I remember long ago when SHELL was the primary gasoline company for LEGO sets but in 1992, things changed.LEGO went with their own fictional gas station brand, Octan and it has been used in various sets for nearly 25 years. And as an AFOL (Adult Fan of LEGO), I have always been intrigued by the Octan branding used in LEGO sets. From its catchy logo used in various trucks and race cars, to also LEGO sets. And I decided, that I wanted a few Octan minifigurines to vehicles in my LEGO City. And what best than to check out the latest offerings in the market especially the LEGO CITY - Grand Prix Truck (60025).What I enjoy about the LEGO CITY - Grand Prix Truck set is that you get three minifigures, the detachable truck and trailer, a race car and a tool drawer with plenty of accessories and extra parts that make this set worthwhile. The set took me about an hour to build and it was one of the coolest LEGO CITY vehicle sets I have purchased in 2014 by far!I'll kick off with the tool cabinet. There are many tools that accompany this set and this alone makes the set alluring because you can't really find many of these tools in a set. And there are times that your LEGO mechanic needs more than just a standard wrench. So, that's one point for the purchase of the Grand Prix Truck. Tools aplenty! While a few of the smaller tools will fit in one of the two drawers, many of the bigger ones can be hung on the side of the drawer. You also get one spare tire for the accompanying race car!Let's now discuss the truck! What an awesome looking truck this turned out to be and what a pleasure to build it. Opening doors on both sides, the whole back panel opens up on the driver side and you also get the back rear that opens up as well. The front of the truck is removable, so you have instructions to build the front and the trailer portion separately. The trailer features two parts, the front which can carry spare parts and then the back which the #5 race car will be sitting in during traveling to racing destinations. The front portion can hold the tool cabinet but the cabinet can not be on the LEGO pegs because there is a small part (which connects the front of the truck to the trailer) that sticks out. This probably could have been fixed if another half inch was added, but I'm cure that would have added to the cost of this set. So, I look at it as a training compartment for tires or miscellaneous tools. As for the front of the truck, lift the trailer and you can have your LEGO Octan minifigure drive the truck on its own. I was missing two yellow pieces (good news is that LEGO will send you the missing parts if you go to their website and let them know your set was missing parts), so I substituted it with two red pieces, which worked and probably prefer it this way, as opposed to all yellow lights on top.The doors do open and the mirrors are moveable. The top portion is removable, so you can put your driver inside. Now for the race car, #5 is the star of the show and this sporty race car was fun to put together! The minifigurine was easy to fit inside and the car itself was very simple to put together. I love the identifying #5 factors that are utilized on the stickers on this set.I wish there was a ramp for this vehicle to go inside the Octan Racing truck. But let's pretend there is one and you will quickly realize that the driver can't drive his prize vehicle inside. His head would hit the roof of the truck and poor #5 racer would easily decapitate himself. So, another addition would be a winch with a hook and rope that would help bring the car up. Granted, that would push the cost of this set up high with a ramp and winch, so we'll have to use our imagination of how this race car will get inside the truck.JUDGMENT CALL:Overall, the LEGO CITY - Grand Prix Truck (60025) is a fantastic buy for its pricepoint! I wanted Octan representation and this set gives you three Octan minifigures with their own distinct look. One guy with stubble, the other smiling, the other with a smirk. You get one helmet for the driver, but two visors (one as backup), one gets headphones and a radio, the other can hold a sign with "BRAKE" on it or become your driver of the Grand Prix Truck. Also, you get a tool cabinet with many tools. Tools which you won't find on any other set. So, if you want sets with mechanics and to have access to many tools, this is the set to buy!The other plus is that you get a truck with a removable trailer. I love the green, white and red Octan colors and this set represents that. The trailer can hold the #5 car and additional tools and it's a great transport vehicle. Sure, there is no ramp or winch, but that's the beauty of LEGO's, use your imagination and create your own ramp if needed. And last, you get the #5 race car. Sleek, sporty and definitely a great addition to this set!Really, you are getting your bang for the buck with the "LEGO CITY - Grand Prix Truck (60025)". In my opinion, it's one of the better under $30 LEGO vehicle sets in the market and its unique pieces and many accessories make this set a winner.Highly recommended!

Having put together literally dozens of these smaller Lego sets over the last couple of weeks, a few things stood out to me about this set. First the tractor (or is it semi?) is possibly the most sleek of all the Lego tractor-tralier sets available. The use of 2/3 sloped pieces to create a fairing on the front end is rather clever, and the fact that it is in fact a three tone row of parts and not a decal that gives the striped appearance is another positive. The sleekness continues on through to the fuels tanks, which use a brick with a large radius to give it unique appearance. Secondly, I feel that part count is on the high side with a limited use of the big clunky preformed parts that are found in some sets.Thirdly, I like that this set comes with 3 minifigs. Makes it feel more like an actual pit crew and infinitely better than a driver and lone mechanic would have been. The next thing I really love about this set is the F1 car. It makes me regret not having picked up those F1 racing sets back in the day. If I had, this car would have definitely gotten the checkered flag every time. Honestly, I hate using decals on most of my sets, but this car looked so good on the box I didn't hesitate because I'm very doubtful I'll ever be taking this one apart. As far as the trailer, I have mixed feeling about it. A major portion of it violates the 6 stud wide standard in order to accommodate the race car. The ramp-door-thing at the back of the trailer is an abomination, which could have been slightly redeemed if the outward facing studs of the thing had been tiled over. Instead it has an awkward look that doesn't flow well even with the rest of the trailer, let alone the F1 car and tractor. Lastly, the little minifigs tools don't even come close to fitting in the 'tool box' provided. Maybe I'm picky but I'd rather not have the tools just randomly thrown in the compartment at the front of the trailer because the toolbox is too small to fit even one of them. Why bother even including it if it is only going to remain empty? Anyway, a 4 out of 5 on this one. If I can mod the trailer to look cleaner without adding parts to the set I'd bump it to a 5. Definitely worth owning at least one.

This is a good LEGO set. Please note, this LEGO set is retired and no longer available for retail price. This means you'll be looking at higher inflated secondary market prices. Though the set will cost more than what it originally had cost at retail price, this set would be one I'd consider getting if you can find it for slightly above retail price, $29.99.The detail in this set is very nice... the green coloring looks great in person. The grand prix race car is decent, but I wouldn't say it's anything too special. However, the truck and the trailer that it hauls are both very nice and both have good functionality and playability. The trailer has lots of interior space to haul the grand prix race car,and there's lots of access to the inside of the trailer via two sets of side doors, a larger side door that opens completely, and finally, the back opening up for the grand prix to drive in/out.This LEGO set comes with three LEGO minifigs which is about average for a set this size. The LEGO City Octan sets all tend to be popular and all tend to hold their value long after they retire and are no longer available in stores. Long story short, if you're able to find this LEGO set for retail or near retail price, then I'd definitely recommend picking it up. If you're not able to find it, I would probably hesitate to recommend that you pay more than double or triple the retail price.Hopefully you found my review helpful. If so, please let me know below.Happy bricking!

Our grandson got this kit for Christmas. He got on Jan.4 because had a late Christmas so our children could go to their spouses parent on Christmas day. Then they came to our house on Jan. 4 so we could celebrate Christmas with them. We had dinner before we opened presents. We got real nice gifts. The adults had a white elephant exchange after opening presents. Oh yes, the grandson REALY liked the kit. I was a little long because the last time I wrote a review they said it wasn't long enough. I really hope is long enough now. In case you have question about you can ask Amazon about anything your little heart desires. Thank you for letting me review the kit'

Bought this for my son as his first Lego... he was asking for a car and truck and as I like motor racing, this fit the bill.He loved it but hasn't quite got into the whole making it into something else yet. He loves driving it around and playing with the people and tools. The attention to detail in the design is amazing, with a few custom parts and stickers really bringing detail and styling to what I remember as being plain blocks. The kit includes the racing car, truck, 3 people and a little tool kit. Plenty of fun driving around, having races, pit stops and changing tires etc. Looking forward to our next set.

My nephew had a lot of super pricey LEGO sets on his Christmas list. Rather than buy him one expensive set, I wanted him to have several different presents to open, so I checked Amazon for "inexpensive" sets. Let's face it, LEGO's are expensive no matter which way you slice it, but at least Amazon offers a bit of a "discount." When my nephew started working on building this truck, I thought it looked very detailed - I expect nothing less from LEGO given the high prices! However, I do think LEGO's are a tad bit expensive for what they are.

I bought this Lego set as a birthday gift for my 9 year old nephew. He loved it and it went well with the rest of his Lego City sets. Lego in general is of high quality but I especially liked the design and of this race car and semi. Both are cool to build and fun to play with! I chose this Lego set over the others available because my nephew wanted Lego City items and this one appealed to his love of race cars and big trucks. I also liked it because it was a great deal on Amazon vs purchasing it in a store.

My five year old grandson loved this lego set. He loves big rigs and his father used to be in the racing business, so together they sat down and put it together. It was a joy to watch. Our family has always loved Legos and I know it will get a lot of use. Every morning since Christmas my grandson has jumped out of bed to play with it. Legos are such quality products and teach childrenfocus, manual dexterity and creative building. I have never thought I spent too much on a Lego set!

15.10.2013

It is difficult to single out one LEGO set from the rest because the manufactured quality, effort, imagination and creativity are recognized in every single set, with no difference. In my opinion you cannot make a mistake, whichever you choose. I started bying LEGO sets long time ago and still, after all these years, I see that they preserved all the trademarks of their products and plus added some improvements over time. A job well done!

The car is a fairly simple design that fits nicely inside the trailer. My only complaints are; the toolbox doesnt fit all of the tools, and the loading tailgate isnt at a practical load angle. Those small complaints can be easily fixed with other lego parts; make it your own! Great set all considered

Gave this to one of my grandsons for Christmas. He spent an entire afternoon putting the truck and other pieces together. He is very fond of Lego City. He is 7 and it seemed very age appropriate - offering just enough challenge while not being too difficult to cause frustration.

I am a teacher, and when the kids are playing at recess. This is one of the lego sets they really enjoyed. They may need some help, depending on the age level. But, pretty cool, there is storage in the back of the truck for the F1 car and an extra guy with tools.Great deal!

My Great Grandson is great at putting these "Lego Blocks" together and I got this to encourage him to build his imagination up to help him to eventually build a great life for himself. Too much TV out there for these kids. They need to develop their brain and imagination.

My 4 and a half year old son loved this ! With a little practice, could do mostly by himself. In fact, he sat through almost an hour to put the ambulance together - toy completely held his attention. Instructions are simple. Great buy and gives the child a sense of pride.

4.2.2015

It's great to get so many toys all in one. The only part I didn't like was how loosely the trailer wheels attached. My 3 year old kept breaking them off. I never bother putting stickers on my legos, and this set has a lot of them. But it looks fine without them.
