PROS1. Very cheap. 16 GB may be the sweet spot right now when price and size are considered;2. Comparatively sturdy;3. The back side has two holes to put a lanyard through for easy carrying (Picture 4).CONS1. Some of the slowest write/read speeds that I have seen in a USB thumb drive;2. The sliding design feels awkward. The cap is difficult to push, but will move uncomfortably when you least need it to;3. The black surface of the drive is a dust-magnet.CONCLUSIONI don’t usually buy slow USB sticks, as I hate having to wait for a big file to transfer at a crawling speed. But Kingston 16GB DataTraveler 100 G3 is so cheap that it is difficult to fault.I bought two of these: the first I use as a Windows installation USB drive (very handy to have in case your laptop’s OS needs to be reinstalled from scratch while on the go) and the second one – for a USB version of AOMEI Backupper (partition imaging software). In both cases, I do not need the drive the be bigger than 16 GB or lightning fast, just reliable. For these purposes, Kingston 16GB DataTraveler 100 G3 is ideal.

I purchased this just recently with the intent to get a bit more space since my old memory stick is approximately 4GB maximum space. When I received the item, it was nicely and securely packaged like a drive like this should be, easy to open and didn't require frustration-free packaging at all.My first impressions that it was a decent build drive which unfortunately doesn't have a cap or anything to protect the metallic end, which also a small edge still pops out when it's closed (isn't shown on the pictures).I did however like that it was easy and portable like a drive should be, data transfers in my laptop weren't crazy quick, even when applied to my USB 3.0 port.Although it's good if you want to store stuff on it that you can't quite take on a smaller memory stick. All in all, I believe it has 1-2 things that could be improved such as protecting the end of the stick and the design could be made slightly differently. However, I would recommend this drive to a friend if they were looking for a cheap, somewhat high capacity drive. 4/5, thanks!

Genuine Kingston are the best. eBay has many unscruplous sellers with inferior products, only purchase a genuine Kingston pen stick and you won't regret it. How do you know that's it's genuine, this particular one has a blue interior and is visible from the usb connector, if it's grey or black, then it's not a Kingston, even if the packaging says t is and this is confirmed by Kingston themeselves. Another important point to note is the transfer speed with a non genuine Kingston is very much lower and slower, also the cheaper inferior pen drives never really last and will unfortunately at some point fail on you and you could therefore potentially loose all your stored data.I have had several Kingston and some are years old that are still used and the data is still accessible. Hope this helps, they might cost a little more, but I have found through experience that they are worth it.Read full review...

I've read a lot of reviews hammering ? the speed of this drive however I've no issues with read / write speeds, for my needs. It's not the quickest drive, but for £3.38 per 32GB stick I'm cool with them x3 (cheaper than 3pack) ?I've enabled my pc correctly you should also enable yours for better performance from this drive. On the second tab on policies in device manager, select "better performance" hit ok restart pc (you can also enable write caching in this tab, at your own desertion but if your out of power you could lose data) and also FAT32 is so old but its the default format, of this usb drive so I recommend that you use NTFS, simply right quick on drive in explorer and select format.I hope this advice helpsRegards J.Herer. ✌️Note when you select better performance in device manager, you now must right click and select remove / eject Drive to avoid losing data.

Not much to say: typical build quality from kingston (which I think is excellent). It feals rugged. I haven't got the loose cap issue some of the reviewers here have. I'm getting about 75Mb/sec write speed which for the 64Gb capacity is not a problem (that's around 4.5Gb/min anything very large goes to my external USB3 drive). It's also cheap... cheap enough to swart any attempt at creating an external SSD DIY kit. However if you want anything faster than the 75Mb/sec write speed, here's how:1) Cheap SSD such as BX1002) Sata to USB3 adaptor (Startech is a good one to consider)Update: 2 months down the line annnnnndd you guess it: I lost the blimming thing!Yes yes my fault however I'll just add that it'd be nice if there was a little ring/hook like Kingston do for their other drives. I won't take off a star; just be aware of its design limitation and be cautious!

Just got mines delivered today. This is a great little stick for storage and iv tested it out the speeds are fine. A 72mb file went in 5secs so its fine for general storage. Larger files in GBs will take time on any stick so this is fine if your not in a hurry. Faster speeds means more cost so i dont know why these negative reviewers are writing all that shit about it being too slow. I believe they are fake reviews. What do people want for £4. This stick is fine for that price. Another point to take in is - if you try to store a file on it right away you will get the message couldnt write cos files too large or words to that effect. This is because it comes in the Fat format. Before you use it find it in -This PC - or wherever and right click the drive and scroll down and select format. Select NTFS and ok and it will format the stick ready to use.

Good little USB stick. After disappointment with a SanDisk equivalent I bought this 64GB Kingston to replace it; there's always a risk in this day and age as the technology for higher capacity data storage in smaller products is still in its early stages. Still this one works exactly as you'd hope. It reads and writes up to 62GB (we all know the sitch here); I've already filled it to near-capacity.with no problems with speed or otherwise. I've rated it 4 out of 5 stars as my one criticism is that the "sliding protection" feature doesn't protect the USB contact itself when closed; there is still an opening for dust to get in. Still it seems pretty sturdy nonetheless (I will of course update this if this ceases to be the case)and I don't believe the dust thing is a major issue for most USB drives so I'm happy with my purchase.

This is very good value usb storage, I have 32gb and 16gb sticks. Performance on USB2.0 is ~25/12 MB/s sequential read write, and on USB3.0 ~102/22 MB/s, so actually a bit above specification. Random reads/and writes are a lot slower, but not so bad as some people have reported (if using Crystal DiskMark use a sample size of 100MiB, not 1GB, for accurate real-life day to day performance). This stick is certainly faster than all the older USB2.0 sticks I own, but is about mid-range for a USB3.0 stick (the G4 data traveller range is reported to be faster). So if you're not copying masses of files every day then this is ideal for longterm backup storage,an OS install disk or running a LIve OS like Ubuntu.

Although there a lot of fakes, I have tested the one from this supplier, it passed the H2TESTW test and seemed more than ok for a cheaper 64gb USB drive.Good write speeds if you want to use it in a USB 2.0 slot. I haven't tried it in a USB 3.0 yet.Tested speeds with H2TESTW using USB 2.0 were : Write 20.6 and Read 31.8. Using USB 2.0 it is MUCH faster than the SanDisk SDCZ33-032G-B35 32 GB Cruzer USB 2.0 32gb, a very tiny drive. The Sandisk writes at 7.35mb using the same test. The Sandisk averages out at 5mb on a sustained write.I think that is excellent value. I did read that USB 3.0 sticks often perform very well in USB 2.0 slots, that seems to be the case for me.Recommended.

Took this for both Windows and Linux us and was immediately impressed with it, I like the DataTraveler already, but this slide out version was that little bit more durable for me and with the sliding body I could protect the tip without the potential to lose any caps (a common problem).Speed, was excellent on USB3.0 I ran a live 60GB VM from this stick without an issue for speed (though it didn't do a huge amount of IO to be fair).Carrying files in general, this is a goto-unit for me now, and the size was very good still wish they'd advertise the actual storage capacity rather than the post formatted capacity, but still we're in the 100GB+ size now for less than £30... excellent.

I wanted to update my OS sticks with USB3 versions and these were among the cheapest (16GB). Previously got a 8GB version which has worked well so far. They are not small/thin drives and quite chunky but then unlikely to lose them. I also like the sliding mechanism which protects the USB connector.Read performance ~120MB/s, Write ~8MB/s. Definitely not a drive for storing documents you're working on every day - but for something you will write once/few times - and mainly read it will do great for upgrading to USB3. Older USB2 drives may write faster but are limited to 20-24M/s read.Overall for my usage they will do great - if you want higher write look elsewhere.

I bought the Kingston DT100G3/64GB DataTraveler as it was cheap and high capacity. I did read most of the reviews of the product beforehand in regards to the reported slow speeds. i can confirm its not the fastest usb 3.0 but at this price point i certainly didn't expect it to be. I would say Kingston have a great product here as it delivers high read speeds of 124MB/s (officially the max read speed should only be 100MB/s on this unit) and performs averagely in write speeds at a rate of 28MB/s which is more comparable to usb 2.0 write speeds. If you have a little patience when transferring files I'd urge you to consider this USB Pen.

Very pleased with my Kingston data traveller. First of all its among one of the best brands which is my main reason for buying. I've also opted for the USB 3.1 version as the transfer rates are a lot faster. When I'm traveling a lot this is very handy for storing some of my important documents as well as a few of my favorite movies and music videos to watch. 64GB I'd a good size however if you need more space there is a 128GB version. As I have a 2TB drive in my laptop this is enough for me. I always buy my memory cards and USB sticks directly from Amazon, My Memory or Base because I know I'm getting the genuine product.
