BR>The action is pretty slow - speeds rarely reaching more than 50kph, and the collision detection is awful. Hitting opponents means you jutter about unconvincingly and touching the sides of the road delivers a similarly uncomfortable response. If you can ignore these problems you may find a fair amount of charm in the game. It may be slow but it delivers plenty of wheel-to-wheel racing. It has a bunch of power-ups, a story mode and two-player split-screen mode. There are loads of nice animations of the racers on the loading screens and on the track they all perform very differently. The seven circuits are well designed - each with there own theme and though the graphics are fairly underwhelming, there is plenty of trackside scenery to admire.Kotobuki Grand Prix should last a little while because of the story mode, whereby there are many different endings to find as each character has their own. Add to this unlockable characters and circuits and you get a fair racer for £7 - just don't expect to much.

Kotobuki GP is a game that has a certain charm about it which means it gets away with being looked at more fondly than it should. The graphics aren't great, your cars as paper thin, there's only seven tracks, the power ups aren't anything new and there's not a sense of speed. However the one thing it has got right is the ability to be fun and that's what games are about. If you do get it, it will be a short lived affair but I've played worse racing games.
