This is a very smooth bit of kit which does the job it claims to do. Copes with my beard . With one or two runs, and with care can be used to vary the length from 10 mm down and with some skill from even longer perhaps. Mine varies from about 10 mm to 5 and then 3. great care is needed at the joins but it can be done .The vacuum cleaner is superb.. I dont need to clean the basin any more. Once again you need to get used to it. When it appears full, empty it out. You will think it could hold a lot more but if too full it starts missing hair.Why have I given it only 4 stars ? Well, I was very worried at first by the plastic to plastic joints. How long will they last ? I can't see any way of repairing them if they break.

I have consistently had problems with beard trimmers tugging at my facial hair which is rather thick. With this Philips trimmer, it whizzes my beard off with almost no effort! The motor seems powerful enough to cut, and offers enough suction to collect about 50 percent of the hair. The noise during operation is a satisfying humming noise. The battery is about 30 minutes run in and no warning light yet. The comb sits still on selection of a shave setting. The shave length is very even, but only after a few passes.On the down side, it shipped with a UK 3 pin plug! Why, considering most modern UK bathrooms are fitted with European 2 pin sockets. The blade and comb attachment seems fiddly and feels like a weak point in the design.

I bought this to replace an earlier version that had eventually died. Initially I thought it felt of cheaper manufacture - being more plastic and less metal, then I found that the lesser weight made it much easier to use and the vacuum and blades work just as well as on my previous version. Charging time is much shorter and the indication as to whether it needs charging and when it is fully charged was much improved. Overall very efficient and good value. Worth the money.

I don't actually use this for trimming the beard but for the head, to mow my hair down to 0.5mm. I used to use several Philips QT4050 before, and while being quite good, this one here beats them. It's perfect for the job, or as near as I've ever had a clipper/trimmer do the job. Neat and quick, no mess thanks to the effective little built-in vacuum. Should stock up for the future.

Great trimmer, no fiddly pieces to change or get lost. Just dial up the length of stubble you want and you'r set. Great at sucking up the stubble you take off, the odd hair escapes though but who cares. Brilliant product, you always get what you pay for... Quality.

Over all good trimmer, I'm happy. Good battery running time, short charging time, precision trim. The only downside- it's not waterproof what makes it slightly awkward to clean- you have to use the provided brush to clean it inside. But it's not a big deal.

Sold body but plastic top so handle with care. Picks up a lot but not all hair and its easy to use. Changing cutting length is easy and it doesn't tug at your beard - phew. Well worth under £40 here but not if you pay the £80 in some other places.

It cuts and trims well and holds its charge for a long time. The only downside is that the detachable head unit is secured to the razor with very thin plastic protrusions. Great care needs to be taken to avoid these being broken.

Love this trimmer great battery life and design. It have nearly 10 settings for length. Abd the vacuum actually works little hairs to pick up or clean. Also amazing value was nearly half price on ebay

The downsides are you cannot wash the machine part, only the individual heads and the battery life is short, and long hairs clump and clog. Apart from that it's perfect.

This is a very good trimmer with the added advantage of the vacuum feature that sucks in the trimmed hair.I also like the range of different length settings available.

Bear in mind it does catch 90% of the beard hair so there will be some hair escaping on to the bathroom floor.Charges really quick, nice rubber button.

Had many beard trimmers and this is by far the best.Gives you a nice even close shave and it catches most of the trimmings.Would recommend this machine.

Well made trimmer that takes a bit of time to get use to using. Vacuums short hairs well. Good for designer stubble longer hair more of an art.

I had the previous model which was quiet large. This is slimmer and collects more hair but not as easy to empty/clean.Great at trimming.
