I'm one of those people who HATE ironing and only do it when absolutely necessary. ? I was looking for a good quality, basic iron at a good price and, after poring over several on here opted for this one, mainly based on one of the reviews for it which impressed me, because it wasn't overpriced, because it has a ceramic sole plate and because it's from Russell Hobbs which I know to be a very reliable brand (my kettle is one of theirs and is still going strong at 15+ years old!).It has TOTALLY lived up to my expectations. It's stylish and a lovely colour, the design is ideal, it's midweight so it's not too light to perform well and not so heavy that it causes arm ache, it has a nice long cord,it's simple to use with all the functions anyone could need to get the job done, it glides over fabrics like a dream without the horrible sticking that some irons are prone to do, and my ironing was done quickly and super effectively. For such a good iron the price is an absolute steal. I noticed that some irons on here are £100+ and in my opinion anyone who would waste that much money on an iron needs their head examining when they could get a great one like this one for a fraction of the price! Also, how many features is an iron expected to have? The people who have negatively reviewed this iron - and whinged about it being basic, etc - must be Victor Mildrew types and not happy unless they can whine about everything! This iron does everything an iron should do, without sticking to clothes (thanks to the ceramic sole plate), looks nice and is a bargain despite it being by a well known, reliable brand. So, to the whingers - get a life! ?I can't recommend this iron enough!! ?

You receive a very well made well priced iron, I had to check again the price as it very good value. The iron is light to handle, making ironing a lot less tiring on the armIrons tend to have three types of sole plates, Ceramic, Stainless or Titanium, the Russell Hobbs features a ceramic sole plate, which makes the iron glide over garments, Ceramic plates have a good heat conducting capability, They distribute the heat evenly, prevent or eliminates statics and They prevent clothes from sticking on to the surface at higher temperaturesThe iron also features a powerful steam shot and also a less powerful continuous steam both help remove stubborn creases.I do like this iron, its cracking value at just under £15,I’ve worked in the electrical retail trade for over 30 years and have seen so many irons, it is very hard to point to one that you’d say was the best, we had 96 different irons for sale at one time, this I’d have been very happy selling and recommending

The Russell Hobbs steam iron has a stylish light blue design and a good sized ceramic sole plate, which glides easily over clothing and is tapered to a point, so it is easy to navigate buttons and belt loops. The iron is 1800 watt and has continuous bursts of steam when you are tackling tough creases, you can also use the contactless vertical steam function for delicate materials, as well as the steam and temperature controls to adapt your iron to needs. The iron has a refillable water tank which will hold 260ml of water, so you will need to refill it if you have a large load. The iron has a self clean function, which helps those who have hard water and issues with limescale. The iron has a flexible two metre power cord,so you have a reasonable length to reach from socket to ironing board.Overall, this is a basic bog standard iron, which is ideal for everyday use and is very cheaply priced.

This is a very nice, attractive, basic steam iron. I’m pleased to say that, unusually in this internet age, it has a very clear printed, User Guide. It can be use dry or with steam and has spray and “shot of steam” functions. It can also be used vertically for steaming furniture or curtains. Four heat settings provide the right temperature for whatever fabric is being ironed.Filling is easy, distilled water, not chemically descaled or softened, water is recommended. The plastic water reservoir is clear enough to see the water level. The iron is well balanced in use and the clear controls fall easily to hand. The swivel chord allows good control of positioning. The ceramic soleplate glides easily over the piece of ironing. Results are impressive.Maintenance is minimal, the self-clean function should be run at least monthly to prevent scale build-up.Excellent value, recommended.

This iron is very light weight and elegantly designed. While it is an entry level iron it is aesthetically pleasing to the eyes in aqua/ turquois blue. It has quite a few brownie points- a 250ml tank ensures infrequent refill of water when ironing. The meter cable is 2 meters long also allows for comfortable movements around the ironing board. It has other standard features like - : The ceramic soleplate which glides easily on fabrics. It has good steam shot at 120 grams and three temperature settings . The self ckean function is really very useful especially in hard water areas where limescale builds up easily. We have such problem in my area and I have taken to using spring water for ironing. With a 1800w this iron does job and comes with a three year guarantee. At the current price of £15 it is a bargain.

Russell Hobbs is a well known and well liked brand and this iron certainly lives up to their reputation. It’s quite light, has a ceramic soleplate (popular these days) that glides over the ironing. Ceramic plates have a good reputation as far as heat conductivity and transference go, plus they are pretty much non-stick. I like this iron because of the steam shot (essential), the controls are ergonomically laid out and it has a self-clean function (though I haven’t used that because I live in Scotland where the water is perfect!). The power cord is good at two metres long and filling the water tank is better then most (though not perfect). A good all-round iron at a cracking price!Highly recommended!

There are quite a lot of good points. I like the clear water level indicator, and the hinged cap over the fill point to prevent accidental water spillage over your ironing. The iron glides very easily. The controls are clear and easy, and the temperature control effective. You have the usual options of water spray, one-shot steam and continuous s steam. The only negative is because it is so light, it's quite hard work getting creases out of heavy fabrics. However, for light fabrics, it works well. The mains lead at 2m is perfectly adequate. The iron also looks quite attractive.Build quality is good, so it should last a while.Highly recommended, especially at the price.

This iron is powerful enough at 1800W - whilst there are more powerful irons it heats up plenty fast enough, so I think more power would be wasted, and it makes plenty of steam. The cable is a good length and the sole plate is ceramic coated so it slides easily. At full heat it doesn't burn or discolour white shirts and it is even decently finished with no obviously bad mouldings. Job done I'd say. It's not perfect - the steam is just off / on without modulation, and it didn't have a filling jug (which wasn't an issue for me) but really, for the price, it's an absolute steal.

25.2.2019

This is very light and therefore easy to use. It irons nicely and the iron seems to glide over all types of material. The cable is plenty long enough and overall this iron performs very well with a more than adequate steam function and simple to use controls.Filling the water tank is fiddly as is my experience of all of this style of iron. It is certainly no worse than any of the others I've owned. If what you need is a functional, well constructed and easy to use iron, this could be the one for you!

I wasn’t expecting much from an iron that cost me just over a tenner.. I thought it would help me out in the short term but there’s definitely no need to buy a more expensive replacement as it’s actually amazing!! If you’re debating buying one, just get it! Heats up super quick, irons everything with no creases, the steam is soo good! The only downside is you have to fill it up more often then other irons but that doesn’t really bother me! So pleased with mine!

This is a great no-frills iron, ideal for a young person moving into their first independent setting. At £15, it is an absolute steal and does all it needs to and then some. It is light weight and very simple to operate, even for a teenager unaccustomed to doing their own ironing.... I can't comment on the durability as we haven't had it long enough to fairly assess that, but at £15, I'll be happy if it survives beyond the 6 month mark.

It’s a great iron. I was a bit surprised at the of the iron; it was small in comparison to what I was expecting. It’s got all the functions that a iron costing £60 and upwards. The only thing I had to look out for is the temperature has to be set at cotton if I want to use the steam option; I have discovered the iron leaks a bit if I don’t use the cotton setting for steam ironing, personally this doesn’t bother me

17.5.2020

This iron does look quite attractive. I like the blue. I also like that you can see the water inside it.It's lightweight. The only things that I don't like, first, the soleplate feels quite far forward and feels slightly off balance to me, and second, they don't supply you with anything to hold the water to fill it up with, no funnel or anything.Good value for money though I thought.

10.5.2019

This Iron is excellent value for money, it is a steam iron and is completely up to the job of occasional ironing. If you iron everything you may want to invest in a higher end product but if you are just looking for a basic iron this is a great product. The only downside is the temperature control is a bit vague but it is the only part of the iron that highlights the price.

6.3.2019

I'm delighted with this iron. It's a basic iron that gets through tumble-dried cotton sheets effectively. The price is amazing for the quality - in this age of £80+ irons, it's refreshing to get one for £15 that actually has a nice long lead and does a great job. It comes with a 3 year guarantee which gives me confidence that it is built to last.
