As a BIG fan of the original LEGO Movie, and of the sets in particular, I was really looking to the second instalment of both. The first movie’s sets were met with a varied reception, but I thought they were great for the most part, and I was lucky enough to collect them all while they were still available for not stupid prices. The second movie hasn’t hit cinemas yet but it looks like a typically fun follow-up to its predecessor. The sets, on the other hand, look a bit of a mixed bunch, at least those that have been announced do, and I’m not overly tempted by many of them. Of the early offerings, the Pop-Up Party Bus was the one that caught my eye the most, maybe because it’s the biggest of the bunch or maybe because it looks like the bus from the 1976 comedy movie, The Big Bus. Whatever, it looks like a lot of fun.In the box you allegedly get four minifigures, although two are the Friends-like dolls and two are brick-built, so none realty count as true minifigures, at least not to me. That’s not a terrible thing, but I do like getting minifigures in the box; at least Disco Kitty (another variant of the ever-popular Unikitty) is here to make things better, and this version does look a little funkier than in the last movie. The set itself comprises 1023 pieces all-told, which works out at something like 8p per brick, lower than the 10p per brick standard that gets AFOLs so worked up. A lot of those pieces are on the small side, and the resulting bus isn’t as massive as the piece count suggests, but it seems pretty good value nonetheless. As a build, the Pop-Up Party Bus is engaging but not overly difficult, I doubt even for its designated target audience. Build time for me was around the 2 hour 45 minute mark, but someone with more discipline who doesn’t stop every thirty seconds to double-check the instructions could do it a bit quicker. As I said, the finished bus isn’t as big as you might think given its 1023 pieces, but it has a heft to it that belies its size and goes some way to showing that many of the pieces are actually on the inside – a hollow shell this isn’t.Once complete, the Pop-Up Party Bus is funkiness personified; from the huge canopy on the front to the jet engines at the back, this thing could easily feature in any number of science fiction movies. The colours used in the build might not be to everyone’s tastes, but they suit the bus perfectly and would be great for MOCers, particularly the large trans pieces on the front and top; you also get a light brick, which is always a welcome addition,As a play thing, the Pop-Up Party Bus doesn’t really do that much, which is fine for collectors but not so great for those who actually like to play with their toys. Aside from the whole thing opening up (which I’d hardly call a play feature), there’s a couple of rotating dance floors but that’s almost it. The light brick is used well, to power a rotating disco ball, and this feature works better than I expected; it’s not as great as the similarly-powered shadow theatre from the Temple of Airjitzu, but it is on par with the Ultimate Batmobile’s Bat signal. As an almost grown-up boy, I can say with certainty that the Pop-Up Party Bus wouldn’t have appealed to 9-year-old me in the slightest; it just doesn’t have enough guns (actually, none), but I’ll admit that I’m not and probably wouldn’t have been in LEGO’s demographic for this. A few more play features wouldn’t have gone amiss (especially given the piece count), as would the inclusion of a couple of minifigures, but I will admit that it does look great, and collectors and MOCers will go nuts for the overall look and for the pieces, respectively.

Here’s yet another in a very long line of movie tie-in Lego sets, this one being a whacky disco bus plus characters from the Lego Movie II. It comes in customary brightly coloured Lego packaging, with all parts in plastic bags inside, plus the all-important constructions instructions. When assembled, the bus is about 30 cm long and 24cm tall, a good size for a kit priced close to £80 (December 2018). It takes a while to assemble. We played around with it over two full days, though to be honest we weren’t really paying attention to the instructions and had to redo a couple of assemblies. The children were quicker at it than the adults. The 9+ on the box is about right. Our six-year-old (and enthusiastic Unikitty fan)had a go but got confused with it all. There are over a thousand bits and pieces to assemble, and it is a bit fiddly here and there, but a lot of fun to do.As with many such kits, this one contains many parts (and is very specific colours) that are really only useful for making this one model. I know a few grown-up Lego collectors, and they just build the kit as-is and leave it at that. The infamous Millennium Falcon kit for example, I’ve only ever seen as that one model, never cobbled together to make anything else. As such, I think of these kits more like jigsaws – they make just the one picture. If Lego Movie II is a big thing for you, then this is a wonderful set to own and build. It’s not cheap, but you do get a vast number of bits and the resulting model makes a toy every bit as psychedelic and mad as Unikitty.

As a small boy my parents bought me so much Lego, it is frightening to think how much they spent. The bricks and shapes I could create kept me fascinated for hours. I remember my finest "creation" was built from a box of "Technical" lego and it was a motorised crane. I still have it all in a great big Lego floor bag. Sadly the instructions to build the crane has gone, but it does not stop the next generations from using their imaginations and creativity to build things from the innocent looking bricks. When Vine offers Lego sets I, of course, grab them, but nowadays, I ensure they are not mixed up with the general bag and the boxes and instructions are kept. This set is part of a set that focuses on a Party Bus,two figures and a cat and a dog. It contains bricks to build an interactive Bus, complete with turntable. This is a medium set to build and is suitable for ages from 6 years old. Once built, Lego is about imagination and this set will "fire" up the young imagination. It's a nice set and is incredibly interactive. The bus is driven by one of the animals, the side hinges out and it reveals the turntables. I believe the characters are based on the Lego movie. It is a nice set and I am happy to Recommend it.

This is a fun Lego kit from the Lego movie franchise. The party bus features over 1000 pieces and there are lots of details inside and outside of the bus, which make this a stunning piece to make and will definitely be an eye catching build. I have set this aside for me to build over Christmas with my kids. It has a step by step manual for the build, as do most Lego sets and pieces are bagged into separate bags. There are build-able character pieces included, Unikitty as Disco Kitty and Zebe, plus Tempo and Melody mini-doll figures. The bus features an opening cockpit area for the Zebe figure, an opening roof and sides, foldout loudspeakers, a Lego light brick to light up the dance floor, which rotates, a flip-up disco ball with translucently colored elements and smoothie drinks and a microphone. The Pop-Up Party Bus measures over 9” (24cm) high, 11” (30cm) long and 9” (23cm) wide so there is plenty of room for play and for recreating your favourite fun scenes from the movie. Unikitty and Zebe stands at around 2.5/3” (8cm) tall. With Tempo and Melody at roughly an 1.5/2" tall.

We really enjoyed this Lego set, particularly as we had just seen the movie. It's a medium-sized build and takes a couple of hours for a 7 year old and an adult to make. My son really liked the non-minifigure figures included in this set - the "Duplo" alien with the rotating eye, and the brick build versions of Disco Kitty and Zebe. We have A LOT of Lego, and we also loved the fact this set was so colourful and included colours that were new to us. There aren't a whole lot of play features, but the light brick is a fun addition, as were the rotating dance floors. We also got the Ultra-Katty and Warrior Lucy set and my son had fun bringing both sets together and riffing off the madness we saw in the movie. It's quite a satisfying set from a build point of view but, all in all, this set probably doesn't have the play value some sets have. Obviously, amazing quality and brilliant instructions, as per always with Lego.

This certainly is not the usual Lego piece to be assembled but it was great fun. There are plenty of pieces so set aside a bit of time and space on the table. As usual with Lego, all the parts are in separate plastic bags and the construction instructions - which you will need to pay attention to.Some of the pieces are small and fiddly. There's certainly no room for butter fingers. LOL!!It is a nice tie in with Lego Movie II and looks cool when completed especially with the figures which come with the kit. The bus opens out revealing sides and roof, loudspeakers which foldout and even a disco ball. It's a great Lego kit with hours of fun especially when you have other Lego kits.Sure you can make your own little Lego movie. Love it.

This Pop-Up Party Bus from the Lego Movie 2 is quite an impressive sight when fully built, which takes a while at over 1,000 pieces :) It's really different to anything else we have and the disco theme easily works for boys and girls. The bus itself is a fairly big size and there are lots of little details inside as you'd expect as well as disco features including the light brick when it's opened up. Comes with 4 movie characters along with the bus and overall is well made as you'd expect from Lego and decent value. The disco theme may not be for everyone, but most kids would probably be happy with it because of the movie tie-in.

The new LEGO movie isn't out until February 19th, 2019 in the UK so I don't know where this party bus will feature in the story but it's a pretty satisfying build and features two "human" characters, Melody and Tempo and two "brick" characters, Disco Kitty and Zebe, respectively.I'm sure kids aged 9 and over will have a great time playing with it, taking the role of DJs and dancers. For me, though, LEGO is all about creativity so after the movie hype is over and done with, the fun you can have with the bricks will truly begin, especially the included light brick (batteries included).

Better get the BIG hobby board out as this is going to take a bit of time to put together. Unless you've a LOT of spare time on your hands maybe even a few days.Wonderful party bus kit, promoting the new Lego movie (can't wait!).War and Peace sized (not really) instruction manual, but as ever make sure you pay attention.Way more interesting than some of the Lego kits I've built recently, so a return to form forLego in my eyes. It's not cheap but Lego never was. Brilliant memento of what will hopefully be another classic movie.

This is a massive box of LEGO and as usual the contents don’t disappoint. I like the way the packaging has tried to become more gender neutral but I still think that it is will appeal more to the girls. It ties into the movie which is due out in February.Although expensive there’s loads of play value in the bigger sets. I love the colour pallet of these bricks and enjoyed building the model using Lego’s easy to follow instructions. The quality of Lego is undeniably high and this would make an ideal gift.

Bought it for my daughter. Turned out as a perfect gift for both the kids. My son (age 10) was very happy to build it, and my daughter (age 7) is still playing with it on a daily basis.A little bit flimsy at some places, but still absolutely playable. They have way more than enough toys, but this one stayed out and she enjoys playing with it. ?

This set contains bricks to build a 30 x 22 cm long disco bus as well as figures and other extras. The bricks are contained in little see through bags so it can be built in stages. It is a colourful set which will keep an active mind busy for ages. The attention to detail is excellent as you would expect from Lego sets.

We couldn't wait to undo this box and start and boy did we stick at it until it was done.. The same lego quality you've come to expect over all these years and some fantastic colours in this set. Great easy instructions and the finished product was pretty darn cool. We love it.

I am a big fan of Lego, My favourite 'toy' since I was 5 (I am now 55!). I love the Lego movies too and this is a cracking vehicle to build. Very colourful, lots of working features should keep you busy whilst constructing it and playing with it afterwards.

Very sturdy lego kit and brilliantly colourful. The interactive elements are great and this gift went down a treat for these reason. Took a reasonable amount of time to build which my daughter enjoyed the process. Would recommend.
