The delivery time was amazing: I ordered this one Thursday afternoon and it arrived the next morning.Having been badly burned here, and on eBay, in the past with fake memory I always run F3 or H2testw on any SD card or USB stick that I buy. It passed:Warning: Only 236832 of 236880 MByte tested.Test finished without errors. You can now delete the test files *.h2w or verify them again.Writing speed: 4.31 MByte/sReading speed: 31.3 MByte/sH2testw v1.4I have two observations:(1) if you are expecting a *sustained* write speed of 100 MB/s, or anything close to that, you are going to be very disappointed. I tried it in two different computers, under Linux and Windows 7 (ie four environments)and it doesn't matter how one formats the card, or tweaks the OS settings, repeated writes are s-l-o-w. I don't think it's a fault peculiar to this memory stick, it's more the limitations of the technology. With H2testw the reading speed is much more respectable.(2) 256 GB in a little USB stick like this is incredible. I can remember Winchester hard drives the size of shoe boxes which only had 10 MB capacity. And not that many years ago, either. This is truly a fascinating age in which to be alive. The bottom line is that I'd buy another without hesitation. Only 4 stars, however, simply because of the tediously slow writing speed.

* PhysicalThe shape of the thumb drive is pleasing to hold in your hand. Its an adequate size to handle in your hand.* PerformanceIf you're equipped with a computer that has USB 3.0 ports, the usual comparison is that USB 3.0 is 10 times the speed of the USB 2.0. This is in MAXIMUM speed differences. it's a faster performance i admit. I bought this to create a recovery drive with Windows 10. It's in reality on my third generation i7, it finished in the creation of this recovery drive in a third of the usual time with a USB 2.0 drive of same size. Note that the Sandisk 32 Gig drive is TOO small to work as a recovery drive, even though it says its 32 Gig on the packaging,so you are forced to get a 64 Gig version for this thumb drive to make this work. There is a software lock on this device to give some protection to your files if they are lost or stolen. Its optional and up to you if you apply this. It can be deleted if not required. I have seen others using this and it can nag you to enter your passwords when copying files from your computer to its drive.* PriceIts better than well known supermarkets for the same items.* SummaryThe performance is worth a little price increase.

I bought these to increase the storage space of my Acer R11 Chromebook to an overall 192GB (64gb x 3) split between Music, Videos and other data. So far no problems with the sticks, one thing to note regarding Durability, because I'm using them on a Chromebook (Linux) you Do Need to dismount the sticks first before you unplug or they might corrupt but you can unplug them anytime (as long as you are not reading or writing to the sticks at the time on PC (Possibly mac, I don't have a Mac to try that out on.)Although the sticks are advertised as 64gb you'll more likely get around 59gb give or take,it depends or how much the file system allows the stick to use but the sticks are already formatted so that shouldn't be much of an issue. These sticks use the USB 3.0 format but will work perfectly ok in an older USB 2.0 setup, the main difference is that USB 3.0 is roughly 10x faster on a newer system.(Hint: USB 3.0 are usually blue, USB 2.0 are usually black)These sticks arrived vacuum packed so be prepared to get the scissors out when you get them out of the packaging, as far as I know though that's pretty much the norm anyway.

While it costs roughly the same as an equivalently capacious USB 2.0 stick, it can be much faster.Read speeds are significantly faster than a USB 2.0 stick, which basically means copying stuff off of the stick onto your computer won't take long. Write speeds are average, but still faster than a USB 2.0 stick. This stick is great for use with Windows ReadyBoost on laptops and computers that only have a hard drive and not an SSD. If you have a laptop with a hard drive rather than an SSD and want to make it noticeably faster, you can use this memory stick as an effective performance boost - just follow these steps (you can still use your memory stick normally with this enabled):1)Plug in the memory stick and go to File Explorer -> This PC2) Right click your memory stick and go to Properties3) Go to the "ReadyBoost" tab and choose "Enable ReadyBoost" or "Dedicate this device to ReadyBoost"Once you've done them steps, a file will be put on your stick that's called readyboost cache or something - don't delete it! Your PC is now using the stick to improve your PC's performance when it's plugged in.

Owning quite a few usb mem sticks, I have come to know some of the good and bad points about them. These sandisk ones are quite reliable and apart from the odd glitch that a format has cured they have been trouble free. The one thing that seems to let most of them down, this sandisk included is the design. This is of the slider type which is ok, but unfortunately the case is very thin plastic and if like me you keep it on a key ring, it won’t be there for long because I expect the plastic where you can use for a key ring will either crack or snap off. A bit of a disappointment really as I expected better. These 32gb ones come with the normal sandisk security program that works but it can be a nuisance.Running in a USB 3 port makes it faster file transfer and it will also work on a USB 2 port but not as fast. No the best for keeping in your pocket as there is nothing to stop fluff getting into the interface which will stop it from working. A cheap throw away item that with care will last and store files reliably. Better designs are available, but you will pay more.

Further to previously purchasing a 64gb stick for system recovery purposes, I later figured that Windows automatically formats the drive to FAT32, which only allows partitions of 32gb meaning the remaining capacity is redundant. That is one of the main reasons why I chose to purchase this 32gb USB stick. I also wanted a minimum 3.0 speed and liked it's ability to retract the USB connector head back into its main body, which in my opinion keeps it well protected from any bumps and knocks (shame it's not water proof). There is also an LED light that flashes to help indicate when the device is in use.I performed a quick test to ensure that the USB stick is functional by transferring some files across and it processed quickly and as expected. There is the SanDisk Vault software built in that enables its users to password protect certain files, which works well, but wasn't necessary for me since I am using this stick for recovery purposes. In a nut shell this has so far lived up to its description and performs well. I'm very happy with my purchase.

I am the type of guy who researches new purchases extensively before settling on something because I always aim to get value for money. I bought this flash drive specifically for storing a copy of the latest Apple OS- Catalina so that I could reset and re- load it onto my latest MacBook Pro. I needed a flash drive that had at least 8GB storage.I chose this one not only because of the good reviews, but also because it seemed like very good value for money.Compared to other flash drives on Amazon, this one was the cheapest for the amount of GB storage available. It was also USB 3.0 which my MacBook Pro uses. The USB was easy to format and I transferred the files quickly. The name SanDisk is alsoa brand that I have used in the past and has been reliable for me.I would definitely recommend this USB flash drive over any others on Amazon for the above reasons.Although SanDisk is a trusted brand, it is always wise to e-mail SanDisk for the 1yr warranty. Please rate this review as ‘helpful’ ??

Just opened it and there is 232 GB space (not 256 GB as advertised). Still a huge amount.Inserted into the blue USB slot, it copied 11,967 items (worth 38 GB) from my 8-yr-old laptop onto the memory pen in 1 hour 31 minutes. Idk if this is really bad or reasonable, or if my old laptop is to blame. But it was a one-off big transfer so I'm not too upset. It does flash blue during file transfer and when browsing files. I'm glad about that, as a reviewer from 2018 said counterfeits don't light up.It quickly got a bit warm to the touch during the file transfer (not boiling hot tho). And now plugged into my new laptop for just browsing the files, the memory pen feels cool again, maybe a teeensy bit of heat.It has a security feature where you can drag your files into a password-protected bit if you want to use that.I spent ages researching which memory pen I should get lol. And I'm happy enough that I went with this one. But maybe I should have paid more for a 400 MB/s speed.

This usb flash drive is quite good, so good I bought another for my partner. I bought this mainly to act as a back up/time machine for a MacBook air and it works perfectly. It has large amount of storage for it’s size and decent transfer speed because it is USB 3.0. The USB stick has a nice small form factor making it very portable and its design with keyring loop and retractable head makes it more convenient to carry around with you.The USB stick may be small but it has a good quality build, it appears well made. It is fairly strong and sturdy when you plug it into you device, but it does stick out and can be an issue when using with a device like a laptop. This is something you need to be aware of,however this is an issue with all USB sticks that have a similar form factor. All round this is a good usb flash drive made by a reputable brand and the price makes it good value for money, I highly recommend it. Hope this helps.

I have purchased five of these in total as backup of our laptops and to load films on to view on our smart TV and our laptops whilst we are on holiday. They are not the fastest USB sticks but they are quick especially for the price. I am not into the fastest, latest or most expensive tech going, so I went for an good make and an reasonably priced USB stick. They both perform very well as a storage device for holding a few old movies to watch at home or whilst away on holiday.Don't worry about the negative reviews you read here, they are from people who are used to high end USB sticks and or have lost valuable data. One thing I would always advise after my wife and daughter bothloat data, dont ust trust one device to save all of your valuable information, anything can fail, so back up in at least two places. If this review is useful to you, please let me know by giving me a helpful vote - thanks Steve

I was in need of a new USB stick as my other one had seen better days and I was worried about it corrupting and losing all of my files and photos! After looking around online I came across this one, being a mainstream brand I was surprised it didn't have a hefty price tag like some do! It's extremely good value for money, I paid maybe double for my old one which had less storage! It's a very sleek design and fits nicely on my keyrings, I like that the USB itself retracts into the body to protect is as I always lose one's with a removable cover! The speed of it also is fantastic, I couldn't believe how quickly 80gb of files transferred over,I'd of been waiting hours with my old stick. This is a superb stick for anyone who needs a good quality reliable memory stick without the price tag! Great value for money and I'm super pleased with this purchase!!

Working in IT systems support it's very useful to have a single USB stick that I can keep all my deployment images, bootable rescue images, application installers etc. on, and still have plenty room left over for occasional data transfers.Crystaldiskmark results: Seq read 123MB/s write 28MB/s, Random read 4.6MB/s avg. Write 0.8MB/s avg.Significantly slower than my Corsair VEGA 64GB USB3 drive but not the end of the world. The SanDisk is marginally faster for random writes; iirc I think that's be down to the higher capacity.Noticed other people complaining that the clip isn't strong enough to hold the connector out when inserting; they're just using it wrong. The clip isn't supposed to do the holding. The case is designed so that your index finger holds the mechanism forward while inserting. No issues there at all.

Its a shame the main review being shown for this product is out of date. These are actually really handy usb flash drives with a usb tip that tucks away into the body when not in use by way of a flip catch in the main body. You can get smaller flash drives but they can be a bit fiddly, I find this a nice size for everyday use and travel. The most helpful review currently being shown complains of slow write speeds of around 7-8 mbs. I have a 64 gig drive and get reads of 127 mb/s and writes of 45.8, so nor problem with writes at all. 4k is fine too at 5mb/s and 3 mb/s. In real world use its fine for most needs. Small point but if like me you have loads of flash drives laying around and cant remember what capacity they are without firing them up,these drives have the capacity written on the back, not all drives do this.

Initially i was a little cautious when i read a few other reviews saying that the speed was "slow" and "dreadful". As previously i bought Kingston TravelData SE9 3.0 with the intention of trying out Remix OS and that wasn't fast enough to support it on thumbdrive, with only an average write speed of 15mpbs. (The recommended write speed was 20mbps)I was afraid that this might be of the same case, especially since SanDisk never volunteer their info regarding the write speed for this flash drive. But I've decided to take the gamble and give it a try for SanDisk Ultra anyway. I've never bought a SanDisk product before, but i was reallly surprised and pleased with the speed i got from this flash drive!I'll just attach 2 pictures of the two different tools i've used to measure the speed and you can decide on it yourself.

I don't find these sandisk usb sticks too bad for the price, they seem to have excellent read speeds and reasonable write speeds. However over the last 6 months I've purchased 5 of the 16gb sticks all at different points in time, all direct from Amazon, no third party sellers. All of them have the same model number SDCZ48-016G but some are made in Malaysia and some in China and there is a difference. When I ran a benchmark using CrystalDiskMark I found the read speeds for sequential reads were about the same only a few mb/s difference, but for the write speeds the one made in Malaysia benchmarked at 30mb/s whereas the one made in China only reached 14 mb/s.I guess Sandisk get away with this byonly stating the read speeds and not having to state a write speed or just state that write speeds are untested.
