NOTE: it's a deeper red than the photo, almost with slight tones of burgundy but that goes better in my kitchen so was even happier with the product. Dear me, it's LOUD! From the second you apply heat it makes pinging/grumbling noises, and you will NOT miss the whistle so great for the hard of hearing. The whistle had gone on my last kettle so I ended up accidentally melting it while being distracted by a phone call from my insurance company. I LOVE the adjustable but sturdy handle so you can pour water in more easily (this is a bugbear for me compared to other hob kettles), the lid is good and tight, and the handle doesn't get lava hot as it boils so fast! It's very compact for a 2.5L kettle and lightweight. Also note be careful how to push the spout end back down, there's a metal clip that DOES get hot. This would work for camping, but I'm using it in my kitchen at home as I have a cranberry range, with which it colour matches almost perfectly. Took less than a day to come too, which was great as my last kettle wasn't usable any more as previously said.

An elegant piece of kit for my kitchen, it has a loud whistle and is easy to wipe clean if you happen to splash anything on it (i.e. while frying on the same cooker). I use a gas hob but I know this can be used on an electric cooker too. If I had one small quibble, it's that the handle gets quite hot while boiling, although not so much so if you remember to bend backwards the joint of the handle which I suppose is handy, and then bend it back upright when the kettle's boiled and you're ready to pour. It's then no more than hand-hot, but to make this a really exceptionally good buy, I wish it was insulated. Or It's just as quick to handle it with a tea-cloth to be on the safe side. This aside,I really do like this kettle. And it looks a lot more expensive than it actually is, so it's a really good value-for-money bargain.

great - looks kind of quaint, smashing red colour, love the whistle, economic - boils a cup of char in a few mins quicker than the electric kettle i have and i use it on a gas bistro stove as i live in a small cornish village where there is no mains gas and sometimes no leccy either, what can i say, its very charming but also very practical and dead cheap. cannot understand the negative reviews, it plainly says on the wrapper what it does and it does it very well. me-thinks the complainents should just buy an electric kettle or stop being a tight wad and wanting something for nothing.great purchase, would highly recomend, but make sure you read the wrapper first so you will not be disappointed - at £6.50 its a bargain xxx

We've had this over a year now, and it's still going strong. I bought it as our old kettle bit the dust and I didn't want to be continually relying on an electric one. The handle does get a bit hot sometimes, but it's nothing pulling your sleeve down on over your hand can't handle.I love the red metallic finish, but this is why I've docked one star- It's coming off in spots seemingly just from being used, which is annoying. My favourite part is the whistle- when it's reaching pitch it sounds just like the beginning of 'Rhapsody in Blue', which is quite pleasing. It's also nice that my toddler hears it starting to go, and comes running and pointing, shouting "Look, mummy! Kettle boiling!"

Didn't expect much for just over £7 but I was surprised it, is very well made and very stylish 'basic - on the stove' kettle but looks very nice in the kitchen and the boiling whistle works very well. There's a lot to be said for a good old fashioned - no frills kettle, no elements to give out or switches to become temperamental and it's not often that they even develop leaks, as most of the by far more expensive electric kettles I have owned seem to end up doing? I bought this as a back up kettle together with a new Russell Hobbs electric kettle bought to replace a yes you've guessed it expensive leaky electric kettle (not a Russell Hobbs) which was only a year and a bit old.

I was looking for a small kettle that would sit on top of our Morso Squirrel woodburner, and with a base of only 18cm, it fits neatly. The idea was to save a little electricity when heating water and while we don't normally get the stove so hot that it causes the whistle to really blow (more of a murmur), at around 85C it's certainly adequate for a brew. The handle get's fairly warm in use, but not so much that it requires a cloth. With this approach, brew time inevitably needs plenty of planning.

Lovely kettle, gorgeous colour and does what it says on the tin! It boils fairly quickly and the whistling, although quiet at first, gets louder. The handle gets warm, but not hot and you don't need a cloth or an oven glove to pick it up. Easy to clean, just wipe it over with a clean, damp cloth. I would recommend it to anyone for the home, camping or caravan use. Fantastic value for money. Nothing negative to say about it at all.

My son enjoyed using this as a toy before I got the chance to take it into the kitchen and in doing so we discovered the lemonade he poured in it works pretty good as a cleaning product too. Now I have managed to pry it out of his chubby little fingers, we're using it as an actual kettle and it works just fine for boiling water for the many cups of coffee required to chase after the aforementioned child.

Ok so electric kettles are faster but they have cables and they are expensive to run, you can put very little water in this for it to boil quickly, I have never had a problem with not having enough but then there are only 2 of us at home, the colour is gorgeous, the whistling is fun and it stays on the hob looking pretty and clears up precious work top space for me as I have a small kitchen. I love it.

A safe and efficient Kettle for use on Camping gas stove. We purchased this to replace our existing camping kettle which is extremely old but has served us well and now this one has arrived earlier than expected and it is well made and having tested it - works extremely well . A quality item that I am sure will last just a long as the previous one quite astoundingly

This kettle is a bargain - lovely shiny colour, small but holds a suprising volume of water. It is quite noisy, sounds like it is about to boil when you only just put it on the hob but i am getting used to it. The whistle is not very loud but again, i will get used to it. Spent £40 on my last kettle but very happy with this one - it is much lighter. would recommend!

A great little kettle fits just right on the gas rings of the cooker in our motor home. Colour red nice, bright and cheerful a most welcoming picture when we arrive back after a long walk, makes a great cup of tea. Good Value for money, dispatch was prompt and arrived all nicely sealed in a box. Really pleased with my purchase and would buy again from same seller.

I love this kettle. I put water in, boil it and then store it empty, maybe this prevents it to wreck. The whistling is not very loud but enough for my home. The color is very nice and it doesn't go away. The only thing that happened to me with this kettle is that it felt down and dented. It might not be the best quality but it's quite cheap.

Been considering getting one of these to simply save on electricity bills. In just about a month of use, I can safely say I have saved something in the region of 5-7% of my electricity bill.Additionally for the price of this item, normally you get only plain looking ones and not this enamalised looking product. Thoughly recommend it.

Whistle kettles are great. This one is not bad, last long. Also great size for camping too. Little tip. The kettles makes a weird popping like sound when you first use it. This will go after a few uses. Also the kettle will keep pristine inside if you use filtered water. Not bad all round for the price. Shipping is quick too.
