I bought these hair clippers initially because I wanted some wigs cut for the stage and could not find anybody locally who was prepared to risk cutting them. Unlike real hair, a wig isn't going to grow back if they make a mistake. In the end I decided to have a go myself and so bought these clippers. There are some good videos online showing you how to use this brand of clippers for different lengths of hair, and many other videos demonstrating how to cut hair. After watching these, I put an old wig on a block and had a trial run. Despite my worry that these would be powerful and run away with me, they cut very gently and the different attachments mean that you can't cut too much. So,with a little practice, it is actually very easy once you learn the wrist action and direction to cut in. The secret is only to take off a little hair at a time, check for length and then cut more if needed. The box also contains scissors and a comb, so you can trim that way too in any areas that need tidying up. I had a go at trimming the stage wigs and was delighted with the result and they have now been used in performance.Ultimately I decided to have a go at cutting my own hair with the clippers. Although it is much easier to cut someone else's hair, with the aid of mirrors so that I could see the back and, again, only clipping a little at a time, I was astonished by the professional looking results. It was very quick and easy, and of course saves a lot of money by not having to pay a hairdresser! So they more than pay for themselves in just one hair cut.As I get more experienced at it, it will obviously become much quicker and easier, and will save a fortune over the years as I shall probably never visit a hairdresser again. Plus, the advantage of the clippers is that you can regularly cut little bits off your hair as it grows, so you can keep the style looking good all the time. I would certainly recommend them, and it is worth buying a very cheap wig from eBay just to have a practice on when you first use them.Read full review...

---SUMMARY---Amazing value. So easy to use. Great for cutting my 2 year old's hair---WHAT’S IN THE BOX ---1 x mains powered clipper4 x Attachment combs (sizes 1 through 4)1 x comb1 x scissors1 x small tube of oil1 x Cleaning brush---IN USE---So easy to set up and use. Plug it in, oil the blade, attach a cutting guide (sizes 1 through 4 included), and start cutting!I bought this to cut my two year old son's hair - it pays for itself in just one cut when compared to the cost of a visit to the local barber!Instructions say you should 'oil' the blade before each use. Only a tiny tube of oil is included - no mention about buying refills, but I'm assuming it's easily available online!Frustratingly it doesn't say why you should oil the blade, either. A quick online search reveals the reasons: the oil reduces friction, which reduces heat, which reduces the chance of clipper 'rash' - something we've all experienced from time to time after visiting the barber. It also keeps the blade sharp and prolongs its life. Okay - sounds like I should buy replacement oil when the provided solution runs out!!My only complaint? It only comes with comb attachments sized 1 to 4. I would have actually preferred to additionally have sizes 6 and 8. But in fairness the description is clear regarding what is included, and I understand other sizes can be purchased.---VERDICT---Amazing value. So easy to usePros- Great value- Easy to useCons- Doesn't come with as many attachments as I'd have liked (but believe they can be separately purchased)

Just one haircut in, and these clippers have already paid for themselves. In fact they're cheaper than a cut from my local barbers. Can't complain with that. They cope well with my very dense hair, but I did have to go quite slowly. The guide combs are adequate, and have given an even cut. Be wary when storing them, as the plastic is quite soft, and I think they would bend/deform easily if not looked after. The cutting width is smaller than the Wahl 'standard' so replacement combs, or non standard length (i.e. #1.5) combs may be tricky to source. The blades are sharp, and cut cleanly with no scraggly bits of hair left sticking out, which was my fear. There are 2 reasons for not giving a full 5* review:1)Straight out of the box, the clippers had some bits of what looked like hair on the blades, as if they'd been previously used. However, the unit did appear new, so perhaps this was from a test cut, before they left the factory. I don't know.2) During use, the housing did get hot to the point where I had to stop and let it cool down for a few minutes before touching it again/continuing.To improve the product, a greater variety of guide combs could be included (up to #6 or #8) to increase the number of styles that could be cut. Although as a standard comb is included, I could just learn to guide the clipper with this.Further, a storage pouch/case of some kind would be useful. All in all a great value product, which I highly recommend.

I have just had my first 'go' with these clippers and am completely satisfied with them, and have not had any of the problems mentioned in other reviews. The only only slight criticism is a somewhat sketchy instruction leaflet, which doesn't really show you how things fit together, but once I'd got everything on show it wasn't at all difficult to figure out.The noise is not bad, I could still clearly hear my radio while using them, which I can't with my electric razor. After 10-15 minutes use they had heated up somewhat, but not to a degree where I was starting to worry about it.My main concern was ending up looking like a badly sheared sheep, but even on my first attempt I am absolutely delighted with the result. It looks very tidy, and apart from maybe a bit of minor trimming at the back won't have to worry about being seen in public!Oddly, although I started in front of a mirror, I found that off-putting because everything is reversed, and it is a lot easier just doing it by feel alone. So long as I took long slow sweeps there was no pulling at all, and the blades cut very cleanly. In short, I wish I'd got these years ago.

I received my clipper yesterday, and have just used it for the first time. It gives an excellent cut, which is very even. I have a No 1 cut, and I do this every three weeks because my hair grows quite quickly. I have not paid a barber for a haircut for over twelve years, because I could not believe the £9.50 I was charged for my last cut, so I paid him, and went to purchase my own clippers. I have done my own hair ever since. I was only sat in the chair for around two minutes. I save around £150 per year, that is based on the last haircut I paid for (This will be a lot more now because the prices will have risen in twelve years), and I will never pay a barber again because of the standard of cut the WAHL range gives.A family would save a lot more. I estimate I have saved around £2000 during those years.I always buy this make because of the very good quality, and the standard of cut they give.A pouch to store it in would have been welcome, but I have kept the pouch from my last clipper and I am using this. Taking into consideration the money that I am saving, this is not a problem.

These are cheap clippers but I chose Wahl as they make a whole range and as I intended to spend very little, a branded product made most sense.I have owned three pairs of clippers in the last ten years, these being my third set.Without doubt these feel the most solid and positive of these three. My last set lasted four years approximately but were never as positive feeling as these Wahl 100. I noticed these have a 3yr manufacturers guarantee, which is reassuring.I now have neat hair again and all for the cost of one and a half haircuts at the barber's. In fact I had them out of the box and cutting my hair within 10 mins of arriving. They slipped through the hair easily and smoothly and without a comb they trimmed up with no nips or pinches, even around my ears and back of the neck. Considering I was working on my own hair without a mirror just by feel, I was impressed at how smooth they were.I recommend these as top value for money. If you only get 10 cuts from them you have saved much more than you spent.Read full review...

My first encounter with Wahl clippers was a gift I received. The brand is probably the best around for clippers. Unfortunately, poor use on my part (not oiling up the blades) messed up my first Wahl Clipper, which was more expensive than the product on this page.I've gone bald recently and wanting to keep the style, decided to purchase this product and all I can say is that this Wahl clipper, for its price, is just as good as the more expensive Wahl clipper. You get everything you need here, the clip-on's to define the length you want off, a scissor, a comb, a small brush for cleaning and a small bottle of oil. The only thing missing is a nice case, and that's why I'm giving this 4 stars. Luckily, being a poor student, I'm content with keeping mine in the box it came in, but I doubt most people would like to do the same.If you buy this or any clipper for that matter, don't forget to keep it oiled!

Under £11 with P&P for WAHL clippers. I brought these for the brand, having grown up with my mum cutting me with her WAHLsI did consider the Remmington ones for a few quid more but was happy when this arrived today.I cut both my boys (3&5) within the first half hour making use of the scissors. Which were pretty decent also, considering you would think these would be of low quaility. The accessories are all well made and everything feels solid. The item is actually a matt black colour. With white writing. Not blue and gold like it appears in the main pic. Which is a plus. There's no plastic tray or a bag so everything is loose in the box. But not a huge problem, ill find an old travel bag to stick the bits in long term,_____________Just thought, my father in law brought clippers from a high street catalogue shop recently, for £22. These cut better and are easier to hold

Can get quite hot in the hand, and longer clips would've been better, but it is very good for the price. The taper lever is good, though I'm not very good at it and don't use it very often to taper, instead I use it to adjust the length of the clips. Has lasted 5 hair cuts so far and is going strong, with sharp blades cutting better than my previous clippers. Comes with oil to maintain the blades, which is very easy to do and keeps them sharper than my previous clippers which were supposed to be self maintained. If you wanted to try cutting your own hair, this is a good choice to test it out, and if you're looking for something very cheap as a replacement, I would recommend this. However,if you're looking for quality you're probably better off choosing another one for a few more pounds. Nevertheless, it still gets a 5 star rating as it is fantastic for the price.

I purchased these from Amazon to replace a pair from 9 years ago (they had been dropped & a part broken inside, and the cost of repair at Wahl was more than this replacement). These are not the lightest clippers, but at this price I can make a compromise. They are powerful and quiet and have saved me a lot of money having paid for them selves after two cuts.Included in the package is four comb attachments - more can be purchased quite cheaply on or off line, scissors, comb, cleaning brush and oil. Its important to clean and oil your clippers before and after every use in order to keep them in tip top condition and to extend their life.I would recommend purchasing a gown /cover to prevent hair getting on you clothes whilst cutting. Amazon themselves do not dell one but there are plenty of 3rd party sellers to buy from.

I bought these in 2012, i cut my hair every week. Even my friends use them also to cut there's. This product is still going strong and with over 200 cuts under it's belt, i have still not had to replace any part of the clipper. I bought these for less than £10 and they have truly paid for themselves over and over. I have had no flaws with this clippers, the only bit i renewed was the attachment i always use as it was showing wear and tear. Would highly recommend this product to anyone.UPDATE: With over 160+ haircuts under its belt, these are still going strong in 2019 (7 years on), still cutting hair twice a month and the only thing they needed was a clean and a sharpen.Highly recommend for anyone who likes to cut their own hair. To put into perspective, That's over £1,500 saved on haircuts, not bad for £10!

After reading the bad reviews of these I was expecting something a bit sub-par, I took the plunge anyhow because of the price (£7.99 at the time); you can always return as Amazon has a good policy with that.Overall, I find them good, the blades did not choke up or drag like the 1 star reviewers mention (quality control/manufacture might be different now they got a few bad reviews of them). The only downside I can find to them is that the blade guards are quite flimsy. This doesn't really affect anything in practise, but they just don't feel especially sturdy.Overall for the price I'm very happy. I would suggest though, that instead of bundling a pair of scissors and comb, they just put more emphasis on making the blade guards sturdier and skip superfluous items which are basically no good.

These hair clippers were purchased by me when I got fed up of sitting in a barbers chair for 5 minutes then handing over a tenner for the privilege. I also wanted to prove to my wife that I could easily cut my own hair (something she was confident I could not do). She was right and I was wrong, I did my hair and then went out to meet her at a meal with friends. Immediately she and friends starting laughing. It appears shaving the back of your head with no mirror isn't a recipe for a clean looking cut. I fear my 3 year old could have done a better job. HOWEVER, when in the right hands (i.e. my wife's) then I get a good clean cut and the best bit is, it saves me a fortune. Not gone wrong and would definitely recommend. I wondered why they were so cheap and am still wondering, absolute bargain.

After checking out some youtube tuitorials for cutting your own hair I thought I'd give it a go with these cheap clippers. The top end Wahl ones are about £50 but don't come with attachments (another £15). These ones come with everything you need (apart from a big mirror) to try out cutting your own hair.I'm been quite impressed - they do get a little hot, but are a good weight and feel well made. They have aleady paid for themselves (bought them for £10.50).I used to get my hair cut every 2 months, so that's £60 a year, now I can give it a quick cut every two weeks (which at £10 a cut would be about £170 a year!).I decided on getting these over the fancy 180 degree ones for self cutting asthis seems more of an industry standard and you can buy other attachments for longer hair.
