Having borrowed a DC32 for a while, I invested in a Dyson vacuum of my own. Current cordless options simply cannot maintain decent suction for long enough before the batteries run out, so no V10 for me. The Big Ball Animal 2 is a great vacuum - suction is superb and its a bit quieter than the DC32. BUT - the DC32 had an excellent design feature - if you had a small storage area, you could wrap the hose around the machine and clip the telescopic wand - with any attachment - to the side, and pick it all up. The new version (my machine) has a stupid clip on the back that only clips in with the pneumatic head, and necessitates the wand to be upright. This takes up lots of space and is nothing short of a design fail. Its a storage position to show, not to store. I have no want to 'show off' that I've got a dyson - when not in use, it sits in the cupboard out of the way, but the current model means messy storage. The best attachment by far is the tangle free head, but its very small. It uses some of the suction power to turn the brushes, so if the head were any larger, the suction loss to power the brushes would be too much, i suppose. For pure suction however, i find the pneumatic head is great. The hose however is too short - shorter i believe than the DC32. It won't stretch to a single flight of stairs, so you are forced to split stair cleaning half and half - and therefore forced to use the machine against dyson recommended guidelines. I have to leave the ball at the top of the stairs to vacuum the top steps because it won't reach from the bottom, and hope it doesn't fall down the stairs on top of me. Design fail. The bin emptying process is an improvement however - when pressing the button, dropping the bin a few inches away from the cyclone filter is a good move and allows all of the debris to fall into the bin without getting caught. Good design point.I would recommend this vacuum cleaner, but be mindful of the storage issue, and hose length.

We tried this machine in our house. At first we're surprised cause it really looks small and compact. It's not very heavy, I think that Miele Blizzard is heavier and bigger.I must say I don't like the pneumatic cleaner head. It just feels plastic and cheap. I was really scared to use it on our laminate thinking that it would scratch the floor. Strangely the head didn't do anything, it was the big wheels on the cleaner that were leaving marks on the floor. The hose is really short and well as the cord. Would be great if the cord was at least a meter longer. It's also a bit strange that you cannot adjust the wand from the top, the adjustment button is on the bottom of the hose. Not very convenient sadly. The suction is excellent.Comparing to Miele Blizzard, Dyson definitely wins. It's not really loud, you can still have a conversation while vacuuming. Tangle free turbine works surprisingly great on the furniture.Although the turbine head for carpets is a bit disappointment. Why have they changed the turbine from the one that was provided with the machine before? This one's really small and it just feels a bit flimsy.Combination tool and well as upholstery tool work great. The bin emptying system is perfect. Wouldn't change anything, nice and easy. Would I recommend it to a friend? Yes, for a friend who doesn't have 3 storey house. Taking the short cord it's just not good in our house.

Just upgraded to this from a Dyson DC14. Had old hoover 11years no major issues but felt wasnt picking up like it used to so upgraded. The big ball animal is best described as having an old pet (DC14) and getting a new puppy (Big ball 2). This is when you notice how much livlier it is!! The cylinder ate through pet hair with ease and ashamed to say surprised just how much more dirt was picked up, on hardwood floors works flawlessly. On carpet i changed tools to the turbo tool, still needed arms like popeye but what a clean the carpet got! Only reason i cant give 5 stars is because this is a little cumbersome (dragging the machine) this could be more to do with ive only ever used an upright hoover and also when storing it.Yes it is lighter and more compact but a big downside is personally because i feel the clip to attach the hose to the hoover seems far to flimsy and the angle it clips the hose means the unit as a whole occupies more space. I personally feel an attachment to screw into wall where i store hoover would be better like what the cordless hoovers have. I know Dyson dont develop corded hoovers now but i think your missing a big market here and should at least keep one corded version. Overall very impressed and its much queiter which is great news because i also bought my wife the dyson hairdryer and have a dyson desk fan which are also much quiter than other brands

this is my second dyson cylinder I previously had the dc39. having prior to these an upright hoover it does take while to get used to the cylinder but overall I think it is better if you are older or like myself have any medical conditions that effect your strength. as usual cant fault the suction. HOWEVER hose is way too short. its a nightmare having to carry this on every step as you hoover them, why not make it so u can leave it at the bottom ? we have 3 floors so two sets of stairs feel like I have had a painful workout when I do them both. tools are amazing as always. but please design something so they can be transported with the hoover ,there is nothing worse than getting to the 3rd floor and realising the attachment u need is down 2 flights ! no hoover is perfect we all have different opinions and tastes but dyson really does stand way apart from ALL others. just waiting for the cordless to last longer and not have to have the button continually pressed in so I can move to the future of hoovers !!

I had a Dyson DC19DB Multi Floor Cylinder for over 18 years, and it was still working when i decided that i needed a new vacuum cleaner... and it had to be another dyson. I didn't want an upright, but something similar to what i had, because of storage. So i saw the animal was £100 off the original price and thought bargain....why not!!!I ordered it Friday it arrived Saturday and before i could even test it, my husband had already put it together (very easy, simple and fast), and had zoomed around the house with it.....He then showed me how clean and lifted the rugs where, and and then i felt the suction power, amazing.. not to mention the different heads for the various surfaces and areas.Again loved it, and it was slightly smaller than my previous model so again double points regarding storage....What more can i say it looks very neat and smart... Very powerful, good value for moneyHighly recommend as a best buy!!!!!!

I was very fortunate to be given this model to test.Having owned previous models of Dyson hoover,i was interested to see how they could be improved.I have 2 dogs one of which moults considerably,so i was interested to see how the new Animal model picks up the fur.It certainly does...the suction is brilliant on this model. The wand is considerably longer so i can comfortably reach higher areas and i can do the stairs. This model is quieter than my previous model too.My favourite thing about it,is how easy it is to empty the bin.Previously on my old model i still had to get my hand in and extract the pet hair which had stuck around it.Also the ease of putting the bin back onto the machine is fareasier than before. All in all i am very pleased with this new machine,as a pet owner i give it my seal of approval.I am also fortunate to have been given this machine to test and to keep it afterwards free of charge...marvellous..thanks so much..

I'm am thrilled with my new dyson big ball , great suction.Tools.... I thought the long bit with brush was a bit long and awkward to use in the car ... preferred the shorter one that came with the animal DC39. Do not like the dual mode cleaner head ... much prefer the tool on the animalDC39 as this is smaller and has brushes .. a lot easier to use on my wooden floors. The long -reach wand extended longer which was great for my high ceilings. I liked the main brush better as it was smaller and it went under my furniture a lot easier. The machine is great if it toppled over, it will right itself on its own. Dyson has put a better style of handle with this machine ...a lot more flexible ,as I my handle on my other machine has broken a couple of times. The bin is brilliant as you don't have to pull apart and touch all the dirt ... it comes out in one action. I love Dyson products and this is another fantastic machine !

Not sure what most of the reviewers have been smoking but got ours to replace an old and dying DC08 Animal. Didn't know how bad the DC08 had got until we used this baby. Excellent, powerful suction that made our carpets look brand new again. We have 4 cats that we limit their roam around the house, but we still get trails of fur. This beast picked cleaned the carpets no problem. We even had to empty the thing 3 times it picked so much up. The suction is so great that sometimes the head clamps to the surface! Very quiet too, compared to our old one. We will miss the wrap around hose though, that was a genius design on the 08. But this new one has less of a footprint than the 08. Not tried all the tools yet,but so far very impressed. Seems well built and will hopefully last as long as our 08 did, pretty much 10 years. Like I said before, the bad reviews on here don't make much sense to me...

This is my first cylinder Dyson, having always opted for upright vacuums in the past. I had a few teething problems to start with, all my fault.. apparently you have the wand with the cleaning head at an angle from you and not almost upright as I had with my upright cleaners. So for the first two days I was stuck to the carpet being unable to push the cleaning head anywhere, but once I got the angle right I was amazed at the amount of debris my Dyson total clean collected. The attachments are all good to use, and the machine came with a little adapter that I could use my previously purchased Dyson tools with. The cylinder is easy to empty and again I am amazed at the amount collected with in.It is very user friendly (once you stop trying to use it like an upright Dyson) & cleans away dog hairs with ease.

I received this today after reading many reviews..the more I read the more I thought I shouldn't buy..Im glad u did I have a rug and stairs carpet that are terrible to vac but with this..the tools are brilliant! So I will give this vac 10/10 BUT! There is a major design flaw..when u lift the canister to empty the bottom easily opens and it lets out dirt what I've picked up all over the floor! However because I love this so much..I hold the base till I get to the bin..shouldn't have to do this dyson! But because everything else is 10/10 I will be keeping it. Wasn't sure about the 600w motor thought it would be rubbish on suction power.I was wrong I have to lessen the suction because it can be hard to push on some carpets.Given it 4 stars because of the BUT. Can't wait to get vacuuming tomorrow:)

I love Dysons.... And have had one since they first came out. Recently, my most recent one stopped working to its full potential and I have been going crazy trying to clean up kitz fluff and other sneaky floor stuff. So, finally, today, I bought myself a new one.Oh my gosh! How can James Dyson improve on the best? Well, he's only gone and done it again. The cylinder is so much more easy to empty and clean, I've been supplied with more tools than James Bond, it is so much lighter, quieter and the machine even rights itself! And..... My floors are fluff and stuff free once more!I must have become an adult and long last (I'm 53) getting soooo excited about a vacuum!! <3

I brought this hoover, this hoover is a beauty, the suction is so good that it almost pull my carpet on the stairs, also the attachment which has come with the hoover are very easy to used.i have used different hoovers in the past and most of the hoovers i send back within the cooling off period, but this hoover i am not having even a single reason to give it back.Only one thing i am worried is that, the dust bin is closed by a very tiny plastic clip which i thing is very thin and delicate and may break easily and if it breaks you will no be able to close the Hygienic bin.

I bought this as a replacement for the shark hoover which died on us after a few months and shark refused to help! We have five young children, a dog and a cat so our house needs hoovering often. It's great it's really good on hard floors as it doesn't blow the hair around. It's good on carpets and makes doing the stairs easy. Comes with useful attachments. I've found it easy to unblock if I've hoovered something a bit to big.I read the cable is to short but I've found it fine and no shorter than any of my previous Hoover's.

I have had this new machine for a month now and am most impressed. (I will be passing my older model on to my daughter now that she too has a dog). I particularly like the neatness of this latest version and the ease with which the dust collector clicks back into position on the machine after emptying - much better than the original design. The adjustable head is great and the suction is powerful. Terrifying to see how much dust and hair accumulates around the place with 3 dogs! This new version is less bulky for storage too.

This Dyson is very good, and if you've never had one before you'll be thrilled, however its not as good as my 15yr old Dyson which has just died on me. Due to the incredible suction it is harder to push around, on both carpet and tiled floor, on which the old Dyson would glide. You'll get fit! Its less easy to carry upstairs as the clip on which the long tube part goes on restricts you holding the handle - not a major problem. Also the 'on/off' button feels less strong. So easy to empty though!
