Bought these for added protection. I ride 25 miles a day on various conditions of dry/wet/stones/thorns/glass. Tread is not much, but my hope is it is enough for the wet conditions. Smooth ride even with the tread. Wish they had directional information to provide peace of mind on the water shedding aspect.Update: 2-months and my first flat. The tread had a big gash about the second week. It did not go through then it lasted another 1.5 months before the flat so guess the high TPI worked. Retrospect, I would probably save the money and buy a thicker walled tire. The thin wall would be nice for racing or something, but not worth it for commute.Tread is just enough to help stop sliding under wet conditions.Update: 6-months and several flats later. Every tire will get a flat so not too worried about that. My back tire is really worn and the front is looking pretty good. I need to rotate them (should have done sooner) to even the wear. The side-wall gash in the second week was in my front tire. Now the back has a 1/4" long gash that went through and cause several flats until I found it. Installed a vulcanizing patch on the inside of the tire and has held for the last two weeks. I just bought a less expensive tire (1/2 this price) but will wait until these can do no more to compare. Still a good tire, but if any tire will have problems, might as well save a little money.

I bought a pair of these 4 years ago and only had 5 punctures travelling on road , and canal paths and rough chippings but I did get some minor slashes on the sides and where they contacted the road. During this time I had side panniers each one fully loaded with about 20 kilos and top bag loaded with 5 kilos . However I had one problem with the front fitted tyre which started to absorb water and perished and wrinkled but I put this down to an unfortunate bad batch during manufacture as the main load bearing rear tyre did not get this problem.. Both tyres have reached their road worthiness after this period so I am investing in the same tyre new as they have lasted longer than other road tyres I have used in the past and I had a lot less punctures. You get what you pay for and I was using three sets a year using other cheaper various brands covering between 30 and 60 miles a day but did however suffer bad slipping on during icy conditions but were ok otherwise. Another important thing is to keep the tyre inflated to the correct pressure otherwise the speed performance drops and the more weight you carry the more often this has to checked but deflate them slightly during icy weather as this tends to reduce slipping because more tread is in contact with the ground but your speed will reduce slightly but only a mad man would ride at speed during these conditions.

So there are so many opinions at the LBS and in the pack and so many reviews. After some solid reading of many reviews - these seemed to come out on top for my intended purpose.Age 5x and 175lbs - I do 10 miles / 30 mins of cardio every morning on a road bike to stay fit. Fairly smooth back roads. The stock Giant PR3's that came on the bike were worn out and I wanted to go from 25mm to 23mm to reduce rolling resistance.I tried these. They went on the rims fine, they set up fine and I run them at the full 120psi. I have no fear of going into corners at 25mph if the road is clean and dry. They feel more comfortable than the Giants - some call it "supple" - whatever - the reduction from 25 to 23and I am probably MORE comfortable on these tires. The 2% speed improvement is nice too - but that is probably just the lower rolling resistance from the narrower tire.My 2 cents and YMMV

I have just purchased my fourth consecutive 25mm GP 4 Season Vectran for the back wheel. I prefer the noticeably faster GP4000 but found them insufficiently resistant to nicks and cuts so now I only run the GP4000 on the front. Two of the GP 4 Season lasted a decent 6000 km. (The other was severely cracked after less than 1000km.) At 6K the tread is thinning and wearing flat over a 6-7mm width. The seam becomes visible on the side wall and the thin remaining tread cracks across the running surface (see photos). Elsewhere nicks from grit and flints are small. Small cracks do not extend with time. The balance between rolling resistance and puncture protection suits the roads and my riding.I find winter tyres are too heavy; summer tyres cannot last on winter roads or poor surfacing. The only downside is the lowest selling price on the web increases a couple of quid each time.

After over 3000 miles on these tyres I'm finally giving them a rest. I can't fault them. They are full of cuts but that comes with the high pressure (23Cs so over 100PSI). I finally got a flat in the same spot where the tyre had been cut through previously. I've already swapped them to extend their life so it's time to move on, and treat myself to a pair of 25Cs.I bought it for £26 and now the price is almost double? How is that acceptable? One star less because of the crazy price.--------------------------------------------Update: this tyre I just bought lasted me only two moths because it got cut straight through. Sometimes you just get unlucky, I suppose, so I won't fault the tyre. But I can't be spending this much for something I might to throw out so soon so am going with cheaper options from now on.

Covered over 4000km on these, (28c on Mavic open pro rims, with a 90kg rider). Touring & fast commute, occasional kid on the back too. Nice comfortable tyre that rolls well. Although they are resilient you can still expect the odd puncture, the tough protection means punctures are usually slow, find it flat the next morning variety. At this stage the rear looks a tad beaten up, with the odd nick, but they are still good to go. These are not a cheap but you do get and a dependable tyre with good grip, even in the cold. I'd say it's one of the better 28c tyres you can buy, If your worried about weight the Schwalbe Durano is worth a look. Unfortunately 28c seems to be biggest size sold for these and other quality, light weight folding tyres. [Actual size on rim = 26.5mm]

I was bought a pair of these 14 months ago to replace my Continental Gatorskins and it immediately felt like I was riding a different bike. The flexibility of the folding tyre makes it much easier to put on and remove the tyre itself, and these particular tyres are much thicker to resist puntures. That doesn't mean that the speed or handling is negatively affected in any way.I was enjoying about a puncture every month with the Gatorskins, but (along the same routes etc) I've just suffered my first puncture on these Grand Prix tyres since using them. That's over 2500 miles of puncture free riding. They roll well, corner perfectly and feel comfortable and stable.Absolutely no complaints.Bung a couple of decent tubes inside them and you're away.

This was probably one of the best purchases that I have made for my roadbike that I use to commute on a daily basis. I live in Scotland where the roads are quite variable and the conditions are often quite harsh for cycling. I have been using these tires for about 6 months now and I barely had any punctures whatsoever. I am a heavy rider (>100kg) and on stock racing tires I would be getting punctures on weekly basis. This is no longer the case with these Continentals. I have done over 1000km on these tires and they are still in great shape and offer me peace of mind when it comes to punctures. The only problem with these is that they are slightly heavier than your regular racing tires (as is to be expected)and they are not as fast.

If you want good grip in all conditions combined with outstanding puncture resistance then these are the tyres you want to put on your road bike. I live in south Oxfordshire and during the Winter in particular the roads are usually covered in razor sharp shards to flint. I have used these tyres over the last seven years and have only had three punctures when they have been on the bike. During this time I did try out a set of OEM original tyres that came with a new set of wheels. They got shredded quickly; got three punctures on one ride. So I threw them out and changed back the Conti Grand Prix 4Season. Not had a puncture since.Recently bought this tyre to replace a worn out 4Season tyre on my rear wheel.

Was getting so many punctures with my old tires and spending a fortune on inner tubes so I decided to change the tires, looking around I found these and even though I thought they were quite expensive I went with them anyway, when they came I could feel they were a lot better quality than the old tires I was using so I was pretty happy, on the bike they feel great too, I've got every confidence to lean it over and keep a fair pace around bends and the they also seem pretty good in the wet even though I don't go anywhere near as hard in the wet lol I used them throughout the winter and I actually did come off but that was due to a super slippy random patch

Put these on my commuter bike and love them. They feel fast and are solid, haven't had a puncture in over a year of almost daily use (my commute is 10km each way). I have hit the occasional pothole when I either didn't see it or was forced into it, and still no flats. I do look after the bike through and don't run the tubes too flat (usually run them around 100psi as a 75kg rider).I got the 23c size, as it was going on a single speed and I like the retro racer look (and am willing to sacrifice comfort for that). The bike is quite a soft frame so that absorbs a lot of the vibrations, so I have no problems riding on what passes in the UK for roads.

Note1 puncture resistance, longevity. Even under the most adverse conditions (rural roads Romania) can rely on this tire. Shards and stones do not work as usual in the profile, they always stay clean. Sure, metrologically there are probably compromises in roll resistance and grip in fair weather. After some time under high stress, threads in the area of the rims loosen, which I have to cut off. This is not a problem and I therefore put a whole pack to the rabbin, because in my opinion, no one else on trips to this well-being reaches.

These are puncture proof and ride well. They seem to come up a little smaller than some other brands, so 28s feel little narrower than that - more like 26. Although I have only suffered one puncture after 3000 miles or so (caused by a sharp metal staple) the tyres have gradually developed a lot of cuts and splits in the outer carcass so much so that I have ended up replacing them for fear that I could suffer a blowout. So I am not sure if they are the best tyre for longevity. I do still keep buying them though!

I will never ride on another tire Until they make one better than this. Last year, I did not have a flat. I usually ride near busy highways and where there are good old boys throwing their beer and shorty bottles out the window. I sold the bike and replaced the tires on the new one with the GP-4 season this Dec, (2015). I am 69" tall and weigh 190 lb. I like the tire pressure to be close to 120 psi. In other tires, I was always Leary of going near their max due to increased risk of a puncture.

been suffering with punctures all year on some cheap branded tyres, sometime 2 per week on my 50 mile round trip to work, since putting the continentals on I have had no punctures riding the same route so im well happy. They also seem pretty good in the wet which was my primary concern as I have had 3 painful offs from December 2016 to April 2017 on other lesser quality tyres all of which happened on wet roads so im hoping these Continental will keep me upright in the future wet conditions.
