I picked up one of these to replace a failed transcend 8Gb USB stick (first USB stick I have had fail on me)Build is ok it's as expected at the price, plastic but the mechanism seems decently made it should last during normal use. If you're on a building site I'd look at more chunky offerings like the Fuji "rubber" USB sticks of the metal bodied ones. There is no software on the device but you can download it if you wish (I usually don't bother though)Retail pack is eco friendly ie mostly card.Speed, quite good really for a USB 2.0 device and faster than the normal standard Transcend I had.Write speeds are around 7.5-9 Mb a second and read speeds are around 25-30 Mb/s,that's a bit above average from using other normal non premium alternatives, the transcend was just above 5 Mb/s so it's a decent step up. For speed demons you might prefer a USB 3 device (I have one myself) though even USB 2.0 can run a bit quicker at times on a USB 3.0 port. It's not the most robust USB pen drive I've used plastics could be better (bit lightweight), but after a good year or so of use it's not caused any problemsFor the price recommended and a decent choice at the budget end of these products.

When I found out that OTG flash drives were a thing, I had to have one. When it comes to memory, I hold SONY in high regard -due to the quality of their gaming memory cards back in my days of PlayStaion and PlayStation 2. Pricy, but the build qualities are usually fantastic. My gripes are that it isn't USB 3.0 (yet), and while the cap design is really cool the part that keeps the cap attached pushes against my device that if the device port wasn't so snug I'd worry it would force the one side out enough to cause the connection to break.Additionally, when I plug it into my android device, the device goes into charging external device mode and the unit generates a fair amount of operating heat due to this,so I'm not temped to leave it in my device as others have suggested (eats battery, generates heat).Had I expected such, I would have gotten only the 8 GB unit.Still, it works, one of the few OTG flash providing a point to hook a lanyard to, good build quality, and does what it is supposed to -make it easy to transfer files between devices.

I thought this was a really neat device that I could use to transfer files between my Samsung Galaxy Player and my computers. Well, it works just fine in Windows and Linux computers with the USB plug. Unfortunately it only fits into the micro USB slot in my SGP5 but the software won't mount it and Google Play won't let me download the Sony software. The reason is that my SGP5 runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The back of the package says it needs Android 4.0.3+. So, I'll keep it for another Android device that I may get in the future.EDIT:I finally got a new Android device with Android KitKat and this drive worked perfectly with no additional app except a good file browser to browse to /storage/usbdrive.I now have the first 2013 Moto G. Motorola only gave me 5 GB of storage (not including the space for Android) but it comes with OTG enabled so the micro SD charging slot is also a space for a micro USB flash drive.

This is a nice, small drive with two ends. One fits a standard USB port and the other is micro USB. So you can load music, videos, or files from your computer and then transfer them to your tablet or smartphone -- IF it has micro USB. Why you couldn't do this with your tablet or smartphone's included cable is a mystery, but there it is.Anyway, it has a small green light that indicates when it's plugged in and transferring files, and it's small. The one issue I had is that it came with no instructions. None. Not even a little picture. Ikea does better than this! The cap twists and then comes off. I won't tell you how long I fought with it (nearly breaking it) before I figured that out. After that though, it works like a charm. But for the love of Pete, Sony, a little illustration or paper insert would have given you 5 stars!

I got this flash drive to transfer photos and video between my phones, tablets, and laptop. All of my Android devices, except one, have instantly recognized the flash drive and opened the "My Files" app to transfer files. The one device that it didn't work on was a prepay phone I use for developing apps on which doesn't support USB hosting.I have placed videos on the drive and I've been able to play the entire 20 minute videos without any noticable delays. All of my phones have cases, one being a three part silicone / plastic case that creates a large gap under the usb port. The drive fit, but the plastic piece that holds the cap on did cause it to angle a bit. It still worked. The drive worked perfectly,as expected, with my Linux computers.

This thing is exactly what most of us have been waiting for. It's small, stylish, and incredibly convenient. I haven't experienced any lag when streaming movies from it. There is an LED light to indicate use but honestly, I may try to cover it up. It isn't nearly as bright as so many other usb's, but it can still be annoying to me in the dark. Also, when you plug in the micro usb end, it may be slightly crooked due to the cap and attachment, but it still stays in (I remedied this buy cutting off the attachment from device-to-cap. Call me crazy, but I prefer it this way.) Overall, an excellent product and well worth the 5 stars. This is confirmed working on my Nexus 7 2013 with Kitkat.I might spring for a 64GB one (if the price comes down).

This flash drive is a dream come true. My phone never would mount up to the computer to transfer pictures, and I hated having to take it apart to get to the micro SD card and then wrangle with an adapter. I'd wind up emailing myself pictures, which was equally painful. I wasn't sure if this device would work in my phone, but it was worth the price to try.The flash drive is a standard micro USB which plugs right in where my charging cord would fit. I can copy or move files to the drive, and then I can plug the USB end into my laptop. Fabulous! My only complaint is that it is so tiny that I lost the first one I bought. Throw a lanyard in your cart to hook onto it!

I purchased this for someone who wants her USB drive to look smart and carry a good brand! Although I would choose a better priced and less well known brand for myself, I have to agree about the quality finish of the Sony and also agree that it looks much more presentable than others. In terms of capacity, speed and reliability, I haven't tested it in detail because it isn't mine. I would say that it is faster than my own Kingston USB drives, although they are a little older, and so far there have been no reports of reliability problems. PC and laptop detect and eject it without any complaints, otherwise I would have been shouted at by now!!

I'm always losing these things and I took advantage of a lightning deal to buy this. It's pretty fast, picked up right away and recognised as a branded USB stick. Only issue I had was I wanted to use it as a installation device for Windows 10. The latest version of Microsoft's installer (to create bootable USB installation media) refused to acknowledge that the USB stick even existed. This issue is not limited to this particular Sony stick, and seems to be more of a Microsoft issue than anything else. Rolling back to an older version of the Microsoft installer fixed the problem.

The Sony USB is the best USB I have used. It works with every computer and laptop no matter whether its Windows or Mac. I has never had a virus on it. Neither has it got viruses or completely wiped all data off after unplugging it without ejecting it first which seems to happen alot with SanDisk ones. The colour makes it easy to find and although it made out of plastic it's very durable. It hasn't cracked in the caseing or the cover for the USB which is really good as all previous USBs I have used cracked after a while. Overall this product is very good and reliable.

This is one of my most-used flash drives to date. I've found some dilemmas with my current cloud storage capabilities, primarily revolving around keeping a particular spreadsheet file up-to-date, but with the right PC software and smartphone app, I can finally safeguard my files and have access to them on the go. Plus, popping the cap off to show my friends the micro USB plug underneath is fun. Yeah, I'm a geek.FYI, the drive does seem to run a bit hot in my phone (Galaxy S5), but hasn't seemed to cause any problems. Drains phone battery a little faster as well.

I bought this flash drive as a backup for all of my pictures and videos. I love the pink color and that it is small enough to toss in my backpack or purse when traveling. The lid comes off and fits on the opposite end, that way it won't be lost. So far, I like the flash drive, but I do think it is a little slow. I transferred about 300 pictures from my laptop to the flash drive and it took a lot longer than it should have for a 3.1 USB. I think the speed is comparable to a 2.0 USB. Other than that, it's a decent flash drive with good storage for the price.

I've been flashing my Android devices for some time now, and always grumble a bit when they don't have micro SD slots.Well, I grumble no more. While this isn't the fastest device I've ever used, it definitely doesn't seem slow when I'm using it to flash a ROM. And because it's 32 gigs, I've got all the space I need to keep a few repositories for all of my devices.Really, the only thing I'd change is the slot on the cap. It's too small for a keyring, so I keep mine on a zip tie. No big deal, but I'd think Sony would have had a more graceful option.

Nice design. You have to twist counter-clockwise 1/8 of a turn to unlock the cap to expose the microUSB plug. Don't worry about losing the cap, it has a thick, yet flexible enough, flat plastic rod connecting the body to the cap. The cap is thick and not flimsy at all. From the standard USB plug to the body with the Sony logo is a single solid metal metal construction, with dark brown thin varnish. Transfer speed as expected for a USB 2.0 flash drive; somehow, it feels a bit faster the the standard Sandisk USB 2.0 flash drive I have.
