Right just to get started MY GOD what an amazing game. halo has four different difficulties, easy(theres no challenge just dead aliens),normal(theres still no challenge just less dead aliens),heroic(now this is where the game becomes a god you will be challenged by a numerous amount of enemys who have a lust for death),legenderary(the game is now very very hard for a first timer an in some situations can even trouble a veteran). Theres one final difficulty.....immortal which you have to unlock which is near inpossible and not many people have done this in the whole world. The story line, your a geneticaly modified human wearing a suit at the pinicacle of human technoligie, fighting a looseing battle where your "amazing marines" are being horribley decapitated and brutally gunned down by a powerful race of aliens. The aliens also known as covenant consist of pathetic dwarf like grunts which produce commical phrases in the middle of a battle or massicre in the grunts case and travel in large numbers on there road to victory or suicide, there a bit like lemmings but more funny. Now theres also things called jackels who in large numbers can be a bloody pest but a well placed grenade would do a nice job of blasting them to hell which is damn funny. Right this enemy, the elite is the hardest in the game expecilly on legendary, as the game has made them pritty intelligent and often await your presence in numbers up to 5 be afraid they are alot like you with a shield and can use a array of weapons but as of any they can be stopped by a sniper(which are only on certain levels) but if all else fails chuck a grenade. The final alien a HUNTER are huge bulky heavy armored things, carry a huge gun and can pull a deadly punch, sounds hard, are they heck, what happend was the gamedesigners in all there glory mucked this enemy up 1 yes just 1 pistel in the back can kill it, but near grunts, jackels, and elites this adverseary is not to be taken lightly(but still on there own there really bad). Right your on the ring shaped planet where the covenant live. The covenant were digging and discoverd a thing which can only be killed by being starved(but they will stay down for a long while so don't worry, you will have to face them and no there not hard but just a bit mangled)there called the flood and you have to distroy halo and escape......eventually. theres also multiplayer up to 4 players and is incredibly amazing better than single player if you have four players. Theres also co op on story mode which is also incredible amazing.graphics:100%(the people don't look that inpressive but the suroundings are stunning)sound:100%(crystal clear, commical, not annoying, cool main character and helps with the game)gameplay:200%(this is what makes the game, forget the graphics and everything the gameplay is unbeaten)my review may be biast but if you bought it too you feel exactly the same this game is a must to by. If you don't have an xbox buy one. I had an ps2 which is a great consols but the xbox has better graphics by fact, already has four cantroller slots, you don't need memory cards, the contoller is equally as good when you've played it alot and the xbox is bigger but why does it matter.hope this review helped.

(Continued from Halo is Magnificent-Part 1)Here is a note about the two parts of Halo is Magnificent. Read part 1 first, do not skip right on to this.Co-operative play is a very interesting and fun way of beating your way through missions and covenant. The saying that says: Two heads (or people) are better than one could have been written for the Halo Co-operative section. Because of tactical advantages and the fact that one person could stay back and the other person could run up, weilding a weak and common weapon, but going up in a 'Kamikazi' or suicide way.Split Screen is even better. Within split screen there are different game types. Oddball, CTF (Capture the Flag), Slayer, Team Slayer and juggernaut, make the split screen Halo extremely fun and very interesting. Slayer is intense fighting, sniping, rocket-launching, shooting fun, and is absolutely deadly (get the joke!?). Team Slayer is basically Slayer Multiplied by two, since two teams are fighting each other. Of course, you can make uneven teams (3 vs. 1). Once again, the saying mentioned in the paragraph above applies, and you might ask your friend to cover you while you raid enemy territory. Oddball is when you have to get possesion of the ball and have to keep it for as long as possible. Capture the flag is basically explained in the name. You have to capture a flag. However, you have to defend your own flag, kill enemies that dare to get near you, melee enemies that challenge you when you have the flag, Kill enemies that get near your flag, destroy vehicles that might give your enemies a tactical advantage, and think quickly to succeed in winning a CTF match. Juggernaut is basically a 3 vs. 1 match, the 1 person is the juggernaut. Basically every time the juggernaut is killed, the person who killed him will become juggernaut. So the cycle continues, at the end the person with the most points wins. The thing about Halo is that it is a absolutely different criteria from the other FPS (first person shooter) games. It's graphics are stunningly good, even for the current year (2005) and Halo was made in 2001, The game world is huge. In a way, the Xbox was all lost until this game came along, and it helped (re) revelutionize gaming and the Xbox, which looked like a fire that just started but was starting to get put out, until more firewood (Halo) came along to breathe extra life into the Xbox fire.Just unless you are wondering, Halo 2 is the sequel of Halo and Halo should be played first in any case. The Halo 2 game is more like a new game than a Halo sequel, it has no health bar, more variety of weapons, you play half the game as a covenant. Review on Halo 2 will come. Overall, I think anyone who likes FPS should get Halo. Anyone who likes good graphics should get Halo. Anyone who wants a great multiplayer game should buy Halo. Anyone who wants 10 extremely hard missions and extremely detailed landscapes and worlds should get Halo. Anyone who wants to have a good time on a console, get Halo (and, or) an Xbox if you do not have one.May Halo 3 have the gameplay of Halo, and the graphics of Halo 2.

The Xbox seemed to be quite a flawed release by Microsoft. With it's bulky design, ridiculous game pads, and competing with a console with 2 years worth of games, never mind being backwards compatible, it didn't seem to have much going for it. That was of course, until Halo burst onto the scene.Halo is one of those beautifully simple games where you don't really care about the story line, you just know that; a) It looks good and b) you get shoot to shoot a variety of aliens. The story lines, for those who would pay attention, centered around a genetically enhanced soldier known only as Master Chief, who as part of Earth's battle fleet, are at war with a race of alien known as the Covenant who are just as conspicuous as our protagonist.Your ship crash lands on a random halo-esque structure, and you have to stop something called the 'Flood' before it wipes out everything. Original eh.This game has a lot of good points in the single player, never mind the multiplayer. Despite their only being about 10 missions to partake in, they are so long you feel like you've done about 3 levels. There is no alternate single player, but this is all you need. With four levels of difficulty ranging from easy to 'Legendary' you'll find yourself replaying this. Plus you can perform the game co-operativley meaning it's a different experience again. It has its problems but the game is so exciting that it isn't really important. The game looks good, but isn't anything I would declare spectacular. The level design is my biggest problem with this game. Especially on levels such as 'The Library', it's obvious that game designers have just created a set of 4 rooms and corridors and joined them together, creating confusing game play. Plus, there is no custom soundtrack, so you can't drive to some classic rock and shoot without missing something important being said by the computer which runs your suit. The multiplayer deserves a review of its own, and it has kept me and my friends occupied for years. There are many different maps and options for you to choose from. Our personal favourite was 'Slayer' on the map 'Blood Gulch'. It was just either an excuse to ram each other down in warthogs or sit on the roof sniping. Even if you've only got two players though, it doesn't get much more tense than sniping each other out on Hang 'em High. There isn't a better multiplayer that I've seen, and you can link 4 Xbox's for a 16 player experience. For fans of Half Life this won't be anything you, it does infact, take may of its ideas from the classic FPS. Regardless of that, this game is why you own an Xbox, and if its not, you're an idiot.

I bought an Xbox+Halo combo a while ago, and since then Halo has yet to leave the Xbox console. I've been told there are other titles for the Xbox but I don't believe it :PI just LOVE Halo. Bungie have thought through this game so well that I cannot find any flaws in it, except maybe the odd bug here and there which may in fact be due to the mind-boggingly long periods of time I spend replaying the game! Sometimes I worry how much more the disc and Xbox can take!As Master Chief, you'll be accompanied in several missions by a band of brave Marines. Now this is where it gets good: the vocalisations of these guys is hilarious. I've had Halo for months and I STILL keep hearing them say new stuff. Not only that, but also listen out for what the adorable little Grunts say too! Funny stuff like "I think I just wet myself!", and "It'll take more than that, Tin Man!" You can download even more hysterically funny stuff from Bungie.net, in the "audio" section, out-takes recorded as the actors rehearsed their parts, the Marines for example. Some of their adlibs actually made it in the game! All this adds up to an enjoyable experience. For example, I like the fact that you can't run out of ammo, because you can immediately pick up a Covenant weapon, for example a Needler, Plasma Pistol, Plasma Rifle and carry the battle on to the enemy! And each weapon is advantageous in different situations, so a certain level of strategy is required rather than just blast, blast, blast! And with four difficulty levels from Easy to Legendary (though I've barely lasted 5 minutes in Legendary!), and a number of multiplayer options (you MUST have heard of Halo LAN parties!), Halo has more than enough appeal to last a life-time. It really is that good.So to sum it up:STORY: 10/10 - it has a nice little shocker in store later on in the game ;)GRAPHICS: 10/10 - sometimes you just wanna take a breather and look around!VOCALS: 10/10 - funny, imaginativeMUSIC: 10/10 - atmospheric, other-worldly (though I prefer some levels to be without music)GAMEPLAY: 10/10 - although you might find the layout of certain levels confusing at first (I got lost for hours!) you get the hang of it quickly and it becomes second-nature. The action is smooth, realistic and exciting all the way. Especially when you throw a frag grenade! Just watch those Covenant fly!Yeeee ha!Need I say more? How many games get 10/10 all the way, hmmmm?I cannot WAIT for Halo 2. Death to the Covenant!

Well... HALO, where do I start... 10 levels, close to 20 hours of game play for the moderately skilled games player (ands that's on normal, legendary will chew you up and spit out the fat!), one Master Chief and two guns. Sounds like your standard FPS...far from it, this isn't your average point and shoot foray. HALO encourages the player to use their environment for cover to battle against an intelligent foe.The AI in HALO presents enemies that react realistically to your presence, shouting to alert nearby troops then tossing sticky plasma balls at you before diving for cover behind a nearby boulder. The enemies you face don't run blindly unto their death they use cover and fight, when in numbers they try to flank on your position, when alone they run away for backup. The level design presents some large scale lush landscapes contrasted with the eerie sci-fi symmetrical architecture of the alien interiors that extend deep into HALO itself. These environments are brought to life with lush beaches, towering leafy trees, grassy hills all rendered beautifully up close and from afar, which is a testament to the power of the X-BOX GPU especially for first generation software. Some people may have a problem with the repetitive architecture presented throughout many of the HALO's levels, especially prominent with 'the library'. Although this could also be seen as a master stroke in the level design as the repetition aids the player's path and knowledge of ones environment. This is essential for combat during the interior environments, given you a familiarity with new areas, which in turn means it's possible to use and refine your tactics for assault. The B movie plot materialises as a surprisingly griping narrative that when fused wit the great level design for the most part keeps things moving swiftly on. HALO manages to deliver on all fronts and raps up with a satisfying ending. One of the greatest testaments to HALO's quality is the replay value on offer. This is mainly due to the difficulty levels available (easy, normal, hard, and legendary) catering for all levels of gamer. Completing the game on normal is challenging enough, hard is where many will fall but legendary turns even the first levels into an epic struggle for victory.

Chances are if you're reading this review you've already heard a lot about Halo, you've either played it and want to know what other people think or thinking about catching up with the series before Halo 3. People will tell you that Halo is the greatest game ever made and it's easy enough to see where they're coming from; Halo is a very fun, very clever, great looking for the time first-person shooter. It's also one of the first FPS for the console market to be playable and well designed. However, please be aware that Halo received rave reiews primarily on the fact that it was the best FPS on a console at the time. Veterans of PC shooter should be more cautious, Halo has nothing on PC shooter classics such as Alien Vs.Predator 2 or the Quake series.Halo does have some unique strengths, the AI with both the enemies and the allied marines is very good and was excellent for the time of release. The marines really do feel to be on your side and this is crucial. My favourite strength is the plot, this game has a nice little story to it heavily supported by the scenery, when playing the game simply look up when outdoors to see what I mean.It also has some flaws that are often overlooked but need mentioning. The game contains a very large chapter in which you are required to work your way underground through a facility in which every room, corridor and level is designed very similarily. There is only one way to progress, there are no surprises and it amounts to a very long, dull section of the game. Furthermore, upon completing the objective at the end of this trail you are required to travel back up again. There is a distinct feeling of padding out the game.Another flaw, in my opinion, is often written up as a strength. The vehicle sections of the game are intrusive and obnoxious. Sure, the warthog is fun at first and usually optional but it can also be a pain to control and a nuisance. More irritatingly, the tank later in the game is slow, dull and necessary. I would have preferred a larger shooter level, to be honest.Halo is a great game, if you like FPSs then you'll probably enjoy it just don't expect perfection.

I bought an X Box purely for this game and its does not disappoint in any area.No other game I've ever played ( I have PS2 and a Gamecube) on any console carries such a fantastic story in such an epic way.You play the Master Chief in this FPS, A 7ft tall,1 metric ton in weight super marine- the best the navy has, and its upto him to save the world against a murderous horde of aliens. I'll be honest I could tell you more about the story but its so good that other games can only hope to be as good as this and it'll ruin it to go in too much detail. Instead I'll tell you what makes this so good. The Graphics - Are simply stunning, beautiful back drops welcome the detailed characters. You just sense a good sense of care and love has gone into every pixel. The Music - No other game has the effect this has on me, when I put it on dolby and let it rip. Its fantastic an orcestral full piece plays along with the deep and meaningful moments intertwined with soft pieces truly help the game seem one.The AI - No other game has such intelligent AI, The Alien horde is stupid and slow to react on easy settings, but careful and cautious when on a harder setting. You name one game where if you throw a grenade they'll jump out the way and scatter and if they do get hit, they'll run towards you, trying to you with them. They'll hide, plan attacks and go defensive if needed. The Playabilty - This game will take about 15 hrs in easy and a lifetime in legendary. Easily balanced difficulty settings makes you a more confident player as you get closer to the legendary setting. Then having such an excellent multiplayer, you can take this puppy to where it belongs - Death Matches . Grab 3 perfect strangers and play this thing shooting everyone and everything , or trying hide and pick people off with the sniper rifle and you'll be the best of friends.I cannot rate this game as any other than a Godfather of FPS, Ps2 owners are always hawking on about us Xbox owners and our blah this blah that blah about halo. We have a reason ......... this game is excellent and they know it.

Right first off this game is Good, Good being the operative word. I wouldn't say it was groundbreaking in any aspect nor would I say the graphics are out of this world, but the visuals are all pleasing on the eye and the outdoor environment seem to be slightly better than indoors. The game play is pretty standard FPS, but for a few clever twist such as riding onboard a jeep raining bullets down on different creatures and flying in a futurist plane trying to take out the enemy. But the problem is there just isn't enough of this variation in the game play and a lot of the levels become repetitive because of this. The guns are all ok but again the amount of different weapons available isn't great, and there just should be more choice. The levels vary in how good they are. The outdoor levels seem to be the best, very free flowing with lots of variation, but again the problems are more apparent when you are inside. The levels are very repetitive and you seem like you are forever going through the same section, come on Microsoft add some more diversity. Also the creatures are sometimes frustrating and again quite reptitive in there nature. Lighting is good on some levels and non existent on others.Don't get me wrong this is a good FPS, but don't believe the HYPE that it is something out of this world because it isn't. Microsoft could have made this game head and shoulders above other FPS in the market if they had only spent more time designing the levels so there not so repetitive, adding more weapons, and also more variation in the game play which makes the game different to the norm. Lets hope Halo 2 tackles some of the issues along with improved graphics and the could be on with a winner. For now I would give respectable 80/100.

Halo has no new or original features or ground breaking ideas, however every aspect of the game has been tuned to perfection. The basic story line is that you are a kind of super-human who is the last of its kind as the others were all killed by the growing alien invasion. The ship you are on gets ambushed by the covenant (the aliens) and the ship crash lands on a strange ring world named HALO.During the game you interact with a variaty of vehicles flying and ground based made by aliens and humans. A fare few of these levels involve you fighting along side marines which is one of the best parts of the game. The AI of humans and aliens alike is something very special, its a joy to watch aliens flee, pair up with stronger enemys and hear them talk about what move they will make to attemt to bring you down. Humans are also geniously crafted, the take cover, roll across to new cover, shout when they throw a grenade and yell various other commands and phrases.Multiplayer is a formidible opponent to the single played, you can play up to 16 players over system link on a variaty of different game types and maps. Its indescribable the joys felt when you melee an enemy sniper who hasn't seen you sneek up behind him, or bring down a tank with a meer pistol. The reason i didn't give this game a 5/5 is simply because there will always be a smalll fault to every game no matter how insignificant the error, and that is there isn't too much to do with 3-4 players the maps are too big and the co-op only suports 2 players, however that is the smallest thing in the world and pails in comparison to the hindreds of positives involved in the game from start to finish.p.s the new price is great too, a must have for any xbox owner.

When i first got Halo I thought it was really gd. The guns are terrific, the vehicles are really gd and the AI is really kl. Even the liitle enemys called "Grunts" run away screaming the minute they see u! However in the missions, the checkpoints were sometimes really hard to find. Sometimes you'll find yourself looking for a checkpoint for about 2 days! Also the multiplayer is extremlly gd. A personal favorate of mine would be "Hang 'em High" map with Slayer type on.However, compared to Halo 2, I think that Halo was a better game overall. Yeah, yeah all the grafics and guns and stuff are better but what the heck! halo is still a classic game so I dont think it beats Halo2.Halo 2 is an extremlly gd game. The grafics are so gd, the dual wielding is a brilliant idea and the game is just brilliant! I though, did not think that the multiplayer was all that gd. You still get the same guns but i think on multiplayer it is just way too easy to kill your opponent. Sometimes the player might have dual neederlers (which are trully brutal), or sometimes the player might have just a battle rifle. This , i think is a fair match. But not if you have just come back to life and then you feel a shower of bullets raining down on you from dual smg machine guns.I also found some brillant glitches in Halo 2. On one map i got onto a crane about 1000ft above ground and sometimes i got passed an invisable wall and went all the way round the whole map!Although from my reports you might think that i rate Halo 2 better than Halo, I dont.I think if you would want to buy one or the other, I would choose Halo because its just a classic Xbox game and is just simply BRILLIANT!!!

First Halo the original, let's face it, it's the only real reason anyone buys an XBOX except for Project Gotham. We all know fps's are the best games, we also know that this is the greatest fps right. So what does that mean, yup it's even better than Doom, Doom was the best game ever for years, Half Life was almost as good but it wasn't until the Halo games came out that something actually topped it. Every time I play Halo i feel really annoyed that they released Halo 2 cos it kind of took away the magnificance of the original. Halo was perfect, I don't care what anyone else thinks cos i'm right, then Halo 2 came out and everyone I know who has an XBOX bought it the first day it was out,I completed it the next day. The single player was brilliant, playing as the arbiter was cool too, I really liked the level on Earth, the only problems were that they brought back the flood, I thought maybe they could have used a new type of alien and the other thing was the ending, it had been going so well and the ending kinda spoiled it. I understand that they were setting it up for Halo 3 but they could have made it a bit longer. That was really annoying but it still gets 20/10 yeah you read that right, this is because i got XBOX Live soon after and the first game I played was Halo 2. It was one of the most amazing things i've ever done, i was talkin to some guys in America moments before i killed them.I will never get bored of this.

First, may I tell you that this may be the wisest gaming investment (after the Xbox, of course) that you will ever make. Halo is easily THE most original, fun, interesting, well scripted, nice to look at game in the world. It boasts its 9/10 in the Official XBOX Magazine, it whines of its XBOX exclusiveness, and boy, does it deserve to.Gameplay. 5/5. Simple to master, and when you have it is such a game you will want to keep coming back and back and back for more. Watching a marine beat up an evil grunt is worth playing it, for the Graphics (5/5) are so well executed, animations well designed and dialog fitting every slot. Epic backgrounds are another excuse to play, just looking upwards at the ring world is enough to bring a tear to your eye.Halo 2, however, made massive improvements on the originals graphics, but gameplay feels awkward, and killing the hideous brutes can never compare to sneaking up behind an elite and smacking it in the back. Gruesome, yes, but nevertheless enjoyable. EVery level has a Story (5/5) , with a few twists, turns, and a few "Hmmmm..." moments. WHen you finish that last level, you won't be able to contain your gasps, for you have completed the greatest game on Earth. Now just do it on Legendary difficulty.Ppumpkin

This is it. The best. This is the game that all by itself separates the xbox from the PS2. The graphics are some of the best I've hitherto seen. The levels are varied, from snow peaks to outer space, the enemies can be quite challenging, espicially in the upper difficulty settings, and your marines can be comforting at times, when they bite the bullet for you. The sound is also superb, with the music winning numerous awards, and this builds up to the excellent split-sreen modes, where you can play with a friend, or compete against a maximum of 16 ( which I have had the memorable experience of). There are plenty of different modes, and the plot is actually quite entertaining.Unlike with any other game the cut scenes are actually relevevant and entertaining, especially before you meet the ultimate foe...This game MUST be owned by everyone with any self-respect, and even PS2 owners must take a bow before saying the word 'halo'.

I got my XBOX 360 just before Xmas 2007. I was keen to join the HALO fraternity so decided to start at the beginning and purchase this via the XBOX Originals downloadable games.I have to say that despite its age it is a superb game and its obvious why the series has gone stratospheric. The game is colourful with plenty of detail. The graphics stand up to scrutiny yet. Its a big game with about 8 levels involving roughly 4 missions each. The music and sound effects perfectly compliment the game. The game is simple to play with an intuitive if not easy to learn control system and is quite forgiving to the gamer. You might find this makes it easy but there are still a few good challenges which are difficult but not insurmountable.Overall,I enjoyed playing this as much as COD 4 and recommend that you take a trip back in time [to the future!] and try this out. You won't be disappointed.Roll on HALO 2.

Halo is an artificial ringworld in the middle of space dominated by aliens called the Covenant. The race of men is slowly disintigrating against the power of these aliens and it your job to stop them. You are a robot, the last of your kind and you are the only chance for the race of men. When you play this game it feels like you are actually in it beating up all those Covenant. The cooperative missions are great and the special effects are ace! I love the vehicles and they so much fun to drive. The movement is great and you can run, jump, duck, melee with your weapon and loads of others.I especially like the weapons which range from handheld pistols to futuristic plasma gun.I would recommend this game to anybody with an Xbox. This game ROCKS!!!
