I bought this for use in a newer model MacBook Pro with USB-C ports, and it works amazingly well!Note: The orange strap in the photos is my own and does not come with the device.Once you remove the reassuringly tight end cap, it plugs into the USB-C ports with a nice snug feel, and transfers files at a super quick rate. A speed test using Blackmagic on a MacBook Pro plugged into USB-C shows speeds of around 50MB/s write and 300MB/s read. A speed test using Crystal Disk Mark in Windows 10 plugged into USB-A with the supplied adaptor shows speeds of around 90MB/s write and 300MB/s read. This would be slower with lots of smaller files, but I'm using this to store larger files so the speeds are consistently quick for me.The USB-A adaptor is built in to the other end of the stick, and while I know other people find this annoying, I don't personally because it also means I'm carrying a handy USB-C to USB-A adaptor, which I've found useful. The most annoying thing about this drive is that there's nothing to attach the drive to the end cap, despite there being a hole for this. They could easily have provided a small lanyard or strap to connect the two. However, I made my own from 2mm paracord which does the trick really nicely.Something that isn't mentioned enough in the reviews, and is only in the images in the description, is that this flash drive is waterproof, shock-proof, temperature-proof, magnet-proof, and x-ray-proof! These properties make it absolutely perfect for a travel drive, either for on-the-go backups, or just to store some movies to watch on the plane or train. For this reason alone it's worth the money.Overall it's a great product with some amazing features and I'd definitely buy another.??If you find this review or the photos helpful, please click the helpful button below!

UPDATED Review: New Samsung DUO PlusI purchased this after upgrading my MacBook Pro to the new 16” model, which has USB-C ports.I originally bought a similar duo drive by Kingston, but couldn’t suffer the slow speeds and constant freezing, so looked for something better. This flash drive allows you to use both USB-C and USB-A, which is convenient if you are transferring files from a laptop to the new Mac. Remember to line up the arrows when using the USB-A adapter for optimal performance.I run a speed test using the USB-C port on a MacBook Pro and the results were: 64MB/s write and 383.9MB/s read, which is very impressive. The product is well made and comes with an end cap to protect the connectors from accidental damage when not in use.Samsung advertises that the drive is shock-proof, waterproof, temperature-proof, magnet-proof and x-ray-proof, which would be ideal for travellers, photographers, etc.Ideally, I would like Samsung to offer a smaller USB-C drive like their FIT Plus, which is 2/3 smaller than this one (see photo comparison), as the smaller flash drives have less chance of breaking if caught on something. Until then, this is a great alternative.I would definitely recommend this product and would happily buy again.Original Review of the FIT Plus:I searched the internet for good USB 3.1 flash drives and was in two minds whether to get this or the SanDisk. I've always used SanDisk drives in the past, but thought I'd give Samsung a go. I have to say that I've not had any problems with this at all. It transfers data very fast and I've not experienced any warming up of device (even when large amounts GB's onto it). It's small and doesn't stick out like other flash drives. It's perfect if you want to put movies on to watch on your TV or music to play in the car.

I was not expecting this device to be so small but it doesn't bother me. But do make sure you attach this to a key chain or the like because this device will definitely be prone to being lost or misplaced.I'm not one to gripe about speeds. These days you hardly ever find a drive that has the speed that the item depicts so why bother complaining about it? Besides it all depends on the quality of your particular drive, the device onto which you're transferring data, the USB port, etc. And this drive seems to do just fine. Do I wish it was faster? Sure. Do I wish all drives were faster? Of course. As long as the drive isn't slower than molasses in winter, I couldn't care less. Anyway, for the most part,USB drives have decent enough speeds and 99% of the time you get what you pay for (in a good way).I see complaints about the USB being scratched when entering and exiting the USB ports. USBs and USB ports have been around for 15 years, so this should be common sense by now. I don't understand how everyone isn't aware that when you're plugging and unplugging a USB in and out of a port, you're scraping metal against metal. What do you expect? Literally, all of my USB flash drives and USB charging cables have those specific line scratches. Even if a particular port is loose, scratches are inevitable because people plug their USBs into other ports and some ports or USBs will have a tighter fit. Unless you're a USB flash drive collector, oddly, don't worry about the aesthetics of the drive. Plus, you can always get the white version if it bugs you as white hides scratches easier.Overall, superb drive and no complaints. Worth the money.

I had previously bought some 32GB Sandisk Ultra Fits which have a similar looking spec. Now I don't want to hate on those, they work just great as MP3 music stores for your car. However, like many flash drives they have a problem that they heat up when you write to them (perhaps because writing requires higher voltages than reading). That means that for some applications, for example time shifting on a smart TV, the drives spend more of their time writing and can get very hot, which leads to failed recordings - very frustrating when you intended to record a one off event. That is why I was very pleased to discover these alternatives.I can confirm the finding of another reviewer - I've had it recording a 4 hour sporting event and it never got more than luke warm. I have not had it for long, but I'm hopeful this will ensure a longer life.On performance when copying files: the SanDisks used to start up fast and then slow to a crawl on write, I assume that happens when an on-chip RAM buffer fills up. On read the SanDisks were good for everything I needed. The Samsung drive seems have a somewhat slower write speed, but maintains this consistently for the entire copy. Again read speeds are excellent.Price wise it's currently only a little (maybe a third) more expensive than the SanDisk, but I think it's going to be money well spent. Recommended.

I needed a solid state drive to record multitrack audio channels from a QSC Touchmix 16 digital mixing desk. QSC recommend a number of SSD drives and also a similar Samsung USB flash drive. I bought this model for its speed (USB 3.0 / 300mbps) and it’s generous capacity (128GB) as well as it’s lower cost compared to more expensive SSD drives! I have now tried it and can confirm that it does indeed work wth the QSC Touchmix Mixing desk and has successfully recorded multitrack audio files! I can’t confirm the exact read/write speeds of the device but it’s obviously quite fast to be able to record around 16 channels of audio direct to the stick. It is nowhere near as fast as an SSD drive (as expected)but fulfilled its purpose successfully! It will only deliver the higher speeds when used with a USB 3.0 compatibile device but is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 also. This device is decent value for money as it offers around 128GB of (fairly fast) storage space for a competitive price! It is also quite robust having a metal construction and is also small in size and weight! In addition it has a handy keyring loop to avoid loss and keep it safe during transportation. Recommended!

When it comes to buying a USB I always go for name brands as cheap ones that boast high capacity tend to be fake and corrupt your data. So when unboxing this product I read the package and it said it was “Waterproof, shockproof, and heat proof”. I was like awesome not that I will ever need those features. Oh was I wrong. I planned on using the USB on my key chain to always have it handy, I should have done this straight away. So after moving some files that I’d need while on the go I popped it into my pocket watch pocket on my jeans (That little pocket in your jeans). Carried on my day without a worry till I was taking said jeans out of the tumble drier after washing them and thought oh poo… I had just washed and tumble dried my jeans with the USB in there. But then I remembered the packaging had said like before, waterproof, shockproof and heatproof, the poor USB just went through what I’d imagine being the gauntlet of a USB test. Plugged that bad boy into my laptop and bam still working. All files still there, reads and writes fine. Now I don’t recommend carrying on using any USB after such conditions but in most cases, you’ll be able to get those important files back.

Unfortunately my previous USB was obliterated after tripping over my laptop charging leed and it falling on the USB stick while in the port so I looked around for a well priced, small and robust USB which could handle high transfer speeds, something which was a high priority for me when looking for a large capacity drive. I ended up buying the 128GB model of this USB stick and was very happy with what I got, It looks very stylish and feels weighty which gives a very quality and sturdy feel when combined with the metal unibody. The performance was pretty good too, I measured 330MB/s read and a slightly dissapointing 66MB/s write however the random reads and writes were very good compared to all my previous drives, averaging about 3MB/s. It only gets slightly warm during long transfers which is a big improvement from my last one which had the potential to cause burns. It goes well on a keyring however only really works one way, if you flip it round so that the flat side is closest to the keys then it sticks out a good 90 degrees and refuses to go round any further. All in all, a great product and I would definitely reccomend it for the price.

Straight to the point. Actual usable size is 119GB. As per the nonsense that companies seem to be doing, 1GB is actually 1024MB in real life, but they calculate everything as 1000MB. So it is NOT truly 128GB. It is on their math for sales purposes, but not in real life actual space. Which is nonsense, and all companies should stop selling products based on incorrect data.It WRITES around 64MB/s, depending on the size of the files you are transferring onto it. A statistic often missed from reviews, and from the advert. The READ speed on my tests have been faster than advertised. It says "up to 300MB/s", but with Blackmagic Speed Test, I've been getting over 300MB/s. In fact,I got over 377MB/s in tests. In basic tech terms, this means it can write 1080p video at 60fps in realtime without a problem (see images). If you're looking to write 2k or higher video in realtime, this isn't the USB device for you. Those figures are from testing software reading and writing 1GB of data in 1MB files, or chunks, back and forth. Obviously file sizes vary, and backup methods differ. I will edit this review in later weeks if there are any problems.

The drive looks sleek and physically strong although I would always handle it carefully. I find it does not plug in easily to my USB 3.0 port and I have to get the angle just right and apply quite a bit of pressure. I do not have this problem with other USB devices. Although a tight fit, it does not seem to show any scratch marks after removal and fortunately its shape makes it easy to grip when removing. The fact its body is entirely metal has made me wonder how well it is protected from possible electrostatic damage - would it be safer or worse than a plastic bodied drive? I found it writes data at about 1GB / minute on my USB 3.0 connection. It may be quicker when reading data but I haven't checked so far.I should just like to add that the speed of 1GB / minute was deduced from a backup I made using 12 GB of files from the "My Documents" folder which took 12 minutes to copy to this Flash Drive using Microsoft's SyncToy 2.1 backup utility on a Windows 7 PC. The folder contained many sub-folders with many files and the write speed may be a lot faster with a single large file measured using a speed checking utility.

I ordered this USB device to be able to quickly access files on the go via my computers USB C port and to also allow easier transfer of files between my phone and my PC.The transfer speeds when using USB-C are absolutely superb and the best I've seen thus far from any USB-C Flash Drive. However the adapter for USB-A sockets leaves a lot to be desired in terms of performance, operating slower than any of my other USB drives.Additionally the build quality isn't entirely ideal with some slight bending on the USB-C head after only a month of use (more of a cosmetic issues, unlikely to cause any serious damage, but causes the cap not to line up flush with the rest of the body anymore)and the small plastic ring which protects the very top of the USB-C conncetor began to break off after about two months which does not appear to impede performance at all, but leaves it with a somewhat sharp edge and causes it to lose some visual appeal.Functionally I have had no problems with the device though, and if you are looking for a USB-C Drive to be used primarily with the USB-C connector, you could certainly do a lot worse.

Purchased 2 of these little beauties for my laptop. One is permanently plugged into the laptop and runs Manjaro Linux 18.02 (KDE). Very discreet....only sticks out about 1cm from laptop. As regards speed in real world scenario (as opposed to Benchmark scenario), this little flash drive is much faster than any mechanical hard drive, and only a bit slower than SSD in my experience. I use "Clonezilla" to clone (make a perfect copy) of original Samsung Flash drive. The whole process takes about 28 minutes from start to finish and that is to copy 108 GB of data. That is a sustained transfer rate of 70MB per second continuously for almost half an hour...astonishing!Please bear in mind that operating systems like Linux are comprised of hundreds of thousands of small files, and flash drives are much slower at copying these sorts of files (or large numbers of small jpegs for that matter) than say a small number of large media files. It also runs relatively cool. Even after 30 minutes of copying files, it is warm, but still cool enough to touch. All in all another great Samsung product at a great price. Highly recommended.

Great looking little drive which is fast enough and, so far, reliable. It's the perfect USB 3.0 flash drive for expanding the capabilities on the Playstation Classic as no physical power mod is needed when using it (most USB 3.0 sticks require more power than the PS Classic can supply from its standard USB port). Saying that, whilst this USB 3.0 thumb drive works with the PS Classic for running BleemSync 1.1.0, the initial setup and eBoot flash procedure does require a less-power-intensive USB 2.0 stick. But once the PS Classic is flashed successfully with the new firmware the data on the USB 2.0 stick can simply be copied to the Samsung UBS 3.0 drive which works perfectly from that moment on,which results in faster loading times etc. A very neat and capable little USB 3.0 drive. It's not the fastest USB 'thumb drive' and generally reaches speeds between 20MB/s and 40MB/s (tested on Mac and PC whilst formatted as FAT32) but it's more than fast enough for the Playstation Classic and, in my experience, is still quick for such a small USB stick.

I'm reviewing the 256gb version. I don't know why, but i was dubious when i bought this that it would feel sturdy and be fast, but upon getting it out of the packaging, i could feel that the outer casing of this memory stick really is made out of a durable metal but its still sleek and not bulky, in fact it feels tough but comfortable in the hand. I've had a plastic memory sticks casing break in the past, but this feels like it could happen to this one, which is great.Speed wide, i've been impressed. The transfer speed from my PC to the memory stick goes up and down between 20-30Mbps, and that's not even in a USB3 port (though the stick is USB3 capable, its just that my USB3 port is already used by an external Hard disk,so i haven't been able to test the speed through a USB3 socket, so can't speak for speeds vie USB3, though it would be even faster no doubt, though how much i couldn't say). So whether you use the stick through a USB3 or standard USB socket, you it's got a good date transfer speed, this memory stick is the real deal, love it.
