So! you're like me... someone who reads reviews, compares articles and weighs up specs on everything before you buy. Welcome to the only review you need to pay attention to.I went through every review online and in magazines to find the top brands; Wahl, Remington and Phillips. I eventually ended up filtering them all down and going round and round in circles, always ending up back to this one. The negative comments put me off slightly, but so glad I ignored them - there's always going to be a group of grumpy people around. I even messaged owners of this trimmer to see what they say about it - all still swear by it, now including me.Now for the actual product:- To give you a sense of scale, the length of it is around 17cm - just the length of my hand!- It cuts like a hot knife through butter. Not a single hair missed out, cuts it all first time every time. (facial/body/side of head hair)- It's not silent, but not annoyingly loud - more like a gentle hum.- Ergonomic design, made of smooth matte plastic but doesn't feel cheap. Light and comfortable to hold.- Settings are easy, and you can use it straight out the box, fully charged.- Guide comb is detachable as well as adjustable from 1 to 9 (not sure if these refer to the usual grades, but there's a conversion chart in the manual).- Mainly for facial hair, but works with body hair as well. Can't comment on head hair as such, but it's done my sides just fine.- The flip out precision trimmer is great - cuts every hair despite its small size (usually smaller clippers are less powerful).- The plug in doesn't keep falling out, there's an actual click to it (my old one kept slipping out, and it wouldn't hold a charge at all). For some these may be negative points, but makes no difference to me...- According to the manual, you can't run water over it, or submerge it in water, and all hair has to be dry before cutting.- The wire cable that comes with it short. Just under 6ft long.- For head hair on the top, this might not be suitable because of the cutting width, but as I said - it doesn't miss a single hair, so it might be fine.I can't comment on battery life either since I've just got it, but I will edit this bit when the time comes.EDIT: Battery life is epic - lasts for multiple shaves.Overall:It's smooth, powerful, easy, not too loud, lightweight, precise and just the right size!

I purchased this beard trimmer over 2 years ago and have recently purchased another as a gift for my brother. This Remington MB320C is absolutely fantastic and provides amazing quality at a bargain price. The build quality is fantastic and the trimmer looks as good as new after 2 years of abuse. It is solidly built, comfortable, light and balanced to hold. The trimmer comb attachment is adjusted by a thumb wheel and clicks in to place nicely. There are nine length settings ranging from 1.5-18mm. The settings are 1.5mm, 2.5mm, 3-4mm, 4-5.5mm, 5-7mm, 6-9mm, 7-11mm, 8-14mm, 9-18mm. This makes the trimmer ideal for styling your beard whether you prefer very short stubble or a long beard. The trimmer comb can be removed completely for cleaning using the cleaning brush provided. This will also give access to the pop-up trimmer which is ideal for trimming awkward areas such as neck and sideburns for extra detail and shaping. The battery takes about 16 hours to fully charge. I only use the trimmer for 5-10 minutes at a time so the battery easily lasts a couple of weeks before needing a recharge. It should last a total of 40 minutes of use from a full charge. When the battery is low, the LED will flash during use to give you a heads up that the trimmer needs a recharge.I have a full medium length beard and this trimmer provides a very comfortable shave and I have enjoyed using it for the last two years. The ceramic coated blades cuts through my thick hair effortlessly without pulling or causing any form of discomfort. This trimmer is not designed for body hair but I do occasionally use it to trim leg hair slightly and it works perfectly. The trimmer is working as good as new and the battery life has not deteriorated at all which I found tends to happen overtime with previous trimmers I have used. I would highly recommend this beard trimmer and even after 2 years of abuse I have no intentions of replacing it anytime soon. I must also add that my brother is also loving this trimmer. If I have missed anything that you would like to know about, please feel free to leave a comment and I will do my best to provide an answer.

I feel I must state 2 things here. Firstly I have to report that I purchased this shaver in November 2009 and after 3 years of continued use it is still trimming my low cut beard extremely well. I have the setting set at 4 which is my preferred height of hair and have had no problem with the shape of the cutter and the fact that the on/off switch is located on the right hand side and being right handed I have not had to seek out left handed friends or attempted to become ambidextrous in order to turn it on/off. The only problem with this otherwise great little trimmer is the battery. It only holds enough charge for about 20 minutes trimming.Otherwise I am a most pleased customer. The second point is with regard to the comments by Lee McEwan on 29 Nov 2009 in which he made the following points "And yet if I believed the reviews on Amazon I would be conned into believing that this was the best in the market". and "I have to say that reading these reviews makes me doubt the value of ever reading an Amazon review again". and "These reviews look like they have been paid for by Remington as part of a concerted consumer PR effort to hawk their sub-standard products". and "Sorry, I didn't mean to get so carried away but this kind of stuff really offends me. It makes the service worse for all of us".Well Mr McEwan your arrogance is being exposed here because you are saying that several hundred people who say they are very satisfied with this product are wrong and you are right! You then imply they may have been "paid for by Remington". You then say it offends you. Well Mr McEwan you have just offended several hundred - no make that tens of thousands - of people who elect to give comments on Amazon. In conclusion I repeat that this Remington shaver is an excellent product especially considering its price and when I bought it I had the usual good delivery service from Amazon. No Mr McEwan and one or two other doubters I am not connected in any way past or present to either Remington or Amazon. I just appreciate those who comment here because they do really help me decide what to purchase.

I bought my first 'Remington Barba Beard Trimmer' about 10 years ago and it has only stopped working last weekend when I dropped it on the hard bathroom floor. When it finally broke the grading adjustment mechanism had come loose and would no longer adjust. However, up until now the blades have kept their sharpness and the product has never presented a design flaw.I usually just store the shaver in a wash bag with a lot of other grooming equipment but the finish on the shaver has never dented or begun to look used and old. Even the silver coating down the sides has stayed looking pretty much new. On another instance when I had accidently dropped the shaver, one of the ribs from the plastic guard broke.I got on the phone to Remington and customer support sent out a free replacement that arrived within a couple of days. The only other problem I have had is that the battery began to lose its charge about 3 years into ownership so i've had to plug it in at the mains every time but the fact it has lasted about 10 years is incredible. This can be used as a head shaver/ hair cutter and a beard trimmer. I've owned a couple of more expensive clippers like the ones used in salons and the blades for both models lost their sharpness shortly after purchase. As said before not a problem with this product at all. Comparing it with a typical clipper it is much smaller, much easier to use, more accurate with closer grading, and doesn't require the grade guards to be changed. I used to pay about £20 a week to get my hair cut before I owned this and that was a cheap option usually involving trainees. Now I can cut my own hair in a variety of styles within 15 minutes and it costs me nothing. I hate to think what it costs now to get a professional haircut. I used to hate getting it done by someone else anyway, I much prefer doing it myself. So I have gone ahead and ordered another to replace it. This is one of those few products that does everything how it is supposed to and really impresses. I hope they continue to sell this item for years to come.

I commend Remington for coming up with an outstanding piece of technology. As a school teacher, I wear a goatee to be up to speed with current facial fashion. However, to date, the goatee grew to an unmanageable extent by Friday, necessitating the shaving off of it in its entireity on Friday evening. The result was that I was goateeless until around Tuesday of the next week, and this was a most unsatisfactory position. The Remington MB320C was a godsend, in that every Friday all that I need to do is trim the goatee and not shave the whole thing off. The result is that I am able to have a goatee 100% of the time, and so remain facial-hair credible at all times.I cannot thank the Remington MB320C enough for being the solution to a problem that I to date had not been able to solve.UPDATE:2/7/11I now generally clean shave, so have stored away the MB320C for the time being.UPDATE 2:5/5/2014I have been back with the Remington for the last year. I am using setting 2 (2.5mm) to trim a short stubble on the weekend and letting it grow during the week to a heavy stubble. This 2.5mm once a week strategy is a highly efficient use of time and still ensures that the stubble is still neat on Friday. Looking at the date of purchase, I have had the Remington MB320C for around 5 years and its still going strong. I have referred several more colleagues to the Remington reviews on Amazon.co.uk and it is now the case that around 10 of my colleagues have purchased it since my 2009 review.UPDATE 3:20/09/2014I am currently growing a beard, facilitated to a great extent by using Percy Nobleman's beard oil to get me through the "itch phase". I therefore look forward to using, in due course, my ever reliable and now 5 years old MB320C on its double digit millimetre settings!

For a long time now I've used a trimmer to cut my facial hair short as I prefer the "short stubble look" to completely shaving. My first trimmer was a Remington (a similar but older model to this one) and it was brilliant. The battery lasted ages, it rarely needed maintenance and worked really well. When I lost the charger for it on holiday, I looked at what was available at the time and decided to go for a Wahl model to replace it. I put my trust in the Wahl brand, since I've seen their stuff in barber shops and hair dressers countless times. It was a big mistake though - the clipper needed constant oiling, the motor was never very strong and it felt quite cheap in the hand. After persevering with it for a while, I finally decided to give up and get another Remington model and went for this one. I'm so glad I did. I can't state strongly enough how much better this is than the Wahl, and it's even better than my old Remington. It has a great feel in the hand, the charging LEDs are well placed and the motor feels extremely powerful. I regret not ditching the Wahl and buying this sooner. In the box you just get the unit itself, a mains charger and a little cleaning brush. The in-built comb adjusts for different grades, or you can remove it altogether like I do to get an extremely short cut. This is great because there are no fiddly bits to lose (my Wahl one had a separate comb attachment for each grade). There is a precision trimmer which is also inbuilt and flips up once the comb is removed. There are no other accessories that you commonly get with these trimmers like a nasal hair trimmer, but that suits me perfectly because I would rather have a good trimmer that just does one job, than something that does lots of things badly.

Deceided to grow a beard for a laugh before the holidays. It stopped being funny when I got to the 'Jesus phase', but I didn't want to lose it completely. After spending ages trying to find reviews for beard trimmers and coming across ones with little vacuums, hair traps and even lasers (yes, laser beams -- on a beard trimmer), I opted for this one. Partly since it seemed simple enough that it would cover my use cases and a lot of other people thought it was ok too. Had it for a few weeks now and overall, I'm pleased with it.Pros:- Simple to use. You turn the dial to the desired 'length' and flick the switch and start trimming.- Easy to handle. Doesn't feel like it's flimsy not too heavy.Nicely balanced too.- Decent battery life. I've had to charge it once but been fine since then.- Cuts well enough and I can manage to do the top lip just fine (I was worried about hitting my nose all the time).- Has a precision trimmer that pops up.Cons:- Not obvious what the numbers correspond to in terms of length without reading the manual. Makes it difficult to compare with other trimmers.- Charging means taking it elsewhere in the house and plugging in. A dock of some kind would be nice.- Cleaning is a pain. Hair gets everywhere and it can't be run under the tap (not waterproof). There is a little brush and I've just come to accept that there's an extra few minutes brushing hair out. I suppose I could leave it but little hairs lying around would annoy me.- The shortest cut isn't short enough (i.e. the trimmer itself). I still have to wet-shave my neck, but I'm ok with that,I would definitely recommend this as a first trimmer but I wonder if the next one I buy (prob in a few years) will be one I can use in the shower.

Finding the right personal trimmer has always been difficult task for me. I don't 'clean' shave due to my sensitive skin coming up in spots when I do, so I've always used a trimmer to shave just above the skin surface. I also, shave my head regularly so agian needed a groomer that could also double up as a hair trimmer. Previously used a BaByliss for men motorised trimmer ( as the guard is robust and doesn't detach when shaveing) but after a year's use the battery lasts for about 30 seconds before dying, and that was after this BaByliss replaced the first for exactly the same fault. So, needed a new one. It needed to be cordless and rechargeable, be able to trim quite shallow and the blade gaurd had to be tough so the 'teeth'didn't snap off or come loose while shaving which was a problem I have had with previous trimmers.Read the reviews for this little beaut and bought one. Wow! simple yet totally effective. As mentioned, it's shape allows it to fit in the hand really nicely. The guard is robust and detachable which allows me to get the closest shave I've had in many years which stops short of a clean shave, but still gives a pretty close one at that. The guard is easily adjustable to a required length which allows me to trim my hair to a No.1,2 and onwards. I've had it for over 3 weeks now and have yet to recharge it despite using it every other day.So impressed with this one, that A) this is the first time I felt compelled to write a review of an Amazon purchase and B) I like it so much... I didn't buy the company (old skool reference for you oldies out there) but I did buy myself a spare, which at such a good price was still worth buying twice.Totally recomended!!

Firstly, the benefit of this trimmer is the small incremental height adjustments. You will probably start off with finding the desired length (lets face it, nobody puts a ruler to their face to measure how short or long they want their beard trimmed!). You simply attach the "trimmer comb attachment" (the attachment push fits onto the trimmer) and then use the "zoom wheel" on the neck of the trimmer to adjust the height of said attachment. This will allow you to adjust the length of cut. Next to the zoom wheel, is a small window that displays the length position indicator of the comb attachment. This makes it very easy to remember the length you desire the next time you use it - gone are the days of remembering the number of "clicks for your trimmer. The number range displayed in the window is from 1 (shortest) to 9 (longest). The trimmer itself feels well built - it's ergonomically designed so it fits well in your hand - there is no risk of it slipping through your hand because of its shape. It's made from plastic (apart from the cutting blades) but feels like a premium product - as expected from this brand. Finally, not that I have much luck using this feature, it has a "pop up trimmer" - this is used to "detail" your beard. I don't use it as I simply remove the "trimmer comb attachment" and use the larger blades to help me "detail" my beard - i.e lines around jaw line & moustache. However do not be fooled, this "pop up trimmer" will not beat a manual shaver Gillette Fusion rear precision's blade. All in all, I purchased this to replace my old dying remington beard trimmer and it was money well spent.

Having owned this for 4 years now, I can confirm that it's a great quality product and a pleasure to use.Fully charge it before you start using it to get the most out of it. There's an LED which changes from orange to green when the charge is full. I use the trimmer roughly 4 days a week and the charge still lasts 2 - 3 weeks. You'll be able to hear the trimmer slowing down as you reach the very end of the charge, giving you maybe 2 more full beard shaves. You can simply plug it in a run it from mains while you finish your shave if you run it to no charge. There are 9 length settings on it, but I've only ever used 1 - 4 and they all trimmed evenly without pulling, catching or sticking. The thumb wheel for adjusting length is positioned well and out of the way while shaving. Once you choose the length, the setting will remain in place very reliably. The design is very comfortable to hold and is well designed for holding in different grips depending on the direction you shave in. Even when I've had it plugged in charging during a shave, it's barely noticeable and still very light and easy to manoeuvure. Its self-maintenance is also a great bonus and its continued performance is a testament to it's quality. When you remove the length guide from the top, you can flip open the pop-up trimmer which is great for doing moustache edges and enabling finely controlled shaping to your shave. This trimmer will give you flexibility, quality and ease of use. Whether you pay twenty of twent five pounds, it's still great value and I recommend buying it.

After my phillips multigroom trimmer decided to give up not 2 months after I bought it, I had a browse for replacement. The reviews for this are good overall and the name has a good reputation so I went for it.Pro's-SO much better quality than the phillips ( honestly a different league)-Really nice design, smooth edges and fits very nicely into my hand ( again much more comfortable than the phillips )-Instead of having to take parts off and add different parts on this trimmer has it all intact, so changing the length settings is so much easier (just a thumb movement) with this design it also means that the setting you choose doesn't slip, unlike with the the add on/take off attachments.-The trimmer head itself is a lot more comfortable on the skin then any of the previous trimmers I have used, less sharp and less of a scrape.con'sI haven't yet found any, apart from the fact it could have come with a case but the phillips case I had totally disintegrated within a week so it isn't really falling in that department.Overall so far I am hugely happy with my purchase, I assumed that all trimmers in this price range would be cheap plastic and a little flimsy but not this one! it seems a real bargain but I haven't had it very long so it may be too early to tell.Update 2 years on : I now have a thicker beard but this trimmer is still working and performing just as good as new, highly recommended, all I need to keep the "fuzz" neat and tidy.

No major complaints, I used this several times weekly for 7 years which isn't a terrible run. The battery had worn down a bit, but on opening it I found two standard AAA-size li-ion cells which could be replaced if you're handy with a soldering iron. It was still comfortably lasting 2-3 quick shaves anyway. But the reason I opened it in the first place was that it was dropped, and the comb no longer stays in place. Basically, you could use it at number 1 and that was it, which isn't much good for someone who usually uses it on number 6.The comb extension works by rotating a dial, which pushes two pieces of plastic (about 1mm in diameter) on either side, which are both attached to a tray which pushes the comb outwards. If you drop it on the comb when it is set to anything other than number 1, you are highly likely to break these tiny pieces of plastic, which is what happened in my case. Thus, my advice would be to always retract the comb when you've finished using it.On ease of repairing - the use of adhesive tape on the sides (behind the silver part) was a little odd and didn't really seem necessary, but other than that it's a simple design and not _too_ difficult to get in to. Hardest part is separating the top cover from the bottom. But faced with a broken comb after 7 years, and no real way to fix the plastic tray, I opted to replace rather than repair.

To set the scene, I have used pretty much most types of shaving gear, cheap disposables, expensive disposables, electric razors, double edged razors etc etc. Had varying levels of results and skin irritation.I probably got my best shave from the double edged, but all the messing about with lathering started to get to me, and I craved the quick fix of something simpler.Step in the Barba beard trimmer.I'm using this to keep a tidy level of stumble. So far, it is working well. I use it on the lowest setting with the guard, I would say it is slightly more than stubble, but for me it is fine. If you want proper short stubble, this may not be right for you.Helps with irritation as no metal actually touches and scrapes your face thanks to the guard. The product is nice and light, and seems reasonably powerful. You do have to move the blades quite slowly, as it will nip and pull a bit if you go to fast. When you get your rhythm, it works well.My only real issue is the cutting head isnt very wide, would have like to have seen this wider to speed up shaving. I guess this helps with precision and keeps the price down, so not a bad tradeoff. The little mini precision cutter is also useful.Charges quickly and last a couple of weeks on one charge.I would buy this again for the money.

This is my 2nd Remington MB320C. The first one lasted almost exactly 4 years before I had to dispose of it. Ironically it was still trimming my beard as well as it was when new ( I keep my beard at 1mm and use it at least twice a week ) but the battery had completely given out. During the last 12/18 months of its life, I noticed that the recharge was progressively holding for less and less time. Eventually it would not recharge at all. I searched for alternatives but customer reviews were mixed and when I priced this one on Amazon it was only £16 to replace and that over a 4 year period is very little.Much as I hate built in obsolescence there really was no sensible alternative.Given that the cutting mechanism is so smooth and efficient, it is a shame that Remington doesn't do more to improve battery performance. Another little complaint is the absence of a recharge completed light. The recharge light is green from the moment you plug in and so you have no way of knowing how long it takes to recharge. An improvement on the previous model is the size and weight of the recharge adaptor. Now considerably smaller and lighter it is much better for taking on holiday etc.I do recommend this product but cannot give it a full 5* rating because of the issues I've cited.

Bought this before Christmas 2017 and charged it up. First time of use I knew I had a winner. Have previously used other brands of re-chargeable trimmers which need replaced every 2-3 years because they stop holding their charge and consequently struggle to go through my beard.I was impressed with this Remington first time I used it, but have been amazed to find how long the battery lasts. I first charged it in December, and have used it once or twice a week since, and yet only had to charge it for a second time in early June. That's nearly SIX MONTHS on one charge. What was noticeable when it did need re-charged was that it stopped suddenly which wasn't a problem as I simply plugged it in and finished trimming with it attached to the mains.Every other trimmer I have used over many years simply slowed down and lost power gradually as the battery went down. Was quite surprised this Remington seemed to operate at full power to the last drop of charge, then stopped abruptly, but as stated, with a mains lead, that's not an issue. One point of note is that when I bought it, it stated that it came with a two-pin shaver plug only, but mine came with a standard 3-pin plug, so the adapter I ordered at the same time wasn't required.
