Have been playing this game a little bit now, just the first 2 levels. I have to say it's a fun game, but it's different from the other Lego games. E.g. the characters move like real Lego characters, not like the smooth moving characters from the previous games, I think this has to do with The Lego Movie. If you are, like me, used to the smooth moving characters, you will need to adjust your gameplay a little bit. Also driving vehicles is not as easy/straight forward as with Lego Marvel Super Heroes, for instance when you crash your car into an object/building you need to reverse out of it while steering either left or right, than when you want to drive away and counter steer, the car just goes straight, and if you crashed into a build, you will crash into the building again.I have played most of my Lego games on the Wii, but since the new games are not available anymore on Wii I had to buy the PS3 versions. When I played my first game on the PS3 I had to get used to the "new" controls, with this game I have to get used to the controls again. But like all the other Lego games, this is another fun game and it seems like there is enough exploring of the hub to keep me occupied for several hours. When I have more experience with this game, I will update my review.=========================================Update 11 June 2014I finished Story Mode and am now busy replaying all the levels in Free Play. The best thing I like about the cut scenes in this game is you can press triangle to skip the whole scene, I was getting really annoyed with Lego Batman 2 and Lego Marvel when there was a very long cut scene, which was just very long because of the voices and there was no way of skipping it in Story Mode. Switching to another character by quickly tapping triangle isn't as smooth as with the Lego Marvel for instance, if you press triangle just half a second too long it won't switch, but if you press triangle for 1 second too long, it pops up the character wheel, like other Lego games had (and just like Jack Sparrow's compass in Lego Pirates of the Caribbean), which can be a bit of a problem/a bit annoying when you are attacked dozens of robots. The seperate hubs aren't very big, which is a bit disappointing, especially when you have played Lego Marvel, Lego Batman 2 or Lego LotR. Having to go to an other hub does take a bit long, I wish they connected all hubs together into 1 big hub, that would have been nicer and more fun, since you would be able to drive the vehicles more than 2 blocks. But the hub are okay to explore. In this Lego game they introduced "computer hacking", "master building", "Lord Business switches", "secret knocks", "construction workers skills" and "blind courage", which does give this rather small game something special, which is nice. It makes you having to use a lot more different characters to get to the next level, so it is challenging in it's own way.Because the hubs are so small, flying around isn't as much fun as with Lego Marvel or Lego Batman 2. Also you can't fly too high, because the invisible ceiling seems to be sloping down. This does take the fun a bit out of flying in the hubs. When you do Free Play, flying actually helps you getting through the level a bit easier, especially if you need to cross a big gap or if you need to climb up quickly.Even though Superman is in this game, he doesn't have the same abilities as in Lego Batman 2. He does have flight, super strength and laser eyes, but doesn't have x-ray vision nor freeze breath. I think they could have added something with the x-ray vision, and the freeze breath would have been nice to extinguish fires, but unfortunately they didn't.If you want to reach 100% and get all trophies, one of the trophies is "Business, business, business", which means you need to get 1,000,000,000 studs, which, to me, doesn't make sence, given you can't purchase vehicles (since they are freely available), the special pants are for free, and the most expensive character are President and Lord Business (both 1,000,000 studs), so now I have over 997,000,000 studs, which is just rediculous. But it makes getting the rest of the red bricks and purchasing all the characters very easy, given you don't need to go and collect studs, in order to just have enough to buy 1 red brick (given you don't use multipliers). You do need a walkthrough if you want to collect all the gold instruction manuals, because some are very difficult to spot (even the red brick "gold instruction manual detector" doesn't point out everything as well), so I suggest search the internet for "Lego Movie videogame walkthrough" and look for a good extensive walkthrough (either video or text format), so you have help in case you get stuck. But the fun factor is still there, and just like all the other Lego videogames this can keep you busy for quite some hours. The best thing about this game is, you can skip cut scenes, even in Story Mode. Eversince they introduced voices in their cut scenes (from Lego Batman 2), the cut scenes became annoyingly long, and I have never been convinced the voices add something to the game, instead it takes away what Lego stands for, i.e. "you are only limited by your imagination" (ofcourse given you have an unlimited resource of Lego bricks ;-) ). But by pressing triangle you can skip all these cut scenes.

I picked this up at my local game store that was doing a small low key launch event for those customers that pre-ordered it. I've Been playing it for the past several hours and like every other Lego game this doesn't disappoint with lots of puzzles along the way. While it doesn't match the movie in every regard for the most part they have succeeded with most of those epic sections of the movie making it into the game. Those clips of the movie that find their way into the game are indeed fantastic, LEGO clips usually are and are especially fun to watch! Graphics also impress on the Xbox One and i have no complaints in this area.Sadly from what I've played so far some parts are on the boring and repetitive side which isn't aided by the fact there is no online co-op either, only local split screen! Sure some of the things that you have to do and the scenery you come across looks great and indeed the character list may be on the long and varied side including voice-overs from Liam Neeson and Morgan Freeman but you get the sense (i certainly do having played a good few hours of this game) that it was created to fill a void rather than because people demanded it and i say that as a huge Lego fan. I do like the new master build ability which most characters have and enable you to visualize what to do/use to proceed. The character Emmett is key in this game as you need instructions and once you find them, Emmett is the only one that can use them to build certain things which can be frustrating at times but it's all part of the lego experience.Pros: Graphically it looks great and ties in well to the movie with some epic cut scenes * lots of characters * voice-overs are stunning * endless replay value with different characters to explore hidden areas *Cons: Fans of other Lego games will have seen many of the puzzles before * boring compared to other lego games (just a personal opinion having recently played the Lego:Marvel game which was brilliant).VERDICT: Like all Lego games this is fun and easy to play and despite some tedious and boring parts the experience on offer is great. The cut scenes are a bonus and joy to watch and really step it up a level especially aided by the matching voices which really impress. I will finish by saying the graphics look great on Xbox One and glad i got that version rather than the 360 version, Hardened Lego fans will love it and i Recommend it to you, especially if you want a laid back and relaxing gaming experience!Update 19th Feb 2014: I have virtually completed the game at 97% (after a few playthroughs), sadly the game seems to have a bug or glitch preventing me from fully finishing it off. I enjoyed playing it and still recommend it, one piece of advise i will give is make sure you have multiple saves in case the same thing happens to you so you can load a save that isn't bugged!

I purchased this game for my two sons aged 5 and 8. My eldest son loves the various Lego games available - we have the Marvel games, DC games, Hobbit, etc. They really enjoyed the film so we got the game as a special treat for them. I will not deny - I am a lover of lego and have played the game myself. It follows the film well - although there are some levels where you complete tasks that are not in the film but elongate the game. For example there is a level when cloud cookoo land is attacked by bad cop where you have to help free various characters from micro managers and a level when the submarine they are escaping cloud cookoo land with is flooding and you need to swim underwater for some time.It does however follow the locations of the film and there are a lot of videos direct from the film. There are a few things about Lego games that I don't like - one is that there are a lot of up close shots of characters when they are talking, but their mouths arent moving. It doesnt happen all the time, but is really painfully noticable that the programming wasn't great in certain parts. Also there are parts that are really glitchy. There are bits when you can climb things and you get stuck in some sort of non existant hole. Its hard to tell sometimes on lego games which parts you can jump on and I have personally found bits near the entrance of cloud cookoo land (specifically around the clouds) and they're a real pain because they make the characters continuously jump and you struggle even to change the character. Overall the game is really good. It follows the film well and there are a lot of characters to collect with a lot of variety in game play. All of the main characters and main background characters are included. There arent any transforming characters that I have noticed, which is usually common in Lego games. (with the exception of lord business but he only changes with a special pad thats usually hidden about). The end of the game has a bonus room that looks like a childs room where you can go in and if you go all around you can collect a little more than 1,000,000 studs in one visit (and you can come back as many times as you like). This allows you to buy all of the characters really quickly once you finish the game (if you go to the room before you finish you cant see the studs or the room and you just see the building pad to build the golden instruction items you collect in the stories). Overall really enjoyable, I actually enjoy playing this game with them. Great game for young children or adults.

I'm 51 years old and i love playing the Lego series of video games. They're generally just great, pure fun for people of any age. As documented by many other reviewers on Amazon, the series is not without its ongoing faults but, crucially, none of them have ever been truly game breaking. The Lego Movie video game continues in the same general vein. Explore various movie themed levels in Story Mode, solving puzzles and collecting as many lego studs (currency) as you can, utilizing the various abilities provided by Emmet, Wildstyle, Vitruvius and select others. As has been mentioned elsewhere, this game is far shorter and less fully featured than the majority of Traveller's Tales other Lego games.Although this is slightly disappointing, it doesn't really make the experience of playing the game any less enjoyable overall. There is, however, one crucial, potentially negative aspect of this game that i must mention. Particularly as the majority of people who do play this game are most likely to be young players who are fans of the movie. There are certain areas in some of the levels where the enemies appear relentlessly until the player manages to complete a particular task at that point in the level. This reality, combined with the fact that combat with enemies can prove to be quite tiresome and frustrating when forced to use Emmet and Wildstyle by the game, means that there are some potentially major 'sticking' points in the game for younger players which cause them to just give up in frustration. Also, signposting as to what to do next in these areas is very often poor and many annoying deaths and subsequent loss of lego studs are a real possibility for players. Fortunately, the player respawns in the exact area of death, so there's no trudging all the way back through a level to reach the point of player death. Save stations are very inconsistently placed in this game and this can also be a nuisance in certain levels. These gripes are stated with mainly the youngest players in mind and should not be insurmountable perhaps with frequent assistance from any helpful adult available to hand. The game looks excellent on PS4 and the developers have tried to maintain the same aesthetic appeal as the movie itself. Fans of the lego series of games will find much to enjoy and will feel immediately at home with the controls, puzzles, etc.As this game can currently be bought on Amazon for under £20.00, its a bargain and will guarantee gamer's of any age several hours of fun.

If you've played any Lego game you've familiar with the setup.Adventuring, smashing objects, collecting studs and building Lego all return here and are executed as well as ever with the series trademark humour. There's a couple of new game play additions here, a rhythm dance mini-game and a 2d underwater swimming section to break up the game play a little. It's a game all ages can enjoy, I buy this series and play 2 player co-op with my wife for abit of fun. The sense of humor that is injected into these Lego games is a joy and makes the series worth coming back to.This edition following the Lego Marvel super heroes game feels a fair bit shorter with less side quests to do.While the game is till fun it does lack the interest into being attached to a more recognized franchise such as DC/Marvel/Lord of the Rings. The game looks great on PS4 and pays well. The replay value comes in going back through the levels on 'free-play' mode using unlocked characters new abilities to obtain the secrets and collectibles. This will keep you going for a while at least. Its fun, funny and accessible for people of all ages. For me just not quite as entertaining as the previous releases. However if you have kids who loved the Lego Movie I imagine this game will go down very well indeed.

This is a must-have for Lego gamers, but in comparison to previous Lego games I think it falls a little short. The fact that it looks and sounds just like the actual movie is a neat feature, and in that regard different from other Lego-theme games. Fun and pretty easy to play, the littler kids should have no problem navigating. One star off for these minor things:1. Background music is frenetic and distracting. This is the only game that I have actually resorted to turning off the background music under Options.2. Lots of forced forward-moving action, not enough "problem-solving" sections or ability for open-ended exploring.3. Even with Hints turned off in Options, characters are constantly telling you what to do next. This really takes away from the challenge to figuring out what to do, in what order, with which character. WyldStyle or another character constantly chirp "Emmit, use your pile driver on that plate!" or "There's a secret passageway behind that wall!" or whatever. This completely simplifies gameplay for the very young kids, but kills the interest of others who like to figure things out on their own.But generally---delightful to look at with lots of funny little details just like the movie, creative gameplay and characters, and easy to play.

I don't write many reviews but having seen some of the other comments about this game I felt compelled to support it. I saw the film with my 7 year old son and to be honest, while he thought it was 'Awesome', I was quite disappointed (Peabody and Sherman was much better). The game however is far more entertaining. It closely follows the films plot with some additional locations to beef up the game. i feel this is a little easier than some of the others. my son has been off school (half term this week) and has played the game on most of the days. he completed the game yesterday and discovered a useful bonus screen which he can return to at any time to collect a million studs in about five minutes. This makes the game more entertaining for younger players as they can easily collect all the characters. My only criticism of the game is that the sound seems a little quiet during the video sequences (?). We certainly haven't experienced any of the console issues described by another reviewer. In summary, this is another high quality release from Lego and much better than their second Batman production and the Hobbit release. If your child liked the film, they will LOVE the game.

I personally loved the lego movie and have also played every lego game including Marvel and just like marvel has all these super powers and lego Batman has all his suits the lego game has pure lego. Just about everything in the game is mode up of lego and the lego minifigures move how a normal minifigure would move. It also has clips directly from the movie. And the instruction building. However I will say that this game is more suited to younger children as the instructions are simple, the game is colourful/playful and even my 5 year old sister can play it,and I found that a few of the levels where quite short or not thought out well enough in comparison with the other games hence only a 4star.Concerning the free minfigure Western Emmet is a nice change to his standard outfit in most sets it's just a shame he did not come with the piece of resistance or how he appears in the game. However that is easily solved if you have a few other sets.

This is one heck of a game for kids and their grandads alike... it's colourful... addictive tunes and catchy music... and its action all the way... once you begin... you are determined to finish each level ... I bought this for my own use here at home on the Emerald isle... but a couple of years ago I went to see my wee grandson in Scotland and bought him this game .. we played it for days... and i mean days... and eventually after a lot of diluting juice, buns, biscuits, ham sandwiches and cheese rolls ....and some shushing and growling .. with 1,000,000 points and all characters collected... we WON!!!!... Unfortunately when you win... the next time you load in the game to continue...it has got back to square one and no characters and no points ... so you have to start swearing ... I mean playing ... all over again ... but in saying that... this is one heck of a game, and we are very glad we bought it ... 110% HIGHLY Recommended...

This game is the first to break away from the familiar Lego game design and closely reflect that of the film. My 7 year old son and I like to play Lego games together (and also the Skylanders series) so I'm always keen to see a new entry into either of these series that give us something enjoyable and safe to play. The good news is that the Lego Movie game captures the humour and fun of the movies and creatively melds this into a game that is as gently challenging and enjoyable as the best of the other Lego versions. We didn't spend as long playing this game compared with the Avengers title that preceded it as my son particularly enjoyed the much wider options for wandering around the environment in that game. However, this is still one of the best of the genre and it's great to find so much imagination going into cooperative games for middle aged dinosaurs such as me and their offspring.

Its a shame that there is talking in this game in the past the Lego people in these games just said mmmmmmmmmm and mmmmm but now its different and I dont mean good different.Dont get me wrong its fun playing these games and I will keep getting them as the gameplay is just the same but when I was playing Lego Star Wars there were some sounds that were used on that game that were also used on others than are not around anymore the American voices spoil it I was always under the impression that this was a British thing but the Yanks have got hold of it and its not the same.Great fun its nice to play this after Battlefield 4 and Killzone /Call Of Duty Ghosts (very poor). If you are looking forsomething simple with puzzles and dont want a game with swearing /fists flying then get this its a game for all ages.

...it's not the strongest game in the Lego collection. As presumed, this game is tailored more for children than any other Lego game I have played. Obviously I can't complain because essentially they ARE children's games, but just to warn anyone who enjoyed the Lego Marvel, or LOTR games, this feels like a simplified platform. Saying this I still enjoyed the whole game and I thought the selection of characters was great. I definitely advise watching the movie before playing this as it will ruin a fantastic film. The pace and edited cutscenes from the game do not do the movie justice at all but if you have seen it before playing then it will make much more sense.I would still recommend this game to Lego fans but be aware that it can be completed 100% in 1/4 time of Lego Marvel.

We bought this for our 4year old son for Christmas as he loves The Lego Movie. The storyline plays exactly as the movie with cutscenes from the film. He found some of the things in the levels difficult to do at first but he can now do the whole thing by himself. He enjoys playing in the different areas as well as replaying the levels. As with all Lego games the replay value is excellent as there are many thing to unlock. His favourite is the gold manuals which unlock things you can build and drive around in a bonus room. I have had to look up how to find some of these though.Sadly as I've had with other Lego games on the PS3 this does glitch mid level sometimes which is very annoying as thenthe game has to be restarted and progress is lost.

Bought this a week ago for my 9 year old, less than a week later he has finished the story part of the game. Its frustrating when playing with 2 players as, unlike previous lego games, it often requires one person to do the tasks by themselves for a few minutes while the other player is waiting.Don't get me wrong, this is a good fun game and very closely follows the plot to the film (I would advice seeing the film first!) but after less than a week my whole family has switched back to playing Lego Marvel Superheroes which is the most fun lego game we have played (even after completing the game, just doing everything in New York keeps us going back!)

My 8 year old lad has thoroughly enjoyed this game. Especially as he is a massive fan of the movie. What 8 year old boy wouldn't be eh?The story line follows the movie and there are cut scenes from the film in it as well.Having played/watched the majority of the lego games with my boy I can say that this is one of the most fun. IMHO It is a better buy than lego batman 3 which overly complicates the'hub' factor of the game. The one issue is not having a central level select to replay the main story levels having instead to wander around the 'hub' areas such as 'Bricksburg' Wild West etc to find the replay pointsIt is however a good buy.
