Let's try and be as clear as possible what this device is and what it isn't. It's a trimmer for your beard. It's not a razor. If you want to be clean shaven then look elsewhere, you're going to end up with fine facial stubble, or a neatly trimmed beard. If you were thinking of shaving some other kind of body hair then that's right out - the instructions say to only use the 3310 for trimming the parts of your body shown in the pictures in the manual, and the pictures only depict faces and hands, and the hands are only there for holding the trimmer. The next question is how do you clean the QT3310/13 trimmer? On the Amazon page there's a picture of the head being removed and washed under a tap with the text "Easy to clean - simply remove the heads and rinse under the tap to thoroughly clean". But when you open the package and read the sheet of operating instructions it says in big text "Caution - the appliance is not washable. Never immerse the appliance in water and do not rinse it under the tap". I've tried gently running the head under water while simultaneously wiping it with the little brush that comes supplied, and I suspect there is a kind of light grease coating inside the head that keeps it lubricated, and this probably doesn't take too kindly to being washed under a tap. I really don't know the answer - is it washable or not?In terms of ease of use, the 3310 has a nice big green knob in the middle that lets you adjust the distance between the blades and your face, and the width of the cutting area is what I'd describe as medium size - there are some trimmers on the market that have a narrower set of steel blades. It's a little over half the width of the kind of trimmer that a professional barber would use. What all this means is that you get a neat trim of your facial hair, but I found it a little bit time consuming.Where this trimmer really comes into its own is if you use it to trim your longer facial hair, and then use some kind of other purpose built shaver for the bits of your face that you want clean-shaven. If you use it this way you'll probably slightly shorten the entire time it takes to trim your facial hair every day.The 3310 is recharged using a standard USB cable. But if you want to plug it into a wall charger then Philips say you should always use the HQ80 unit which is available separately. Is this just profiteering or will some damage occur if you use a standard wall charger? I can't help feeling this is a bit cynical on Philips' part. The standardisation of all charging units for phones was one of the great improvements in the way mobile phones work, and it's a pity that Philips have chosen to reject it for their beard trimmer.

Reading the reviews there must be more than one model coming under the umbrella heading of Series 3000 as the model I purchased and had delivered came with a mains charger not a USB charger and a different style of storage pouch bag. However, other than that it sounds similar. I've had the product for a few weeks now. I bought it to try something different from wet shaving as I have extremely problematic skin, especially from shaving. In using this trimmer I've found that if I want a clean shave I would still need to use a razor as the system here only goes down to 0.5mm. However, I don't have to do that very often, meaning that unless I want the beard to grow out a little, then using 1mm or 0.5 takes enough off for work etc. But it does leave my skin a little less problematic after use than a wet shave. It doesn't eliminate it completely, but it's better, especially when used with a little balm still afterwards. The system is very easy to use and when operational it's unlikely you'd knock your chosen setting off mid-use as the handgrip doesn't come into conflict with the length setting. The mains charger gives it a full juice up in under an hour and I've been able to use it two or three times on a full charge before having to plug it back in and it's easy to clean. I've only used it on the face however, as that's all the manual recommends it for.For the price, I'm quite happy with it.

STYLE 10 with USB charging, to be clear. I really hate when Amazon makes different items share the same review list.Considering this is on the cheap and cheerful end of things, it's the beard trimmer of my dreams.Doesn't require a fancy charger - you can use just about any recent micro-usb cable to charge it from a PC or plug adapter. They say it takes an 8 hour charge for 30 minutes use, which is MUCH longer than some but you could probably shave with it plugged into a powerbank if necessary. It should be noted that this only includes a USB to micro-USB cable; no plug adapter is included. The green thumb wheel sets the height of the guard and if you want you can pull the guard off entirely -this is literally the sort of control I've been asking for for years. The width of the blade means it's best suited to trimming beards, but if you're not in a hurry I'm sure you'd be able to shave your head with it as well. Cropping thick hair at the higher settings might be a challenge, but shaving should be fine.A bag would have been nice, so I can throw it into my luggage without it picking up a bunch of lint, but I'll forgive them that. It DOES come with one of those little brushes that everyone forgets they have and never would have used anyway. Cats like you to tickle their paws with them. Allegedly.Pretty much perfect for the price.

A beard and stubble trimmer, designed to get trim facial hair. Whether full grown or not. It's average in size, and made of sleek black plastic that allows a firm grip. There are stainless steel blades at the top. They are covered by a protective plastic guard, which has to be removed first. But slots back on easily when you've finished. There is a dial in the middle to use for the setting, There are ten of those, one for each millimetre of how close you want it to go.Switch it via the up and down switch just below said dial, and it will start working. When you're done, the section with the blades needs to be removed so you can use the brush which is provided in order to clean the inside. Then slot that back in once it is.It doesn't charge up via the mains, rather by usb sockets. A usb cable is provided for that.It does need eight hours charging, but will give you half an hour of use when it has been. The instructions are pictorial rather than written, but easy to follow. It comes with a two year guarantee.Nothing spectacular, but a good little product that does a good job.

My son likes to keep his stubble looking smart and he has recently been using this cordless trimmer from Philips. Although this Series 3000 model does not come supplied with a mains power adapter it can be easily be charged from any USB port such as your phone charger, computer or portable power bank etc. making it great for taking with you when travelling – a suitable cable is included for doing this. This Philips beard trimmer is lightweight, quiet and easy to use and features self-sharpening, easy to clean, removable blades and by using the adjustable zoom wheel to set the lock in comb you can get an even trim at any length from the ten settings between 1-10mm.Although priced as a budget model the Philips QT3310/13 is a very versatile and well featured design that can be used for about half an hour from an eight hour overnight charge. This model is an ergonomic design which is nicely made for the price – currently around twenty-three pounds from Amazon – and my son would recommend it for easily keeping your beard or stubble at the length you like it.

I have used many different trimmers, and have found this to be one of the best and easiest to use.I use them to maintain beard length (usually between 3 and 4mm). What makes this so good is a couple of things; firstly, the fact that you can use any micro-usb charger to recharge this.Another thing which surprised me, was how comfortable this is to use. I hadn't read the product description until after using this; when they talk about "skin friendly blades", they're not wrong. I have used trimmers previously where the plastic guards have caused irritation as I have moved them across my face (I have sensitive skin/eczema, so prefer to trim than shave where possible). The comb on this seems to be more rounded, which seems to help a lot in reducing irritation to almost zero.I also like the rotary dial to control trim length, once you have selected your ideal length, it stays there, unless you use the dial to change it. It does not slip as I have has some trimmers do.The result is that you get an incredibly even trim, with little to no irritation.

This is a decent smallish beard trimmer from Philips. It’s rechargeable via USB, comes in black and orange and is very lightweight. Its head is about 37mm wide.It has an orange wheel on the front – you can turn this from 1 to 10 giving you different lengths of beard or stubble. If you take the trimming head off then it will shave at 0.5mm (or so the leaflet says). Its head is easy to clean under a tap with the supplied small brush. The leaflet appears to say it takes 8 hours to charge and you get 30 mins use out of it from that charge – which seems a little mean. The box says “Series 3000” but the advertising grid says this model is the “Series 1000 QT3310/13” which is somewhatconfusing! It does a decent enough job trimming beards, stubble or sideburns. It’s a bit plasticky feeling but nice and light and does almost a good a job as my trusty old Wahl beard trimmer.

There is a removable plastic guard that clips into the end of it, and this can be used to adjust the length of the cutting via the rotating cylinder at the centre of it. Turn it one way to extend the clipping length to 10mm, and then turn it the other to reduce it. It is very simple to adjust and use.The non-removable battery is charged via a micro-USB connector in the base (same as most mobile phones) so it is easy to charge, although it does take a while to charge (8 hours for 30 mins trimming). Since it is just designed for your beard, it doesn't have much power so don't expect to do all your hair with this (especially since the cutting area is only about an inch wide),but it is perfectly adequate for your face.Overall, as long as you don't expect too much it is perfectly fine for stubble/beard trimming.

My old 1000 died so thought I,d try the next one up the price scale, just as good at cutting without loss of power, plus I can keep it fully charged by plugging back in after use following the guide lines set out in the instructions, but must remember to fully discharge every 6 months or so, something I used to do with my old one which I suspect led to its early demise only having had it for 2 years, a quick trim of my 3mm stubble once a week so over two years only used 104 trims, not good, hopefully this one will last a lot longer, we shall see, I like Phillips products and over the years usually buy their products, so the 1000 was a bit of a dissapointment, very pleased so far with this though.

It gives a great clean shave whatever setting you have the guard at. The battery is extremely quick at charging; with ever minute spent charging resulting in one minute of shaving.I found that the compact design makes it great for travelling as it easily fits in my wash bag and is easy to move around your face. The titanium blades result in a sharp cutting action that doesn't pull or tug at your hair letting you have a quick trim of your beard leaving you with a consistent ans even length.I store the beard trimmer on my bathroom shelf as the clean black and silver colours look classy. It's a great all round shaver / beard trimmer that keeps on working shave after shave.

Finally! After years of searching for a head and beard trimmer that is not only affective quick to use, quick to clean and can be used for head and beard. It has a wheel which you move left and right and remember the number you use for beard hair ect.. Even zero for head shave which is noticeable these skin but next best. I use 2.5 for beard for close cropping.. Less if you want stubble.. Just glides over.. Charge lasts well.. Grill on front slides off to empty hair after a few glides.. If cropped hair over inch long .. Takes seconds... Best performance of this type I've ever had and tried several over the years... Halebloodyluya! lol.... Get it

Just bought the 3000 model and used it for the first time. It's much neater and smaller in the hand than I expected which is really nice. Very pleased with the 2mm setting which was comfortable with no tugging and seems to give an even cut. Without the guard the cutter gives quite a close shave. Not exactly quiet but fine for me. Someone forgot to put the instructions in the box but Google sorted that out. It's hard on this site to compare the different models and I've just seen a 1000 version which appears to have the same cutting options for £5 less, but just lacks the quick charge battery. Anyway, pleased so far, we'll see how it goes.

So far this is great. Battery lasts for a looooong time, and it flashes when low battery so it doesn't cut out with half a shaved face. Battery also charges quickIt can cut without the guard on but I guess that's why it's there so I'm not marking down for this. The on/off involves sliding the whole black panel where you hold it so it's fairly easy to accidentally switch off whilst shaving... maybe they need to work on that. On the flip side, the length of the cut is really clear and easy to control, and there's no chance of accidentally changing this.Hairs do get stuck in the guard but knocking them out whilst you go is easy enough.

I like this beard trimmer. Personally, I hate shaving so I tend to let it grow until I have to shave but with this trimmer it takes no time at all! The first reason I went for this one was the fact that it only takes an hour to charge and gives you an hours worth of use (others take 8 hours for 40 min of use), which is quite a few trims for me and I must say it does charge very quickly and does last. The second reason was that I trust Philips. The only reason I have given it 4 stars is, if I had to buy one again I would possibly look at a fully waterproof one that I could use in the shower or clean completely under the tap.

5.6.2017

I liked the quality of this trimmer and how a 1 hour charge gave you 60 minutes of usage (which is quite good considering other trimmers have to be charged for 10 hours for 40/60 minutes usage). However, this trimmer died after 15 months and I used it perhaps twice a month to maintain my fully grown beard. I have learned to accept that every trimmer I have ever owned has died; and every trimmer I am yet to own will die. Therefore, I wont knock a star off my rating because of this. Next time I am going to go cheap and cheerful as beard trimmers are not built to last like your Oral B toothbrush!
