Bought this for my partner for his birthday, even if he is 32, he LOVES Lego and considers it a disappointment if he doesn't get any on his birthday or at Christmas. It was doubly amazing as not only does he love Lego but he is an ultimate F1 Fan so I knew that he just had to have it!It was rather time consuming and complex to build which I think is a necessity rather than a flaw as when you are paying this amount of money, you do not want it to be over and done with in a few short hours. The instructions were very detailed and easy to follow which is reassuring as lots of pieces are similar and there is nothing worse than putting a whole section together only to realise that you have used the wrong parts at the beginning! Its a brilliant Lego Product,it has a good few moving parts and the final build is rather larger than you would expect which was pleasantly surprising! It's very detailed and captures all of the brilliance of a Formula One car. This, like all of the other Lego Technic Kits, also rebuilds....this one into a Race Truck which my partner built AFTER building the F1 car....and then dismantled again to revert back to the car as he felt disloyal to the god that is F1!A Power Functions Motor Set can also be purchased separately to really bring the car or truck to life. All in all, one of Lego's BEST Technic Builds.HIGHLY RECOMMEND

This is a great kit. It looks good, at about 2 feet long it's a good size and, like most of the larger technic models, it has moving parts - front steering, engine cylinders and a lifting engine cover. Guide age is 11+ but we bought for a capable 9 year old. There were some sections where help was needed, for example where stronger fingers than a 9 year old has are required. Also, the sheer length of the instructions provides scope for loss of concentration and putting pieces in slightly the wrong place necessitating the occassional removing of pieces for the last few steps before moving forward again. My son had lots of fun making it (while Dad looked on enviously) and was thrilled with the outcome.Instructions for the second model are only available online which, while not a major problem, makes it less likely to be built and therefore a shame.

Firstly, I want to say thank you Lego!! I am an F1 fan so when I saw this I just had to have it, but for any Lego follower this will go down as one of the classic Technic pieces of all time.I thoroughly enjoyed building this model over 3-4 hours and boy it's huge! It has some great moving parts like suspension, pistons engine cover, DRS on rear wing and active steering. You can also add on the power pack for rear wing and engine cover movement but it does add more bulk after mounting to the back of the car so I chose not to add this on.I agree Lego could have done more to the front of the car. It looks a little unfinished around the nose area and the front wing is not as secure as it could be but that aside, this is a great build and would look impressive in any display cabinet.Highly recommend purchasing this, it well worth the money.

i got this technic set for my birthday in april 2013, it was the first big technic set i have, i built the a-model the grand prix racer shortly after i got it, and it took me about 10 hours over 3 days to build, and i am very impressed with model it looks awesome and has some cool features it's also a massive 2ft long 5*****!last week i built the b-model the race truck which i wasn't going to do because i didn't think it looked that good on the back of the box, i was wrong it has the same features at the grand prix racer (suspension, hog steering, v8 engine, opening bonnet and adjustable rear spoiler) and it looks really cool on my shelf 5*****!highly recommended set!

My son requested this for his 11th birthday today and it's the most excited he's ever been over any present. Practically the whole day has been spent constructing the car and although he is only a third of the way through the instructions his enthusiasm hasn't waned. The engineering precision in it is fantastic and the quality of the product is just what you would expect from Lego. We bought the battery pack separate and are looking forward to the finished car. He has been saving hard for another big Lego Technic crane and indeed is earmarking his birthday money for this purchase. I would heartily recommend this F1 car. Mary Rettie, Scotland

I bought two of these kits, one for my 12 year old grandson for his Birthday and one for my 14 year old nephew for Christmas. They have been a great success with both of them. The quality of the materials is excellent as are the instruction manuals that accompany the kits. They are providing hours of quality occupation. The item is more expensive than some kits, but well worth the extra expense. If you have mechanically minded young people (12 plus) then this makes a worthwhile gift with much educational value.

Accept maybe for th VW Camper Van and Sopwith Camel (both not Technic sets), this is my favourate set so far.I love the size of it and it really looks like the real thing.Only (very) minor detail error is that the front wheels is the same size as the back wheels which all know is not true in reality, but that is just being pedantic about detail. If you haven't bought Lego Technics for a while and contemplating buying this, go for it, you will be on the hunt for the next Lego Technic set soon after.

This is a wonderful present or a treat for anybody who loves to build models. I purchased this for myself because I am a huge fan of building models. It doesn't matter weather you 11 or 60 years old. This is a must for people and although it's all plastic, you can easily build and take apart easier than the meccano set. I am really happy to have bought an item like this and the cost isn't as bad as I thought and it's a very good size too.

This set was delivered on time and the box in excellent condition. I paid £55 for the set on offer which I think was very good value for such a large set which is much bigger when built than you imagine it is going to be.I think this is actually a very underrated set that looks great, has some nice features and is well priced in comparison to some of the pricer sets with their often gimmicky power functions. Would definitely recommend.

Brought as a christmas present for my nine year old son, when it was in the sale a few mths ago, needed a little help to get started but since then has done it on his own, he has been building it since yesterday, it's amazing the quality and detail is fantastic, seeing his amazement as he slowly builds it and the watching the detail grow, gears steering etc, worth every penny, it is very big , wld recommend completely

Bought for my 8 year old son as he is a very keen lego builder and needed something more challenging as the age appropriate models were taking him just 2 hours when I had planned them to keep him busy at half term.this model Took him 2 days of great concentration. Just need some more shelf space now. Just wish it would keep him occupied for longer as rather costly but a great build.

having recieved the model in a well protected case which kepted the box very secure during the journey to me.I enjoyed the building of the model it took sometime as their is 3 different books of instructions to follow. However saying thisthe model has great detailing throughoutNot one for the children to do Yes its a more adult model to build

Bought this for my 13 year old nephew who spent 2 days putting it together. The end result is quite impressive as you would expect from LEGO. Is it worth the money? well this price was around £20 less then I had seen elsewhere and as far as my nephew is concerned it's a 'keeper' to be handed down to his own kids

I got this as a gift for a friend who loves F1 and lego and he seemed to really enjoy putting this together. The model seems to go to a very high level of detail, even in putting together the engine and came together very nicely. Expensive for lego, but a great looking model of an F1 car at the end of it.

I bought this kit wanting to regain my youth. We're going through some tough times at home, so this was a perfect distraction.Lego has moved on a lot since I was a kid and there are so many small pieces.Took about 3 or 4 evenings work to make the model and it now sits pride of place on display.
