I've tried the everything by El Dorado from the 15 year old right down the chain to the 5 year old. This is the pick from their range for an everyday rum in terms of price and taste. The 12 is better, utterly delicious and personally I prefer it to the 15 but at £37 it stings a little more in the pocket than this one. Save the 12 for special occasions and run with this as weekend tipple.

Very good rum for the price. Smooth but moderately complex flavour with caramel notes. Considering this is aged 8 years it’s very good value - compare with factory rums. ?

It has the traditional rum spiceyness balanced with sweet fruitiness that goes down smoothly. If you like good quality traditional rum, you will probably love this.
