This was bought to transfer all my dad's VHS films onto, the videos and the player are wearing out and he loves all his old movies. I loaded one with all his Van Damme movies and taught him how to get to the memory stick on his new SMART TV.He loves it and as it is so quick the appearance of the film on the screen is fast enough to stop him from keeping on pressing play and messing up the replay. some people are too impatient with the delay in things like replay and catch-up TV so something that responds this quickly to a button press is perfect.I bought another to put all his other movies on and soon filled it up so I have now got a third one to transfer all his current DVD's on to.Now he just has to plug the USB stick into the side of the TV and not have to bend down to under the TV to put in DVD's or VHS tapes. Not having two machines to get confused with (he is 91) and only one remote is a real bonus for him as the unit looks tidy and he does not have remotes laying around in odd places.I am going to buy more of these to use around my home, the Music player can take USB sticks so I don't have to keep running my phone battery down to play my favourite music, my SMART TV's can all have the favourite TV and movie programs added onto the memory stick and then there is the added storage for portable files on the PC,laptops and tablets. I think I will need quite a few so I can get rid of a lot of the older and smaller memory sticks.Plus they good enough to use as additional memory used by ReadyBoost to add speed to the desktop PC. Just realized I am going to need a few more than I originally thought as I have just talked myself into needing more.UPDATE: I just bought two more, they are brilliantUPDATE: I now have 7 of these and use one or two every week to transfer music and movies between different TV's, music players and phones for family members who find Bluetooth and WiFi too difficult due to age or medical conditions. Still going strong after over 2 years continual use.Read full review...

57.7GB capacity on a 64bit Windows 7 machine. I tried a bunch of cheap (due to small sizes (8-16GB)) USBs to replace this very product that I had lost, but they were either defective or were rendered inoperable after a short period of use. The problem with small capacity USB's is that they're usually just low-quality and have a limited number of writes. Larger ones too but it's just harder to saturate it and I think Kingston-quality is fairly high.I bought this product again, and now that I appreciate its durability and reliability given a sea of defective USB drives, decided to post a review. I've been using this device for over a year with constant writes, back-ups, live USBs, etc.with not the slightest problem. Write/read speeds on my original SE9G2 are decent (60-120mb/s roughly, though does tend to dip if it's a long write), though the current one doesn't go much above 20mb/s (usb 3.1 port, hence only 4 stars). Probably a fault on my part somehow. Aesthetic also which is a bonus.Just be advised that it does tend to get fairly hot during long writes (just like any 3.0 USB drive) which affects its speed. I usually transfer things to it in batches.

Perhaps the best keychain flash drive you can purchase on the very cheap!Unlike other pretentiously shaped flash storage drives that imitate old school key and charge you a margin for that, Kingston DataTraveller SE9 G2 is inconspicuous and plain-looking tiny slab of alluminum that gives you full speed USB 3.0 Gen 1 read/write speeds. Most important to me is the real world feel, since the USB Type A connector has a very soft and smooth fit in all PC ports I've used. This is a welcome change from most chinese USB drives that fit like your penetrate wood with a rusty knife. The only and absolutely minor downside of Kingston DataTraveler SE9 G2 is that it takes a while to learn how to read the positioning of the USB port from the shape of the flash drive. There is a small thinning of the drive that you can only feel if you held the drive on the other end, where it usually is connected to your full keychain. This will be solved very soon as Kingston DataTraveler SE10+ makes the move to USB-C port. But for now, expect to make the mandatory three turns (one time it doesn't fit, turn around and it doesn't fit again, turn again and then it fits).

The flash drive is very small and fits well onto a key ring. It has a very large 64gb capacity which is useful for storing lots of videos, music, applications and documents. It supports USB 3.1 which is backwards compatible with USB 3/2/1, so it will work on any USB port. The metal casing of the drive scratches easily, so it's a good idea to protect it. It is compatible with Mac/Windows/Linux, provided that you format it correctly. I have mine formatted as ExFAT to work with Windows and Mac. I also use this drive to watch movies off of my Playstation and it works very well. The drive works well for small transfers. If you transfer large files to and from the drive, it over-heats and slows down.I test the drive with a utility called Black Magic and I got a write of 29.4 MB/s and a read of 117.7MB/s. I sometimes get 50+MB/s write, but this is very inconsistent. I think that the reason behind this is that the drive gets very hot, very fast.In general, I think that for the price, this drive is worth it. It provides very fast data transfer speeds, it has a high capacity and it is a good looking device.

I've been looking for a USB stick for a while. I wanted to find the right one. Well guess what? I found it! I bought the 16GB variant. I have not been disappointed at all. I mainly use it for all my college work and occasionally transferring pictures from my laptop to my desktop. Unfortunately, I have not been able to test this out in a USB 3.0 port because my computers are too old. Although, through USB 2.0 ports my files were transferring a lot quicker than my ancient but trusty 'Bytestor' pen drive. The Build:The drive is incredibly sturdy and robust! As i said above it took me a while as I didn't want a plastic one. Although there were many similar to this many of the reviews for these said that the metal gets bent and therefore doesn't fit into the USB socket. This one seems and looks much stronger. i don't know how they did it but it can certainly stand up to some punishment e.g. on a key ring full of keys or being dropped. The Key ring loop really is great. Once it is on your keys it wont come off any time soon. It won't break and won't deform.Mappers :)

This is a really robust and well made USB key, good storage capacity for the price.I have gone through multiple USBs keys over the last few years and use them frequently. My main issues with them have been:- Fiddly covers, either detachable of hinged- Durability,, fasteners and hooks breaking- Poor data storage reliabilityThis addresses all 3 of those issue for me.It has a brushed 'aluminium' ? metal body and a large integrated loop which clearly won't break unless under a lot of pressureFor me, not having the "business end" covered up is not an issue, the metal casing does seem to provide enough protection for the opening. It's reliable brand, have not had any issues with poor data storage performance. It's "USB 3.0" quick and has chatted politely to all of the machines that I have used it on, including Linux and Windows based OS.The key feels well made and I can easily attach it to a keyring or lanyard. The form factor is exactly the same size as the USB port slot, which I like as it keeps the whole size thing down to a minimum.Would recommend this.

I have been impressed by the Kingston USB stick range of late. I have bought several different ones and this one is, so far, the best one. It feels solid. It is small enough that you can have it on a key ring. There is no moving part, so no risk of having someone breaking it that easily by mistake. The transfer speed is fairly quick. And the storage is decent enough to have several OS ready to boot up from.I do acknowledge that I haven't done any benchmark in comparison to other similar product, but the speed it well enough for my needs. The only other "downside", which is common to all manufacturer, and to be honest more a consequence of Microsoft's position, is the stick is formatted to FAT32 by default. That means you can not have file bigger than 4Gb on the file system. That is easily solved, by reformatting to another "common" file system:* NTFS, the default Windows file system since Windows XP, is supported by most Linux distribution through third party;* a similar third party driver exist for Mac OS XHighly recommend that USB stick.

This is a very compact and simple USB drive. As mentioned that it is a 3.0 flash drive, it does work on a USB 3.0 port as well as a 2.0 port.It is a slick design and looks premium with the metalic material. However, I wasn't satisfied with the write speed, it wasn't up to my need. I bought it with the intention of trying out Remix OS, which recommended a USB 3.0 with at least a write speed of 20Mbps.Using FlashBench as the tool to measure the speed of it, on average:The write speed: 15mbpsThe read speed: about 35mbpsSo based on this result, it wasn't enough to support the OS adequately. If you are planning to use guest mode, that works perfectly fine. But if you are going to try the resident mode, that will suffer abit and crashes quite alot. However, for the price, i think it is still a brilliant flashdrive if you are going to use it for other lighter stuff :)PS: If you are planning to try Remix OS, i would recommend getting Sandisk Ultra. I got that after this, and it works GREAT! I got around 90mbps write speed. ;)

Review update:Whilst one of my two 128GB Kingston sticks failed a week before the 5-year warrantly ran out, I feel it's only fair to say that Kingston accepted my claim via email and once I'd sent in the required details they posted me out a new retail-packaged replacement which I received within 2 days. The whole thing took 4 days, I'm very impressed. The takeaway? Backup your USB sticks REGULARLY as they may well fail, 5 years is a reasonable length warranty and claiming on it does indeed work :)Thank you Kingston!Original review:I bought two of these 128GB Data Traveller USB sticks at the same time and I've just had one fail 8 days under the 5 year warranty window. In that time, the price has almost halved what I paid for it (not unexpected) being Kingston, this device has failed after 4.98 years of a not very hard life.I'll now find out how good their warranty experience is. In the spirit of full disclosure, I've had two 32GB Samsung microSD cards fail in the same time period, though these were in fulltime use.

I like to carry about with me an encrypted backup of my PC. My key-ring is the obvious choice as I never leave home without my keys. This means it needs to have capacity and be very sturdy. This product does both.Being solid stainless steel with no moving parts there is nothing to break. It has enough space to store my important information so I always have a copy on me.It is also surprisingly light and small.Using Bitlocker encryption I also know the data is safe should I ever lose it.My only reason for not giving the final 5th star is because I feel the item needs a cap to protect the contacts. Although they are covered inside the housing, the end is open and could potentially be damaged by other keys on the key-ring or other items that might be in my pocket accidentally poking in there. I fortunately had an old USB stick cap which does fit over the end so I am now 100% happy!

This is my second Kingston USB drive of this type after my USB2 version died (just outside the 5 year warranty). I like the shape and design as the metallic case allows it to take knocks and bumps from my keychain. I use it as a general all-purpose flash drive with recovery boot software on it at all times, good for fixing computers when they go bad.h2test gives me write speeds of 18.7MBs and read speeds of 102MBs on a USB3 port. The write speed is comparable to USB2 flash drives and feels horribly slow. The read speeds are a little less than half of what I get from my SanDisk Extreme flash drive, but it feels fast enough that I don't mind it. It'll serve me well for the recovery software, although those who want to frequently put stuff on/off it may very well want to look for a faster writing flash drive.

This happens to be my latest in a long string of DataTravelers. My first one spent 14 months in the bottom of a duvet cover and must have gone through the washing machine /at least/ 8 times at 60 degrees. Even after another couple of years of heavy usage, being kept in a pocket on public transport and unceremoniously pulled out of sockets without "safely removing hardware", it's still absolutely fine. I really wanted a good excuse to buy a new one but genuinely, I don't know what I have to do to break one of these.By virtue of being a little tiny dense metal thing, it's incredibly neat looking and feels nowhere near as flimsy or rattly as other memory sticks with moving parts or caps, and the capacity is fantastic for the price. I love these things.

Such an affordable USB 3.0 flash drives, I get real world transfer speeds of 50Mb seconds from the disk to my Macbook Pro 13 Retina's SSD, which is a bit slower than advertised but I never know what conditions their transfer speeds are meant to be measured in. Also, worth noting, I didn't measure this, just watched the speed on the progress bar so no the most scientific.Either way, I like having a flash drive with me all the time on my keyring. Because of it's large size I formatted 48GB for MacOS and 16GB as FAT32 for Windows/Mac transfers. I recommend doing this if you transfer between platforms regularly.I also recommend getting a little lanyard clip so you can attach/detach to and fromkeys with ease.

A really decent quality drive - it doesn't feel like it's going to break any time soon... perhaps even ever.Compared to the equivalent SanDisk drives, this is much more sturdy - the case is one piece and all metal. (The SanDisk Ultra Flair drives have plastic glued to a metal port.) This Kingston drive also achieved the same write and read speeds as the SanDisk Ultra Flair drives, of which I own two.The keyring is practical, if you need it.Price-wise, these drives can't be faulted and they're elegant too. The all-metal construction seems to help with heat dissipation too, which I've found to be a problem with USB 3.0 drives, especially those of a smaller form factor.

I simply got these to act as recovery drives for my Window 10 PCs. Although the write speed is nothing to write home about, for the purpose I am using these for, they are good enough. The important fact is the read speed when needing to boot of a USB stick to get access back to your machine when something goes wrong. On a modern machine (USB 3 upwards) the boot speed is pretty good, i.e. seconds and not minutes; older machines boot time will be slower. Went for this model has could put them on a key ring (to stop losing them at home) and read speeds were good enough. If you are looking for a day to day model, for reading and writing data then go for a HyperX model.
