In these days of vast networks, cloud storage, bluetooth and the like it would be possible to argue that memory stick type storage is less relevant than it was a few years ago. However if you look at the cost of anything other than free storage plans, use of bandwidth and security then there will be a role for these for some time to come I think given the cost effectiveness and the security of them. In general they are very reliable and my usual memory stick, used for some years now, is a Sandisk (Cruzer Blade) and I use other Sandisk memory products too so I have no qualms over the quality of this company's products. It seems a little strange that the USB is v2 given that v3 is the incoming standard - I do know that v3 devices work with both Android and Windows so that isn't the issue but I doubt that will be material to most people. The actual product is neat with the USB connectors taking up the majority of the size of the whole device. There is an odd "ring" like channel on the top of the device which might allow it to be put on a key ring I guess. In action it has transferred files to and fro on my PC and netbook (Windows) and my Samsung and Lenovo tablets (Android). Sadly my smartphone is playing up at present and crashes when anything is plugged in the micro USB socket but I'll update this when I get it working again. Either way the data transfers have been done with any extra equipment such as an OTG cable which I've needed to access the Android devices before so that is a real plus and would save some money if you haven't got one of these. There are covers over the connectors which are simply slipped back to use either.A big plus to me is there is a Sandisk app (for Android on playstore - Memory Zone) which includes the ability to backup to one of these sticks or cloud storage for example. This app worked just fine on both tablets. Taking all the factors into account I think this is an excellent storage device for anyone who has multiple devices, sockets, operating systems (apparently supports Macs too). I'll update this if anything further crops up during my ongoing use of this.**Updated after using for a few monthsWorks fine with my new phone (the old one had a few more troubles than I realised!) which is a Moto G so the flexibility of the device is fine. In practice the Sandisk app referred to is as good at draining batteries as anything else and is quite slow to index the contents of a device - not terrible but not wonderful. Anyway the device is still used frequently and has caused no problems. My only qualm with this device now is that it looks a bit pricey compared with some of the competition - the Kingston equivalents which I'm finding rather more robust and cheaper for example making this device 4.5 star maybe.

When I want to transfer files from my Smartphone to my laptop, I tend to either use the sync cable which came with it, or I simply email them to myself or use a cloud based storage service like Dropbox. Now I have this Sandisk Dual USB Drive I have another option. This dinky device is very well designed, I initially thought this had covers for both the plug ends which would inevitably be lost (all my little cap-ends for memory ticks have been lost!) but instead these ones retract into the reader itself. It’s a nifty little feature. Once you connect this to your Smartphone you can use whichever file explorer software you want to copy files from the phone to the reader. My phone did recognise the reader, but not all will apparently – in that case you need to download an app. What should happen is, you plug this in and then file explorer software on your phone should automatically launch and detect the device – however different phones have different file explorer software, and some don’t really have any. The Sandisk website recommends you download and install their own Memory Zone App if this is the case. The be fair – the Memory Zone app is actually pretty good and more user friendly than the ones I have used in the past.At 32GB (and a 64GB version is available), this should be adequate for moving photos/videos from your phone to free up space. These can then be transferred onto your PC/Laptop or onto any other Smartphone tablet. Well, onto another smartphone/tablet which is compatible with this reader and has a Micro-USB port – which should cover most. As well as a micro-USB plug, this also has a standard USB plug which means that it should plug into any laptop or other-such-device.In a nutshell: This is the sort of thing which is ideal for those who need something like this – especially seeing as many high end phones are sealed with no expandable memory slot. However, I suspect that for most folk it’s just as easy to use something like Dropbox or a Micro-USB cable and just drag and drop stuff as and when required. So far I’ve mainly used mine as I would any memory stick, but it is nice to have the ability to transfer stuff onto/from my phone when out and about. Actually – my main use for this is to play movies on my phone as I now don’t have to use up precious phone memory as I can store them externally.

There seems to be no end of variations that keep appearing for the ubiquitous USB stick. The latest I've come across is the Ultra Dual USB drive from Sandisk. The novelty with this storage device is the addition of a second plug, a micro-USB plug, at the opposite end of the drive to the Standard USB plug. This allows the drive to be plugged into a variety of mobile devices e.g. phones and tablets, to enable data to be transferred. This has the advantage of being able to swap data onto your mobile device without the need of a host computer or connection to the internet via wi-fi or data link. The drive is physically quite small as can be seen from the picture and sliding plastic sleeves protect the plugs at each end of the stick. My drive had a capacity of 32Gb but other capacities are available. You use it like any other USB stick, plug it in to your computer and away you go.If you go to the Sandisk web site there is a list of all the mobile devices that the Dual drive can interface with and it would seem that most of the Samsung mobile devices are compatible. If you have a need to carry additional data with you for your mobile device I would highly recommend giving this unit a go.

Seriously small – 32 gig on a device only 3.5 cm (less than 1.5 inches) long, and more than half of that is used just by the connectors. This is an ideal size for laptops and tablets because the longer size of drive is cumbersome and can easily be knocked in use.Great news: I can use this directly into my Nexus tablet without the need for an On The Go (OTG) cable. Should fit any similar tablet, bearing in mind that I need an App to read/transfer the contents.Speed examples for transfer from a PC to the stick via a 2m extension cable: write to stick 60 Mb of image files in 10 seconds, 805 Mb of music files in 1 min 40 secs.As with similar devices, the memory is available to each connector.Integral sliders cover the outside of the connectors but do not seal over the ends. This may not be a problem, as I would hesitate to keep it loose in my pocket, because it is small enough to lose easily. It has a very small channel in the plastic case to attach to a key ring but so far I have not found anything small enough to fit through it.A natty little drive with enough capacity to hold my backups and connect direct to the tablet.

A flash drive such as this "SanDisk SDDD-032G-G46 32 GB Ultra Dual" drive offers a method of moving all nature of files around with you, or a quick and simple method of transferring data between computers. What sets this flash drive apart from the many, many others on the market is the addition of a micro-USB on one side of the drive. In terms of physical size it is very compact and has almost no weight, a very easy drive to carry around with. It also offers 32Gb of memory which is towards the large side of typical storage offered by removable media devices. Don't let its small size deceive you as when it comes to performance the transfer speeds are pretty quick. It's not all good however. The small plastic and slideable cover is a pain and rather awkward moving by itself and generally getting in the way when you're trying to plug it in. In one aspect the dual sided slider is a nifty little feature - but it's not quite there yet (it doesn't lock well, but if this could be fixed it would make a good flash drive such as this great.)

This is a great little concept and SanDisk have succeeded in creating a 32GB device with dual functionality. Doubling up as both a standard USB drive and one that is compatible with your smart phone, this is sure to come in handy for those who rely heavily on their phone - a number that is bound to increase as our phones become smarter and us more reliant upon them!I must admit that I have tended to mostly use this as a standard USB drive but then I am more computer based than phone based. The dual functionality is, however, a great bonus which is sure to come in handy with my new phone. The one problem I have found so far is that the protective sliding caplets (the ends remain open and not totally covered)slide back too easily meaning you may as well be storing this in your pocket/bag without any protective covering at all. That being said, I own other usb drives that have no covers at all so at least this has something that affords some form of protection even if it isn't perfect.

Original:It's a small, neat, versatile memory stick, OK? And then what ? Don't most smartphones connect easily to your computer in any case? Aren't micro memory cards the neatest, least visible solution to increase storage, or data transfer come to that? Isn't there dedicated software for every smartphone so that you can control it from your computer? When they were sitting round and brainstorming new products I bet this sounded like a crazily brilliant idea but in practice not that many people are going to find it so essential that they must have it in preference to other technologies for data handling or cheaper methods of storage. So, it's great if you need it and interesting if you don't really need it.And that's that. I felt it was rather loveable, so I'd like to find an excuse for carry it around with me, but it's so small I'll probably lose it.Revision:Shame on me! Now that I have a tablet I use this all the time. Marvellous little gadget for file transfer.

Facing the old problem of moving data whether big or small between your Android mobile phone and tablet or other IT storage (tablet or laptop)? Then this small little and very effective item is probably just what you need. With storage of 32GB and at a price of under £20, it works very simply and quickly from the packing. After downloading and installation of the relevant free app (SanDisk Memory Zone) onto your Android mobile phone or tablet, you just simply plug in. The drive is quickly recognised and moving or copying of photos, music or data in easily effected. Plug the drive into your recipient device of PC or Mac computer (it has both micro USB or standard USB connectors at either end of drive with sliding protector dust covers)and transfer can be quickly completed or done in reverse. The small palm size means you will probably need to store it carefully (it does not come with a lanyard or key ring attachment) but it is certainly an efficient piece of kit!

This is a great little USB drive, well-made and attractively priced for the level of storage on offer. The first thing that struck me is the size, it really is tiny. Almost too small, I imagine this memory stick could be easily lost as a result. At one end is a standard USB connector and at the other a micro USB version. This makes connecting the device to a smartphone or tablet a breeze, I have an iPhone so obviously no luck there, but I have plugged the stick into my Nexus 7 tablet and it worked fine. It's pretty quick too, with transfer times from my PC being as good as any other USB drive I've used, if not better. The speed is a big plus point,as cloud storage is all well and good but I often have large volumes of photos or video to move around and uploading and downloading is just not quick or convenient enough. There is still a market for portable memory, and Sandisk have really cracked it with this drive covering both sizes of USB. Highly recommended.

Well, just received this today and my Linux Laptop wouldn't pick it up.... Strange I thought.Well it turns out it was formatted to an unknown format for my linux laptop. Yes it can read all known formats, so I've no idea what it was originally. I've since reformatted it and it's working perfectly, get about 59GB in total which is good. The product is actually tiny! Way smaller than I thought, not that I looked at dimentions. Also the cap that holds the USB doesn't stay shut, it hasn't got a click like the miniUSB side does. Bit annoying but apart from that it does what it's suppose to do, now just need to find something safe to stick it to.

Ultra-compact (it's really diddy!) and ultra-handy, this has come in really useful as a go-between across my Samsung tablet and laptop. With a decent capacity, I'm able to transfer whole rafts of files across without worrying about cloud storage space left or an internet connection - particularly handy, as I'm always loading up PDF documents for study on the go, often without an internet connection.Decent construction, reliable operation (as you'd expect from SanDisk) - there's little to say about such a functional device, other than that it fulfils a need and works a treat for me.

I copied my music onto the stick and windows 7 read it fine. But when I moved the stick to my players none could access the content. That's because it has the exfat file system as default. Tried to reformat it in windows to Fat32 but wouldn't work. So had to use a third party software. There are many but I used the free miniaide format program.http://www.fat-32-formatter.com/miniaide-fat32-formatter-home.htmlIt worked and then I recopied my music onto the stick. All good after that.

I bought this because I was fed up of hunting for my OTG lead. It's okay - I trust SanDisk, though in this case the design leaves something to be desired as the sliding covers, that protect the USB and Android plugs, don't stay in place terribly well. In fact I'm not convinced that the small plug that goes into the android will last long without a decent protective cover.Still, this dual drive is marginally better than having a USB stick and an OTG lead.

I have the 16GB model of this stick, which in the year I've had it. I can say I've had no problems, which has led to me purchasing the model which is four times the capacity, as you can never go wrong with SanDisk. With the exception of one, all my SD cards are SanDisk. Because you know that whether you purchase an SD cards, or a USB device, you can never go wrong with SanDisk as a company. Which is why I'm a repeated customer to their products.

What a perfect device! I use this for everything between, laptop, computer and phone (Samsung Note 4). The micro USB is brilliant and the storage is very large for such a small device.Only issue I would really note is the way you store it. There is a small hole on the side but nothing that is significant and although I like the compact nature of this wrap around holder would just keep this safe. It is small and can be lost easily otherwise!
