I have been a user of Dyson vacuums since the introduction of the original DC1 and have continued to use them ever since. I’ve always passed down my older models to family members when replaced with an upgrade. Never had cause to replace one due to failure. Was asked to review this latest model and give my honest opinion and here’s my findings:Pros: maneuverability: This was the most noticeable improvement, although I’m not a fan of the new look design in comparison to the original traditional upright, this is overshadowed by the introduction of the swivel ball action which I found easier to handle, enabling me to direct it with ease into those hard to reach corners thus eliminating the need to manually lift and pull the vacuum into position when getting stuck in awkward areas of the room as could sometimes be the case with older style models. I’ve used the vacuum on hard flooring and low pile carpets, unable to say how it would handle on deeper pile carpets though as I don’t have any in my home!Noise:Pleasantly surprised how much quieter the motor is compared to previous models and even more so in comparison to the rather noisy cable free rechargeable Dyson I also own.Suction: As would be expected from a Dyson Vacuum, never had cause to question or complain about suction from any Dyson I’ve owned from the older models to newer models, however this one surpasses any previous models with even greater suction. Attachments: Wand and Hose: Love the redesigned wand with its new pivoting handle in the form of a round movable ball joint (as illustrated) This is a very well thought out idea. Allows more flexibility with movement when hoovering with the hose and attachments. This is particularly beneficial when working at low levels i.e. under low furniture, beds etc as the moving joint prevents the hose from twisting and bending enabling greater freedom of movement in any direction. You can easily lie the wand and hose fully flat whilst continuing to hoover at the lowest levels, the brush attachment still keeps in full contact with the floor aided by the help of a moving joint on the brush attachment, yet another good touch. This was not achievable with older versions with the fixed style wand handle and attachments as it would twist and lift sideways leaving the brush to lose floor contact and suction so low level hoovering was limited with the older attachments. Carbon fiber turbine brush: Newly designed brush head for low level hoovering (as described above) allows greater freedom of movement with its small swivel ball joint – it’s literally a smaller version of the main roller brush so you have the advantage of a decent smaller brush for use with the wand and hose.Tangle-free turbine tool brush: This attachment has two round rotating brushes and is a must if you have pets or family members who shed long hair. Before trying it I was skeptical expecting the hairs to tangle around the brushes but tangle they didn’t. The rotating circular motion picks up hairs without a problem regardless of the hair length eliminating the need to untangle hairs as they are sucked up with no evidence of tangling around the brushes. Unlike the conventional forward spinning rollers where you find yourself constantly having to unravel the hairs that have caught around the brushes. This new design tool has eliminated it altogether – very impressive. Attachment tool fittings: Improved fitting with a click in and lock system which eliminates the need to push the tools into place instead they now lock securely into place.Weight: Still slightly on the heavy side but lighter than the older models. Suppose it has to have some weight for stability. Would only be a problem if you had to keep lifting and carrying it up and down stairs.Cons: I did encounter 2 negatives with this Dyson and is the only reason I’ve marked it down to 4 stars instead of 5 Firstly the pull and push click/lock-in design which is used to release the handle from the upright position is hit and miss at times. Personally I feel this is a bad design compared to the older traditional Dyson models. With this new method you simply pull down on the handle to release it from the locked position, you hear a click as you pull which enables it to lower and off you go. In theory this appears to be a good idea. However in practice after returning it back to the upright position, again this achieved by simply pushing it back into the upright position until you hear it click back into the locking position. Unfortunately this isn’t always the case, for instance if you need to transport it i.e. lifting it by the handle to take it upstairs or pivoting it on its back wheels via the handle to move it around the house, it can sometimes have a tendency to release itself from the upright locking position without much effort. In my opinion the locking mechanism design is too flimsy to support the weight of the body causing it to unlock which then results in the vacuum body unexpectedly falling to the floor when you’re in mid flow of transporting it. The older method of pushing with your foot on the front roller in a downward movement to release the vacuum was by far more secure and worked well. Why fix something that wasn’t broken in the first place (Dyson you haven’t quite got this right in my opinion)Secondly: When using the tools with the wand and hose the body of the hoover does sometimes have a tendency to follow you too closely and bumping into you as you pull it along. This is probably due to the tightness and tension of the hose recoil so at times you find yourself having to stop what you’re doing to push it away from your back as it can become bothersome. Hopefully with time and more use the hose will become more stretched and flexible. It’s not a major issue just an observation as I do like to use the wand and tools and more so with the much improved attachments. Conclusion:Overall this is a very good vacuum cleaner with excellent improvements but not without some minor issues. However the negatives would not put me off recommending the machine as the positives far out way the negatives. Nothing is100%.

The latest Dyson animal ball 2 is rather similar to my previous Dyson DC40 but with a few extra's, for example it comes with a "tangle free turbine tool" which is primarily for removing pet hairs that won't get caught around the roller bar, now we love this for vacuuming the stairs, it gives them a really good vacuum and leaves the stair carpet looking like new even though we don't have pets. It is much better at vacuuming stair carpet than the usual flat head stair tool. This tangle free turbine tool also attaches to the main frame of the Dyson vacuum with an audible 'click' and as yet has never dropped off once which can be rather irritating when parts constantly fall off.We also love the cleaner head as the brush roll seems 'fatter'and has micro fibre instead of bristles on it which I feel is more gentle on our wood floors, it also doesn't seem to get my wife's long hair tangled around it like the bristles did! You can also adjust the strength of the suction by a slider on the front of the cleaner head which is brilliant while transitioning around from wood floors, rugs and carpets which all require a different suction. We also like the fact that the wand pivots and bends sooo easily making reaching into awkward corners so simple and effortless, this is a really simple but effective feature that we can't understand why Dyson haven't developed it before now! Definitely NOT as restrictive as the usual straight wand. The crevice tool also seems slightly longer which is also a good thing and I use this to clean out my tumble dryer fluff vent as it reaches all the way down to the bottom helping to keep that clean really easy & with the pivoting wand I don't even have to detach the wand from the hose! One particular noticeable feature about this vacuum is how quiet it is!! Of all the Dyson vacuums we have owned over the years this has got to be the quietest!! A fantastic improvement & no more complaining teenagers when we're vacuuming downstairs while they're still in their beds at lunchtime! You can barely hear it! The drum itself is also slightly larger than our last Dyson as after vacuuming every day for 2 weeks I have only had to empty it once & even then it could've gone a couple more days. Emptying is relatively easy except I find like with most of the recent Dyson models the cyclone has a mesh around it which tends to be difficult to clean, dust gets trapped behind it and there is no way to get this out other than giving the drum a firm tap and knocking any dust and debris down the cyclone hole and into the rubbish bag.Now the things we don't like: this vacuum is heavy & particularly heavy for my wife to carry upstairs as she has a bad back. Secondly as with all of the Dyson Ball range the vacuum is very unstable while putting back into the upright position, until you get used to it you have to make sure you push it firmly forward ensuring it locks into place otherwise it will fall back and could potentially cause an accident or some damage to furniture (I very narrowly avoided it falling and smashing into the computer monitor screen) . This is definitely a downside to the ball range and I would like to see this improve with any future models.Summing up: We really do like this vacuum, it's quiet, powerful, does an excellent job of cleaning & manoeuvres around quite efficiently, particularly liking the turbine tool.DISLIKES: Weight, it's heavy and quite unstable when putting into an upright position, you must double check it is locked into position before letting go of the handle or it falls back.

I have been using this hoover for over a week now and it has been very comfortable and easy to use. I have been used to my DC28C Multi Floor (Dyson Cylinder Hoover), but I was pleasantly surprised how robust and powerful the Dyson Ball Animal V2 is.PROSThe hoovers suction ability is very powerful and impressive and is much better at sucking up things than my other Dyson. It works extremely well on all surfaces such as carpets and hardwoods. The button next to the power button on the hoover allows you to stop the fibres in the cleaner head from rotating which is handy for hardwood surface when hoovering dust. I also found the manoeuvrability of the Dyson Ball Animal 2 was very easy due to its ball design. It allowed me to manoeuvre around tight spaces without having physically lift the hoover every time. The reclining function assists with this manoeuvrability making it easier to push around. The design of the hoover also makes it very compact with the hoover arm retracting into the back of the hoover. The retractable arm was again another useful feature which enabled me to reach in very high and low places such as dust on top of curtains, under sofas and even under beds. The variety of different attachments which are provided really help maximise the use of this retractable arm. I found the turbine head attachment worked well to reach dirt under sofas. The hoover is also much quieter then my other Dyson machine and it can hold more rubbish saving the amount of times I need to empty it.CONSAlthough compact I found the Dyson Animal Ball 2 to be quite heavy when picking it up and putting it away in the storage cupboard. I also found that it was quite fiddly when attaching the main cleaner head for the first time as every time I tried clicking in the cleaner head it would detach. The length of the cable is quite long which is useful at times but as it doesn't retract the cable it can be a bit of nuisance. Also, the instructions could have been a bit clearer as it took us a little bit of time to work out how to store away the retractable arm.OVERALLIt is a very powerful, reliable and dependable hoover with great features which has made it a pleasure to use but I feel there are some minor changes which could be made to improve the hoovering experience to reach that top level.

Was given this brand spanking new, not in shops machine to a non biased review on 3 wks ago.Firstly......Makes less noise than my kettle! It’s so quiet you can actually still hear the phone ring, and door bell, both of which I usually miss while doing housetwork.Don’t be fooled by is less intrusive noise, as the power of this new beast is fantastic! We’ve two elderly Golden Retrievers, whom at present are beginning to shed their Winter coats, so a perfect time to put this to the test, which it passed with flying colours! The bush head, is just a smidgen narrower, which given we have a few steps throughout our family area and conservatory means that it glides perfectly along the length of them, with hardly ever having to use the now many onboard tools, another well thought out addition, meaning I don’t have the now remember where I left the attachment to get in to those books and crannies.Bringing me to the new hose extension.... having not read the lil handbook ( a well seasoned Dyson user) I proceeded to pull out the extending hose, grab the now handy attachment for those ever hanging cobwebs! to find that instead of having to bend the hose out of shape we now have a manageable bending socket swivelling top part to the handle, making the hose so much more flexible, a treat when reaching round the conservatory crevasses and shelves. Finally, great new longer cable, no more having to run around plugging and unplugging to get around our 5 bed house!! The only thing I’ve found is it’s a lil heavier, but this seems a small sacrifice for the power behind this silent monster! To summerise, I’d say if like me your a die hard fan of the very first Dyson animal, and felt that newer models fell short of this old fav, then you can satisfy yourself that if you take a chance on this new guy, then it’ll be one lovely nostalgic clean sweep!

We had a DC24 years ago and after it broke couldn’t justify another Dyson so moved to a vax, which did a pretty good job for a lot less money. Fast forward to 2018 and we’ve got 2 heavy shedding corgis and a toddler (with another on the way) and our cleaning requirements are significantly greater! With a medium pile carpet in all of our 4 bedrooms and hardfloors downstairs we needed something which could handle both. Toss up between the Animal 2 and the light version, but went with the bigger model looking for the deepest clean possible for the carpets. So on the medium pile carpet and on medium suction mode the vacuum is indeed heavy, but that is easily offset by the sheer amount of hair and dust that is picked up-totally worth the workout!Amazed at the amount it picks up and have developed a small addiction in vacuuming as it’s so satisfying seeing how much dirt can be lifted every few days. Plus the carpet pile has got a new lease of life as it is definitely looking better even after just a few cleans. On the hardfloors it manouvers great, Just light suction needed there and the ball makes it very easy to move around. The long power cable is a huge benefit (but still dreaming of the day that battery technology allows this sort of cleaning and duration without the need of mains power!)Overall I would say this probably isn’t suitable for someone who has diminished physical strength (unless pet free, have low pile carpets or hardfloors) but would definitely recommend to those looking for a deep clean and who don’t mind the elbow grease

Bought my Dyson Animal 2 a week ago to replace Dyson DC07 Animal (which is still working) but is to be downgraded to car duties. The suction of this new machine is phenomenal. I had vacuumed a couple of days prior but the cat hair and dust/sand particles that came out was beyond belief. There are different levels of suction so I did it on highest setting as thought my previous version was not picking up quite as well as when new (but it must be just over 10 yrs old, good value) and am ashamed to say had to empty twice. The new wand is really good, I love the way the new tools "click" onto the wand, there's no jamming them on. You just press the button and they are removed easily. The carbon fiber head is so useful, attaches to the wand you can get under really low furniture, between legs of chairs, under radiators and right up to and along skirting. The little turbine tool for doing soft furnishing is really important, having a long haired cat its great to be able to clean the sofa etc without the hair tangling round brushes. you can also still use the tools directly attached to the hose if you want to by removing the wand first. As I mentioned earlier the suction can be used at several levels, today I used it on full only at door thresholds and high traffic areas as normal level is really sufficient. Bucket only one third full today and the airs so clean. All the tools apart from carbon fiber head have their place on board and its a beautiful machine. I'm so glad I treated myself.Go on do yourself a favour buy one!

I have the Dyson DC40 I had it up in my loft brand new, I thought it was a mistake buying it as it looked awkward to use just looking at it, anyway I used 2 or 3 hoovers that all seemed to die a death after about 8 months. i asked my husband to get the dyson DC40 down from the loft. I started off with it around the house well it blew me away, it's suction was brilliant and it went this way and that way with ease, under things around the edges, I hated hoovering but now I was flying around the house with ease and jumping for joy I just could not believe I had left it up in the loft about 2 years, if only I had known it's capabilities before this I could have saved myself all the strain and stress of using the other old useless hoovers. The Dyson MC40 saves me time, strain and stress and it does an absolutely brilliant job of cleaning my house with ease. My only problem is I can not find this model anywhere so far, only the new models which do not seem to have the same size brush on the front, they seem shorter unless it is the pictures shown. I want the same model to put by as it is so good I fear I will not get another one like this as they keep changing the model and making them smaller it seems. If Dyson are reading this review, please can you fetch back this DC40 model and keep it just the same as originally it was?????? I am up up and away with my DYSON DC40 full steam ahead

This dyson is fantastic. Much lighter than I expected yet very powerful. It’s far easier to manoeuvre compared with any other machine I have used. When vacuuming the dyson is easy to turn in all directions just by simply turning your wrist. It moves effortlessly to where you want it to go. The wand is easy to pull out and use. The angled nature of the arm means it’s really easy to clean under beds and under tables. The dyson cleans from carpet to the hard floor easily with no adjustment needed. One thing I found surprising was how good it is on my looped carpet which I’m not supposed to use a rotating brush bar on. With the brush bar switched off it cleans the looped carpet far better than my previous machine. The wand with the floor head also does a great job on the looped carpet and is handy for those hard to reach places. The transition between vacuuming and standing the machine up is easy. It simply clicks into place without any fuss.If I had one small criticism it would be that sometime the carry handle can feel a little fragile but my friend’s dyson feels the same and that has lasted for years ( and is still going).Overall I’m thrilled with this machine it’s effortless to use and comes with a very useful range of accessories.

I bought this to replace my long-suffering DC25, which was getting on a bit. We have a second dog on the way and decided to treat ourselves. Top features: fantastic suction, quieter than my old model, onboard storage for tools, and improved design on the brush head.Wand: I read the reviews carefully before I took the plunge and noted quite the comments about how difficult it is to extract the wand. No problem here. On first use, mine worked like a dream. I didn't have to wiggle or force it. It came out with a gentle tug, just as I'd expect.Weight: Some reviewers have commented on how heavy it is. I did a weight test and compared the new model with my older DC25. They felt equal to me.If you're used to cleaning with a standard Dyson ball model, I don't think you'll have a problem.Suction: This model is quieter than my older DC25 and I wondered whether it was pulling as hard; it certainly didn't sound like it was. Then I looked at the bin and knew it was doing the job! I have a Lab who sheds heavily and the Animal 2 handles the hair with ease.Overall, I'm thrilled. I hope Dyson doesn't discontinue corded uprights completely. I love the design and not having to worry about battery charge.

Dyson kindly replaced my old DC55 total clean with this upgraded model. I have put my new Animal Ball 2 together easily and tried and tested all its attachments around the home. Being an avid Dyson user of many years have found they have much improved with developments of older models.Great suction, long enough cord to get around the house. Onboard tools. Love the 360 hose wand, more user friendly around and under the furniture. Another bonus it doesn’t fall over hoovering the stairs and has a better reach from my previous models of Dyson’s. So at least being a bit heavier will stop it falling over using the attachments. Which was a problem of previous models.Much more user friendly and easy to use .Having dogs and different floor surfaces find this glides easily from surface to surface. After reading several reviews, if anyone is unsure how to put it together and use correctly -just type in the name and model on you tube and it will give you a demo how to put it together and use correctly.Impressed so far with this....Thanks to Dyson and to Danielle for all her help and support with my previous Hoover and the change over.

I had this for a couple of months and I'm still amazed at the cleaning power of this machine, it really removes so much grit and dog hairs from the carpets and furniture. On the day that I got the Dyson Ball Animal 2 I had already vacuumed the house with my old Dyson 33 but of course I had to give my nice new machine a test drive, I had always thought that my Dyson 33 had been good at cleaning so was surprised when after just doing the ground floor I had nearly filled the cylinder. Next I tried the tools and again was amazed at the ease of use and efficiency I really like the way that the hose pivots, it makes cleaning up high and under furniture so much easier and the length of the electric flex means I can clean the whole of the ground floor without having to change plugs. The turbo tool makes cleaning the stairs quick and easy, it is also great for cleaning the car seats. And the tool that lays flat means cleaning under beds and units is perfect.I have been truly amazed at the cleaning power of the Dyson Ball Animal 2 and would highly recommend it to any one with dogs or other pets.

Having always had Dyson uprights, I have to admit that I was a little apprehensive about using an upright ball model. On its first use I felt my initial reservations might be true. However, my advice is to persevere as on its second use, I found it much easier and now, after a few weeks find the ball system simple to use. This machine is very quiet compared to previous models. Its suction power is amazing - we emptied the cylinder twice on our maiden voyage and had only recently used our previous model. This machine glides smoothly from carpet to wood floor without having to change the setting, which makes vacuuming much quicker.Another plus is that the lead is longer than previous models; we can now vacuum much further around each level of our three floor property without having to stop and change sockets. The smaller pet hair attachment is particularly effective when cleaning sofas. When using the extending hose attachment it was great to be able to swivel it as, with previous models, this was not an option.Overall we are impressed with this smaller machine's abilities.

After about eight years Smoke started coming out of my animal one and I had to quickly review the latest vacuum cleaner options and make a decision. I watched a couple of YouTube videos and read a couple of articles and decided to stick with Dyson having had 2 dysons before. Animal two was quick and easy to put together and I didn’t experience any issues using it, unlike some people who have put reviews on here, but perhaps that’s because I was already used to the quirks of Animal. Suction is great and it is a little easier to carry than my old model. There are a couple of minor things that I have noticed however: 1) it is slightly taller than animal1 and so to fit in my hoover cupboard I have to dismantle the handle 2)whereas the old nozzles clipped on and off, the new design has a push button to release them. I found this a little annoying initially but I’m now used to it. Overalls I recommend it. PS I also bought a spare top filter so I can wash one and switch to the other instead of not being able to use the hoover again until it is dry.

Purchased the Dyson 2 weeks ago. The Dyson is an amazing product however the instructions were not clear for me to assemble my hoover together. It’s also very heavy to manoeuvre around the home. It did however allow me to reach places like the ceiling and the chandelier which I haven’t cleaned for years as I was unable to reach them area’s. It was easy to clean the the webs as it has an incredible feature rotating handle which allowed me to get rid of the dust which had gathered for years. I did not have to move any of my furniture as it was very compatible for everyday use. I prefer the new attachment for the stairs as it’s really easy.I also use this hoover for my car and found it very helpful as it was really simple for me to deport the hoover into my car as the wire was incredibly long. After weighing out the pro’s and cons I would definitely recommend this products to my family & friends as it’s made my life simple. Thank you once again for an amazing product!!! A********Nusrat Ali
