I bought the 16GB JetFlash 600 Endurance model. I'm running Debian 7 64-bit and tested the write speed using dd:`time for i in 1 2 3 4 ; do sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=/media/Transcend/output"$i".img bs=8k count=500k ; done`which gave me the results:...4194304000 bytes (4.2 GB) copied, 265.981 s, 15.8 MB/s...4194304000 bytes (4.2 GB) copied, 268.464 s, 15.6 MB/s...4194304000 bytes (4.2 GB) copied, 271.655 s, 15.4 MB/sdd: writing `/media/Transcend/output4.img': No space left on device422917+0 records in422916+0 records out3464527872 bytes (3.5 GB) copied, 236.282 s, 14.7 MB/sreal 17m23.886suser 0m0.656ssys 1m8.744sAs you can see,the drive is fast enough that it can be filled to capacity in 17½ minutes.I think the last write appeared marginally slower only because the disk became full and the command tried a few times before concluding there is no space left. Anyway a sustained write speed of over 15 MB/s when writing large files on USB 2.0 flash is excellent, the best I've used, just beating an 8GB OCZ Diesel (no longer available as OCZ went out of business).I tested read speeds using ` for i in 1 2 3; do hdparm -tT /dev/sdd1; done` and the result averaged over 31 MB/s reads. These are very good results and the manufacturer's claims are fully supported (peak write speeds sometimes go over 17 MB/s).The product description on Amazon states "Includes JetFlash Elite Data Software" but actually this isn't the case. However, anyone can easily download the Transcend tools at no cost and without any kind of registration. They seem to be generic formatting and backup tools and a proprietary encyption tool of unknown efficacy. If encryption is important then you would in any case be better off using truecrypt, gpg/pgp, ecryptfs or similar free open source tools which are known to work and can be audited and inspected. Personally I'm very happy to have a high capacity, high performance USB flash drive that doesn't come with crackpot secret proprietary "security" schemes, weird partition table, hidden file systems and all the other BS.The product isn't supplied with a strap but there is a pair of tiny apertures so you can fit a wrist strap or cord.I can't say anything about durability or reliability yet but will update this review in the future. As far as I can tell this is a very good product which performs exactly as claimed and expected.

I used a benchmarking program to measure this flash drives speed. I was not dissapointed. Not with its *read speed anyway. It averaged 25mb/s which is excellent, and at one point it hit 31mb/s! *Write speed is good, it averaged between 15-16mb/s. It did occasionally dip to about 13mb/s but also recorded a maximum speed of 19.2mb/s.For a more 'real world usage' test i also copied 1.8GB worth of NEF image files to the drive and recorded it. It completed it in 1 minute, 59.2 seconds. Averaging, according to Windows Vista, 16.2MB/S.Given that Transcend themselves say: "read speed of 32 Mbps and write speed of up to 18 Mbps", this is very good. One thing I am noticing about Transcend, which other manufacturers would do well to emulate, is that they don't provide massively bloated estimates that their products never actually get close to. In my experience, you can trust their speed estimates. For a usb 2.0 card, it's a high performer and a solid purchase....That being said though, for a future proof investment i would definitely recommend the similarly priced Transcend 16GB JetFlash 700 Super Speed USB 3.0 Flash Drive i haven't acutally bought or even used this model, but in general, USB 3.0 is soon to take over. Even if you have a USB 2.0 port, USB 3.0 products still yield slight speed increases. As they're also so similarly priced to USB 2.0 products right now, it's the wise choice.)*Read Speed - how quickly it can play back, or open a file*Write Speed - how quickly it can save or transfer a file (onto itself)

I purchased this flash drive specifically with transfer speeds in mind. I wanted it for transferring compressed home video files from my PC to my TV so I could watch them on the big screen and it works significantly better than other flash drives in that regard. It is able to play a larger number of files and the lip sync on playback is more accurate. I speed tested this stick running on an Ubuntu PC against half a dozen other sticks I had lying around and it was by far the fastest. On writing data, it gave me burst speeds of 24Mb/s and maintained a constant speed on large files of 21Mb/s. Very very good! The nearest alternative was my Corsair flash voyager (which I also bought because it was fast)which gave a burst of 12Mb/s and constant of 10Mb/s. The other five sticks were all disappointing with burst speeds of 12Mb/s or less and constant speeds of less than 7Mb/s. So this Transcend Jet Flash stick really performs and data transfer speeds are not dissimilar to writing large data files to an internal hard drive. With the larger storage capacities of 32Gb or 64Gb you need fast transfer speeds otherwise you will be waiting all day to fill that disk space up!

After reading so many positive reviews about this product, I decided to purchase the Transcend 64GB JetFlash 600 Flash Drive to use with my new Smart TV. When the flash drive arrived, I did some testing to see how it would perform and I wasn't disappointed. Read/write rates are really impressive which is very important as I will be using this mainly for copying large videos files from my computer to watch on my new TV. Build quality is also spot-on and to add piece of mind, a limited lifetime warranty comes as standard.Although there are less expensive USB 2.0 flash drives on the market, they do not perform as well as the Transcend 600 (given its impressive transfer rates)and they certainly do not come with a limited lifetime warranty. I'm that impressed with this product, that I will be purchasing a second, smaller capacity Transcend flash drive to use with my games console. To sum up, if you're looking for a fast, quality USB 2.0 flash drive with the added benefit of a lifetime warranty, the Transcend JetFlash 600 is the one to choose.

This Transcend drive is slim, sleek and shiny. The cap is removable and when in place is quite a snug fit.I wanted a decent sized, fast USB flash drive to transfer video files from my Desktop PC so I can play them via the USB slot on my TV and whilst I've never had a Transcend drive before the previous reviews led me to choose this one.Not disappointed at all - I certainly found this pretty fast. On my Windows 7 desktop transferring 4GB of video files I got a write speed of 17.5 MB/second and read speed of 25.7 MB/second which is certainly faster than any of my other USB flash drives. There are links on the drive to a free download of Transcends Elite Data Management software for backup, recovery and encryption of files and to register the flash drive for their limited lifetime warranty.Whilst the performance/spec of these drives is improving constantly at the time of writing this review I would definitely recommend it.

As a computer technophobe, I found this a great product, extremely fast, much better than two previous flash drives I own, and very reasonably priced. Also it has a lifetime warranty, if you go to the transcend site & register the serial number, which again I found very easy to do. The company are very helpful to deal with by phone, & do not try to badger you into buying something dearer but not necessary for your requirements. Very impressive nowadays! The only downside I found, and it is minor, is that Transcend no longer have a lead attachment, or any form of ring which I found very useful in the past as these gadgets are so small (though robust), it is easy to lose them! Please bring the cords back Transcend, and some nice bright colours like red would also be helpful for the same reason. Surely men would find this useful too whilst at work? The leads are very lightweight and easy to wear around the neck...!

Just started using the Transcend 600 32GB version. Small, Lightweight. It really is very fast.Windows 7 'More Details' Tab when Copying afile shows 18MB Write & 33 MB Read with a single 700MB file.Around 80% faster Write than nearly all other current USB Flash drives. For comparason the popular BYTESTOR 16GB does the same 33 MB Readbut 9 MB Write.A word of caution .It might seem that this model is ideal foruse as a Windows Vista or Win 7 ReadyBoost device.Perhaps not ideal as ReadyBoost is mostly about ACCESS speeds. This Transend is very fast TRANSFER speeds which itgets by using Dual Channel...Access speeds (may)be no better thanother good Flash drives .Look at the Manufactures spec & Pro.reviews ...There is no mention of Readyboost .'They' would emphasise it if it gave good performance.I'm saying it will certainly work OK for Readyboost but not maybe beany better than average. @@@luv Mouse@@

approx speeds:- read : 29-30 Mb/sec Write: 16.5-17.5 Mb/sec. (Based on 5 files webm & mp4 in the 300-550 Mb size range, in total 2.01 GB of files)Speeds seem fairly consistent , Plugged 'n' played fine . As for reliability (which is essential in any storage device) we will have to see. I chose this for the very favourable feedback & fast speeds & I have not been disappointed so far. Oh yes , it comes pre formatted to fat 32, but in a vista environment I formatted to NTFS & the performance afterwards did seem a little faster. So speeds great, size fine (it fits nicely in a wallet), If it lasts as long as my first flash drive (bought 2003) which still works, I will be very happy indeed. All in all for £10 it's a very good deal. Remember !, you are going to lose 1.1 GBs, but you will still have 14.9 GBs to play with.

I selected this based on price, brand, capacity and performance. I can't stand storage with slow writes as this is when I want this device to perform as fast as possible. This reads sequentially in Crystal Disk Mark at 31.53 MB/S and the sequential write speed is 16.86 MB/S using the 50MB size test. The 50MB test is the best one as this will show the worst case scenario speed usually with smaller file transfers and is a good indicator of real world speeds. I'm happy that this was advertised accurately in terms of speeds unlike a lot of other products. Good value for money. The only negative is the build quality. The USB connector and PCB move around inside the plastic housing as there is a little bit of play in there. It feels flimsy and like it might break if used day in day out.

This drive is marginally more that other 32gb USB drives, but worth it.I bought a "no name" 32gb USB drive, and according to Windows 8, when I write to it, that drive topped out at about 4mb/secThis, on the same Windows 8 PC with the same file (a 3gb video), tops out at just above 20mb/sec write speed, so the "hi speed" claims of this drive are true.Reading it, I found it to top out at around 32mb/sec for the same video file.Very impressive. However, the drive cap is easily lost, as it is just that, a cap with no way to secure it on the key. Don't know how tough the transparent plastic it's encased in will be and there is nothing to hook it on to your keys or anything. But I'm happy to tradethose aesthetics for a drive this fast.

This was a great buy if you wanted a cheap, reliable flash drive with a fair amount of space. At the time I bought it, it was perfect for use with smaller files such as standard documents, music, even a few videos depending on their file size. It had decent and consistent read and write speeds, both copying data onto the flash drive and from it to your computer. Having said that, if your computer (or any computers you are likely to use) support USB 3.0, you may as well get the UBS 3.0 version, as it is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 ports. It is also slightly cheaper than this version on Amazon right now, so there really is no reason not to get USB 3.0 version. It will offer you much improved speeds for both read and write.

I bought this as an upgrade from the 8gb transcend memory stick I just bought from their 300 series. This is a much speedier stick and is far more suitable for my needs. I transferred 2.12 gigs of data (3 x 700 video files) and the task took 2m15s. That's just under 16mb/sec so very decent. Read speed of the same files was just over a minute so was about 27-28mb/sec -as good as I've experienced over usb2 and close the manufacturer's claimed speeds. The stick has a blue led to let you know when it functioning and a little cap.Build quality is light - it won't take tremendous abuse but since it wasn't marketed as a super tough stick I won't mark it down. It's a great value stick for the speed /capacity on offer.

A small 60mm x 20mm x 8mm compact 16GB (closer to 15GB storage!) flash drive. I have no technical detail to share on transfer speeds but on both my Desktop and Laptop I have found transfer speeds perfectly adequate for all my home use needs. The item is comparatively light and small and to save loosing it benefits from a having a wrist or neck strap attached to the main body. Be warned you have to supply your own strap and the very small hole in the end of the flash drive body makes threading a little awkward, suggest you start off threading with fine fuse wire!- one rating 'star' lost from a potential perfect five stars for this. All in all well pleased with this item.

This is an excellent USB stick - one that does exactly what it says. I had been looking for a USB stick on Amazon and narrowing down my options - because they have almost all got some bad reviews which say it failed on them. So I had to be cautious and make sure I picked a reliable one - which was all I really wanted. Finally I decided to buy this one, and I wasn't disappointed. It is really reliable, and a lot smaller than I thought. It is firms, and doesn't have any loose parts as some do. So far it has not done anything strange to me and I have had it for a few weeks. Therefore I think if you are looking for a really reliable USB stick that then I recommend this one.
