The design of this little drive is a moment of aesthetic genius, A simple piece of metal with no apparent seams.Just under 4cms long and the width and depth is exactly the size of a USB port. I mention this because sometimes USB sticks can have chunky plastic shells which can be a problem when putting more than one stick in with close together ports. In my opinion this is a far better design than the Lacie Cookey and at half the price. It would be hard to apply angle stress to this unit which makes it perfect for going on a keyring without the fear of it getting broken. Also it's small form means that it is not as likely to get knocked when in use potentially damaging the port or the drive. The drive is formatted to FAT32 which could be handy for XBOX/PS3 users as it is a compatible format.I have also tested this with my tablet with an OTG cable and it was readable in about 5 seconds. There is no pre-installed software, which is great for me as I use this drive for Portableapps (google it) which sometimes has issues with included encryption software etc. I brought the 32gb version, I have all my software installed on it, But even with an Office suite, Audio/Video/image editors and the mighty VLC player, I still have 27gb left. The only minor negative I have about the drive is that the write speed is a bit slower than I was expecting.

Having spent a few days using this drive, I am happy with almost every aspect of it. This drive was purchased with the intention of using it to send files between my college user area and my home computer, as well as keeping some portable programs on the drive for things such as malware removal, diagnostics and even some music and games. For this, it has met my expectations. The drive has reasonable read/write speeds (20MB/s read and ~7MB/s write on my home machine running Windows 7) which are noticeably better than the 8GB SanDisk Cruzer Orbit it is replacing. This drive detects and operates just fine on two Linux machines (a Raspberry Pi and my laptop), my TV and every Windows machine I have tried it on,as expected. The loop is also thick enough to remain reasonably sturdy while also staying on my lanyard without catching on the loop. The metal design is very solid and reassuring while remaining lightweight, however the drive does heat up considerably during heavy usage as a result. All in all, this drive is serving me well. I will update this review in the future with more information as I use the drive more.

Only 1.2 centimetre wide by 3.9 centimetres long and no thicker than the plug which goes into the USB socket. A very neat package indeed. Also has a sturdy metal case with large, strong metal keyring hole. This device is a good choice for laptops because it doesn't take up much space. If it's carried on a keyring it doesn't fill up the pocket and if it's worn on a lanyard or chain, it could almost pass for a dogtag or pendant.Transfer times seemed reasonable but larger drives can hold a lot of data, so if like me you want to back up all your day-to-day files used on the computer, expect it to take minutes rather than seconds. The lack of a dust cap isn't a problem for me because it never goes in my pocket; I keep it next to the computer for regular backups. There is a useful range of subtle metallic colours to help recognise which drive you are using. So good I bought the 32 GB version as well for additional backups.

The build quality on this is fantastic, it can not be faulted in any way. only drawback I have is that its not super quick but it can write large files at 7.5megs a seconds which is liveable. I will be getting a 32gb one at some point too now.here is the benchmarks I have run:Kingston 16GB DataTraveler SE9Sequential Read : 19.631 MB/sSequential Write : 7.519 MB/sRandom Read 512KB : 20.829 MB/sRandom Write 512KB : 1.500 MB/sRandom Read 4KB (QD=1) : 2.919 MB/s [ 712.8 IOPS]Random Write 4KB (QD=1) : 0.045 MB/s [ 11.1 IOPS]Random Read 4KB (QD=32) : 2.974 MB/s [ 726.0 IOPS]Random Write 4KB (QD=32) : 0.023 MB/s [ 5.6 IOPS]Test : 100 MB [E: 0.6% (0.1/14.6 GB)](x1)Date : 2013/04/04 23:11:06OS : Windows 7 Ultimate Edition SP1 [6.1 Build 7601] (x64)best to stick to larger files on this like mp3 music and video files. small file writes are slow.

This little pen drive is great with a huge capacity of 16gb depending on what you will use it for. It's solid, small, and ideal for those laptops with little space between USB ports. I don't think you'll ever break this not even if you ran over it with your car (might try that one day :-)). The loop is big enough to put on any keyring or lanyard unlike some other memory sticks, and it's also covered by a 5 year manufacturers warranty. Great for the very low price.Nearly perfect says the title of my review and if i could have i would have given 4.5 stars. The reason i say that is that it doesn't have an LED to let you know if it's busy working or not. Not a biggie for some people i suppose, but if it did have one it would have been perfect in every way. Still...it's a great product & a bargain at the price & warranty cover all day long!!

I purchased this as I have other ones the same, and as I’ve said in other reviews the read and write speeds aren’t that good, but as yet I don’t really need it to be super-fast so this is ideal, on windows 7 anywhere between 10-15mbps. It is the size of it that attracted me to it and the sturdiness, it's small enough to fit on your key ring with a hole that feels like it will last for a while and doesn’t stick out too far when placed in a USB port, just about 30mm.I have had other Kingston flash drives for quite a while (G3) and they haven’t packed up yet, so when I saw how tiny and compact these were I just had to buy one... then another.I can only hope that these versions live up to the standard of the others.Very neat and tidy all round and a great price too.

I recently received this item and must say I am very pleased with my purchase. The thing I love most about the item is its size and looks. It looks very discrete and stylish on my keyring and the fact it has a metal casing should keep it well protected. It is ready to use right out the packaging, although I did reformat it to NTFS which was simple to do and took less than 1 minute on my PC. I also like the fact that it holds 16GB so I can put Linux and all my favourite apps on it and still have plenty of room for anything else I may want to transfer between PCs or take with me when I go out. I think this item is great value for money and would gladly recommend it to anyone, safe in the knowledge they will be buying a great product that they will love as well.

This item arrived on time and undamaged. It is exactly as described and the metal casing (instead of the usual plastic) really does make it feel much more sturdy and durable (but also means it gets quite hot after about an hour's use!).If anything, this is smaller than I expected - however, it is just the right size as it's small without being fiddly or awkward to insert/remove.It has a good sized hole for a few keyrings if you want to attach more than one. This USB is also available on Amazon in 64GB, but I went for the 32GB as it was under £11 (I think the larger one was approx £18).Excellent quality; no complaints - would recommend! (Although if you really care about having an LED on your USB stick, this isn't for you.)

I lost my last flash drive, a red and black San Disk, because the thin, flaky plastic split and it fell off my keyring somewhere into the abyss. I loved the size of the San Disk because it didn't take up space in my pocket. So the criteria for my replacement was that it had to be robust and small. The metal-cased Data Traveler fits the bill perfectly and, as a bonus, is double the capacity of my old flash drive - although they don't do 64GB yet. Like most flash drives, it comes FAT32 formatted which is useful for cross-platform compatibility. Although FAT32 doesn't give particularly good write speeds, the Data Traveler seems faster than the San Disk. If you're only going to use one platform, then it's worth reformatting.

Over the last 8 or 9 years I've had quite a number of memory sticks however this has to be one of the best yet.Incredibly tiny yet Kingston were wise enough to put a decent keyring hoop on it so that you can't lose it. Being a single piece of metal makes it incredibly strong (this is replacing one that got bent went someone didn't remove it from the slot straight). Transfer speed is also better than the budget versions - a 200MB video file transferred at an average speed of 10MB/s and a batch of videos at 5-6MB/sec (like most USB keys the write speed is initially fast before dropping to a standard "average" speed).Chose this over their newer USB3 version as the lid didn't look as string - notregretting it.

I love this USB and above all other quirky looking to more practical styled ones I have previously tried, this has been my favourite. Yes it is very small and I could see how losing it could seem a concern, but the hole incorporated into the design shows it is expected to be attached to key rings, etc.It is very handy to carry around and looks simple and sleek, whilst being easy and practical to use v=because there is no swivelling, folding mechanisms like many USBs have, but the USB data part is protected within the design and not exposed to damage. Also, for the amount of memory it offers, I find it a bargain, and I have been using it for 2 years so far and am so far extremely pleased.

I ordered this for my Xbox 360, which is the original build with 20GB hard drive. Over the years I've managed to completely fill that 20GB with the various games I have brought, downloaded and installed. This 32GB works just fine for expanding that by around 28GB (4GB seems to be taken up by Xbox 360 system usage). The install times when installing a game directly to the memory stick are longer than when installing directly to the hard drive, possibly about twice as long, which isn't too much of a bother to me but if it were quicker I wouldn't complain!Overall I'm happy with what it does, as I don't have to be as selective with which of my games I have installed at any one time.

In terms of design and size, this is a top quality product that will get people talking. My only concern is the tight fit, which others have mentioned. It fits very tightly into both iMac and Macbook pro, and I have some concern about damaging the computer's USB port, particularly when removing the USB. Due to its small size, it's rather difficult to pull out from the USB port and I have to make a conscious effort not to wiggle it out each time. As such, I wouldn't let someone inexperienced use this, as it could potentially end up damaging their USB ports. If this was a fraction thinner, it would be perfect. Right now it's very close to perfect, but not quite.

This memory stick feels very nice and sleek. It is smaller then I expected from looking at the picture and the length is only 2.5 fingers wide. It is also smaller than the size of a usb port, meaning it will fit in with other USB devices nicely. It had a write speed of about 8mb/s when I first put it in but, it then reduced to about 3mb/s. The read speed is about 15mb/s. I read someone elses review about it getting hot, thinking that's surely not write but, it is. After feeling it, it does seem to be quite warm.Overall, a very nice compact product that should for fill your needs but, the write speed is a litte low, although it varys at different times.
