I received my kettle earlier today. I specifically bought it because the reviews were very good. It does work with my new induction hob. It is very light in weight. In many ways this is advantageous, because, I would imagine that, generally, less weight equals less energy to be consumed? This kettle is advertised as: a -2-5 Litre kettle. I am very pleased with the product, however, I would like to draw your attention to the actual safe operation of this product. Again, i think it's a good product. This kettle is clearly advertised as being a 2-5 litre kettle. Indeed it potentially is, but only if you overfill the kettle. On the outside, on one side of the kettle: CLEARLY MARKED, is the word,"MAX".I filled the kettle with 1-5 litres of water. This came very close to the MAX level, which is clearly marked on the outside of this kettle. This kettle looks very good: it also should not be described:safely: as a 2-5 litre kettle. According to the impression on the kettle's outside surface: it should be marketed as a 1-5 litre kettle, (if operated safely) This kettle, in my opinion, is good value for money. But it's not a safe 2-5 litre kettle: unless you want steam. water, etc pouring out of the spout, rather inconveniently, and possibly dangerously. This kettle is basically 1-5 litre capacity levelCOMPARISONI also filled a very average electric kettle with 1-5 litres of water: it took 4 minutes to boil.I then used my new induction hob, and filled my new induction kettle at it's maximum heating level. It took 6 minuted to boil.I don't know the cost comparing boiling 1-5 litres by electric or induction, but as a guess, I reckonit would be cheaper by electric: if not by time, don't take my word for it , do it yourself. However, I prefer this kettle to electric. It'svery cool.

Bought this kettle 2 months ago, on the strength of other customer reviews and I am not disappointed. I was concerned that for the £11 I paid the quality might be very low, but although the metal is thin the base has a sufficiently solid plate to ensure good heat distribution (I use it on an old style electric ring cooker). The handle and the trigger flip cap whistle are a good design and work well, whistle reasonably loud, can just hear it in another room. The red finish looks nice (sort of retro) and is easy to wipe clean with a damp cloth, but it appears to be a thin coating that wouldn't handle much cleaning with a scourer! The only down side is the thin metal used overall makes the boiling noise louder than some other kettles, especially if you only part fill it. You get what you pay for, so if you want a heavy, very solid kettle, buy something else for 2 or 3 times the price of this. If you are going to be happy with an inexpensive lightweight kettle, that looks nice, I recommend this one! (By the way this red one appears to be the same as a few other coloured ones, green, cream, etc., but is about £5 less!)UPDATE Dec 2013After owning this kettle for 1 year. Still very pleased with it. Cleaning is easier than I expected, a damp cloth and a tiny amount of washing up liquid is enough to do the job and it shows no signs of wear and tear and still whistling well.UPDATE Feb 2017Although far from worn out, the paint is has rubbed off where I press my thumb to open the lid, and the paint around the base rim is a bit corroded, so I have retired this kettle to emergency use only and bought a newer, but similar design

After yet another electic kettle packed in, I decided to try something different and get one of these to use on an induction hob.The result?Superb. I should have switched years ago!Tested vs a working 3kw electric kettle, both with 2 full cups of cold water in, this kettle on the induction hob actually boiled the water slightly quicker. Not by much, a few seconds, but still quicker. As the hob pulses when on, the electricity usage should be considerably less as well. I don't have an electricity monitor to verify this myself but a little internet research turned up someone who had tested exactly this and the electricity usage was around half that of the kettle. As it is just a metal shell,I suspect it may last a little longer than any electric kettle I've previously owned. Obviously I can't make a similar claim for my induction hob .... although it seems to be coping OK so far.For me, it also has the added bonus of freeing up some counter space as I only have a very small kitchen.I wouldn't use it as a regular kettle on a gas hob however. I tried a stove top kettle on a gas hob years ago and it took forever to boil.I have only two minor gripes which stop it getting the full five stars:1. No gauage to show you how full of water it is.2. The lid could be a little tighter. It has a habit of blowing steam all over the place through the join between lid and kettle as it boils. Both are minor gripes however and don't stop me using it.Recommended.

I did a lot of research on what might be the best kettle buy for my new induction hob - prices ranged from under a tenner to over £75.00.Not wishing to shell out a fortune in case it didn't work, I opted for the least expensive option - I am very very pleased with the performance of this kettle. It looks great on the hob and boils the water (especially for a couple of drinks) very fast indeed. If in doubt, take a chance on this inexpensive (as it's certainly NOT cheap!) gem - you won;t be disappointing!

We bought this as a standby in the event that our electric kettle fails (which happens a lot these days). It arrived well packaged inside a shipping cardboard box. After cleaning I tested it on our induction hob and it boiled up and whistled without any particular problems. The kettle itself has an attractive ivory finish. I did take a star off because the base and kettle shell feel a bit thin to me and would be unlikely to tolerate being knocked about very much.

Budget priced kettle, when unpacked we thought it was a bit light-weight, but it works perfectly well. We only bought it to try out on our induction cooker as we were fed up of continuously buying electric kettles that barely lasted past the warranty period (cheap and expensive ones). The kettle boils very quickly and because of this fact you can hear the heating noise of the water, and the whistle is adequate.All-in-all, a surprisingly good purchase for us.

Only just realized my boo boo. This is the kettle we got after ordering the previous kettle. It was sold out and we then re ordereand got this lovely little darling. So light and easy to handle. The whistle starts off very softly and then the longer you leaveher the louder she will shout at you. Very happy indeed. Will buy another again as it is so easy to clean considering she stands on a Solid Fuel Range all day.

We have had this kettle for a long time now and its still ok. (About 3 years or more). After a long service the only thing is the pin holding the whistle on slipped out. But I pushed it back and its still in place. It works well on an Induction hob as well as gas hob. It will only start to make a banging sound if you allow the lime scale to build up. The whistling is just about right. It keeps it colour.

This is our second kettle of this style. We use it on top of our wood burning stove. It is used from dawn to dusk as we use the hot water for making tea or general washing up etc. The previous model was replaced as the plastic on the lid eventually started to crack/split due to heat fatigue. But it was used for 8 months solid each year so no regrets!

I wanted a kettle to sit on top of our wood burner. This kettle is perfect - nice shape, bright colour, stainless steel. Only disappointment is that the whistle doesn't .... probably top of stove is not intensely hot. Still, it makes a sighing noise when hot enough, a bit like a sleeping basset hound. Nifty opening lever for cap.

Lovely quality, great price... and the colour brightens up the mornings :)I have induction, this works brilliantly on it.Only bad, is that you can't open the spout without a bead of boiling water flicking onto the back of your hand from the whistle hole.A very nice product, money well spent!

I needed a kettle that works on my mini induction hob, because I have solar panels and I can now keep a plentiful supply of boiling water when needed for my voracious appetite for tea. (for free) if you discount the cost of the solar panels, oh and the hob and the kettle. Thinks......

For a value for money kettle this can not be beaten. We tried one for 4 times the price but the whistle did not! This one has an effective whistle which can be heard in the lounge whilst watching the TV. Has been used 4 or 5 times a day for many months and has given us no problems.

I purchased this kettle last year. But made a mistake by cleaning it whilst still hot.I bought a new one and was very happy with the delivery. And the kettle is lovely easy to clean, great whistle and looks very stylish at a very good price.Thank you premier housewares.

This as half the price of my last induction kettle and same quality. What I really liked is the button in the handle to open to spout so you don't have to go near the end of the spout to open it and pour the water. Nice design and excellent value
