The Prestige Whistling enamel kettle is perfect in every way. You may think what's the big deal? Well over years my experience has been as follows:: I have tried various kettles over a long time. The main problem is that the whistle sound is unclear and gets worse as used more often. The other problem is that the separate whistle type either shoots it off across the room as steam pressure builds to boiling OR if the whistle has been pushed on too firmly it is difficult to remove for pouring. Either problem has the added lack of safety issue. Only too easy to scald oneself when removing the tight whistle. I have scalded myself twice! I have also "lost" 2 whistles due to putting down somewhere between uses.I can only think they rolled off worktop into a bin. The Prestige has an attached whistle that is easy to flip open with an insulated "frame". It has a separate lid to remove for filling the kettle. No need to touch when hot!

I saw this kettle on sale at Lakeland for £47.99 and would have ordered it but thought it was too pricey. Further investigation revealed the same item on EBay for £18.99, which I did order. Then looked on Amazon at the reviews and tried to unorder from EBay. This was not possible and I thought I had made a serious error. Now having received the kettle and used it extensively I am glad that I was unable to cancel as it is a fantastic piece of equipment. It does not overheat the handle and the pouring spout at 45 degrees is not the widest opening but I can fit it under the tap to fill and it is more than adequate for pouring out. Prestige is a firm I have previously bought off and trust. And I am pleased to say they have not let me down this time.

Overall, I like the kettle - the colour is super, exactly as I hoped it would be, the shape is good, the base is steady, it comes to the boil very quickly. The one big complaint I have is that the handle gets VERY hot when the water has boiled. It is supposedly designed with a heat "break" but it doesn't work efficiently. You have to leave the kettle for a few minutes to go off the boil before opening the spout to pour it otherwise the steam coming up will make the handle to hot to hold. If you do that, all is well, A great pity as otherwise the kettle is great. We did debate as to whether we would return it but have kept it because we very much like everything else about it.

I love this kettle. it's all curvy like a 1960's Jaguar motor car but it works really well at being just a kettle too. It is easy to fill through the satisfyingly snug fitting lid, which pops off nicely, but if just topping up it will fill through the spout too. It has a comfy handle with a grip so you don't burn your hand, but if you are a bit of a pussy when it comes to handling hot things it's easy enough grab a tea towel first. So it takes longer to boil than an electric kettle, but as any physics teacher will tell you it takes the same amount of energy. But using a gas hob is apparently greener because energy is used to make the electricity...whaddya know.

Overall I’m happy with this. It sits at the back of our Aga all day & does on occasion get knocked when lifting up a heat pad but has withstood this with no scratches. It boils as quickly as you’d expect from a stovetop kettle. The design looks nice & everything works adequately. My only bugbears are that the spout cover doesn’t lift up as much as I’d like & the whistle is a bit rattly & not overly high pitched in sound. That said it is loud enough to be heard around the house. Overall I’m happy with the kettle so far but will update my review if there are any developments in the coming months.

It's has a good weight to the kettle without water in and I'd say with water in weighs as an electric kettle would. It boils and whistles well, it has a heat protection type handle but I always take it of the stove with a tea towel as an extra precaution. The spout seems a little narrow for filling from the tap but there's a removable 'lid' in the middle for easier filling.I make sure the flames from the cooker don't overlap the kettle, as per instructions, so hopefully no discolouration.I'm pleased with my purchase, it looks good on my stove and can recommend both kettle and seller.

Great kettle. Nice weight and size. Lid comes off easily (unlike my last one that need a god awful amount of force) . The only small issues is I need to be very careful of excess water spraying out the spout if I have left it to whistle and whistle. I do not believe this is a design fault but due to the high pressure steam created when kettle is left to effectively over boil. If i catch it as just before it whistles or as it whistle this does not happen. Hoping to get a long time of use from this stove top kettle.

This is the third of these kettles we have bought over the past ten years, so I guess you can say we are a fan. Okay so the first one failed but was replaced without question and the second one lasted for years. In fact we have only replaced that one due to a new kitchen and wanting a bright shiny new one. So the old one has been retired to the garden where some plants are making it their new home - so these kettles even look good in the garden.

Absolutely beautifully ergonomically designed product. A future iconic item, and it works. Is a joy to use, though despite careful insulation, you're probably best off using a tea towel to avoid the heat. You will probably require a steel wool thing inside, depending on how hard you water is, but that's no hardship to the joy of using. Plus, gas is generally cheaper than electricity, just don't overfill!

This is the second one purchased in around 6 years of heavy use by my parents. Excellent modern sleek black design. Insulated handle with comfy grip. Perfect high pitch whistle when it’s boiled- even my deaf dad can hear it. Descales well and comes up like new. Is quite heavy due to the robust base but is a good quality item and my parents have no complaints.

I love my whistling kettle. It takes much longer to boil than an electric one but I don't mind that. My Husband calls it the Whistling Can. I always say the water is Properly boiling when you switch the gas off. The only thing you need to be careful with, is if you fill it right up. The handle gets very hot and U need to hold it with a tea towel. Love it!

Great kettle, ideal capacity and perfect for induction hob heating. Colour is excellent and being dishwasher friendly is a bonus.Whistle is loud and clear and it brings 2lt of water to the boil very rapidly.Nicely balanced and easy pour from the spout and fill from the top.Better all round than more expensive kettles we have used previously.

Our old electric kettle was starting to show its age, clicking off before boiling and forever getting furred up. My wife said she has always liked whistling kettles so we decided to go for this one. It seems to be well built and looks good. It takes longer to boil than the electric one but we are glad we changed to this one

The only problem is you cant fill it through the spout so have to remove the lid which is a tight fit and you have to wear an oven mitt as the steam will burn your hand. Other than that it is a very beautiful design and feels like it will last a long time, unlike many of the hob kettles I've bought.

Super kettle for an induction hob and you just can`t ignore the whistle ! I have retired my electric kettle as it is much more energy efficient. It holds a decent amount of water but be carefull not to overfill as the water spurts out of the spout quite fiercely an indicator would be helpfull.
