I was looking for a boot to use for winter walking that gripped better than my Salewa Firetails (a great approach boot, good in the dry but next to useless in mud). Having found Salewa as a good fit because I have a wide forefoot but narrow heels, I went for the Mountain Trainer Lite. I don't need a serious mountain boot - my walks are normally along river paths and into hilly woodland - but I do need something that will grip in mud but not skid around on hard surfaces. This seems to do the job - the sole is slightly 'sticky' and well lugged.Fit is good, although I think it would be improved if Salewa had included their variable insole which allows for more or less room in the toe box rather than just having an insole that is more like a sports trainer.

To be honest I missed the fact these boots have a tiny amount of leather so gutted I didn’t realise until I’d worn them outside.Initially they look very narrow but it’s an optical illusion as the lacing system and layout of the boot forms to my feet nicely, even with a slight Frankenfoot after major surgery years ago.The fitting system needs either some instructions from Salewa (please) or a little experimentation but after working out you need to adjust row by row from the toes back it’s eventually pretty quick to get a great fit. And their claim to no blisters straight out of the box is realistic in my experience as the boots become a part of your body.I’d say they are physically heavier

The Salewa Mountain Trainer Mid GTX delivers as expected. The outsole is extremely tough but with an almost sticky quality which is excellent on rocky surfaces. The lacing system allows you to custom fit the shape of your foot. The heel box is narrow but the toe box is very roomy. I wear an 11 normally and I went up a half size to account for socks. They feel incredibly supportive but there’s a lot of flexibility at the front of the foot. My only cavaet is that I suspect they would be very warm in summer what with the goretex lining

Excellent quality and comfort of the boot, good compromise between rigidity, elasticity and lightness of the product, perfect number, for those with a wide foot, they tighten a little on the instep and tip of the foot, but it is normal until they adapt and take the form. Speed and shipment of the product, reliable. Thank you

Very light and comfortable out of the box. I already have Rapaces so I ordered Mtn Trainer Lite in the same size and they fit great. I haven't taken then out for a walk yet but the sole feels nice and sticky on my apartment floor. The heel feels a little wider than in Rapaces but not by much.

Super light, trippy sole. Look nice, but....are cold (defo not for winter!) And mine and a friends shoes both make a strange 'fopping' noise when walking, kinda like the soles hanging off but cant see any issues, bit annoying on quiet surfaces....

Comfortable boots, the size is right and with the wide sole they are perfect. The sole does not have the Vibram brand, we will see its effectiveness soon on wet surfaces not yet tested on them. For this reason I have not given my best.

I climbed a hard hill with these on 2 days after I had them delivered and they are fantastic. Grippy soles and waterproof. Only gripe I have is the size, if you are a thick sock wearer - get yourself a half size bigger

Very happy with these boots, extremely comfortable, waterproof, pomoca sole is every bit as good as any vibram, light enough for running in, perfect flexibility, plenty of toe room. Best boots I've ever owned!

I appreciated the seriousness of the delivery of the order on time. Well-protected high hiking shoes, I haven't tried them on yet, but I am loyal to the brand. I will not hesitate to order again on this site.

Fit like a glove. They suit a narrow heel and a wideish foot.Size 11 / 46 fits me perfectly. My normal shoes are sized 10 / 45my winter boots are La sportiva Size 47.Very happy hiker.

fit very well and comfortable to wear from new. Soft inside, rigid outside. REALLY good grip on slippery surfaces And most important- lite. Good brand
