I'm going to be touching a lot of bases on this one, not least because the game has a lot of talking points, (mostly good but occasionally bad) but also because of the widespread lack of objectivity among the one star reviews. I know, I know, that sentence has the whiff of hypocrisy about it given the full on 5 stars I've given it, but i wouldn't give the game that score unless i thought it honestly deserved it, and i will be going over why i think that in a moment. I'am also well aware that many of the one star reviews are, COD + PS3 fanboys, trolls, and people that have made assumptions about the game without actually playing it. I'am also well aware that I shouldn't be feeding these genius',but some issues really need to be addressed, and instead of simple descending into a rant, I'll deal with those issues as i get to them.Lets kick things off with the campaign. The first thing you'll notice, though possibly the least important thing, is that this game looks ridiculously gorgeous, to the extent that you wonder how the hell the Xbox is managing to run it. It's doubly impressive when you note that this game runs liquid smooth, with no frame rate drops or choppiness what so ever. To Halo fans of old this is quite surprising, as previous games in the series have always been a step or two behind the curve in this department. Though somewhat darker in tone than its forbears the game retains the rich colour palette and style that have been characteristic throughout the series. The sound quality is easily capable of standing shoulder to shoulder with the graphics, with a completely new range of sound effects for weapons, vehicles, and in fact... everything else. Because the sounds have changed so much, some find it hard to relate to their old school equivalents. Me personally, well i found that it added a degree of weight and realism to the weapons, which means the battle rifle, for example, no longer feels like a bb gun. While we're on the subject of sound we might as well deal with the score. Gone are the anthemic (Is that a word?) tracks of old, in their place are more atmospheric sound tracks that blends into the background and focus' on underlining the mood of the moment. Which is better? For me personally it's six of one, half a dozen of the other, the new score suits the games new tone, as did the old for the old.The game play follows a similar philosophy to reach; keep the open areas and ground vehicle moments, but throw in some little surprises (space combat and such). Even got a bit of good old fashioned rail shooting which had me all nostalgic, though the pelican segment desperately needs more stuff to shoot at. Where the game differs however is in it's use of the Prometheans; these guys do not mess around, or at least on legendary they don't. Where as the elites will quite happily take it in the face, the knights will shift around constantly trying to break your line of sight, and will then suddenly teleport behind you, or trap you in a corner so they can have the pleasure of turning you over. If only the friendly A.I was so smart. A box of rocks is smarter, and a quadriplegic antelope receiving a hug from a python has a greater chance of survival than these halfwit, as you'll find yourself watching old favorites like dodgy driving and walking into walls. The standout feature of the single player is unquestionably, however, the story, both in it main story arc, and in evolving relationship between the Master Chief and Cortana. It plays out with good flow and builds throughout the game, though it does ask you to swallow a hefty chuck of exposition at one point, and i can't see it being too accessible to new players. There are a few other little niggles that stop the campaign from being all it can be.Firstly, of all the things to borrow from call of duty... quick time events... why? Quick time events are the bane of modern games, they are, to all intense and purposes, a cut scene that you can't skip, or go off and make a cup of tea in the middle of. In halos defence here however, these are the best quick time events you're likely to see, as the actions use the same button commands normal game play does, they're short, and you still feel like you're in control of the character. The second really is a bit of a non-issue though I'm compelled to mention it; button pushing. A few times in the game you have to bush a button, some gamers see this as repetitiveness gameplay; really? Did life get boring for you after you opened your first five doors, the first few times you went for a dump, having to get dressed every morning. Personally i don't see the big deal, it's not like the previous games were any different when viewed without nostalgia goggles. I loved the single player campaign, as the gameplay is good fun, and the story is fantastic, and you can still play the campaign in co-op, which makes it one of a shrinking pool.Multi player.Did you love the multi player in halo 2&3? Did you think reach lost its way a bit, and had sucky maps at launch? I did. Thankfully Halo 4 recapture, with a twist, the unpredictable, mental, magnificence of halo 3, with a fantastic selection of maps. Ideas that felt a bit half baked in reach (Armour abilities, load-outs etc) have been completely reworked. Yes I know weapon unlocks and Armour mods are essentially borrowed from call of duty, which prior to playing the game I thought could never be a good thing, but they actually work. These ideas were always, in my mind, a disaster in call of duty, and battlefield 3, because they crippled any sense of balance the game may have had. In halo 4 these additions work flawlessly; the weapons are balanced and well thought out so it becomes more a case of picking the right one for the job, than simply unlocking the 'one weapon to rule them all'. The unlocks only deal with basic equipment, so all the power weapons have to be earned in the form of weapon drops, or found in random locations about the map, so no more camping weapon spawns, which I'm sure gave many thirteen year olds reason to moan. And finally you can run without an Armour specialization, which frankly amazes me that bungie never did it.The long and short of it is, its faster, more mental and most importantly, more fun than its predecessor, and lets be honest they're hard acts to follow.Spartan ops add a little extra for your money, they're not particularly imaginative, relying mostly on clearing an area of bad guys with a bit of story tacked on, but they're still a good laugh co-op, and I'm glad Microsoft threw them in. That said, i do miss firefight. In conclusion Halo 4 is best one so far, and by a sizable margin, and, at the risk of sounding like a bit of a fantard, i would say its the best shooter around. I curtainly haven't felt like I've played a game this solid for a while, as most games are shoved out the door, whether they're ready or not, and, in terms of value for money its the best thing since the orange box.IGNs 9.8 is probably going a bit far, but it gets a solid 9 from me, and is definitely the best game I've played in a long time.As another reviewer said, "343 have out bungie'd bungie".

Halo 4 has been in development for around three years under newly formed studio: 343 industries. Microsoft has put together the most talented developers at their disposal and given them unlimited resources to continue bungies halo legacy, putting Microsoft's most valuable property in the hands of a new development studio could be considered a huge risk; fortunately they exceeded all of our expectations.Halo combat evolved is among my top five games of all time. It is as close as a developer has come to producing a perfect first person shooter. In 2001 Halo redefined the genre making console First Person Shooters valid for the first time.Prior to its release existed a myriad of lacklustre console shooters and with PC being hailed as the only platform for hard-core shooter fans, halo changed our preconceptions and moulded the genre in its vision. The most integral part of the Halo single player experience is the halo combat puzzle. Players are given a sandbox with which to experiment in. situations can be approached in a selection of ways involving a large variety of weapons vehicles and environments. Intelligent AI duck and weave into cover, flanking the player and offering up a real challenge. This system rewards player skill over everything else.CampaignThis is the most graphically impressive game on the 360, the CGI cut scenes are as close to reality as video games have come in this generation. The motion capture technology rivalling LA noire for uncanny valley visual facial detail. The environments are the most detailed seen in a halo game and the forerunner architecture brings a new complementary art style to the series. Among the traditional blues and purples of old halos comes the striking orange of new species: the forerunners the game incorporates copious levels of lens flare rivalling even that of JJ Abram's.Halo 4 contains an almost overwhelming level of weaponry at the chief's disposal, as well as all the weapons introduced in the series, there is an entire new set of alien weaponry via the forerunners, they are distinctively alien in their orange glowy and dynamic shape changing design. Forerunners are a new challenge which are far more dependent on a well-placed head shot than the covenant, they are more agile, most specifically the knights which have the ability to teleport at any moment.Sprint is now default ability; this was by far the most popular power up ability in reach and has now been incorporated from the start. New abilities have been added to the game such as a large centurion style blue glowing shield and floating sentries.Halo 4 is a more human and personal story involving the degradation of the AI companion Cortana referred to as rampancy as well as exploring the Spartan training programme. how the UNSC treats the missing in action Spartan "John"as well as the dynamic relationship between Master Chief and Cortana it is definitely the most cohesive story told in a halo game. The halo fans that are aware of the wider lore surrounding the halo-verse are rewarded with references throughout.SoundIt is clear that the sounds for each weapon has been rerecorded, these are the best sounding weapons of any shooter, the orchestral soundtrack is a natural evolution of the original composed by Martin O'Donnell it is effective in creating these large scale scenes and creates a darker tone than its predecessor. There is no thundering score as the original games instead it walks the line between ambiance creating the tone and electro portal esque themes.multiplayerHalo 4 has certainly taken a look at the strengths of the core call of duty multiplayer experience and incorporated them into the tried and true halo formula. They have introduced kill cams which have been an oversight of Bungies. A new levelling system is introduced with a cap of 50. Players are rewarded with Spartan points which they can assign to weapon and ability unlocks. Kill Cams, load outs, a perk system as well as weapon and armour unlocks are present, there is also a prestige like system called specialisations which will allow players to unlock special abilities which are otherwise unavailable. The PVP game mode is incorporated under the umbrella of war games which is explained in the cannon as training grounds for new Spartan soldiers. Slayer matches are now a score based affair instead of the number of kills within a match. The score based modes encourage a more cooperative and team mentality approach to the multiplayer arena, it has a similar feel to a battlefield title, there are no support abilities however you will benefit through communication and strategy.Spartan Opps takes the place of the score based game mode firefight. It is a cooperative and episodic experience, each week 343 are going to add a new episode to the series, and each of these episodes consists of around five chapters taking around an hour to complete. The episodic story structure of this game mode is sure to discourage trade ins and will keep the fans happy for a number of weeks. The first season is going to be free, with the subsequent seasons incurring a charge. There are ten maps released at launch, each of them are finely tuned and carefully balanced create the magic halo chaos whether it is in one of the smaller, close quarters maps or the large scale vehicle themed maps.New game modes dominion and flood have been added. Dominion is a base capture style mode. There will be three capture points on the map, once captured the bases will reward the team with reinforcements in the form of weapons and spawning vehicles. This is the most cooperative dependant game modes and effectively introduces a team based dynamic to the traditional lone wolf modes of the past. With the Flood game type 343 industries have resurrected the zombie mode from reach and incorporated the polarising adversary the flood in their place. This is a tension inducing mode where the human players will be armed with shotguns and attempt to stave off faster and stronger flood opponents.SummaryHalo 4 is not combat evolved but combat refined.343 have produced a technically proficient masterpiece of this generation, pushing the seven year old Xbox console to its limits. Although lacking innovation they inject refinement through all elements including sound and level design. Multiplayer is overhauled with new game modes improving the overall package.Halo 4 has the most cohesive narrative in a halo game it succeeds in delivering an emotional and personal experience. the campaigns pacing is close to perfection there is sufficient variety between each of the eight missions343 industries retained the feel of halo while also injecting new elements to a quickly become stagnant franchise to produce the best halo yet.

Over the last few year, I came to realise that I had played quite a few games, mainly from the old Xbox Classic, but once that faithful old love machine died I was sent into a pit of despair. You see I loved (a word I use rarely, and by rarely I mean once every millennium) that old piece of junk because it meant that I could just enjoy the game and not have to worry about online multi-player. I only recently bought the new Xbox Elite, and can I just say I tolerate it, because it doesn't make me love it. My resentment with the new modern consoles is that they are designed from the beginning to house multi-player. Not misunderstand me, I tolerate multi-player.I concede that this is the "natural" (depending on what your definition of natural is) path for the games industry. However, now most of the products need to be downloaded and you need an Xbox live membership to do it. But the thing about the old Xbox was that everything that the game designers wanted on the game and could fit in the game was actually on the game disk. But alas, I must move to Halo 4.I have written a few reviews and that included Halo Reach. I have played most of the Halo games, whos' story was part of the Master Chief cannon and I actually like it. By far it is my favorite science fiction FPS franchise. In fact I actually enjoyed this game very much. The graphics were beautiful, the physics were spot on, enemies are varied and can be a massive annoyance, finally (you can decide whether this is a good thing or bad thing) the weapons sound more realistic and feel like they have actually substance in them. However, I know that this game has so many people that will praise it in every single way that I as a game player and as a rational minded human do not need to and indeed I have decided to point out the negatives in this game. But before I do, let me just clarify that I do like this game.So now that we have that out of the way, lets start with single player campaign aspect of the game. Although I do applaud 343 Industries for having the courage and bravery to buy the rights to Halo and try and take the game further, I must admit that it is all for a bit of nought. You see the gameplay is smooth and great to play, but the story is a bit lack to me. I couldn't figure out what it was until I started writing this review that I realised that it was (ironically) the Master Chief. Yes he is still awesome, but I loved the original Halo because it was dark gritty and I actually felt on my own, the game play was challenging but basic (in a good way) and at the heart of it the Master Chief was silent almost all the way through. The original game painted an image of the Chief standing on a hill with huge amounts of guns and ammunition while storming up the hill is the covenant forces trying to make him into their new filling for a bacon sandwich. Now though I have a picture of the same scenario only this time he is reciting all the works of Shakespeare with ever shot; still awesome, but kind of not what you were expecting. The whole thing with Cortana going a bit mad is interesting but it seems like they put more emphasis on this aspect rather than the whole save all humanity from new bad guy. Not bad but I think we could do better. The weapons seem more realistic which is a plus for some but for me is a right slap to the face. I mean this is Halo, a sci-fi action shooter, I want to have a gun that can shoot bullets so hard at the enemies that their faces concave. That is what we want in a futuristic world like Halo, stupidly over powered guns. Speaking of which after erasing every possible threat in an area, it is realistic that the weapons that are dropped stay where they were dropped. On this planet apparently, every weapons that is dropped for more than 2 seconds instantly gets absorbed into the planet like a sponge so if you've run out of ammo just after a fight, don't bother looking for ammo on the ground because there isn't any.I know that as it's first new Halo game, 343 wants to wow audiences with new and tough creatures to kill, with brand new weapons. But the problem is that it all looks too cartoon like. Every weapon glows like someone literally bought hundreds of nerf guns, stuck glowing florescent tubes to them and just said "here you go, make friends with that." I know I wrote that too much realism in a game such as this is bad, but too much weird and unrealistic things just takes me out of the whole affair. The Prometheans (although a good idea) ultimately fell for me since they are just annoying and very very difficult to follow when they keep bouncing from place to place. There is challenging my skills and then there is just trying my patience. Also, spoiler alert, at the end of the game I would have liked to have actually fought the big boss rather than simply press some contextual buttons and see that the boss is killed for me. So as epic as the rest of the might have been it didn't really seem right when the boss is easier to kill than say a wasp, and at least that thing would try and fight back with it's own body. Now we come to my favorite part of the review. Multi-player! Pahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh as if. I don't play Multi-player nbecause a game such as this should not need multi-player to give most of its' marks, its' merits should stem for single player as much as possible. Now Reach had great Multi-player since most multi-player modes could be player on my own or cooped, but this isn't multi-player. This however, throws all the notion of allowing those with out Xbox live and do not want Xbox live out the window. The Spartan Op I hear great things about, but since that is reserved only for those who want to pay more than is actually worth it to continue playing a bit more, I will mark it down for this. This is a review based on my view, if I may remind the reader and I still like this game!In summary then, this is a welcomed game by many and I do welcome it because I like the franchise and the game but I must say that I wished it had more single player elements. In essence I do suggest this game to most people, but bare in mind that this doesn't nor should it, hold up to nor compare with the previous Halo games that have been made buy Bungie.

I'll start by saying there will be one or two small spoilers, but I'll try keep it to a minimum.I'm a big fan of the Halo games. Halo is the reason I bought an xbox. So like many people I was apprehensive when I heard Bungie would be moving on. But over the past few months with all the info leading up to halo 4's release 343 managed to convince me they are the right people to take on Halo. After playing the game for nearly a week now I can say that in my opinion they succeeded. I bought the legendary edition, which is a brilliantly put together package. The materials used are very high quality and the extra's you get both great fan service and useful in the game to explain parts of the story and set apart your Spartan in war games.CAMPAIGNLet me start with the few bad points. The campaign is maybe one level short for me. I think 8 levels isn't quite enough. But this is just nit picking because what's there is good. Not great but good. The didact is built up to be a great final boss fight. Which never really happens. (It is implied that this fight will continue through to halo 5 though). If you've played halo campaigns before you will know what to expect. It feels very similar to the tried and tested formula. This is both a good and bad thing. Maybe the simple corridor of enemies level design will annoy some people but unless your new to Halo you shouldn't be surprised. I personally loved some of the levels. They felt very reminiscent of Halo games from the past. I especially liked the Star Wars inspired level towards the end. And bringing back gondolas as a game mechanic reminded me of good times from halo 2. The new enemies and the weapons they bring are a welcome edition and on legendary the knights are very frustrating. I will say that the game seems easier to me. Maybe they have made the covenant easier to off set the new challenge of the forerunners but I found myself quite easily blowing through all the covenant with ease even on legendary. And I'm not particularly good at halo. Overall it's a good campaign I'm half way through my legendary play through now and I'm enjoying it more than my first which is usually a good sign.WAR GAMESNow let me start by saying I am not a fan of COD, many people are and that's fine but the multiplayer just never really felt fun to me. Maybe I'm just biased because this is Halo but I love the Cod elements 343 have taken. Ordnance is great, the loadouts (which where kind of there from reach) are a great way to tailor the gameplay to your style. And all the options you can take feel equally useful. I also like the faster pace, brought about by a mix of faster re-spawns and sprinting always being available. The new and redesigned levels feel well balanced and already choke points and favourite tactics are developing. I'm looking forward to the first map pack. I like the new game types (dominion is really fun) and the few tweaks they have made to game types like infection which is now flood has really improved these game types. Like alot of people I noticed the lack of many favourite game types like swat, invasion and grifball. Swat will be added this week and hopefully they will add others like grifball and snipers as the weeks roll on. I don't mind that some are missing for now because there are still plenty to choose from. As long as they do return soon. The levelling system is much improved and the sheer amount of customisation is impressive. It's quite rare that you find two Spartans that are the same. Ive just reached level 32 and I'm working my way to level 50 when you can specialise (halo 4's version of prestige) not sure what changes this will bring yet. The highest level I have seen so far is 47 so that something to work towards.SPARTAN OPSIt's ok, I like it more than firefight. I was never really a big fan of that. I'm hoping they take the story somewhere interesting in future episodes. Ive seen alot of people complaining about the fact dying doesn't have a penalty. This doesn't really bother me. But I do think the levels are slightly too sort. And the recycled levels from campaign feels like abit of a cop out. I'm going to hold judgement until a few more episodes have been released. It has potential though.FORGE/THEATREThe additions to forge's tools seem very strong, I'm not a big user of forge but I can appreciate the scale it brings. The lack of the large open space from reach may be limiting but I'm sure people will work around this. A lack of theatre for campaign is slightly odd and a few times I have wanted to watch back something and haven't been able to(this will be added later), also I'm not certain but I think you can only watch back the last game you played in war games(I may be wrong about this). As I said these things don't really effect me but to people who use these features it will be seen as a negative. The game isn't without it's flaws. But for a first time dev and taking on such a huge franchise I think 343 did an amazing job of taking Halo forward while maintaining what made Halo so great. I really think that Halo has been left in good hands. And I'm looking forward to see what the future holds for the next part of this new trilogy. I'll end by saying I can see why people might not like the changes, alot of people are not fans of change even if it's for the best. But if you want a solid single player experience backed up by fast paced and well balanced multiplayer and like me cod is just not for you, Halo 4 probably is. I'd give it 8.5/10 close to a classic but for now it's just very good.On a side note the brilliantly named Kikki Wolfkill from 343 has recently said that they think the Halo universe would be prefect to move outside of just the fps genre. Who wouldn't want to play a mass effect style third person rpg in the halo universe or maybe even something more radical like a third person action game like DMC that concentrates on melee as much as gun combat. Obviously she also said that the master chief and fps will always continue as the flagship of the franchise. Ive got my fingers crossed for a halo rpg.

S T O R YMC and Cortana are still aboard the UNSC vessel Forward Unto Dawn, which comes under attack by Covenant forces. Cortana reawakens MC to investigate the disturbance aboard the ship, but in the process they both discover that they have ventured towards the Forerunner planet Requiem. The planet's gravity well sucks the Forward Unto Dawn into its atmosphere, leaving it up to MC and Cortana to explore this dangerous world. Cortana's condition is worsening, but MC makes it his mission to get his A.I. companion back to earth and save her from dying. There is great chemistry between Chief and Cortana, the story is just as much about her, as it is about MC too.The forerunners have greater screen time and this allows their story to shine. The Halo universe opens up much more, but never overwhelms the player with many interesting facts and important references. MC has greater dialogue, which helps keep a tight focus on his relationship with Cortana.G R A P H I C S & S O U N DHalo 4 boasts incredible visual technology, which sums up the amount of dedication that has been put into this project. Master Chief's adventures have always provided players with epic worlds and ridiculous draw distances. Spectacular vistas will have your jaw dropping to the floor, gazing upon huge Forerunner valleys and technology is a sight to behold. Requiem boasts a great range of environments and level variety. A greater attention has been paid to both scope and expansive map designs.Gorgeous lighting effects are on the menu, especially in the opening segments of the game aboard the Forward Unto Dawn vessel. There are great particle effects when fallen Prometheans disintegrate into little beads of light. These new enemies not only look tough, but they are vividly crafted from head to toe. Requiem takes players into a Forerunner world and it is a very immersive ride once you enter it. The art direction is phenomenal and it is evident a lot of thought has gone into the outlook of many environments. In-game character models are highly polished, MC looks better than ever and his Mjolnir armour is beautifully crafted around him. Cortana glistens from her holographic glow, lights constantly running across her A.I. Body. The warrior race of Prometheans are the latest antagonists to be added to the anti-MC line-up, and their futuristic designs compliment Requiem's stylised look.Voice acting is excellent throughout the game, which adds to the dramatic nature of the story. Sound design is powerful, which is highlighted by the raging battles that players will encounter. The soundtrack takes a bold new direction, but it compliments the experience in every way possible.Upon closer inspection, some textures can be very weak and blurry. Level design becomes very linear in some stages and this is not helped by bland art direction.G A M E P L A YMaster Chief certainly isn't rusty since he's woken up, and it's as if the past five years without him have been a blur. The controls are very easy slip into, Chief's movements are much more fluid when traversing the battlefield. Getting from one objective to the next is the core aspect, and occasionally a number of objectives can be scattered within a larger environment. Halo 4 has superb pacing from start to finish, it balances a number of gameplay mechanics and successfully gives players a breath of fresh air.Two weapons can be held at anytime and players are free to rotate them. On the harder difficulty settings it's very easy to run out of ammo, so it's wise not to spray and pray, but take a more methodical approach in wiping out the opposition. It's very unwise to just run and gun, surveying the levels and planning progression are two important factors. Tactics come in handy when approaching enemy patrols, as it can be wise to flank enemy positions and add a tamer approach to your combat style. A great selection of weapons awaits player, the Forerunner weapons are a treat and boast great offensive power.Minor QTE sequences are employed to add a greater cinematic feel to the gameplay, which helps the immersion and keeps players closely attached to Chief's battles. A diverse range of special abilities will become available to the player throughout the campaign, which allow Chief to use shields, send out holographic projections to distract enemies, or even use jet-packs to gain an aerial advantage. Other abilities can be collected throughout the game, but only one can be carried at any given time. The Covenant are as annoying as ever, but take more of a backseat. The Prometheans provide greater resistance and their forerunner heritage makes them stiffer competition. The Promethean knights are a constant nuisance, and their every movement needs to be watched. Enemy AI is very smart and the opposing forces will work together to make your life hell. The covenant use strategy and are slightly more defensive minded. Learning to use grenades effectively will be a real lifesaver, as it is very easy to get surrounded. Vehicular-based gameplay is great fun and breaks up the shooting action on a regular basis. The plasma rifle is a big exclusion from the weapons roster. The lack of dual-wielding options is another surprise, which would have spiced up weapons combos. Certain vehicular-based sections are too simple and require little effort to overcome. The beautiful environments, stunning design and fantastic music serve up some tasty gameplay sequences, but these become short-lived experiences.O V E R A L L343 Industries have outdone themselves and exceeded expectations. The Halo franchise is in safe hands and it marks the beginning of an exciting trilogy. The story is emotionally driven, allowing the relationship between MC and Cortana to be at the forefront of the narrative. Visually, this is the Xbox 360's best looking game, accompanied by a powerful soundtrack. The gameplay is refined, the controls are tight and putting MC through his bullet rampaging paces is a joy.

Intro-Halo, Microsofts BIG gun is back for another round this time it sees the anticipated return of the charismatic Master Chief and his faithfull AI Cortana boosting a new graphics engine, new enemy class and other sandbox toys as well as plenty of production values from the campaign to MP to the new spartan ops mode that promisses to deliver weekly episódic content Halo 4 proves that this old dog still has a few tricks left but are those new tricks fully realised can a new developer( 343 industries) destroy halo?+full packageStory-Halo 4 follows 4 or so years after the events of halo 3 the Chief is adrift on the dawn but is reawaken when a few covenant patrols board the ship ,soon after youwill crash land on Requiem a mysterious forerunner planet that hides a very ancient evil from showing its ugly face to the galaxy.Surprisingly halo 4 focuses more on Cortana and her relationship with Chief and so on so forth its a deep and personal story that does not quite add up well with the game the problem is that the game is too short so it feels like the build up with this 2 characters doesn't quite lives up to the final sequence making the ending feel emocional but not as emocional as it should have been this and some overexposition that is bound to make new players lost as well as some halo fans, making the story feel like a mixed bag and the overall feeling for me was "why couldnt this be like this" not to talk about how forced some plot moments were. The halo lore is still incredible and 343 made a tremendous job át. Pleasing everyone but unfortunetly not everything reached its true potential making for some what ifs scenarios to appear on your head that being said the voice acting ,new animations, the epic scale the sense of wonderment in requiem and to be honest even if it could have been better the Cortana arc is enjoyable especially for long time fans still i recomend watching the video terminals on youtube yes youtube unlike halo annyversary you need to unlock the terminals and then go to waypoint causing a disconect between you and the game your trying to be immersed with.+epic scale+voice acting and animations help bring the characters to life+rampancy story arc+Setting and Lore-Could have been better-overexpositionGraphics-Halo as been well known for its refined gameplay but as not been recently known for its powerhouse graphics halo 4 changes that with the artístistic work and lightning as well as some of the best facial animations i ever saw make halo a serious top dog in this category again there can be some minimal pop in but i found the game to be the most stable and polished of the franchise 343 outdoes Bungie by a mile in this category.+Breathtaking graphics+Polished as polished can be+Artistic design +lightning effectsGameplay-as a first person shooter halo 4 does little to change the formula in the campaign and it seriosly suffers from that this is the same thing as halo reach yes there are new enemies there are new weapons new and refined armor abilities but they dont do enough to change its a game that is scared to change things up and the flip-switch sequênces in the campaign feels like they are just stopping you from advancing rather than flow with the narrative the developers seem to realize this and put alot of emphasis in getting you from A to B in a diferente vehicle or with some other twist here and there but its not enough to make the gameplay of halo that same gameplay we have enjoyed for years better than halo reach this is were Bungie slaps 343 but i will give them a pass since this is theyre first halo and this is probably what they wanted do not anger the halo gameplay lover.+good for fans-the same as 2 years ago-flip-switch segments-does the old formula worse than in Halo ReachMP-Now its not about the campaign or anything else its about the MP and fortunetly there is change and unfortunetly we have seen this before in a different game im talking no less than the inclusion of Perks and unlockabke weapons as you lvl up and a kill cam ruining some teabag moments seriosly 343 this is RIP-OFF and in the generic form as they were implemented yet they do bring some freshness to the mp the maps are fine however none of them have the same quality as some of the classics.New modes like regicide, infinity slayer, the new redesigned infection mode called flood as well as constant playlist updates keep things from getting stale.Spartan ops is the new thing and the promise of new content every week is true however there is alot of recycled areas during the 5 inicial episodes hoppefully the remaining 5 will put a change to that, as a one play one time it gets the job done however it loses replay value.Theater and forge are back and with them comes the oppurtunity to share your moments of glory with friends as well as the oppurtunity to create and toy around with the MP maps with forge these modes are still great and definetly an improvement over halo 3 but not halo reach you can't share your campaign vídeos and forge world is better than those 3 small maps not mention the gimmicky addition of magnets.+New modes+new maps+theater and forge-call of dutty RIP-OFF-recycled áreas in spartan opsOverallHalo 4 is a good game but it ultimetly feels forced i can't wait to see whats next , the artistic design, graphics and story are a cut above Bungie, unfortunetly the MP lack of originality the lack of change and atrocious lvl design leave something to be desired out of this i have faith in this developer its time they have faith in themselves.Score-8.5

With 343 Industries taking over the Halo Franchise from Bungie I had huge expectations for their first Halo game designed from scratch after the amazing job they did with the revamp of the first original game Halo Anniversary. Needless to say they never let me down, graphically the game looks stunning which is noticeable from the off, they have really put a huge effort into Halo 4 and it really shows that they are taking good care of the franchise. If you are a fan of the series you will notice from the start that 343 have changed a few things; the guns have more realistic sound and weight to them, the grunts are now a lot more serious. At first I missed the old style Grunt which were colorful and stupid but now they sound much more serious and hold heavier guns & armor which lead to me shouting out "I can't believe I got killed by a Grunt!" or something close to that anyway, something I would hardly ever say in previous Halo games as they were a species that got in my way.One of the only issues I had with the new Halo game was the introduction of the Prometheans or more to be precise the Promethean Knights who for me are just bullet sponges. Personally I would just shoot and shoot and shoot at them to find that have run out of ammo and if that's not bad enough there are watchers flying around healing or casting a shield over them. I know I am not the only person who dislikes them especially when playing on Legendary and you empty a clip into them to find they have teleported away from you. Along with new enemies you have new weapons, some are pretty decent like the Incineration Cannon which is brilliant when you have one in your procession however not so great when you sense the last few seconds of your Spartans life as you are caked red light of death. Other weapons like the Light Rifle, Scattershot are just revamps of current weapons and don't get me started about how useless a Pulse Grenade is, they are pointless! Yes they are! This aside Halo 4 really does have some beautiful moments. The campaign is a pleasure to play, graphically stunning with a fantastic soundtrack that has some very memorable tunes. The Weapons sound and feel the way they should and the game feels much more serious than any of the previous in the series. Also let me add that Co-Op is back and just as fun to play apart from two area's which forces you both to use a vehicle, if you don't keep up with your partner you are as good as dead!Everything other than The Single Player Campaign forces you to have a Gold Xbox Live account, if you don't have one you simply can't play any of the extra features which I can understand a lot of peoples frustrations. Multiplayer I can look past as you are playing with others and this has also been a Gold privilege but the Spartan Ops should be allowed under the Silver membership as like the Campaign being a single player or Co-Op event. This is the sole reason I have waited so long to publish my review as I never had a Gold account until recently and have only just been able to play the Spartan Ops missions and Multi Player. The Spartan Ops missions are short story based games split over (currently) 10 Episodes which consist of 5 Chapters, most of which will have you traveling from point A-B whilst being heavily attacked from all angles or it will have you defending a point......................... whilst being heavily attacked from all angles. The levels are fun and short but hardly Imaginative in the slightest.Multi Player is just like previous Halo games however I believe it's gone back to the days of Halo 2 online where it's actually fun to play. My only issues are slight and that's respawning next to enemies or in the middle of battles and the fact there are still people who cheat to their advantage glitching all over the place on purpose making them near impossible to hit.In Conclusion Halo 4 is back on track, you get loads of value for your monies so long as you have a Gold account and it's everything a Halo fan should want and need until 5 comes out. I love a comment that was previously made on one of the reviews "343 have out bungie'd bungie" and that's a true saying right there. 343 obviously know what the fans want and I believe they can move the series forward without derailment.

Before I start, I just want to be clear: I do not care about multiplayer. I use it (I can't count the hours my I and my friends have spent on Halo 2 and Reach), but it is not the reason I buy a game, and is not the basis for my review. I am only focusing on the single player campaigns.I buy games for the single player story mode, anything else is a bonus.Halo 4 is a return to Halo's sci-fi roots. Big story, big characters and the seed to a bigger story arc. Meant as the start of a new a trilogy, Halo 4 prepares the groundwork for a new galaxy spanning epic, foreshadowing the Promethean's return while still providing a satisfying personal story of two characters trying to save themselves in a universe that (they think)no longer needs them.I loved Halo and Halo 2. The gameplay was excellent and the story was building nicely to give a sense of drama and urgency that other console FPS games simply weren't providing at the time. Even on Legendary mode, I never felt cheated on dying.Halo 3 was an absolute mess. It dropped any sense of depth of character for big explosions and tedious big battles, usually with a handful of Brutes. Seriously, jetpacks? I am supposed to feel the fate of the galaxy is at stake, but this just made me laugh. And not in a good way.The gameplay was largely similar to Halo 2, but new the new additions were mostly pointless, e.g. the brute vehicles that were at best annoying to use. Also, the game was utterly unbalanced in Legendary, snipers can one shot kill the second you round a corner for the first time. Also, all brutes take three weeks to kill (mild exaggeration).ODST was DLC stretched as thinly as possible to justify it's full retail price tag. Ugly as sin, although with a great voice cast (you got me, I love Firefly). It added nothing to Halo's overall narrative, and if they hadn't copped out at the end (and had the team die as the narrative suggested) Reach could have been avoided.Reach is utterly moronic, an insult to story telling. It would have fitted better as a Gears of War game.Seriously, the story is completely unnecessary and adds nothing to the Halo universe (unlike the book it's based on) and is utterly devoid of character. Also, it's misogynistic. Everyone in it is a macho stereotype, except the girl who is good with tech (not fighting) and gets sniped. By a gun used multiple times on you causing shield loss... So her body gets carried away by a huge man... Who isn't overly sad because, y'know, men don't show emotion...The men die in increasingly ridiculously manly ways and the only real substance can be found in the final level (I won't spoil it), but that's entirely up to the kind of player you are...That said, and I know said I am not reviewing on multiplayer, but the multiplayer for this game is absolutely amazing and worth buying the game for. Finally we get Halo 4. This isn't a perfect game, but it tries to reconnect the player to Master Chief as a man rather that an unseen killing machine whose sights to look through. The connection between Master Chief and Cortana is the basis for the game and, although events spiral into a much bigger narrative, their relationship is the core the story.Beat for beat the game is largely a clone of the original Halo, but the plot, character and world building is engaging enough and has something that has been lacking since Halo 2. It largely avoids the grand scale battles of the sequels, and aims to tell a smaller story giving you a genuine connection and caring for the characters you interact with. It also gives new and interesting enemies to engage with. There are no brutes, which is a huge plus in my book. The Elites return along with several new antagonist and I'm fine fighting enemies with huge, regenerating health bars as long as they are interesting and fun to shoot at (i.e. not brutes). That's not to say there aren't high stakes and epic warfare by the end, but that's not the point of this game. It remembers, finally, that the single player should tell a good story first, while also providing the 'Hell Yeah!' moments that makes gaming such an addictive hobby. On a more superficial note as a sci-fi fan, there are mechs! Everyone loves mechs! MECHS!!!!!

Firstly could I say thank you to everyone who has been clicking like and finding my reviews helpful. I am really keen to add some good quality reviews to this Amazon.co.uk website. I felt that I had to do this as there have clearly been a lot of trolls posting dud biased reviews on various tech products.Onto Halo 4, does anyone remember making their way through Call of Duty Modern Warfares firing range and thinking to themselves what does this mean? Well Halo 4 is not a rollercoaster / gun range Halo 4 is a real First Person Shooter / Adventure game. The game is awesome. I was quite worried when I heard that 343 had taken over Halo development but alas I should have had more confidence in them.343 have done a brilliant job. I won't spoil the story but this exposition into the Chief's Humanity and his relationship with Cortana (his A.I. sidekick make for a landmark adventure). We see the best of the Chief and are left wanting more.Halo 4 takes the best bits from the trilogy and builds on them, set pieces, planet drops and battles are all epic and you will find that the guns in this Halo feel more powerful than ever. If it wasn't for the fact that this was the fourth game in the series you could argue that this the best Halo ever.Halo 4's graphics are among some of the best. Guns look great, cut scenes look brilliant and are rendered with the in game engine but sadly some textures suffer when you see them close up equally you will find that many of the enemies disappear if they are at a draw distance which is further than the game can load/process. Nonetheless, the bright open environment are a great showcase for how beautiful Halo 4 is.The Halo 4 combat engine feels like it truly evolved and the chief handles like a true war machine. You will find yourself hammering the Xbox pad until the very end taking down Prometheans and covenant with your rifle, butt of you gun and then a grenade. Never has the Master Chief felt this bad ass. The controls are perfect and the enemy AI will remind you of how dumbed down some of the recent shooters you've played are, play on Legendary and you will be punished the enemies do not want to die and don't want to run into your bullets you will be challenged and I strongly recommend that you prepare to die. These enemies have their own patterns and the new Promethean Knights feel very much at home and thankfully if you've read any of the Halo novels a lot is explained too.Halo 4's multiplayer is one word. Halo 2,3 and 4 on steroids. You will love it, the new maps cater for both close-quarters and ranged combat, they've taken out the respawn timer and added ordinance drops. But these changes do make for a better game. My advice is to design a Spartan load up Ragnarok pick up a assault riffle and start blasting. Halo gamers will initially feel out of their depth but will soon feel right at home in Halo 4's multiplayer mode once they get their head around the new scoring system. There is also a new mode called Spartan Ops, its an episodic DLC themed game mode which is an episodic co-op based game mode. The level was set within a huge sandbox and had me killing enemies and pressing through to objectives, this was alot of fun and I cant wait for the next free episode.Wrap-UpShould you buy Halo 4?, yes. Halo 4 is new but at the same time its still the same Halo we know and love, the gameplay is brilliant and really marks the return of the first person shooter. The controls are slick and the multiplayer gameplay is as fun as ever. You will enjoy Halo 4.+ The Master Chief is back+ Fantastic Multiplayer+ The story- Close up textures- Frame rate on system link drops considerably- Limited replayability if you haven't got Xbox Live

I felt the quality of the game deserved only 3 stars - but I do play it a lot and it has given me a lot of fun so it probably deserves 4.CampaignFollowed through the campaign once on heroic mode out of a sense of duty. Its the usual halo length with the usual halo story. And by that I mean frustrating and repetitive. The prometheans are not a fun enemy to fight and make the campaign feel more of a chore than a joy (just my opinion). Started to play the campaign through again on legendary to get the achievements and armour but when I checked my stats online it hadn't registered completion of the second level. No way I'm doing it again so I haven't touched the campaign since.Spartan OpsI only found this mode fun when played with other people online and unfortunately it is heavily plagued by lag. I don't mean the occasional jumpy kind every few minutes - its a constant delay. Press the trigger and about 1.5s later hear the gun fire. As far as I can tell it isn't my connection as I have no problems with multiplayer or online play in other games (COD, GTA, etc...). That aside it has its moments of fun but it also gets heavily repetitive, reusing the same old levels. It also only gives you a choice of 5 different levels every week so if you play for an hour you've already done all the missions for the week.MultiplayerThe reason I bought this game and still play it today. Its very different to the previous Halo games, but I won't bother comparing it as I see it as a game in its own right. I personally love the loadouts - used to spend all my time in the previous games (2-reach) searching for a decent weapon before attacking. Now you can spawn with a DMR which in my view brings a bit of skill back into the game as you don't get everyone running about with assault rifles - the skillful players will just pick them off from a distance. This is offset slightly by the personal ordinance which will randomly grant people Incineration Cannons or binary rifles. Makes it hard to judge the best way to attack a team if you have no idea what they've got. I know it was meant to combat the weapon spawn hogging of previous generations but that was a fun aspect of the game, trying to hold strategic positions. It seems people are split over the armour abilities - I like them. Choosing between a number of options enables you to play different styles and there is no 1 ability that will own the others. The main issue with the game is the bugs. Framerate is terrible in a number of maps (complex, shatter etc..) which makes them unplayable split-screen. Joining friends in lobbies was terrible and used to take most of the night but I think its almost working now. The matchmaking mechanic seems very slow compared to previous games - you will spend a lot of time waiting for players...SummaryIf you're buying this game for the campaign then you'll probably disagree with everything I've said, so have fun with that repetitive, frustrating experience that won't even acknowledge levels that you've spent too much time completing on legendary! :) As for multiplayer, its a much faster-paced game (instant respawn) with the addition of loadouts which I find fun to tinker with. Also, the max level of 130 is now achievable (compared to the inheritor in reach). So when you've found a game, with decent framerate and the ordinance drops are in your favour you'll love it! If that sounds terrible then avoid, if not then buy it second hand as it still seems overpriced.

To anyone out there like me that is a HALO fan and played each and every game to have come out i can totally assure you that this is by far the best HALO game to date! It has everything from a fantastic Campaign with phenomenal graphics, audio and the story to go along with it but what makes it even better is played in co-op with a friend(s) this game is probably the best game EVER for co-op play. There is a new section called spartan ops which is a cooperative mode and replaces "firefight" mode something i was initially saddened by considering my friends and i always had lots of laughs in firefight mode but i guess the time came to move it on but just so you know they are specific missions with more coming down the track in the form of free DLC's.UNSC and Covenant weapons from the campaign are truly epic in both graphical detail but also their differing advantages/disadvantages... Promethean weapons are just staggering (and in more ways than one)Online is where most people will be spending their time once you've played the campaign and where you'll get your moneys worth. This time around everything seems to have polish and a film of quality about it, maps are fantastic for close quarters combat but equally there are those huge maps where truly epic battles can be bitterly fought and note that none of the maps come from the campaign, they've all been designed from scratch, weapons from the campaign make there way into the online section brilliantly and add to the sense of drama. What is different from past games is that now there are customizable load-outs (so similar to battlefield and Call Of Duty). Armor abilities also make a return so fans can really engage and make their spartan different not just in the way they look! Don't get me started in armour customization, i'll just say it's very impressive!PROS: Campaign is very impressive and any halo fan will love it, graphics are probably the best I've seen yet on a console, audio is stunning and sets the scene for some epic battles, weapons, Covenant are a worthy foe this time along with the new Prometheans, Multi-player is as good as ever but with added chili powderCONS: I have yet to find any although online some players take it way to seriously compared to most people wanting to have fun!VERDICT: 343 industries did not disappointed, this is truly stunning in every regards and i can rest easy at night that HALO is in safe hands!HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!UPDATE 27/11/2012:I don't know what happened over the last weekend but the online experience has changed for the worse. Where as before there was a level playing field, now it is full of aimboting cheats and old school players which plagued Halo 3 so bad and took the fun away. Literally all the players last week who were new and played fair and in a balanced way seem to have been removed and in their place all of a sudden there are level 50+ players popping everyone off a mile away with battle rifles. Jet packs are now overused and the amount of players that seem to be able throw grenades while in mid air and perfectly hit you in the head is ridiculous. I loved this game the first two weeks it was out, it has since changed back to halo of old with over aggressive players than have no lives!

So my partner got me Halo 4 for christmas and have just got round to playing it over the past 2 weeks and was so impressed with the latest edition to the series I thought I'd get off my lazy butt to write a short review:I've played all the Halo games over the years [Wars/Combat Evolved+A.E/2/ODST/3/Reach]and really only play the games for the singleplayer aspect and I must admit I think this is the best game in the series so far.At a recap:Halo CE: great game, something new, refreshing and with solid gaming mechanics [if you didn't mind the same drab corridor sections].Halo 2: More of the same, carried on the story with a bigger scope towards the single player.Halo Reach/Halo 3: good; solidgames that tied up the first story arc but started to pull the series more heavily towards the multiplayer/social gaming side [Not a bad thing but not for me].Halo Wars/ODST: I like to pretend these weren't made, well polished games but not needed in the series......and Halo 4, from a single player perspective...gets everything right IMO:1. The campaign lasted longer, normally I expect to play FPS campaigns [with some exceptions] in 2-3 sessions but Halo 4 kept giving that I actually kept checking online to see how far I had to go and was quietly impressed.2. Huge amount of variety...lots of new weapons available were alot of fun [if a little underpowering in places] and the new enemies/architecture design in the game was amazing, the opening of the first act on solid ground had me just standing and looking around taking everything in.3. Cutscenes/Interactive video scenes...a great addition/extension, Halo 4 is easily the best looking game in the series as you might expect but whilst this kind of thing has been around in C.O.D/Battlefield games and the likes it was a nice addition to Halo 4 and wasn't over used.4. Rememorable. I play a game and if it doesn't have replayability I tend to sell/trade it pretty quick [I have OCD and my friends laugh at me for it] I played Halo 3 and Halo Reach for the first times prior to Halo 4 just to catch up with the story and must admit it just felt like going through the motions but Halo 4 felt like a high bugdet block buster movie, the directing was spot on, the cast just awesome [the games 'villain' is perfect].Maybe it was just the high glossy makeover of the latest in the franchise, maybe it just the new story arc starting up but the series is definately at it's strongest right now. I'm sure the multiplayer is amazing too but wouldn't know. Any bad points you ask? really not alot of all...game crashed on me once in a heavy tank battle but chances are that was a fluke, some of the weapons felt underpowered but you simply stick to what you like, probably if I replay it on legendary I'll curse the hell out of it but for now I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a sci fi FPS, there really isn't many more that are better out there.

After having watched the previews and the E3 gameplay I honestly could not wait to get my hands on this game.CAMPAIGNThe story begins with the re-awakening of Master Chief after Cortana summons him from his four year long nap since Halo 3 Master Chief's iconic sentence to Cortana "Wake me when you need Me". It soons becomes clear that they've run into trouble after being welcomed back into the halo universe with an entire covenant fleet baring down on them. Along the emotional journey, they run into new foes in the face of the forerunners and exotic planets and vistas. The art team at 343 really have put in a lot of effort into making the game look as gorgeous as it does. What makes this Halo game stand out is the sounds, graphics, story and of course... the guns! Not to mention a great sound track. All the sounds of the guns have been totally re made. This time making the assault rifle sound like an assault rifle and not a bb gun. The new forerunner weaponry is great especially the surpressor which is the equivalent of an assault rifle but more powerful. All in all, the story is great and the cutscenes look great. After completing the campaign on normal taking me 8 and a half hours or so, there is lot to go back on with friends especially on a higher difficulty.SPARTAN OPSThe spartan ops missions are good fun to play but I don't feel compelled to go back and play them more than once despite them giving me loads of xp. It adds great value to the game and with 5 chapters on the way it makes playing the game more worthwhile. Each episode comes with a short animated(i couldn't tell it was for a while) episode following the adventures of the Spartan IV's that is quite entertaining to follow.MULTIPLAYERThis is probably the best online experience of the moment with fast paced action and some great game modes.Fortunately i can see the activity levels of the gamemode servers on the mode selection menu this means i know the activity levels of the DLCs. My personal favourites are : Infinity slayer(team deathmatch), Big team infinty slayer (bigger maps, bigger teams, more vehicles) and Flood. The vehicles are great fun to use and flexibles loadouts are great fun to tinker with to personalise your experience. Customising spartan armour is good fun too. The only modes i was dissapointed with where dominion and Capture the flag. They just were not fun for me. A new perks system has been integrated to allow for differnt use of weaponry and armour abilities. All in all the great game I expected that is great value and has me on edge for what comes next.Roll on Halo 5!

You would think that after saving the universe from the evil Covenant & monstrous Flood, Master Chief deserved a holiday. Unfortunately, when his AI pal Cortana wakes up him up from an extended power-nap it's not for a long-overdue office party with his UNSC buddies - but rather to warn him that some rather angry Covenant have boarded his ship and are looking for trouble. Poor Chief just can't get a break...and so begins an epic adventure that will see ol' 117 not only battle new enemies with new agendas on new worlds - but also have some rather personal battles to fight. Some with his employers but another involving his long-time travelling companion Cortana - who is not at all well.Over the course of the game Chief will be tested in combat and forced to wrestle with just what it means to 'be' (deep indeed). So then, I'd have to say that overall the plot works - although it did take two playthroughs for me to both absorb and appreciate it fully. As for the look of the game - without a shadow of a doubt it is impressive. From ethereal open vistas to dim and dense jungle to Tron-inspired interiors; you never feel bored looking around. Plus the Chief has had an aesthetic upgrade that just makes him look even cooler. Voice acting is top notch with some subtle (and not so subtle) nuances in the way the dialog is spoken that only heightens the emotion of the moment. The score is also suitably atmospheric and enhances each section of the game.As for the enemies, well the gang are back in the form of the Covenant and they're exactly as you'd expect. Elites bark commands and Grunts flee at the first sign of trouble. But this time round we're introduced to the Prometheans as well - bad guys who aren't interested in talking or anything else other than wiping you out. They're tough and have several interesting tricks that they will use to take Chief down hard. They're an interesting bunch that will challenge/frustrate you on harder difficulty levels but their lack of squabbling, shouting and general fear makes them a little less fun to fight than the Covenant.Overall, the game plays like any Halo before it; with the thankful inclusion of a sprint ability as standard - not to mention enhanced abilities, assassination moves and all the usual vehicles we've come to love - including the new addition of a mech (which is ground-pounding fun). Ultimately Halo 4 marks a welcome return for Master Chief and does exactly what it should do by the end - makes you wonder what is going to happen next. Fun stuff.

So recently bought halo 4, had pretty high expectations for this and wasn't disappointed. With 343 taking the reins I was interested to see how they would continue the halo series, it being one of my favourite game series. The story picking up where halo 3 left off, we rejoin the chief and cortana still stranded in the ship forward unto dawn. Their ship ends up drifting towards the planet requiem which belonged to the ancient race known as the forerunners, from this point cortana wakes masterchief from roughly 4 years in cyrosleep and they are thrown into a new adventure.Without wanting to give away to much of the story line, it mainly focuses on the relationship between the master chief and cortana. As the story progresses you get to see the master chief and cortana's relationship develop and see the extremes they will go to to help each other. Overall the story is well thought out and very enjoyable to play through. When it comes to multiplayer, there are some clear changes that have been made, for instance taking a page from the likes of Call of duty with the weapon loadouts, although it has been put in well and doesnt make the multiplayer feel 'un-halo in any way. The multiplayer is also well thought out and has been refreshingly updated with a sort of combination of halo 3 and halo reach elements.Another added mode is the spartan ops, these are split into episodes with 5 chapters in each. There is a small story arch to this mode with each episode having a cut scene to watch before you play the chapters explaining the point of why your going to these places in the episodes.Although I enjoy this mode, it does however have a few flaws, mainly to do with being repetitive, many of the missions will recycle maps from previous episodes making you play the same terrains over again. this gives the slight impression of laziness on 343s part, also every mission essentially has you going to a place kill some enemies walk over here kill some enemies etc, with no real goal to the missions making them slightly bland or boring after a while. However the cut scenes and story arc are just as interesting as the main campaign.Halo 4 overall is a great addition to the halo franchise with a clever plot, strong characters and plenty of online fun. Although I feel it isn't the best of the series, 343 have defiantly shown their worth and am very optimistic to see what they bring in Halo 5!
