I decided to buy this Transcend brand based on a rave review it received on TopTenReviews.com for the JetFlash 700 series (rated as #1). In that review the only downside highlighted for the 700 series was the non-integrated cap -- losing a separate cap being a risk factor. As a next model to 700 series, this JetFlash 760 eliminates that downside with a capless design based on a slide-in/out mechanism, although it must be said this doesn't provide complete protection.Being a USB 3.0 device, the data transfer speed is very high as advertised: around 80MB/s sequential read; 17MB/s sequential write for a test data of 1000MB.I used CrystalDiskMark v3 as a test program and my results agree with values shown by another reviewer (dated 2013-09-16).I usually use such high capacity flash drives for storing operating system images (to restore OS image when required) and with ever growing applications and data sizes, in some instances a 16GB flash memory may not provide the capacity required for system installations using hefty applications such as Microsoft Visual Studio. I considered using Blu-ray disc (25GB capacity), but for a low-cost, a 32GB flash drive is a winner as it has no overheads/downsides such as need for optical drive, disc burning and storage space requirements associated with the disc media. I tested this flash drive with system restoration and the speed gain was significantly high in contrast to a 16GB USB 2.0 flash drive I have been using for quite some time. System restoration requires only read operation and the high read data transfer rate (as high as 80MB/s quoted for a sequential test) comes into play. In comparison, I could only achieve around 20 MB/s read transfer rate with a 16GB USB 2.0 flash drive! My only minor gripe with this flash drive has to do with its mechanical construction:- the physical size is too long which means its long protrusion is susceptible to [accidental] mechanical knocks that may cause mechanical stress (that can lead to bending or even breakage). I could already see this possibility when this flash drive is inserted to my laptop USB port to the side; now I feel I have to take extra care with this flash drive. In comparison, I had no worries with my HP 16GB flash drive which is almost one-third the length of this flash drive.- as another reviewer pointed out, the notch that holds the slide mechanism in place (which gets unlatched by pressing down with the thumb) feels less effective as it only requires a slight pressure to unlatch it. If the notch wears out through usage (which feels this is likely) it means the slide mechanism would fail to work as intended.- the slide mechanism doesn't provide protection to the device as sliding in still leaves the device exposed as compared to a cap that provides full protection, or a rotating cover like this one which is as good as a cap cover. It means extra care is needed to keep the device from external dirt/dust and small objects.- as another reviewer pointed out, the plastic body looks very cheap indeed although this is more of aesthetics than functional and may be overlooked. In summary, this is a high capacity, high data transfer rate (supported by USB 3.0) complemented by good price (at less than 50p per GB), only somewhat let down by its mechanical construction. If possible I would rate it at 4.75 stars but opting for a 4-star rating looks a bit harsh for this excellent value, very good performance, and high capacity flash drive.

Firstly, I'd like to express the fact that I'm an absolute gadget junkie, and I am an A level computing student and PC gamer, so I'm pretty tech savvy.Well, I bought this, because I needed a needed a new memory stick, having lost my old Kingston 8GB USB 2, and I recently bought a laptop too, so I thought I'd take advantage of my laptop's USB 3.0 port, and see the "speeds" first hand.Physically, it looks nice, but the gloss plastic finish is a magnet for dirt and fingerprints. The sliding mechanism feels a little flimsy as well, as there is not much of a definite "locking into place" part in the slide, which has caused it to go back in when I've tried to put it into the port, but that's not really a biggie.Everything else however, is fantastic.I was transferring large amounts of data, (notably games from my old PC to my new laptop) and the backwards compatibility really helps to show just how damn fast this thing is. First hand, USB 2 is writing to the drive at about 5-6 MB/s, and reading at about 8-9MB/s, which is about twice the speed of my old Kingston flash drive. However, when I plugged it into the laptop to transfer it over, I got an astounding read speed of about 50 MB/s! It took about 2 and a half minutes to transfer a 7GB game onto my laptop, which is astounding, seeing as it took about 30 minutes to put the game onto the stick from my USB 2 PC!The speed is no joke, and USB 3.0 is fast! For the money, I would 100% recommend this drive!

A USB flash drive that isn't built for your keychain. Get your mind past that and you've got yourself a usefully quick drive about the size of a packet of chewing gum.Not the last word in solid construction with the connector release button only needing a minimal press for the latch to disengage, (oddly enough the press down latch offers more of a resistance when trying to retract the connector than when preparing it for usage), but I guess it's not advertised as a robust drive.Otherwise it compares favourably on capacity and speed when judged against other similarly priced items, plus comes with the limited lifetime warranty. On the whole I have to say I'm impressed by the Transcend brand and the support software on offer. After plugging it into a Windows 7 laptop and formatting the drive, the drive couldn't be recognised later by a Windows XP machine. Thought I had rendered the drive useless after the reformat/partition experiment, but this is where Transcend's OnlineRecovery software made light work of putting things right. A couple of minutes later, the drive is identified online and default settings re-applied via the Transcend site.

I run USB sticks into the ground due to heavy usage, this USB stick is battered, dropped, chipped, and scratched.> Works great, No corruption issues / not detected / no loss of data . (remember flash storage decays faster than HDD's)> Blue LED (flashes on file write).> Sliding capless design is nice but does feel like the "click" lock could go due to repeat usage.(Your file transfer experience may vary from mine)> 27-30mb write on USB 3.0> 15-20mb write on USB 2.0 (drops to 17-19mb on heavy MKV files over 3-4GB)> Reading from USB 3.0 hits 33+mb> Reading from USB 2.0 20-27mbMuch faster than my Lexar 32gb USB 3.0 for file transfers on USB 2.0 and on USB 3.0.Bought it because of it's mid range price which means you get a decent speed for your money, unlike the cheaper sticks that barely mange to hit 10mb write speeds on larger files.

Ordered Sunday afternoon, delivered (with tracking from dispatch) Wednesday afternoon, well done!!As the title suggests I am very pleased with this product. I purchased this item to copy a recovery set for my new laptop, which is 21gigabyts in size. So, rather than use 5 discs and have to change disc each time one was written, I opted to use this flash drive and put the whole recovery set on one device.Total success, the whole process took about 15 minutes, for me that's pretty darn quick and I am sure that the usb 3.0 was a big facture.I`ve no idea how long the discs would have taken for the size of the copy but what I do know from previous experiences on copying images and backing up onto discs is,its pretty slow and long winded. And the added bonus is the flash drive is small, compact and scratch-proof!!Will be purchasing more.

This 760 model is one of the larger USB flash memory which I've come across; it is very long. On many laptops where USB ports are provided side-by-side, it is not possible to have this in place with another USB plug next to it, no matter if it's a USB cable or a memory flash, hence one star deducted. However, having had USB 3.0 which fails to be USB 3.0 after a few uses (and which defaults back down to USB 2.0), and since having watched Fake Britain which adviced Buyers Beware (of fakes) I tended to buy Transcend and Scandisk, and in standard packaging rather than "frustration-free packaging". This 760 is not the fastest flash I have used but it is reliable.

This is a great memory stick. It works far quicker than my Sandisk cruzer slice-16 gb. It did transfer speeds no less than 19 mb per second, and many times went over 21 mb per second. It is well built, but may seem flimsy but I have had it in my pocket for days and still fine. What else needs to be said? Well I don't have a usb 3 so I can't say about the performance anything in that respect, but certainly works well on usb 2. That is it, it works faster than any previous memory sticks I've had, good capacity and doesn't fall apart the first time you drop it or put it your pocket and forgot about it and looks good too. It's a good one!

I bought three of these as a quick way to store multiple OS images (to rebuild machines quickly) and also for general file transfer.Speed is as you would expect from USB3 and transfers very quickly. The price is excellent, the only downside is that they feel cheap and plasticy. So far they've been fine, but the seem very flimsy and don't really inspire confidence. But then again, they don't have any important data on them, and as a quick way of moving files around then it's an ideal and cheap way of doing it

Fantastic piece of kit and a fast drive, on a bench test its reading at 27mbps and writing at 19mbps at about half full capacity wise. My only gripe is its case, rattles around a bit. But none the less well worth the money. It would have been 5 stars if not fo the case, but don't let that put you off because its a value drive for its performance.

The cap-less design is a must for me, since I am prone to losing them. One slight nit-pick: the purple slide has insufficiently strong detents at the ends of its travel to prevent it from moving in or out when the slightest pressure is accidentally placed on that side of the stick. Performance is very good, however, and its price, competitive.

24.11.2016

I carried out a few tests last night, small files peaked at 139 MB per second and larger files averaged 50-70 MB per second overall this is an excellent USB3 device very fast and better than a lot of other USB3 drives. It is stated that it can achieve 80MB per second but I found it much faster in general use.

24.4.2014

It does just what it says, huge storage and very fast too. I use it for backups and I can get all my daily use data on this flash drive so I can take it off site with the GFS system where at least one copy is always off-site.

12.2.2014

Excellent product - I have been using the Transcend JetFlash 760's for a year now and find them really reliable and USB 3.0 is fantastic, no more clock watching while copying files

9.10.2016

It is a bit of a flimsy design - the slider in and out. It works though and is a decent enough product and if it breaks, well transcend are good at replacing products.

6.1.2013

Good value stick, no complaints at all. Not quite as robust as some other sticks due to the slide in and our connector. Deliver prmpt and exactly as expected.
