet so fingers crossed this sorts it out. I'll keep you posted.Update: Not really sure if it was the food or not, but Sky's skin is a lot better and she absolutely loved the taste of this stuff and wolfed it down.

This was obtained to help a neutered English Springer Spaniel, (female) whose coat has been fluffy and less than glossy since neutering. We became concerned that her skin was getting drier and wanted to address this by natural rather than chemical means.Other reviews have mentioned a strong fishy smell from this mix and they are not exaggerating. You'll probably be extremely glad of the re-sealable bag, as the scent of mackerel is very strong on first opening. It didn't seem to put our dog off her food thoughThe texture isn't like other Eukanuba products, the high levels of fish oils present make it slightly sticky. Despite this, it was wolfed down,a clean bowl at every meal and a waggy tail.Updated:The bag kept our girl fed for nearly a month and it was certainly enjoyed. As it was autumn when it was eaten the dog was growing her coat and looking slightly fluffier anyway, but we definitely noticed that her skin was not so dry looking. The food was well tolerated and apart from fishy breath, there were no digestive upsets. It's a quality food and she was possibly disappointed at the return of her standard kibble, she did look enquiringly at us when it was served. It's not likely that many dogs will turn their nose up at the fishy scent but I will add that ours is a dog who enjoys her food and she has happily eaten fish in the past.If you have a dog that is at all picky it may be best to try a trial size before investing in a 12kg sack.

Having a Westie afflicted by skin issues we have to be careful what we feed him but this seems good, doesn't cause him any problems and he eats it (though it took him a little time to get used to it, so don't be disappointed if they dislike it at first) so it does do what it is supposed to.Things to be aware of.* It smells fishy, but not very fishy, but it is rather different from most dog food.* The pack has a zip-lock type seal so the food stays fresh and the smell does not take over the house, which is a great improvement when you're used to open sacks of dog food. It will not keep a determined dog out, but does make the food easier to live with.* 12kg is a lot of dog food,so sure you have the space to store it and can lift the sack - if you have a bad back this size may not be suitable for you.As it is a new food you would be best advised to check your dog likes it and the food agrees with their skin condition before buying a large quantity but, other than that, it's decent dog food that's well packaged, easily to live with and appears to do what its supposed to.

Eukanuba Dog Special Care Sensitive SkinThis is a expensive food but looking at the ingredients everything is top quality and formulated to help dogs with skin problems. We have many dogs on our farm and we have a couple of middle aged Jack Russell's that have very itchy skin. I think this is due to them foraging in the undergrowth and around the farm buildings. They tend to eat anything and everything. However, the other Jack Russell's have none of these problems.Consulting our vet he said we could try a diet like this and restrict where they go on the farm. They have only been on this sensitive skin diet for a few weeks but I can report the constant scratching has stopped despite them still having full run of the farm. The dogs find the food palatable and there has never been any problems with them eating it. We have to stop the other dogs stealing it now!Our dogs are regularly bathed and have de flea and tick treatment reguilaraly etc. but these two have always been scratchy until we put them on this food. It's early days yet but so far so good.

The main ingredient seems to be maize, followed by fish meal and then beet pulp (which gives the fibre content. Checking out the internet no-one seems to have definitive answer as to whether this is good/bad or makes no difference to a dog.)It is an expensive product, costing nearly £40 for just 12kg (unlike, say, Burns which is another high end dog food but you get 15kg for your £40)It promises to help with digestion, joints, bones, coat and even with your dogs dental welfare. So it sounds like it should be a good buy.The bag has a zip-lock top which is very handy. This is my first bag, my dog eats it fine but I think I will have to wait a bit longer before I can say if it helped her coat. She is an old chocolate lab and was casting and looking a bit raggy so we will see if this can make a difference. To conclude, she seems to think it is good but she is a chocolate labrador and happily eats most things. I think I will have to see some good results for this more expensive dog food if I am to get more. I will add a post script later.

This was fed to a dog with extremely sensitives skin. we dont know if it is caused by grass seeds, flying insects or by contact with other household allergens but it can make the dogs life pretty miserable, as it causes soreness and sleepless nights, leading to tiredness. The kibble is smaller than we are used to, and it seems quite oily, and smells qite strongly....almost fishy. The vet recommended a kibble for sensitive skin. As we've used Eukanuba for many years we opted for this.So far therehas been a slight improvement in scratching (its not fleas by the way) redness is slightly reduced too.Our vet stressed that it is important that if feeding a kibble for sensitive skin then it should be used EXCLUSIVELY.You cannot feed any other dog food or treats unless they are formulated for sensitive skin. With a slight improvement showing already we will certainly persevere with that strategy and hope for a cure by the time shes finished the bag.

...to determine the hoped for benefits of resolving the flaking skin condition of one of our dogs. When I'm in a position to provide an update, meaning several bags more, I'll update this review. For now I'm hopeful that the claims will resolve the skin complaint of my pooch. What I can report is that with plenty of drinking water, a must with dried foods, my medium sized cross breed devours this food with tremendous enthusiasm. From an owners perspective it's the little things that make such a difference. The stand out piece is the ziplock tie. Even if this food doesn't work out I'll be keeping the bag. Ziplocking the bag means I can keep the food freshers without the need to either decant the food into another container, which I'll do with other food into this bag. Or having to tie up and untie the bag when I need to gain access/protect the food. Yes, it's only a small thing but a good thing for me...like it.

This dog food is great. I'm assuming the animal content is quite high, as the first noticeable thing is the strong smell of fish - bad for us, probably good for the dog. The bag has a sealable ziplock which is great, though I did find out that my judgement of weight is something to be desired. 12kg? Bigger than I thought. Make sure you have somewhere to put this whopper of a bag!As for the actual food, this review can't be fully accurate as it was being fed to a labrador, who literally eats anything. Shoes, curry, drywall - anything goes with her, so naturally she wolfs it down. However, I would say that this food has a slight disadvantage in being small kibble. It's not big enough for her to chew,so she gets hungry quicker. I initially got this as she's got black fur with some noticeable dandruff, and malts a lot. The food has helped with the dandruff well, I think because the ingredients are good quality.

As owners of a dog prone to malassezia infection, we were keen to try a non-prescription dog food aimed at dealing with skin issues (Hill's d/d food would be the prescription equivalent), and our vet also recommends Eukanuba food so we felt confident that it was a good choice. While it is difficult to quantify effects upon the dog's skin over the feeding period (approximately five weeks), there has certainly not been any resurgence in skin flakes/odour since switching him to this food, which has not been the case with other brands we have tried, so it would appear to be helping. This is a fish protein based food (and thus smells a little, although not offensively so),and is highly palatable to our dogs (puppy pinches some too!). The kibbles have Eukanuba's "3D dental defence" system to help keep teeth clean and are indeed very crunchy. Our dog is certainly very happy on this food and we would recommend it.

I have three large and rather daft labradors, they all LOVED this food and it's so prized that it even passed as a treat on training walks. However, personally I'm glad it arrived in a very sturdy and useful ziplock bag as the odour is a bit fishy for me.The textured pieces are designed to do their best to keep your dog's teeth clean and the various nutrients help with skin and coat condition. All three of ours are looking very shiny and the dandruff in the oldest dog has disappeared completely. I'd say that was a roaring (or should that be barking?) success.Cost wise, it's not cheap, but if you live on ready meals or shop at the more expensive supermarkets and buy deli foods, you'll recognise quality and be happy that your dog enjoys the meal. I personally couldn't afford it all the time but will happily buy it every few months just to top up the vitamins and keep my hounds happy.

We have a Golden Retriever with sensitive skin, especially in the summer when he is prone to hot spots. He was previously fed a tailor-made food to help with his skin but he increasingly began scratching at his body and nibbling at his feet and we weren't sure if the formula had changed. We switched to this food on the basis of the reviews and we're very glad we did. He seems to enjoy the taste, the smell isn't overpowering at all and most importantly his constant scratching stopped within days and his skin looks healthy. My only gripe is that the bag is so tall! So when I reach in to scoop out food I end up with the sides sticking to my arm and fishy dog biscuit smell on me.We could decant the food into something else but I otherwise like the zip locked bag so I will just continue to wash my arm after feeding! We would recommend this food and will definitely continue to purchase.

Our dogs have all very much enjoyed the experience of gobbling up Eukanuba, but after a fortnight on this recipe we have so far seen no change in Bruno's skin condition. To be honest we didn't expect any fast results and plan to continue feeding him Eukanuba on a 3 month trial basis. If there is still no improvement we will switch him back to a more varied diet. The manufacture pushes claims abut how nutritient rich, its food is, but I doubt any specialist dog food is deficient in nutrients. The difference in quality is in what isn't in higher quality food, rather than what is. The problem as a consumer is it hard to get that information from manufacturers so that you can make a complete comparison. All of our dogs have seemed a bit more lively after sampling Eukanuba food,so whilst it is expensive, we will be rotating it into our dogs diets in future.

The family spaniel is getting on a bit and has some skin problems around his front paws that never seem to clear up properly. We've been trying him on other Eukanuba at the same time, so it will take some time to see exactly how well this works for him, but he really seems to like the food, he used to turn his nose up at other brands of dried food, despite being a greedy dog. It's good value for the amount of food you get, and there are clear instructions on the sack to tell you how much to feed which is really useful. Sack stands up well in the shed where it is currently stored, and it closes over too so the food stays fresh. Impressed so far! I'll update if we find that this makes a difference to his sore paws - fingers crossed, but he likes this food a lot even if it doesn't live up to claims.

This food for dogs with sensitive skin is a fantastic product, it comes absolutely loaded with every ingredient imaginable for the good health of your dog. It limits the inclusion of ingredients that can cause skin itching and includes vitamin-rich fish as a source of protein. My twelve years old English Springer has been on this for a few weeks now and he loves it, although the greedy guts will eat anything. The appearance of his coat these days is lovely, it was looking dull lately and I feel sure this food will help his skin because he has suffered with skin problems occasionally. I have had him on some of the other foods in this brand and I cannot fault any of them. Well worth the expanse,I intend to carry on giving him Eukanuba for the proven benefits he is getting.
