I bought a Sea Monkeys 'Ocean Zoo' as well as a Aqua Dragons 'Underwater World' as Christmas presents for my daughters - kind of a 'same but different' sort of deal to prevent arguments, assuming that they were pretty much identical besides a few aesthetic differences. This assumption was incorrect, as there are some very big differences between the two products. Both tanks were set up in exactly the same environment - literally side by side - and using the same bottled spring water. The instructions included in each set were followed to the letter. The setup of the Aqua Dragons 'Underwater World' was quick and easy - you add just one sachet, containing the salts (and other water conditioners)and eggs combined, into the water, and that's it. You're done. In a few days, your Aqua Dragons hatch. That said, caring for your Aqua Dragons once they've hatched is more laborious than those of the Sea Monkeys 'Ocean Zoo' set - oxygenating the water daily with a pipette and feeding every two days. In addition, the quality of the Aqua Dragons 'Underwater World' is somewhat lacking - the food provided wasn't miscible, and so floated on the surface of the water, which is probably why the Aqua Dragons all died within a few weeks. A quick email to the address provided in the set was all it took to obtain free replacement sachets of food and eggs (albeit with a large dose of condescension from the representative), and we already have a second healthy batch on the go, with food that seems to be perfectly miscible with water. On the other hand, the Sea Monkeys 'Ocean Zoo' required a little more in the way of setup - the salts and water conditioners come in a separate sachet and needs to be added a full 24 hours before the sachet containing the eggs, and then it takes a lot longer than the Aqua Dragons to hatch - we're talking potentially weeks rather than days here. Once they've hatched though, care is minimal and rather easy - you don't have to oxygenate the water because the tank is better designed, and you only need to feed them once a week. In addition, Sea Monkeys would seem to be hardier than Aqua Dragons, as our first batch are healthy and large and still going strong, and everything just seems to be more 'grown up' and of better quality - even the magnifying lenses in the side of the tank work.Overall, it's kind of a 'tortoise and the hare' kind of thing, and I'd recommend Sea Monkeys over Aqua Dragons based on the quality, reliability, and ease of caring for them after the initial setup; however, I appreciate that some children lose interest in things quickly, so Aqua Dragons might be the better choice for children that expect quick results and constantly feel the need to do something - just be sure to manage expectations because Aqua Dragons seem to be more prone to premature death than Sea Monkeys are.

Was unsure if any of these would hatch due to reading reviews but bought and hoped for the best.I bought highland spring bottled water to use.The tank is very small which I like as it doesn’t take much space.I set it next to a Window/ heater. I also used a pipette to add oxygen to the water instead of just Stirring.I aerated the water with the pipette daily. I didn’t think anything was going to hatch as it looked so lifeless but carried on with the pipette For a minute or so each day. Then on day 4 around 5 tiny little sea monkeys appeared. The next day there were 12, next day 17, next 20, I fed them a small spoon of the included food a few days ago and now on the 8th day of life in the tank there are at least 25 tiny sea monkeys swimming around. They are quite hard to count as they are so small and swim fast.Hopefully they will keep growing so we can watch them grow into adults.

Following the instructions included, we have had all of the eggs hatch. Within a fortnight, a handful of the sea monkeys starting mating and we now have two pregnant females, with full egg sacs. We are yet to see these pregnancies birth. We keep the little tank right next to a radiator to keep the water warm. According to the instructions, keeping the water warm encourages growth. We dont have a windowsill that gets good sunlight and is warm, so we put them by a radiator instead. We weren't sure this was going to work, but it certainly has and the tank is flourishing. They swim a little slower the day before they are due for their weekly feed, so we feed them once every 6 days instead of every 7 now that they are bigger. The kids are over the moon with them. All in all, a great purchase for just under a tenner.

Ok so I bought these from elsewhere but thought I’d leave a review as for us they worked perfectly. It’s worth going on YouTube and educating yourself about them a little before you start. It’s worth bearing in mind that packet one that says water purification actually contains the eggs. These are the small brown dots that come out, I thought these looked like eggs as I have experience with triops and a quick google confirmed this, the second packet is basically just nutrients. Remember to put the small tank in a window that gets A LOT of sunlight, this is key, they need to be warm! If not put a small lamp near them or over them. The first 24 hours are crucial. Our 4 year old loved them and they grew quite big!!They lived for over a month! Hope this helps some people!

The Sea Monkey Ocean Zoo kit is an ideal starter kit for anyone wanting to try growing Sea Monkeys! You are provided with a tank, a scoop and the sachets needed (eggs, food and water purifier). The Sea Monkeys grow after 24 hours and if you don’t see anything, don’t throw away the water as they’ll definitely grow as they may take a few days - sometimes longer. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. Good fun for the kids, keeps them entertained and they enjoy looking at the Sea Monkeys. An affordable and easy to use ‘toy’, better than having fish in my opinion as less work.Colour is random when sent, we got pink - for a boy! This isn’t an issue though as we’ll be moving them to a bigger tank.

Bought for my son for his 5th Birthday. I set it up for him, added water and the 1st sachet and promptly forgot about the thing. 5 days later he asked me where his sea monkeys were. I noticed that there was some algae already in the tank and it was quite cloudy but I quickly added the eggs hoping they wouldn’t die straight away. They hatched the very next day and 10 days on we have about 12 very alive sea monkeys. I have added some food when the water went clear again but there’s quite a bit of algae at the bottom so I won’t feed them as often as it says on the packet. Not sure if it was a fluke or what but so far, it’s been a success.

We opened it up, poured in warm tap water, and stirred in the purifier, let that settle for half a day, i then put half a packet of the sea monkeys eggs in, within 2days we had about 10 swimming around, we have left it in direct sunlight most the time, the water is quite warm, we feed them once a week and top up with bottled water.Id recommend reading reviews about how to look after them rather than intructions, we havent had any problems yet. They are growing quite big now and we still have half a packet of eggs left.My son loves coming home from nursery everyday to see how they are doing.

I was delighted to get 2 different colours as per my request as these were for gifts in the same household and I didn't want to cause a row. The children concerned are absolutely delighted with their new "pets" so it was a win win situation. I would whole heartedly recommend these sea monkeys as a great gift for any child over 3. It's a very different kind of gift and children love them. My own daughter got her first Ocean Zoo at around 10 and now 16 years later she still enjoys receiving them and got a Zoo only last month.

Arrived quickly and well packaged. Christmas gift for my 7 year old. When opened seemed too straight forward and honestly thought we had even failed at that however not.DON'T TIP AWAY EVEN AFTER A WEEK!We had seen 1 or 2 after 4 days then nothing and thought we had done something wrong we left it, I was going to start again but hadn't got around to looking to order more eggs, glad we didn't after a further 7 days we noticed very very tiny monkeys swimming around worth waiting for daughter was over the moon

It's been really good, I saw the sea monkeys on day one (they were little black dots moving around like bacteria) and watched them grow, for some reason I had loads of babies and then only ended up with 3 adults. But they had even more babies and now there is loads again. I currently only have one female who has been there from day 1. I would definetly recommend, I was very exited to watch them grow and enjoy watching them swim around and looking at their different aspects because not one is like the other.

Arrived well packaged very easy to set up I filled the tank with room temperature still bottled water the sea monkeys are kept in a room with the temperature between 18-21 degrees it has taken roughly two weeks for the sea monkeys to hatch I had a couple hatch at the lower temperature then there was a couple of warm days and that's when most of the sea monkeys hatched now nearly three weeks on they are growing and swimming all over the tank my son really likes to help feed them and watch them swimming

I originally thought this hadn’t worked, but my partner said he had some as a kid and left them out for a few months then noticed hundreds. I put mine on the window ledge and forgot about it. Now I have 100s! Started feeding them and the population seems self sustaining at the moment (adults are fed to my Betta fish). Didn’t bother changing water in this time etc. If you don’t notice them after 5 days give it more time! The babies are tiny and hard to photograph but the adults are easy to spot

I had Sea-Monkeys as a child and I was so happy to be able to get my hands on a Ocean Zoo! It came in an amazingly bright orange colour, just how I remembered it as a kid.The kit comes with everything you need to grow your own Sea-Monkeys, water purifier, eggs and food. They hatch within 24 hours according to the packet but they can take a few days depending on the location of the tank etc. It’s magical!Convenient and simple to use pack, absolutely fantastic! Highly recommended.

Yes they are really alive! Although I didn't follow the instructions fully, I put in lukewarm water, added the purification sachet and left it about 20 minutes before putting the eggs in they still hatched! Hatch time took around 2 days and I could see many little sea monkeys swimming around.I guess it's a lottery whether they hatch or not as other people have had varying results but for me it all worked perfect. Unsure how long they will live for but hopefully will last quite a while
