I bought these to go "plus size" on my 1997 Lemond Alpe D'Hueze steel frame road bike, which originally came equipped with 23mm Continental Super Sport tires (I am the original owner). The new tires are 25mm, and are about the largest size tires that will fit on my bike due to frame clearance. They feel just as fast as my narrower tires and the ride quality is much improved. I also feel the traction is much improved due to the larger contact patch and the advanced "black chili" tread compound, and the larger tire section allows me to run a lower tire pressure. The owner of the bike shop who installed them for me was very impressed with the quality, and he said, "Did you know these are handmade in Germany?" (I did).I bought the folding version rather than the wire bead model because it is significantly lighter (the weights are on the Continental web site). They have the "gumwall" look of traditional road bike tires, but are made of the latest compounds including a puncture protection layer. I love these tires and the bike rides even better than before.

I was happy deciding to get these tires. It's not the fastest tires but it is faster than my old Vittoria, Serfas and Panaracer Catalyst sport tires. It has puncture resistant but I added liner to add more protection and makes me peace in mind. The installation process was a bit tricky like everybody mentioned but with the right tools, it can be done. It took me about 15 minutes to install both tires; front and rear. It's very comfortable at 80 psi and I am 139lbs. I installed the same day I received the tires and rode to the mountain with 5100ft climbing, these tires just rolled and no problem with light gravel. I like it and glad getting this tires. I recommend this tire if you want to have enjoy ride, comfortable and light tire but definitely not for racing tires.

About the same price as other medium level road tires I buy for training and they look nearly identical to the 40 year old Conti brown-wall training tires I took off my 1981 race bike during its recent restoration. For my restoration project, I am very happy with these tires and very glad Conti is willing to continue to manufacture and sell these retro looking tires.A side note: the tires are directional and you have to look closely at the sidewalls for the single arrow on only one side to see which way they are supposed to be installed.

I’ve been using these on two fixed gear wheelsets. It’s nice to see a return of the old brown sidewalls. The black chili compound is as sticky and grippy as always, even in cold weather. The thinner sidewall gives the tires a plusher feeling compared to Conti Gators, without any compromise in durability (so far). The 25c is a true 25 and almost reads as 23s on some narrower rims. Just because they’re called “Classics” doesn’t mean these aren’t 100% modern tires. Definitely try them if considering.

I've had these for about 6 months, and in that time I've put about 500 miles on them. They are *delightful.* Mounted on box-section rims, on a steel-frame fixed gear, the ride is really supple for a tire this narrow. The fancy future-rubber-whatever is very grippy on some really dirty roads and light gravel. No punctures so far, just pinch flats (my fault for pushing the pressure boundaries.) No tire levers necessary, the beads are just right for Sun M13 rims. I like them a lot.

Bought only one being worried about reviews saying it would not fit?In my case tire went on rim easily by hand and I only closed last bit after installing the tube using an assist w a plastic lever. I would rate fit perfect. My rims are 622 with internal 16mm bead bought back in the late eighties. After installation these tires gave width of 25.1mm at 100psi. Weight of tire was 219g.Have order another to make a pair. Quality and appearance look awesome.

Noticeably smoother ride than my previous Conti 700x23's with no noticeable penalty in rolling resistance. They measured 24.4 mm at 120 psi mounted on my Mavic E2 rims. I measured their weight at 230g, so only slightly heavier than the 4000s II. Black chili seems to roll and grip well and give precise, agile and predictable handling, secure and comfortable in high speed decents and cornering, typically ridden at 100 to 110 psi.

I'm impressed. I had no trouble at all installing them -- didn't even need tire irons -- and they appear to be very high quality. Ride is fast and assured, a major upgrade from some OEM Specialized tires I was riding on. Even though I went from 28 to 25, they feel more planted and secure. And they look just brilliant on a vintage Bianchi. Highly recommended for any vintage build.

Nice, classically-styled skinwall tire. The sidewall is more reddish than a traditional tan skinwall. Treads aren't really necessary on a road bike, but these have enough tread to give a classic look without being noisy or collecting sharp debris. Puncture resistance is ok, but I have gotten a few flats with these tires. So far, I have 800 miles on these, and would buy again.

These are awesome looking tires that reek of quality and roll so nice. I love them! One weighed 230 grams and went on easily while the other weighed 222 and was a struggle to get on, so quality control could be a little better. Don't but cheap tires, buy these if you want a vintage look but also a modern, high performance, flat resistant.

I got a pair of these for my 70's steel road bike. The tire is a light weight for it's size and durability. The folding sidewall holds shape very well and fit my skinny 19mm box rims like a glove without mushrooming out around the bead and causing a squishy ride.

these have been great so far. i do wish they had a slightly more aggressive tread pattern because sometimes the shoulders of roads can have some loose gravel. but all in all i'm happy with them and consider it a good upgrade from the panaracers i had before.

One of my favorite tires and for under $40 they’re truly amazing. Nice and snug fit, ride great and look awesome. To the guy that said the tires don’t fit on his rim, learn how to put tires on and then update your review. (His picture below is comical).

Ideal racing bike for my 1988 Specialized "SIRRUS" road bike. Visually a dream. Processing, as far as I can see as a layman, really good. Original price fully justified. The tread is very good and stable. Reminds of good old values and handwork.

I like the grip and feel of this tire, as this is my second pair purchase but this is my first review for this product. Actually, I ordered a pair again and it always satisfies my riding experience! Kudos Continental!
