I have owned quite a few clippers in the 18 years I’ve been married. My husband has always preferred to have his hair cut at home and when we had boys, they preferred home haircuts as well. The boys have really thick hair and our last clippers just weren’t working very well without pulling. We decided to look for a really good pair of clippers figuring they would pay for themselves by not having to go to the barber. Plus, working well would make haircuts a little less of a hassle. After a lot of research, we went with the Wahl Elite Pro Haircutting Kit.I have to say that this really is a quality set and that is evident from the starting from the case. The case is a thick, sturdy plastic with a really nice latch on it that works so well. The clipper is very heavyweight but easy to grip even through three haircuts in one day. It’s definitely much quieter than the models we have previously chosen, so that was a bonus. Also, I can still feel my hands after cutting the boys’ hair, so the vibration isn’t too intense either. The clipper has a very long cord, so I can have the boys stand in the bathtub to catch the hair while I cut their hair and there is still room to move around. One of my boys has really thick hair, one has what I’ve been told is beaded hair and it’s very silky feeling, and my husband has thinner, soft hair. This cuts all three hair types without any problems at all.I’ve had this for a while now and I’d say it’s quite durable as it is still running just like the day I received it. The blades are still sharp and the guide combs still clip securely. The guide combs are a heavy plastic and they lock securely to the clippers when you are using them. The clips are stainless steel, so you can be sure they will last. The guide combs have the sizes embossed into the plastic as well as on the stainless steel clips, so you know exactly what size you are using each time. With three different people wanting three different lengths, that is a life saver for me. No more guess work from ink rubbing off and leaving me without guard sizes. The scissors that come with the set are high quality and come in a case. They are a rounded tip, so that makes me feel a lot safer about using them to clip any stray hairs around my boys’ ears. The set also comes with a very nice apron so you can contain the mess mostly. It also has a hair comb with both fine teeth and bigger ones. The entire set is a 21 Piece kit which includes: the premium clipper, clipper blade guard, premium storage case, guide combs: Numbers 1/2, 1, 1 1/2-3/16, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, large styling comb, blade oil, cleaning brush, stainless steel scissors, scissors blade cover, large nylon signature barbers cape, cord wrap, guide comb storage bag, and full color English and Spanish instructions and styling guide. This product is made in the USA and is made for use in USA electrical outlets only.Everyone in my family loves this hair clipper set and I can tell you that it has definitely already paid for itself.

As soon as I received the clippers, I turned them over to view the “bottom plate”, and my first reaction was “this is a used clipper!” I instantly recalled another post stating they had returned their order because it was a used clipper! I burst out laughing! I have worked with steel; stainless steel, and other metals most of my life, and I know that regular steel and stainless in the natural state may have that old, “used” look. So Wahl, I would respectfully suggest that you “buff the plate” so that it would be in keeping with the great looking clipper that it is – it truly detracts, cheapens, the overall appearance of a great looking clipper!I have owned several other brands of clippers over the years, but this was my first try with WAHL; so I read the instructions, oiled the clipper as instructed, turned it on and let it run a bit, wiped away excess oil, and popped on a #2 spacer, and began trimming my beard. It was a bit noisy, but it was quieter than the others I have owned. Not once, since I have been using the clippers, have they snagged a hair (we all know that painful feeling), and I was amazed as to how “smooth” my beard looked after I had completed trimming. Awesome! The heavy-duty cord is great, and although considerably longer than I needed, I “small-looped” it to what I thought was a perfect length, squeezed the loop, and tied it with a Velcro cinch. The case is very flimsy, and everything has to be arranged just so for all pieces to fit. (That been said, I did not buy the clippers based upon the quality of the storage case). I solved that inconvenience; since I only use the #2 or #3 spacer, I placed the spares in a Ziploc bag and stashed them in the cabinet for possible future use). I have since placed the clippers, spacer, oil, brush, etc., in an old faux-leather clipper case that I have, and it works perfectly. I also use a short handle, 1-1/2 “ soft hair cleaning brush from a previous clipper set. I am one happy man!I have used the clippers for several months now; I am very, very satisfied, and yes, I eagerly recommend the clippers to my friends. Due to the “used” looking faceplate and poor storage case, I will give it a 4 out of 5 rating.

Excellent clippers. I have shaved my head since my teenage years and now 34. I do it “gaurdless” to keep nice and short. I had previously been using some old Wahl Envoy cordless clippers which are professional ones (which I got at low price from Sally’s as my wife is a beauty therapist). The Envoy started to make an awful noise after nearly 10 years of use (and i could not use them without the cord as the battery was poor and the power was only satisfactory with the cord plugged in). The Envoy one is more comfortable and lighter to use, but not as good as the new Elite Pro set...Pros-Very clean cut due to the excellent blades and seriously powerful motor.Loads of attachments which are verywell made with harder plastic than usual so they don’t bend when in use (the metal clip also means they sit perfectly straight). The adjustable blades (when not using a guard) allows for close cuts in sensitive areas without catching the skin, but if you prefer the No. 1/2 guard is very close (e.g. for those that like to keep their privates trimmed).Very good hard case comes with it keeps everything neatly protected and looks nice on your shelves.Good length to the power cord making it easy to use in different rooms without the need for an extension (I use my kitchen as the floors are tiled).Great price for clippers of this quality and the amazing selection of high quality accessories.Cons- (hardly any in my opinion). Some people may find it too heavy. I enjoy weight lifting and I’m well built but my muscles were a little sore after use but this is not an issue to me as the Pros above out weight this. For me the weight gives confidence in the quality and power of the motor. It comes with the standard tiny oil bottle, however I already have a larger bottle which you can get on Amazon for a small amount of money which lasts years. In summary this is the best set of clippers I have owned and expect them to last at least 10 years with use every 2-3 weeks as my previous Wahl clippers have done, maybe longer. So I would recommend these to anyone, unless you feel weight is an issue (e.g. someone with shoulder pain in your dominant arm).

Excellent cutters, they really power right through cutting hair on the head and trimming beards up before a shave. In my house I cut my own hair and my niece and nephew's as it saves a lot of cash every month for ourselves and they don't want to go to anyone else to have them cut their hair because they trust me and like how I do it far more than their past experiences with barber shops. I also cut my brother's hair as well with it this weekend and he's happy with the result. I've been cutting my own hair for a couple years now and the money that I save with that alone makes for part of the money for vacations and so on.I've noticed that these clippers at this time after doing several headsor hair that the blades are nice and sharp and have given no issues at all with powering through the thick heads of hair that the kids have and even my own. It cuts like butter, It should seeing as it's new though but the true test will come into play at the end of the year to see how they have held up with doing about 4-5 cuts a month with everyone that needs their hair trimmed up. It doesn't heat up as quick as my older set but it does need a little break after each head so that it can cool back down. I generally wait a good 30-60 minutes between heads so that it can be nice and cool. I tend to like to get it all done in a single day so that it's only one clean up. A lot of the time I will mix in the other clippers for edging up so that I can make sure that each unit stays as cool as possible. Don't over heat your hair clippers as each time you do it will do a little bit of damage which can add up over time. The attachments that came with these are okay but it would have been nice to get a set of the smaller 1/4 sizes instead of just the whole number sizes that it came with. but that's not a big deal as using the adjustment handle can help alleviate the need for them but not entirely. They ones that came with the unit do have a nice metal clip that holds onto the cutting head instead of just plastic so they should last a nice long time.

I am a bit ashamed to say I have told my husband to use the dog clippers on his beard since he grew it out recently. He had thrown out his old WAHL clippers (that worked perfectly well) when he had started clean shaving again, and that was a mistake. But i had googled it and it said that people can use Dog clippers but dogs can not use Human clippers. So, it seems dog clippers are of higher quality than human clippers as their hair is more coarse and dense. Our dog clipper is "Wahl U-Clip Pro Home Pet Grooming Kit, by Wahl Professional Animal" and it features "Powerful and quiet, 7200 strokes per minute, professional high performance steel blades". I don't know how many strokes per minute this Deluxe pro kit uses.Maybe they should list it. They only list "15% more power vs Wahl POWERDRIVE MOTOR". ELITE PRO also claims "cuts hair 40% faster vs. wahl standard precision blades.Anyway, I know it is kind of a bizarre comparison, but dog clippers work really well on humans and are probably of higher quality than most. What sets this clipper above the rest (and above the dog clippers) is the classy "secure fit" stainless steel attachment clips on the guide combs and its guide combs are "70% stronger". It appears that this is the most ELITE and PRO of all the Wahl clippers, and at this price point you really can't beat all the accessories it comes with. The hair cutting cape is something I would never think to purchase and it is Brilliant. Ten guide combs is generous and awesome. My husband said he used 4 on his beard alone. He looked really good and neatly trimmed, superior precision. I think he had been avoiding using the dog clippers. The styling comb was also very nice and was strong enough to comb through his beard. The included shears are just an extra bonus. This kit is really generous on all the extras. The case it comes in is really good to, similar to what you may get at a hardware store as a tool case. Are these clippers tough enough to use on a dog? Honestly I don't know and thankfully don't have to find out.

I have owned several Wahl clippers over the years. Two were purchased at Walmart....I can honestly say that this is the BEST one we've had so far. I use it to cut my boy's hair. So, every 4-6 wks. the hair clippers need to be ready to shear the Boykins. I didn't really expect much of a difference with this one compared to the other two I've had...but there was. Much sharper blade, size clips are very secure when placed over cutting blade and are a thicker plastic than traditional ones included with lower end Wahl clippers. I'm hoping that this will last and stay sharp for many years to come. Just as an FYI, the first one I bought I had for a few years before it just died. The second one I had was also a few years old before "someone" (funny how no one knows who or when or why that happened...go figure, the "Not Me's" did it again!) dropped it and broke one of the teeth which didn't allow the clips to stay attached and didn't trim well. I'm keeping this one in a "safe place"....hopefully my age will not allow for me forgetting where that is....I expect to have many years with this clipper and so far with one day of shearing, I'm very happy.I will say that you are better off buying a salon style cape as the one included (which I somehow missed that it was included) is not very big. Doesn't cover much. I used a salon one with this one over the back for "just in case". Speaking of cases, this one comes with a nice durable outer case and a pouch on the inside to store whatever you want in it. The included comb and scissors are a joke over all. Nice thick comb but GIGANTIC (would be great though for very thick hair), the scissors are as dull as a lecture on a Tsetse fly's habitat so don't count on them to actually cut anything well...I do believe that without proper sharpening they will damage the hair, sharp scissors are a must for a good healthy cut.So, there you have it. My opinion.

I used a barber for my haircuts forever... well, 45 years which feels like forever anyway! My wife has said on several occasions that she could do my hair, and I was kind of "No chance, I'll stick to the barber!" Fearing the worst, obviously.:-)A week ago, I went to get my hair cut, a month after I really needed a trim, and found the barber was closed. Upon my return home I started to think "I 'm struggling to find time to get my hair cut these days, busy life and all that. And I don't just want anyone to cut my hair as it's a personal thing. So I mentioned to my wife that she could do it, if she still wanted to.My wife then jumped at the opportunity and said "We need a quality set of clippers,Wahl is the best brand".So she chose this Elite Pro Hair Clipper Kit... duly purchased from Amazon.I was surprised at how weighty the clipper actually is, expecting it to feel light and plasticky. Instead it has a real quality feel to it that gives the impression it will last for years. The accessories impressed me also, a full range of combs for the various lengths of hair as well as scissors, a normal comb and a gown. All for £45!Bargain!Anyway, I'm waffling now. Suffice to say that I have had my first haircut with this kit tonight, and I'm really chuffed with the results.I told work colleagues that my better half was going to cut my hair for me, and joked that I hoped I didn't get the full "Walter White" And that if I came in to work on Monday wearing a Heisenberg hat, they'd know it didn't go so well! :-DAs it happens, I look pretty much the same as when I've paid a tenner for my haircut, so it isn't going to take very long before the Wahl Elite Pro kit has paid for itself. An excellent investment to save you money, so look no further and buy one!

The primary requirement of a hair clipper and blade is that it cut hair easily and accurately. It's important to have that sweet spot between too light and flimsy (which means it will break the first time it slips off a table) and too heavy, which causes fatigue for the hair cutter. Though my experience with hair cutters has been limited to the Oster brand, I'm pleased to say this Wahl has exceeded my expectations. The clipper body is contoured to the hand which reduces hand cramping and increases the user's ability to maneuver the clipper as needed. There is some vibration as is to be expected when you're holding a motor in your hand, but the vibration is not significant (at least with my set of clippers)and didn't cause any discomfort. The clipper housing remains cool for the duration of the hair cut and only begins to warm up after several haircuts. Even this it isn't uncomfortably warm. The kit comes with literally everything you need to complete a haircut without searching for scissors, combs, etc. around your home. The kit proivdes a selection of blade sizes and comb sizes for precise cutting. Though it's too early to know if the blades will remain sharp for a long time, they are certainly sharp and ready to cut out of the box. The combs are heavy plastic with metal attachments and allow the cutter to cut hair to the length desired. The clippers come with a long cord which means you can easily move from front to back and side to side when giving a haircut. When you're all finished, use the small blade brush to brush out any hair from the blades and store everything in the handy (and very sturdy) storage box.Wahl has done a great job in designing and manufacturing these clippers. They should provide years of service if treated well.

I've been using a Wahl clipper for about 10 years. I bought the inexpensive MC2 model from a drug store and it has lasted all this time without any problems. I've been happy with my old Wahl, but was excited to give the "Elite Pro" model a try. For the most part, I liked it a lot.Right away, I could tell the difference in the way the blade cut my hair using the Elite Pro. It's possible that my old clippers have a dull blade so anything with a new blade would've been quite noticeable. Still, I was impressed at how quickly the blade cut through my hair. It did snag on me right above to ears on both sides, though, which was a bit unnerving. Maybe I didn't put enough oil on the blades before getting started with the new blade?I have a 4 ounce bottle of Wahl oil and was generous applying it after I finished my cut. The cord on the Elite Pro is definitely a heavy duty cord compared to the MC2 model I have. The plastic body seems durable, but doesn't seem as rugged as I'd expect an "elite pro" model to be.The accessories that come with the Elite Pro are nice to have. The guides with the metal clips are a premium quality over the cheap plastic-only ones that my old clippers came with. The plastic case looks nice on the outside and does hold all the accessories and clipper inside, but it's not molded specifically to hold the clipper in place. Think of it as an old metal lunchbox where you just throw everything in together.I like the Wahl Elite Pro clippers and if you cut hair at home, they're a good set and will pay for itself in just a few cuts.

I have used many clippers in the past, some have just died, others were dropped by accident and stopped working. I had a few good sets and many poor quality sets. This set of clippers ranks around the top end of those I have used in the past. In fairness, pretty much all Wahl clippers are going to be a safe bet on quality and this pro set certainly lives up the the brand name. They have a very strong and solid feel in the hand. They power through the thickest of hair without dragging and are moderately quiet compared to others I have tried. As with all clippers, there is a little vibration in hand, but not so bad it turns your hand numb.I have used some cordless clippers before, but the batteries were always flat when I needed them the most, so I was quite happy to have a corded set. They come in a neat box to store all the combs and scissors. On the point of combs, these are good quality combs, a little give in them as expected, but not bending and flexing to the point that it affects the cut. There are more combs than I really need as I just stick to the same few sizes, but there are enough to get experimental with and get and exact size you want.Wahl keep re-inventing the wheel with new clippers and whilst they all perform and do the same job of cutting hair, they do keep improving the clippers and this is one such example of production moving forward

These clippers are as good as I expected from Wahl. They are more quiet than I expected being that they have a relatively powerful motor. They clip hair extremely well without grabbing, pinching, or binding. I was getting ready to use them to cut my hair myself and my wife told me that she wanted to give it a try to see if she could learn to do it. We read over the user guide that came with the clippers, and she was able to cut my hair as well as the average employee of a walk-in chain hair cutter. The clippers did get quite warm, almost uncomfortably so for her as she cut my hair, but she was taking her time since it was the first time she had tried it, so the clippers were running a good majority of about 40 min.The only reason my rating is at 4 stars instead of 5, is the packaging. The clippers came in a plastic case, and it seemed that all of the parts were just thrown in the case with no sense of order or care to protect the clipper blades, there was no protection on the blades at all, and the case was just a plastic shell, no foam or molding, or anything really to keep the items inside from rattling around inside during transport. Overall, I suppose I shouldn't complain, because nothing was damaged inside, but I'm not confident that everyone's story would turn out the same way.

The packaging and manual on this kit seem to disagree about whether to oil the clippers before first use, but I don't think that's a huge deal. The guide combs have engraved metal identification numbers, so those should continue to be easy to read as time goes by. The clippers work well and have a longer cord than was on our previous haircutting kit, so we can go farther away from the wall while using them. Our kit arrived with a broken guide comb (which I really can't explain, given the fact that the kit comes in a hard-sided case, unless the comb was wedged sideways when the case was closed before leaving the factory). I sent an email to Wahl on May 27th about the comb and received a response on June 1st giving me a phone number to call for a replacement.I called--the wait wasn't long, and the first representative I spoke to was able to help me--and received a new guide comb approximately a week later. Our previous haircutting kit came with a wide-toothed comb with handle; this one comes with a fine-toothed comb (at least by comparison). Our first couple haircutting experiences went fine--no complaints, so far as I'm aware. Hair didn't seem to catch badly and was cut as effectively as I'd expect.I hope this kit will serve us for years to come.

For years I would just buy the cheapest $15 or $20 set of clippers I could find and use them for a year or so before they fell apart, then rinse and repeat. Maybe its because I haven't been to a barber in 20 years or so (and so just haven't been exposed to actually good clippers for a long time) but I was just assuming that clippers are clippers, so why spend more than the bare minimum? Apparently, I've been quite wrong and wasted a ton of money. As soon as I picked them up for the first time I could tell a massive difference. There is a solidness of construction to them. They have weight. The guides are similarly better quality, with metal instead of plastic clips. And turning them on they have a nice, quiet, gentle hum so far removed from the buzzsaw (also Wahls, just bottom of the barrel) that were my last set that I couldn't believe it. Most importantly, they cut like a hot knife through butter. No snagging or tearing. Nor do they heat up excessively.I know these aren't even amazing as far as what you can get, but they're worlds above that cheapo set you can pick up at CVS or what have you. Don't be like me. Spend a little more, the difference is worth it.

The cutter has more weight, is a bit bulkier and more top-heavy than the two cheaper home cutters I’ve owned. While this requires a stronger, steadier hand, it also makes it easier to set and guide the cutter on the person’s head. It vibrates more as well but the motor has a consistency and power the others lacked – it’s also quieter and lower in ‘pitch’. This isn’t a toy or a cheap consumer-grade item. The guide combs snap on easily but solidly and the release tab is effortless – no hassle at all.The male ‘subject’ I tried the cutter on has fairly thick, wavy hair and reported no discomfort or excessive noise – and yeah, he was pleased with the cut.I’m not a pro but I learned a long time ago from a pro roommate and even my wife is confident-enough to let me do occasional trims. The pouches, scissors (love the cap cover on the scissors!) and comb included with the kit make for a attractive and function package –While it’s targeted to the home user it can hold up to pro use. For what it’s worth, I checked with my local haircutter whether or not she’d heard of Wahl and she confirmed “Oh yeah, they’re the standard”.Bottom Line: Solid, Feels like the Real Deal

While the credit card bore my wife's monitor - it was her incredible, slender and thoughtful husbandwho did the actual search and seek home barbering kit. (It may have been her birthday present - Iactually don't remember. I am also known for my huge generosity! - he admits - modestly). And - YES - the Elite Hi Performance kit worked - admirable. In huge part - no doubt - because I have a much admired (and envied) head; the pillar of most (if NOTall!) AKC show rings. But - in my constant willingness to share the spotlight - my wife showed what an accomplished operatorshe is with this remarkable tool. AND the equally wonderful tools that made her first effort a monstrous success.IF her 'second'effort equals (or exceeds) her initial trial run - we may just take up a Clip 'n Ship French Poodle Parlor.OR - as an optional choice - I well may treat myself to a higher level of distilled spititus - provided by the head shakingsavings on the cost of my 'home hair care provider - much to peeved and aggrieved annoyance of my formal barber.** Who wore his own hair shoulder length and played operatic aurias way too loud! MOST of them in a foreign tongue!
